Rene Duquesnoy |
You do find some mundane stuff on the archers, but they each have a potion of CLW.
There is a door to the north.
Armun Govil |
Oh right. A door
"Actually, there's those doors. Kelvor, would you like to do the honours and find us some more trouble?"
Armun pauses, then adds, "Assuming we're all set. Tarrow, drink one of the potions if you need to. They're curative potions."
Tarrow |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Thanks Armun, I'll take one of those. However I'll ask my robed friend if he can use that wand of his. It makes me feel bad and good at the same time!"
"I thought for sure there would be a secret door here. Hmmm..." Tarrow kicks the wall. "Can I get some help here?"
If we find don't find any secret doors....
Check for traps on the North door, form up in default marching order and have Kelvor pop the door.
Narvik Drak |
Well done gentlemen. Let us hope more more alarm was raised. Narvik will allow the others to do their thing and prepare to enter the door.
Pribam Pey |
Pribam nods graciously to Tarrow, draws forth the wand of infernal healing, steps toward Tarrow, and activates the wand. He monitors Tarrow's health a moment through the deathwatch eyes. If he is still wounded after the spell has run it's course, Pribam activates the wand a second time.
I think Tarrow only needs one shot, but if he needs two, he gets two before we proceed.
When the healing is done, Pribam restows the wand, pulls his wand of magic missile and takes his place at the rear of the marching order.
Rene Duquesnoy |
Tarrow searches, and using the knowledge he received from Acre (the wounded guy in the passage), a secret door has been revealed. Hail Razmir!
Pribam Pey |
Pribam recasts message on everyone, then detect magic, while still out on the rampart in the expectation of more sneaking about.
Hail Razmir, indeed!
Tarrow |
Kelvor did not object to taking point AND took the ring of Prot, so we will put him in the front of the marching order as previously set up.
"Eureka! I knew that bugger was here. Kelvor if you would be so kind as to pop that door."
Tarrow eyes the secret door for traps
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
If Tarrow does not see anything we pop the door
Armun Govil |
Armun will do a thorough search of the room (take 20)
Perception: 27
Rene Duquesnoy |
Armun steps into the room, and the 2 sets of full plate animate and attack, surprising the crap out of him.
Kelvor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Pribam: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Tarrow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Narvik: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Armun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
1d20 ⇒ 6
The one closest to the door gets an attack, the other moves to Armun (flat-footed).
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Everyone but Narvik & Animated Armor
Armun Govil |
Oh no! My pants!
Armun will 5ft step back and fire two arrows into the RED animated armor.
Rapid Shot, Point Blank, and Arcane Strike
Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Rene Duquesnoy |
The first arrow hits, but then clanks off the armor as if nothing happened with your puny little arrows. Second one misses.
Tarrow |
Tarrow swears, surprised by the walking, attacking armor."For gad sakes!"
Tarrow expertly works his spring loaded wrist sheath to use the adamantine arrows stored there, and unloads on blue
Point Blank + Rapid Shot
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 5 + (3) = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (2) = 9
" I hate it when those damned things do this kinda thing!"
Pribam Pey |
Pribam begins reciting the parable of the Slattern from "The Thirty One Steps" to inspire the Pathfinders.
Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Everyone should be +1 to hit and +1 to damage, except for Armun's first shots, including Tarrow's shots.
Pribam Pey |
"Once, on the shores of Lake Encarthan, there lived a young maiden..."
Pribam Pey |
Pribam wonders if he knows anything about sets of plate armor that animate and attack.
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Apparently, Pribam had a large lunch before the lecture on such topics at the cloister.
Rene Duquesnoy |
Both of Tarrow's bolts pierce the animated plate mail for full damage (plus song).
Kelvor up.
Kelvor of the Shundar-Quah |
Kelvor steps up and positions himself between the two suits of armor. He swings his earthbreaker at the first suit and backswings to the second suit.
Pwr Atk: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 1 = 29 Dmg: 2d6 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 17 + 1 = 22
CLEAVE Pwr Atk: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 11 + 1 = 19 Dmg: 2d6 + 17 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3) + 17 + 1 = 22
The Cleave assumes Kelvor can stand adjacent to both suits. Is the Roll20 map up to date? I can't see it.
Armun Govil |
It is, and you should be able to. I'll move you accordingly (just a 5ft step)
Rene Duquesnoy |
Blue goes down. Red gets smashed, but not all damage goes through.
Red double smashes Kelvor.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
I think the 20 hits right? 8 points on Kelvor.
Heroes up!
Tarrow |
Tarrow fires two more adamantine bolts into Red. 5 foot stepping to get the clearest shot. I can't see the map
Point Blank + Rapid Shot + Bard Song
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + (6) = 18
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Damage: 1d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 6 + (2) = 18
Armun Govil |
Tarrow, I moved you 5ft to get a shot, but cover is unavoidable. Thankfully, looks like your rolls don't care!
Armun, having seen how ineffective his arrows are but not caring, will fire another pair
Arcane Strike, Point Blank, and Rapid Shot in effect...
Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Damage 2: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
And from there he'll take a 5ft step out of the way.
Narvik Drak |
Now that was interesting. Narvik will step forward and investigate the former enemies as well as the other armor in the room. He'll also cast Detect Magic in the area.
Rene Duquesnoy |
Narvik doesn't detect anything magical, and the only quality armor seems to have a few bolts sticking out. Probably worthless now.
Armun Govil |
Nice. Well, Armun will now resume his search of the room.
Take 20 Perception = 27
Tarrow |
Tarrow replaces the adamatine bolts he used in his spring loaded wrist sheath, in fact he puts five each arm.
"Not much here, lets move out."
If everyone is done with the second armory, Tarrow motions the group to form up in marching order on the north double doors.
Tarrow looks for traps and if he doesn't find any he asks Kelvor to pop the door.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Armun Govil |
Armun will knock back one of the Potions of Cure Light Wounds, and then get in position with his bow.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Wiping his mouth, he'll turn to Pribam and say,"Your recitations aren't bad, if a bit serious. Next time we find trouble, it's my turn!"
Narvik Drak |
I can't wait to hear it, Armum. Narvik says, though it is unclear whether his interest is true or sarcastic. Let us hope we will not require any inspiration in the near future.
Pribam Pey |
"A pity I did not get to finish it. It is a most educational story, but I look forward to hearing you perform."
Pribam draws his wand of infernal healing and heals both Kelvor and Armun, although the latter barely needs it, while Armun takes his time searching the room.
"This will only make your skin crawl for about a minute. Then you will be fully healed."
Armun Govil |
Armun's skin does indeed crawl from the Infernal Healing, a magic he recognizes. He gives Pribam a look that starts off surprised, and quickly turns to anger. "That's a very evil magic you use. A 'gift' from Razmir, is it? Nevermind, I don't want to know. Let's move on and get that door open."
Pribam Pey |
"It is a trick he stole from Asmodeus and grants to the faithful. To use the tools of evil to cure the ills caused by evil is not, in and of itself an evil act. It is not like we are animating the corpses or consuming the souls of our foes. Instead, we using the blood of fiends, in this case in the crafting of this wand, to grant a small kindness and do a good deed. The Living God teaches that such acts are just."
Armun Govil |
"Prepared words. Ones I'm sure you've had to utter before. In a world where Shelyn kindness can close wounds, Razmir chooses instead to tell his disciples of stolen magic from Asmodeus? That seems telling, to me."
Armun shakes his head. "We're wasting light. You have your method, and I have my own," he says, patting a wand in his backpack.
"Kelvor, how about that door," Armun asks, not wanting to get bogged down in a philosophical debate.
Rene Duquesnoy |
Kelvor pops the door open. There is a hallway, with a door on the north, west, east, and south. Oh no! 2 more hobgoblins and some dogs!
ARFF ARFF!
Kelvor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Pribam: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Tarrow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Narvik: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Armun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Kelvor, then baddies, then the rest of the story.
Pribam Pey |
Pribam breathes a sigh of relief. He was growing concerned that his consistently high initiative numbers would give him away as not being an actual cleric! Finally he is near the bottom of the order, where clerics belong!
Tarrow |
After the baddies go...
Tarrow raises his crossbow "Have at thee fiend!" At blue
If the first shot kills blue, second shot on green.
Point Blank + Rapid shot
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (2) = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33 Crit threat
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (2) = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 IF confirmed
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 5 + (5) = 16
Kelvor of the Shundar-Quah |
Kelvor steps in immediately and moves to engage the hobgoblins.
Pwr Atk: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30 Dmg: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (1, 3) + 17 = 21
CLEAVE Pwr Atk: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 Dmg: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (5, 6) + 17 = 28
Can't see the map, as I'm at the airport about to board my flight back to LAX. If I can't get in cleave range, then assume a single attack.
Armun Govil |
I moved Kelvor on the map. Should be no issue getting the Cleave in on the dogs.
Armun begins to sing, inspiring is companions (+1 Attack & Damage)
"As I went home on Moonday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a horse outside the door where my old horse should be"
Rene Duquesnoy |
2 dead puppies
both hobgoblins rapid shot PBS kelvor
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1 hit for 9 damage.
Tarrow thwacks blue...dead
Armun inspires courage (+1 attack/damage)
Rest of party up
Narvik Drak |
How'd I know I'd be inspired by a story involving drinking? Narvik gives a toothy grin as Armun spins his tale.
Narvik steps up and fires a bolt at the lone hobgoblin!
XBow: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8 for Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Pribam Pey |
Pribam reaches toward the ceiling and calls upon the Living God to produce another golden spear, which Pribam lets fly at the last remaining foe!
Splintered Spear: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 = 23 counting the inspiration but not the cover
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10 plus one point of bleed.
"Razmir, smite Thine foe!"
