A klar would be 12 gp, a masterwork one 162 gp. Both could easily be found in Korvosa, though not in the green Market itself: Zeeva has a strict rule against selling arms in her establishment. Herbs would likely run 2-5gp depending on how much you wish to buy.

![]() |

Not a lot in quantities, just enough to make a thoughtful gift. Would anyone else agree to split the costs? A masterwork klar (preferably made by a shoanti weaponsmith) and some herbs would amount to 170 gp, which could be shared by the group.

![]() |

Theriahm will gladly pay his fair share of any gift.

![]() |

Rasamoro hands Anail a small sack of gold that happens to be exactly the share required of him.
"Gift good idea. Rasamoro help Nail."

GM Zoomba |

Zeeva gives you directions towards the Skaldwood and you manage to pick up some herbs from the Green Market before you leave. Finding a klar is almost as easy, as several merchants throughout the city hawk the strange fusion of shield and weapon asa a strange curio of the local culture.
The path towards the Shoanti enclave of the Skaldwood takes your party from the Green Market east through the Southshore district, then into the East Shore, before following the central road through the city gates to the south. As you make you way towards the copse of trees that lay home to many of the area's Shoanti, dilapadated huts and sparsely decorated buildings and outposts lie in stark contrast to the majestic walls of the city behind you. Men and woman - most bald or with shaved heads and bearing detailed tattoos - look up at your curious bunch as you walk through the Skaldwood, but then go back to speaking to one another in a strange tongue. Eventually however, an old man spekas enough Common to direct you down the right set of winidng trails towards Telmayne's abode.
Following his instructions leads you to a simple but well-put-together wooden home, outside of which a tall atheltic woman is sitting before a small fire, occasionally throuwing pinches of a substance into the flame. Hearing your approach, she rises and turns to you. The lady appears quite young, and wears a scarlet bandana tied tightly around her head.
"So, outsiders." she says looking at the six of you with a dispassionate gaze. "I am Telmayne. What is it you are looking for here? What trouble would you bring?"

![]() |

Roland's first thought upon seeing the woman was not what he was expecting.
"Greetings good lady. We come seeking your guidance regarding zhe small problem we encountered with Zeena in zhe Green Market."

![]() |

Ajax contributes his share of the gold for the gifts, though he seems skeptical that a a masterworks weapon is necessary.
Upon meeting the woman, Ajax lets the more diplomatic of the group do the talking, but Ajax does the listening.

The shaman cocks her head just for an instance before sitting down again and focusing on the fire.
"Zeeva is a good soul, as far as it goes." Telmayne says. "But if you've run into an issue with her than you should take it up with her. In case it has escaped your thoughts, my people were driven from our lands. I assure you that that fact is still fully in mine. Leave the details of your city squabbles at your gates."
Looking around, Ajax notices several drawings and fetishes subtly woven within the trees and bushes around Telmayne's home. The survivalist also noticed a flicker of interest at the mention of Zeeva, but the woman seems exasperated by your presence.

how long has it been since we left the market?

![]() |

"Well, um hello. It's good to meet you. We were wondering if you could help us with, erm, a spirit problem we are having? There are some um unquiet spirits in the Green Market that don't seem to like it when things get louder, but the Aspis is putting the squeeze on Zeeva, and shes trying to be a good person and tell them no but they are escalating it and now they have sent armed thugs and it's probably going to get worse from here and then these spirits might just get mad and trash the whole place anyway. So, erm, If you could help us with appeasing the spirits maybe?"

Anail bows in a respectful manner, offering the gifts to Telmayne. "Greetings, honored one. We have come to seek guidance, for natural forces are at work and threaten Zeeva. Recently, fruit and vegetable have animated to attack people in the market, speaking Shoanti words. We were hoping your wisdom could preserve the place Zeeva is trying to keep. Here are some gifts for you."

GM Zoomba |

Telmayne looks surprised at Anail as he approaches, but accepts the gifts with a returning nod. ”Aspis, Pathfinders.” she nods towards the wayfinders you bear. ”I have no interest in your petty fights over who gets to excavate which culture’s sites and claim their relics for your own. But if you speak true about what you saw – a Shoanti spirit ill at rest and lashing out at the Green Market…” Telmayne frowns then beckons you close to sit down. ”Come, let me tell you a story of our history. It is sadly, like most, not a pleasant one.”
”At one time in our past, there lived a great shaman who dedicated himself to the cause of unity and peace among the seven Shoanit quahs. While we were and are still one popel, our divisions held us back from our best potential, and that made us all the more vulnerable in the face of the Chelish invaders who came from the south. That was how he – Galdron Greenheart – saw it in any case.”
”Galdron’s original name has gone unrecorded, but ‘Greenheart’ he adopted himself when he chose to set aside the warlike ways of our quah. History recounts that he was moved by an ancient legend that true unity would only come on the heels of a true sanctuary – a place of peace and armistice free of weapons where all Shoanti would be welcomed. Galdron built such a shrine, and began to spread his vision to all who would hear it.” Her head drops to face the ground. Without weapons, however, he could not defend himself against the Chelish invaders who saw him as a potential threat for his ability to inspire and unite his people. They executed him centuries ago, and buried his shrine to remove any memory of the peace he once preached.”
Telmayne gets up and begins slowly walking towards her home. ”Buried, but not entirely lost. Gladron Greenheart’s shrine, his dream, was located where your friend’s Green Market now stands – likely buried unremarked beneath the current building. I have felt traces of his spirit there even today when I visit, and the outbreak of more violence by you and your rival gang on top of his sacred site likely brought out its rage to reawaken the strange events you describe. Galdron was a powerful man amongst our people, and a will such as that is not easily laid back to rest. Only by calming him once more can you restore balance to the Green Market.”
She ducks inside her home to return with six well-used ceremonial klar, which she holds out alongside the masterwork gift you presented to her.
”These blades are of import to my people’s culture: a single tool that can protect oneself while standing ready to fight back. Locate Galdron’s shrine in the Green Market. It is likely below the very center of the marketplace: even unknowingly spiritual forces are known to nudge the hands of architects. Once unearthed, place these in the shape of a star. The sign is traditional amongst the Shoanti, and should draw Greenheart’s spirit forth.”
"Know that when you uncover his shrine, Galdron will likely lash out at you as he did before. If he manifests with fire, he has forgotten that he left the Sklar-Quah, the Sun People. He wanted to be of all quahs and none - the Green Heart. You see, he left this world a man of peace, not a man of war. Your best hope might be to make him remember that, if not with words then steel if needed.."

![]() |

Rasamoro sits as the others do, listening to the Shoanti's story. While he is visibly uncomfortable hearing about this Greenheart, he seems to perk up a bit when she mentions steel may be a possible solution to this mess.
"Rasamoro do as you say. Rasamoro thank Telmayne for words. Does Telmayne know what spirit look like?"

GM Zoomba |

Telmayne shakes her head. "I do not know his appearance. You know how stories meander through the generations: even as the truth remains, the details splinter into a thousand different streams."

![]() |

"Oh my, that is a very sad tale indeed. Um, I think, and I mean, if you all disagree, then let me know, but I, I mean we, would like to help with this, I think."

![]() |

Agreed. Zhis is unfortunate, but we must help set zhings right.
Roland nods and wonders if they have to buy a couple more klars to make a star pattern.
With a bow to Telmayne.
Anything else you zhink would be helpful?

Buried in the wall o' text, but she has offered six klars, as well as the use of the one you already purchased.
"The heart of the shrine would likely have been an altar, made of stone or bone. The exact position of it, that I can not say."

"Is there way under market? Rasamoro need to dig hole? Rasamoro pray in market again? What is plan?"
Rasamoro is ready to go when you all are, but no rush!

Ajax smiles, "We might just speak with a rat or a mole. I have a wand to speak with animals."
Before we form the star pattern, Ajax will rebuff with his wands and ask someone to put Mage Armor on both he and Ara.

GM Zoomba |

With the klars in hand, the six of you make your way back into Korvosa and towards the Green Market. Walking in, the marketplace is just as busy as it was earlier that day. Despite this morning's 'incident', citizens happily roams the rows of stalls and laugh as they talk and barter with the sellers.
Zeeva notices your approach, and that each of you is bearing more weapons than you began with, and gives you a nod of acknowledgement. "Attention everyone!" she calls out loudly to the patrons as she moves through the structure. "I'm afraid we're going to have to close a little early today - a bit of...restoration work need to be done. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we should be open again bright and early tomorrow!" There is some light grumbling from the shoppers adnd vendors throughout the Green Market at this news, but they begin filing out without too much fuss. Zeeva then comes over to you.
"So, did you find out what is going on? Was Telmayne helpful?"

![]() |

"Yes, Ms. Foxglove. He told us of Gladron Greenheart, a shoanti hero, whose shrine still lingers within the Green Market. Telmayne thinks that the confrontation with the Aspis may have awakened the great hero - as well as his wrath. We now need to locate the altar indicating the location of the shrine, and perform a ritual to appease Greenheart's soul. Any insight on where to begin? Have you noticed anything unusual since you settled here?" asks the sylph.

![]() |

"Allow me, Ajax."
Theriahm will help anyone with wands needed to cast spells, as well as renew mage armor on himself and cast shield from wands moments before we complete the ritual with the klars.

GM Zoomba |

"Yes, Ms.
"Oh dear." Zeeva says as she strokes her cat. "No, I haven't seen anything that unusual here that I can recall. Not for Golarion anyway. Sure there's a small up and down of the business, but everything always seems to work itself out nicely. Every time in fact."
Miss Foxglove's eyes widen at the mention of an altar. "But that source. A shrine you say? Would this ritual have something to do with a star?" At the party's surprised expressions she looks around and continues a bit softer. "When I was cleaning up form the earlier mess, I had a flash of myself putting something in a pattern on a slab. I - well I don't talk much about it but I'm a bit of a witch you see. Sometimes I get visions, and I think this one was right around....here!"
She stands over and points to an otherwise unremarkable part of the floor. "If there's any old shrine, I have the feeling that it would be under there."
Between the floor and layers of dirt, it will likely take some time, over an hour, to unearth the shrine simply by digging (though Zeeva can lend you shovels and carts). If you have a different way of uncovering it faster, feel free to suggest it. Otherwise, I'll assume the old-fahsioned method of archaeology.

![]() |

Rasamoro has no other means of moving dirt and will grab a shovel and start digging unless someone has a better idea

![]() |

Sounds like zhe best place to start. Zhank you for zhe insight
Roland will also look for other ideas, and if none offered will look for a shovel or pick to start excavating.

GM Zoomba |

After a couple of hours of labor of going through first stone, then tightly packed dirt, 1d6 ⇒ 5 Roland heaves away another shovelful of soil only to partially reveal a strangely smooth piece of worked stone at his feet.
Working to fully uncover it, it is not long before a low stone altar is revealed. Solidly made but unadorned, underneath the altar lies a bare human skeleton. The remains of a rusted spear head penetrate its chest, with a shaft of rotted wood still attached.

![]() |

"Does anyone detect magic on that corpse? Perhaps we should consecrate it? And if no one has the spell, perhaps we get it on a scroll and cast it before we perform the ritual."
Ajax pauses for a moment...
"And yes, before we go any further, we should either acquire a communal protection from evil or buy the scrolls individually."

![]() |

Theriahm casts a spell and peers over the side of the hole.
casts detect magic
In addition to recasting mage armor (and ultimately shield), Theriahm will also cast life pact on any willing members of the group, before we begin the ritual.

![]() |

Ajax and Ara agree to the life pact. We should look at getting some Ghostbane Dirge spell as well. I hate fighting incorporeal creatures and it seems very obvious IC that we are going to be dealing with ghosts/wraiths/etc.

![]() |

During the harrowing work, Anáil takes some time to prepare another mutagen.
When the party seem to be ready to enact the ritual, Anáil approaches, and lends his help for it, after downing a series of extract since he expects mischief to manifest.
Accepting to partake in the life pact as well. Drinking my Dex mutagen, as well as extracts of heroism, false life (Temp Hp: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15), see invisibility, barkskin, comprehend languages, shield, and investigative mind.

![]() |

Rasamoro agrees to the life pact. Additionally, when we are about to start the ritual, he will cast Shield of Faith, Shield, Air Walk, and Divine Favor on himself. He has 2 castings of Protection from Evil that he will use on anyone who claims it. He is also willing to pass around his wand of Shield to anyone who can cast the spell (it is a self only spell). Idk if we have rested. If we have rested, he has 4 Protection from Evils to cast on anyone.
UMD for Wand of Shield: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23

![]() |

Whitwood will cast Evolution surge to grant My Friend an addtional slam attack, and cast heroism on My Friend as well.
Then retreat to a "Safe" distance.

![]() |

Ajax plans on using Ara to fight if incorporeal beings should arise, so he asks that protection from evil be cast on Ara. Right before the ritual, Ajax will give his scroll of protection from evil to someone to cast on himself. Ajax will also use his oil of Bless Weapon on Ara's teeth. Not to mention that Ajax is already gong to use his hour long buffs a few minutes before the other stuff. Finally, Ajax will cast Cat's Grace on himself and Ara one minute before performing the ritual (the second casting uses the Pearl of Power.
We also have the Force Shield ring or whatever. If no one in melee is going to use that, then Ajax will happily use it on himself, but I think whoever is using the ghost touch quarterstaff should use the force ring if not using Shield.

GM Zoomba |

You would NOT have rested from the morning, so only the two Protections Rasamoro.
With the alatar laid bare from the dirt under which it was buried, you carefully place the seven klars gifted by Telmayne into a star pattern upon the flat stone surface.
As the seventh weapon slides into place, a sense of dizziness suddenly begins to overtake you. The world around you appears to spin and melt away, with what remains starting to drain of color into a dull grey.
Please arrange yourselves on the map how you like. you have 1 round from the ritual's completion until something else may occur.

Anail seems struck with a sudden realization. "Interesting. I did not realize it at first when Telmayne explained the ritual, but I do recognize it now. The klars are arranged in the shape of a sihedron, the infamous rune of power of ancient Thassilon and its Runelords. It is also the symbol of the ancient goddess Lissala and also of the Azghat who once ruled this part of the world."
As the ritual starts, the sylph comments. "Even stranger fact. We are currently drifting from Golarion and towards the Ethereal plane."
With that roll, what do I know about the ethereal plane?
The investigator then unsheathes his rapier and stands ready, having a hunch that something bad is bound to occur.
In case there is a fight: I modified my initiative macro in the googledoc sheet to match my increase in Dexterity. Also, kindly remember that with Combat Reflexes I can make AoOs even if flat-footed.

GM Zoomba |

Anail, the Ethereal plane is similar to that of the Material, but things are more indistinct and reality more porous. You are invisible to those still on the Material, and actions you take cannot affect them (nor they you, with the exception of ghost touch weapons, force effects, and similar abilities).
As the world continues to shift around you as you transition between dimensions, the ghostly grey vision of the Green Market around you becomes at once dotted with larger trees, small hillocks, and other long-since disappeared landmarks occupying and overlapping the urban market. You notice Zeeva stare in amazement towards you - seemingly looking through you.
In a small clearing of sparse trees stands a solitary table of stone before a pool of clear water. A simple camp with a smoldering campfire and a large tent made from animal skins and wooden poles has been set up to the east. Superimposed over the idyllic landscape is a gray, ghostly image of the Green Market - its wagons, carts, and stalls seemingly untouched from a moment before. This image fades to mist approximately sixty feet away, revealing a great battle being fought further in the distance on all sides. Muscled men and woman clash with an armored legion - bravely struggling but slowly being overwhelmed.

You are correct Ajax
As the ranger looks around, the combatants around you grow fainter and fainter even as the screams and yells ring out. That noise comes to an abrupt halt as a booming voice echoes, it's strange resonance making it hard to identify an origin point.
They claimed I was a pacifist.
They are wrong. I was never a pacifist. But not all fighting is the answer, and not all battles are the right ones. The way forward for us was unity! The Azghat divided the quash in the time before memory but they were gone, the world had moved on. Each quah could still keep its honor without dividing our people against ourselves. So I renounced my old ways, the powers of the sun and of the flame, to walk the green path - be the Green Heart to show the way!
And for this I WAS A FOOL!

Ajax whispers to someone, "I think he needs a hug."
