Tarrow will search the room, if there is nothing of interest he will form up along the north wall.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

![]() |

Tarrow finds nothing of interest in this hallway. A quick check of the northern door, and no traps can be found. Open the door to find..
Low bookshelves line the northern wall of this library. Two freestanding bookshelves fill the center of the room, but nearly all of the books have been taken off the shelves and are strewn haphazardly over the floor, along with dozens of pages of notes. In the southern part of the room, a double staircase leads down to the first floor, while double doors allow exit to the south.

Pribam casts detect magic and scans the room and the hall the party just left while the others search them.

![]() |

"Except it seems like the invaders were searching for something. It might be that there's a hint. Let me take a quick search."
Armun will cast Detect Magic and search through the room quickly.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

![]() |

It looks like there are many books, some with hastily scrawled notes in them. It will take about 30 minutes to look through notes and sift through the books.

![]() |

Armun quickly realizes that a quick search won't do. "Ok, if we're going to give this library a concerted search, we're going to need a bit of time. If we all look together, we might be able to make sense of this quickly. I would like to search this, as I can't help but feel there's more going on than a simple hobgoblin occupation of this keep."
He pauses and looks at the group. "What say you all? Can we take the time and search this, together?"

![]() |

"The alarm was blown. They know we're here, but have not attacked in force for some reason. Why don't we ask the Ambassador to guard the door while the rest of us search?"
If the rest of the group agrees with Armun's suggestion to search, Pribam participates by aiding them. Knowing that his powers of perception are unusually weak, Pribam asks Pastor Narvik to cast guidance upon him.
Assuming that the party searches and that Narvik helps Pribam, here's Pribam's roll to aid:

Digging through the notes, you realize that Vos was looking for clues on something called the Arcane Engine. This artifact is in some type of hidden chambers under the tower, and could be a priceless power source.
You also find 2 secret doors.

![]() |

" Oh no, not the Arcane Engine!"
" Lets clear this top level and get back down to that pit we saw below."
Tarrow will motion the party to form up on the secret door to the left, in marching order, look for traps and if he does not see any motion Kelvor to pop the secret door.

It is hard to tell based on the map, are there doors leading to east and west from the room just south of the library? If so we should investigate those, if not downstairs we go.

![]() |

Agreed. Armun would rather clear the level and then move on.
East, then West? In our standard formation?

![]() |

"I agree, friend Armun," says Kelvor of the Shundar-Quah. "Let's us proceed east to the rising sun, then west."
Kelvor listens and checks for traps at the east door.

You open the eastern door.
A long, formal banquet table dominates the center of this room. A desk and table occupy opposite sides of the room, and two sets of double doors, one in the west wall, the other in the east, are the chamber’s only visible exits.
Inside, there are 3 hobgoblins. 2 look like the archers you have fought before. One looks different. She is unarmed.
The unarmed one looks at you. So you are the warmbloods that have been busy here. Yes?

"And you, I presume, are Fethi? Do you command this host of hobgoblins who seem to have occupied this Nirmathi keep?" Armun asks, holding his bow.

Narvik readies himself, preparing for the potential battle that may follow the conversation. At the moment he is quite content with allowing the others to speak.

![]() |

Within the whisper of the group's connnection Kelvor speaks quietly, so only the team can hear him, "As the Battle Sages of the Shadde-Quah say, Do not let the lamia speak, lest its words dull your axe. Priest, show it the fire of your strange god!"
Kelvor waits, perfectly still, hoping she doesn't notice his eagerness, for Pribam Pey to throw one of his fire jewels, before rushing forward.

As the fireball explodes in front of him, Kelvor recites one of the 101 Tenets of Battle to himself: You must feel the breath of the sorcerer as you choke it from him.
The flames flickering across his face unnerve him, but the young warrior refuses to let the enemy see his discomfort. Your face must be the Storval Plateau, the enemy looking up at sheer, blank stone.
Rene: at Kelvor's earliest opportunity (after fireball) he will rush the left side of the table, attempting to engage Fethi, as a priority. He'll take an AoO from the other hobgoblin if necessary, but he wants to be adjacent to Fethi and the other hobgoblin if at all possible. If their positions change, due to their earlier initiative, then Kelvor will adjust tactics to suit.
