Bracnos is able to find willing brawling participants and the bubears are amazed at his strength. Syldran manages to scamper off to test his abilities but sees he is observed by a group of goblins just interested in his shifting abilities.
Eventually as the raucous bestial festivities of the bugbear tribes die down, Sakkarot will want to speak with the party alone. He summons them into his private chambers and dismiss his many followers with a deep growl. does anyone not attend the meeting?
“You are traitors to your own kind. You must know that. When Balentyne falls and my horde pours through its shattered gates, we will slaughter the Talireans by the thousands. Yet I see no regret in your eyes. Tell me, how can this be?”
Lillith Frostmourne |
"I do not speak for the rest, but to me, the way I qas treated. I feel nothing for them. They get what they deserve. I just want to see them on their knees"
Wade Willhelm v2 |
"I do not see them as my own kind, they have forfeit any such claim they have on me, tell me, if someone locked you up, inflicted a brand on your person, tried to kill you would you still call them kin? What about those complicit in the act? The current generation has stagnated and rotted under mitra's supposed guiding light, and must be scrapped, we can try again with the next one or perhaps this entire land should be left with no humans left..."
Bracnos |
"They called me a demon and branded me, no they are not my kind only walking dead. Just don't know it as yet but soon will as i rip their still beating hart from their body and crush it before their eyes. I will have my revenge on every soul there"
Annak Malvari |
"My story echoes the same. I too was branded, as were the others." Annak shows the bugbear her scar from the prison.
In regards to Wades comment about all humans, "While those humans were scum and inflicted a great deal of pain towards us and others, not all humans deserve to be wiped out. Some are worth more to the cause than others..." she says gesturing to Razul, Lillith and Syldran.
you cant throw the other members of the party under the bus in front of these bugbears. they will want us to give them the humans for food...maybe.
Razul Tarym |
"If they are not strong enough to defend against you, then they deserve their fates. The natural order must be restored. If that means it must come at Bugbear hands, then so be it. It has nothing to do with being human or not. I am human, yet I have no doubt that I can best anyone here when crossing swords. The problem in Talingarde is that they have forgotten their place."
Delilah Vae |
Delilah just laughs.
"If you think kinship means anything to those fools in Matharyn, you're more naive than I expected. My "family" wanted nothing to do with me when my true parentage was discovered. They're hateful beings cloaked in the guise of righteousness. Duplicitous cretins that would gladly sell their own flesh and blood for a few coppers more. They prattle on about loyalty, but the only loyalty they have is to their own bottom line."
She takes a long, slow sip of her wine.
Syldran |
Seeing as everyone had their turn speaking about their intentions, he figured he might as well chip in too.
"My reason might not be as noble as my friends here. I seek to root out the humans that have settled here. They no longer adhere to the ways of the past. No longer to they seek to live in peace with nature, more content to despoil it's beauty and reap it's rewards. I've spent many years sequestered away from humans, no longer sure I quite fit the name anymore,"

Seeing Annaks brand from the prison, Sakkarot pulls aside his great breast-plate and reveals the holy symbol of Asmodeus burned into his chest. “We all have our scars.
Tomorrow you must depart this camp. It will never be truly safe for you here. Over the next week, more tribes will rally to my banner. I will promise them blood and give them steel. Then at last I will be ready to march. A week after that – I will be poised to strike. I will move my horde to the valley just north of Balentyne. There we will wait for your signal. Fire this rocket into the air. Within the hour, we will attack. Make sure that the way is ready.
After we gather, my horde will be idle and start to grow anxious. I can hold them together for another two weeks. After that, I expect desertions and squabbling. Get your work done before then. You have one month to infiltrate and destroy Balentyne.”
Sakkarot hands Wade a single carefully wrapped signal rocket. Suddenly the bugbear warlord gets very serious and stern. He stares straight into the party's eyes. “Can you do this? In one month can you break the Watch Wall?”
Bracnos |
Bracnos looks back into Fireaxe's eye as a grin grows and fire sparks in his eyes "One month the wall will fall"
Lillith Frostmourne |
"Less, if we work well, and as a team. Before the end of the month, flames will devour it"
qwerty71 |
He grunts and nods. “Thorn has faith in you. If you weren’t his best, he wouldn’t have sent you. Do this and your names will be legend. Now go. Hail Asmodeus!”
The Bugbear war-chief calls in his guards and you are escorted out of his tent down to the docks. A group of bugbear warriors with new weapons are eerily eyeing the boat and the crew.
Kargeld and his men are waiting on the ship. As the party steps aboard the ship, Kargeld mentions “Look in that one’s eyes. He’s smart; always plotting. Bugbears should not be smart. If your business here is concluded then let us leave. I want to drop you off and sail to the east.”
Syldran |
I can only speak for myself, but I think we should have a little huddle so we can all be on the same page regarding our intentions?
Lillith Frostmourne |
CON weekend. So will be posting very slowly if at all. Heres my 2cp... charm the captain. Then off the rest of the crew. Then off the captain
Annak Malvari |
i say let Bracnos get all bad orc on them raging and slinging spells while he rest of us watch and sip tea or coffee. besides he took a long nap and left the heavy lifting to the rest of us. he owes us. just my 2 cp.
Bracnos |
LOL ok i can work with that...but it might be a bit too much as they might be close to my level ^_^
Delilah Vae |
I might be able to keep Kargeld dazed with Ear-Piercing Scream long enough for him to be less of an issue. If we can manage to drop one of the other sailors pretty quickly, I can raise him as a zombie to bolster our ranks.
Also, since he seems like a decent enough fellow, I'd like to try to keep Yurik alive, unless he joins Kargeld in the defense of the ship.

Agreed. I also have some spells/skills that might be of use.
Delilah Vae |
We still need him to get us where we are going. I think when we arrive we attack, kill them all, strip the boat of valuables (don't forget the payment he was given), and then shove it off.
Well, yeah. Those were the broad strokes of what Thorne wanted us to do anyway. We're trying to hammer out the finer details, particularly about how to approach combat. That said, we should probably open with Bracnos or Wade smashing into Kargeld as hard as possible to give us as much of a surprise edge as possible.
qwerty71 |
The Frosthamer sets sail from the bugbear warcamp and travels under the cover of darkness provided by the night across Lake Tarik. The boat stops just short of shore and Kargeld looks at the party and says,"I will drop you off here. No one will see you at this hour. This spot is a couple of hours walk from the Tower Balentyne and the small town of Aldencross. I leave you here and depart quickly, please unload yourselves."
Bracnos |
I have a new photo with how my new rage form looks ^_^
Bracnos skin cracks as smoke and fire erupts from the brakes in his skin demonic horns grow and five new blood red eyes open over his face his teeth elongate to monsters fangs this new demon rips into the captain

@Bracnos : thats a lot of attacks. But according to the rage power your gore attack should be 1d8 not 2d6. Unless youre large i guess... but when did u become large size? Im just wondering. =^^=
Bracnos |
it's the rageshaper archetype makes all transmutation attacks act one size larger, and it works for na attacks I get from my bloodrage so all my dice are treated as a size larger ^_^
Razul Tarym |
Yes, but in the surprise round you only get a single attack. You can't full attack in the surprise round.

looking at the boat map, there is no straight path to Kargeld from your spots ont he map. He has too many of his sailors between you and him... he is not stupid after all...i will take Bracnos' initial rage as the surprise round and everyone can repost their actions after that if it changes too much... was just waiting for someone to initiate aggression against the ship captain... i need to give them some sort of fighting chance
Bracnos loses control and begins to change his appearance and rage grabbing the closest sailor to him and bite/claw/gore him to death... Seeing one of his sailors killed Kargeld bellows out “You want my ship, do ye? I killed my brother to take her and I’ll kill all of you to keep her! Kill them all!”

Lillith Frostmourne |
i do believe one can charge in a surprise round.

I moved Razul next to Kargeld as you wanted, but he is flanked on his left and right side with sailors...and i will take Razul's initial attack against Kargeld above which hits.

Delilah will take this opportunity to cast Lesser Animate Dead on the poor dead sailor to make him her zombie slave. The Spirit Vessels revelation gives that zombie maximum HP. She will then retreat to a safer location while the zombie attacks the sailor immediately in front of Wade.

Ok, I am thoroughly confused. I thought we were doing a surprise round? It appears that we just started at Round 1. If so, then I didn't charge or get the flank bonus with Bracnos (however, I believe a 24 would still hit Kargeld so that didn't change my damage). Also, since I couldn't charge, my AC was 21.
Razul Tarym |
Round 2?
Razul suddenly blurs into a whirling display of martial prowess. His moves defy human anatomy. All who see him realize the utter futility of crossing blades with him and are demoralized.

Btw GM, is Kargeld a barbarian? If so, subtract 4 from my previous damage as he would have Uncanny Dodge and not be flat footed so I would lose my sneak attack.

Did you forget about my new zombie pet? Don't forget about my new zombie pet. ^_^
Delilah, now safe at the back of the boat begins casting a spell. As she completes the spell, her left hand seems to wrench off of her body and float beside her. She winces in pain. Her zombie continues its mindless pursuit of the death of its former comrade.
Delilah casts Spectral Hand, causing her to lose 1d4 ⇒ 1 HP for the 5 minute duration of the spell. Her zombie continues to attack the sailor directly in front of Wade.
Zombie Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Zombie Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Well, at least the zombie is consistent.

qwerty71 |
Syldran easily grapples and constricts the sailor to his front while Wade deflects an attack and hits with his counter attack, almost killing the sailor in one blow. you and the zombie had no room to maneuver hence you get no flanking from it until the sailor to your front was killed Razul and Kargeld trade steel blows and Razul hits the captain again. Delilah commands her zombie to press his atack and the zombie once again strikes the sailor to Wades front taking him down after Wade drew blood on him, Wade then steps over the dying body. Lillith strikes a sailor with her nodachi cutting him to shreds. Delilah then removes her hand...
