The cover hitting is not a big deal imo. It's how it was RAW in 3.0, if you miss due to cover you hit the cover. it makes logical sense really. I'd probably take into account the AC of the cover (if the cover has 30 AC, and you hit cover with your 18 attack, you won't be hitting the cover anyway). I think almost every DM I have had used it post 2nd edition.

We have been using it since 3.0. Figuring out the AC of the cover got more than a bit tenuous, are they flat footed against it? Do their shields count? so we just made it an errant shot, but without a chance of your own rogue sneaking you. It's not like they are aiming at a vital spot on you! As long as people play tactically, it rarely affects game play. It just makes archers think about where they are to make their shots and other players think about not being in their way when all possible.

I wouldn't consider the ally flatfooted etc. I'd just use their standard to hit AC. It'd be kinda dumb to be wearing full plate and a guy shoots and hits a 12 AC but your cover of a goblin means he hits you instead (when that would never have bypassed the armor). I mean then you would have a better chance shooting at ally with 16AC standing on the other side of the enemy that has 30AC. Only need to roll against AC 16-19 to hit him lol

so has everyone gone in the first round? not real familiar with flying rules, I assume we can delay and attack with a melee weapon when the bird flies with in reach, presumably to attack. If the bird flies in to attack and then flies back out do we get an AoO?

I'm showing 1,060 XP we level at 2,000 right? Yes, it is unfortunate that the Halfling Paladin fell. I still wish I had taken "tribal scars" now, oh well a little smarter and a lot dumber. Will Ash be able to put together another character to joins us back at Zelcor's Ferry?

She was a CR2, but it read to give CR4 xp if you defeat it.
This makes sense. The fall adds a fairly large chunk of damage to the encounter.

Honestly, raising a level one char is not worth it.
We would have to pay roundabout 6000 gold, you would loose 2 con and some more things.
And I guess we have maybe 600 gold.

There are quests for those that cannot afford the coin. They even have adventures for such things:Raise The Dead

I don't mind killing off someone that is being stupid, but when a character dies a noble death role playing his character properly I think he should have a chance to come back. This is RA, there will be plenty of graves.

I'm ok letting Dolgrin Brightlaughter the First go, and rolling up Dolgrin Brightlaughter the Second. It's in the spirit of RA, and I'll save my quest raise dead for a future character that I'm more upset with the way he dies. This is a perfect end for a paladin. Goes down swinging. Plus it introduces a gimmick I intend to keep for the campaign: There Must Always Be A Dolgrin Brightlaughter. It's not a name, it's a position.

You could set him on fire and tell 2 of ∞, and it would be fine. You should definitely loot his body though.

since Elathras is in still pretty poor shape, I was figuring he would wait with the body, while the team finished clearing out the goblins, except for the blacksmith, of course. Then as they headed back to the ferry Elathras would carry him there. Four or five rooms left and a few mile hike and were back. should only be one day. Elathras is in a little shock here due to the injuries and the brain drain.
