Only if Derrik walks into the area of effect does he need to make a save. Standing in the doorway, he's not quite in it, but if he moves to engage any of the enemies, he will be subject to the hypnotic pattern.

It works out the same way basically, but the way I had you positioned after last round, you were only 5-ft step from Coal for this round--first attack would miss him, but second attack hits, though not confirmed crit.

Yes, a 5-ft step allows Derrik to flank with one of the two giant ants attacking him (they can't hurt him because of DR, but they can still provide a flank)....

Now that Coal is grappled by Levinson's constrictor, he can only make one attack per round with a one-handed (or is it light only?) weapon as a standard action, right? And doesn't he do so at -2 even? And is considered flat-footed?

" Levinson you have done the correct actions thus far when it comes to Grapple.. GM He can make a full attack with a Light or One handed weapon at the penalties the grappled condition bestows (-2 to attack -4 to Dex) But he does not get a chance to break out and automatically fails.. giving the constrictor a +5 bonus on further checks to grapple. Breaking Grapple is a standard action. So says RULADIN "

Also, lets take a quick census of who's actually still playing....

I've heard from Rad's player--tornados and lack of reliable Internet ATM are keeping him from posting, but he promised to return when he could....

Krar's player has my permission to replace Krar, a bard or archer would be fine, or whatever you want to play, Billy....

Dwayne Lee I will probably phase out now that the Coal Withers arc is complete.... My buddy has not been able to play him for reasons of RL stuff, obviously, so DLH will probably stay at PB in the C or do off-scene missions with other operatives, like Prue, Lakra, Jewels, etc....

Haven't heard from Mephos or Krar throughout the fight with Coal, et al, so we can just assume that they were searching other rooms in The Oriental Saloon for additional foes during the brief fight, and return after Withers is beheaded by Vash, having found all other rooms clear of enemies....

Krar can remain at PB in the C in the same fashion as DLH, and we can assume that he goes on various adventures with DLH, Jewels, Prue, Lakra, etc. from now on, and Billy can introduce his new character back at base?

Then we would have an active FO team consisting of:

Billy's new character;
Derrik;
Grimm;
Kate;
Koran;
Levinson;
Mephos;
Radsworth;
Yingzen.

That's 9 PCs.... A big party, but manageable, I think! :)

Another point to address is the direction The FOs wish to go next. They have a number of options:

Return to London and deal with Vampire Von Ulrik and claim Mjolnir....

Return to Lido Key and deal with The Slime-Shrouded Master and its minions....

A cool idea I can't resist developing that one of you guys pitches....

How are we going to start earning money again. I saved my previous 6000 gp to work on a larger item. Perhaps we find Nazi Gold cache?

Your most recent reward (8,000 gp upgrade) was funded largely by loot taken in raids on cult bases by the Navajo braves prior to Pandora's Box relocating to The GC.

Nazi gold and other treasures collected by Von Ulrik will likely provide future funding....

The fact that both our arcane casters are still 5th level is evidence that those players might need a break or are unable to post ATM for one reason or another, so unless those players post otherwise, we will assume that Mephos and Radsworth will not be participating on the next mission, in addition to Dwayne Lee and Krar....

Mephos has some intense RL issues going on right now so he will be stepping out at least for right now.

as for my new character I would like some imput from other players, I have four main ideas but i'm open to others.

a rogue focused on disabling and infiltration.

a bard focused on buffing and healing. (are bards more useable than they were in 3.5?)

a fighter (archer) focused on ranged dpr.

or a wizard focused on battlefield control.

wich one do you guys think I should use?

I personally am a fan of the rogue idea especially because we don't have one in the party and it would fit well in the modern setting. But magic is always a plus, and I can't comment on the PF bard. I have only played a 4e one. Dodges rocks and hate being thrown at her for bringing up 4th edition.
