I think thats how people refer to the link between their profile and and a sepcific thread. Once you post,, you can find it easier, by just going to that alias' recent posts.

dice check using negative modifier
Ha! Me thinks this dice thing needs an adjustment.. *Looks under the hood of the dice box. A sudden sound of lightning followed by a puff of smoke fills the air. Shisa looks up with her face full of soot and her hair standing on end* Ack! Booby trapped!
Let's see if I can at least beat Mundin... looser buys the next round.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Die check using neg mod
Just like my tabletop.. all good die rolls happen when they're not needed.. *le sigh*

When you post in a thread using your default alias a little black dot will appear next to that thread on the forum page to show that you have posted something in that thread.
Using the dot makes it easier to find threads in the forum.

Plus, clicking the 'Focus' link (upper right of the post list) will collapse the full list only showing those you dotted or frequently visit. I find this helps immensely.

You are going for a sub5 roll average right?
*Tries to play it off as a planned roll* Um, I meant to let the dwarf beat me in singing.. yah, that's the ticket.. honest. :)
Sub 5 average? That sounds about right.. only high rolls I get are when the game mechanics require a low roll.
As ProfPotts said, the dicebot is a harsh mistress.. but he didn't mention she's also one sadistic Chelaxian wench!
Now.. if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go soothe my wounded half-elf pride.. *wanders off muttering about being beaten by a dwarf of all things..*

Shisa |

And of course when no one is there to hear you... roll that 19.
Dicebot is playing mean tricks!
Oddly enough, that's what I was hoping for. As an elf (even half) she should be able to sing at least a bit, so if anyone happens by..
Plus, people tend to tune out really bad singers.. what better way to hide your background from prying quills? ;) So it kind of played into the character..
even so.. yes.. story of my gaming life.. all good rolls when they go un-needed.. heh.

Shisa |

I'll take whatever the dicebot gives me, especially if its better spirits.
Even if it means spilling the good stuff? heh.
I can honestly say, a really bad roll makes you think of how you can over come it and stay in your mental concept of your character. Yesterday was a prime example.. out sang by a dwarf.. ugh. It would have been infinitely harder to play out if I'd have been a Paly or other character with high morals / honor. Made for a very enjoyable scene. :)

Shisa |

Nothing like a low social skill roll to see what yur character will do. Can't wait for the diplomacy/bluff nat 1 to see what happens and party reactions.
Agreed. at least it won't be me next time.. I hope.. I already rolled the nat 1 trying to spin a tale. *laugh*

Tony: as well as the Ability Score re-jig, you'll need to decide your port of embarkation, and well as which Martial Weapon Proficiency he has for being a swashbuckler. Also note that Cold Iron weapons cost double, so a Cold Iron rapier costs 40gp, not 20gp. He's also 30gp worth of jewellery short of 'looking the part' as far as the coutier's outfit goes - which means (depending on how he plays it) he could come off as a 'down on his luck' noble, or as rif-raf who robbed a noble in a back ally... Either way, the point is that people notice the discrepancy.
Singers all: remember folks, taking 10 is your friend! :)
I'm sure Shisa's social abilities will improve once she's on dry land... yes... that sounds like a reasonable excuse... ;)

Shisa |

You trying to say we bad at singing? Everyone will take a lvl of bard/perform! And sing our way out. (You know it would be scary, 'Serpent Skull' the musical.) Or like west side story, dibs on being a jet!
Also, could get spirit fingers and jazz hands as class features!
From somewhere near the galley, a feminine voice breaks into song.. "The Shi-ip is alive with..the sound of mu-sic"
Thanks Aerodus.. now I'm going to have Oklahoma and the Sound of Music stuck in my head every scene for three days.. heh.

Aerodus Whiteblade |

You have just forced me to try and tweak the Oklahoma song to fit mwangi...
MMMMMWANGI! Where the snakes are falling from the planes...
Now, what would be cool is a welcome to the jungle!
But maybe we can get gelik to do a 'little orphan annie bit' i figure him and the rogue can tap...

'Serpent Skull' the musical
ROFL!
You know, I've always secretly pictured the Bard's Inspire Competence ability being a bit like one of those old musicals where folks in everyday situations suddenly start to sing and dance in a well-coordinated fashion... Ah, Sir Cliff in Summer Holiday... Uh... did I type that out loud?! :)

Mundin IronHand |

When i read gelik's response to the songs, i fell out of my computer chair. The wife had to come see and got a ghood laugh out of it too. She advises us bring the gnome along and see if his scathign retorts of our probably inept combat abilities will paralyzze the enemy in abttle. I had to inform her that I'm sure we will do much better during our 1st fight. Dicebot don't let me down!!!! Will beginbuilding my d20 shrine immedietly

'Serpent Skull' the musical
As long as the dwarf doesn't start singing to the tune of a well-loved Disney song..
Land Ho
Land Ho
It's off to the Shiv we go
We crash our boat
No more to float
Land ho Land Ho
Of course, a little Gene Kelly..
Just singin' on the beach
Just singin' on the beach
What a glo-orious feeling
I'm land-bound again..

Why else she so good to a paladin of iomedae from cheliax? I got homefield advantage!
Don't suppose i can change my deity to dicebot and remain a paladin... not sure its lg.

The Exotic Weapon Proficiency Feat has a prerequisite of BAB +1, which Tony doesn't have. However, I'll let it stand, on the understanding that until he meets that prerequistite he can only wield the dueling sword as well as he could a longsword he was proficient in (i.e. he can't use it with Weapon Finesse until he meets the Feat prerequisite). Sound fair?
As for the main-gauche, in this game it's basically just a specific design of dagger you use in your off-hand. The game rules are pretty abstract when it comes to weapons, and the weapons in the book cover a lot of similar historical items: the 'dagger' for example, covers everything from your French main-gauche to a Scottish skean dhu to a Japanese tanto.
For a specific 'companion weapon' you could look at the swordbreaker - but that's into Exotic Weapon Proficiency territory again. Of course, the Catch Off-Guard Feat would enable Tony to use classic dueling companion weapons such as lanterns or cloaks (not to mention anything else the game would consider an 'improvised weapon') without penalty, not to mention allowing him to add Sneak Attack damage against unarmed opponents (it also doesn't have any prerequistites as a Feat, so maybe taking that instead of the Exotic Weapon Proficiency for the dueling sword, and making him a rapier fighter again, would be a better fit?).

For some reason I have a horrible mental image of mundin with a rubber ducky, singing the song. "Rubber ducky, you're the one* squeak* you make sailing so much fun* squeak squeak* rubber ducky... ... you're the one!.
I blame lack of sleep, mainly due to revrent worship of the dicebot.

So then.. we change the name of the thread to "ProfPott's Smuggler's Shiv goes to Broadway" and open with:
<to the tune of Cabaret>
No use permitting
some prophet of doom
To wipe every smile away.
Come hear the music play.
Life is a Smug'ler's Shiv, old chum,
Come to the Smug'ler's Shiv!!
Of course, the theme to Gilligan's Island would fit even better :)
Of course, y'all realize, I'm waiting to see which song gets stuck in y'alls head first. Muhahahahaha.

Tony Nedraid |

Sorry, I kept going back and forth between options.
I really like the offensive bonus the duelling sword gave.
I really like the swashbucklery options Catch Off-Guard gave.
I ended up reducing my blade to Rapier and take Catch Off-Guard instead of exotic weapon. (Maybe I can take it later...)
On with the show!

Shisa |

Oh snap! ITS GAME TIME..
And as they sing on Bug Bunny..
"Overture, curtain, lights
This is it
The night of nights
No more rehearsing and
nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtain, lights
This is it
We'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit...
On with the show, this is it!"

LAST POST OF 2nd PAge!
You know.. I am sorely tempted to take a bard lvl or two, or maybe just skill rank in perform..
Have the traveling troupe in the jungle..
Either that or (if we keep this going in the PbP Discussion) by the end of this we can have a whole sound track for someone to play in the background of the AP.
For theme songs:
Aerys - Cold as Ice by Foreigner
