Background:

Cuthalian was born to a young elf maiden, Finora, who escaped to Arwyll Stead with her family while they were fleeing Ustalav and were beset by orcs. His father, Vincalian, was an elven forester who traveled the local area, helping humans and demi-humans alike in their battle to remain and tend their farms in the land of the orcs. He pursued and later married the maiden with fiery red hair. From an early age, Cuthalian’s father taught him what he knew of the forests, of the bow, and of life.

Such a dangerous life as chosen by Vincalian has many hazards. Strangely, it was an accident at the mill that ended his traveling. While assisting with the laying of a new grinding stone one of the support poles broke. Vincalian was caught in the path of the giant stone as it rolled off its mounting. It crushed his right foot which had to be removed. He still refused to move to town and continue to live with his wife, son, and in-laws at a fortified farm about midway between Arwyll Stead and Freedom Town.

Eternal Grudge: Some elves grow up in secluded, isolationist communities where generations-old slights and quarrels linger as eternal blood feuds. Elves with this racial trait receive a +1 bonus on attack rolls against humanoids of the dwarf and orc subtypes because of special training against these hated foes. This racial trait replaces elven magic.

Weapon familiarity: Elves are proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows), and treat any weapon with the word “elven” in its name as a martial weapon.
