I know, it's like these goblins didn't playtest their obstacle course at all!
Reta BB |
Reta grins devilishly at the obstacle course presented before her. "Me and Throne will finish first!" She says, selecting her mount. Reta drops her heavy breastplate before beginning, so that she will have full maneuverability. no armor penalty
Reta starts by leading her dog up toward the mud pit and giving it a kick start to jump. ride: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 13 - 5 = 16 one move action
Next, her dog continues forward up the ridge, using the momentum from his leap to boost him forward while Reta holds on easily. ride: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 13 - 5 = 12 one full round of movement
At the top of the ridge, Reta gleefully lets go of the reins and grabs her trusty dogslicer to cut the squash in half, splitting it vertically as she takes a huge underhand swing. ride: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 13 - 5 = 10 attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 261d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 one move action, one standard action

...but she celebrated a bit too soon. Reta falls off her goblin dog at the last possible moment, landing in bushes. fall damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Reta gets back up on her mount quickly and attempts the jump again. ride down: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 13 - 5 = 19ride jump: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (1) + 13 - 5 = 9 two move actions to mount, two to re-attempt

Reta is upset at her choking at the finish-line after an otherwise flawless run. She berates her dog severely before regaining calm.

Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
"Goog will win the day! Yous just wait!"
Goog jumps on his goblin dog named Jaws. "GO JAWS!!"
The dog moves forward, Goog awkwardly trying to tell it where to go with his knees. He heads toward the mud pit.
Ride: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 5 = 7 Move action.
Goog flies off and into the mud, of course.
The dog doubles back and Goog uses a move action to remount it and try again. Two move actions.

This time the dog easily jumps over. Move action.
Goog pushes the dog to run up the hill.

The dog climbs up, Goog clinging to him well. Full-round action.
At the top of the hill, Goog draws his sword and moves the dog toward the first squash.

4 move actions, a standard, and a full round.
GM Paladin |
Looks like Tom isn't joining us for this one. No worries, full speed ahead!
Mic brings his Douge in a hair's breadth before Mogmurch on Foob, and then the two laugh and throw mud and sticks at the others as they struggle to make it past the obstacles.
Munkle presents a jar to Mic, saying that it is an ointment that helps when you're hurt, poisoned, or sick, and tastes like bacon too. A jar of restorative ointment.
The next set of goblins, led by Poog and Goog's acolyte Trimple Rotmouth, prepared a bit of fun, to be accented with a whiff of burning and a taste of explosions. They have made a number of straw effigies representing some of your conquests, with six of the crude dummies fashioned into the shape of dogs, three of horses, and one particularly large creation somewhat resembles an ogre. The figures are arranged 10 feet from the low platform that you use when presiding over the tribe's events, and Trimple gives each of you a star candle firework.
"This game simple! Shoot the dogs, shoot the horses, shoot Pa Munchmeat! Each dog one point, each horse two, each time you hit Pa is one point."
You can light your candle and start shooting the fireworks off. Each star candle firework shoots a flaming ember once per round for 4 rounds. Make ranged attacks with a -6 penalty (-4 for non-proficiency and -2 for range). The dogs have an AC of 13, the horses have an AC of 10, and the ogre has an AC of 10. The dogs and horses can be hit only once for points, but the ogre can be hit multiple times for one point each. Please roll four attacks, and what target you're aiming for, right off, rather than waiting for the others, and we'll resolve it in init order. There's nothing stopping you from using spells, items, or extracts, and Mogmurch's mutagen is still in effect.

GM Paladin |
Please roll all four attacks.
Reta BB |
Reta takes the candle and then looks at her targets. "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy." She says. Reta's confidence has quickly returned after her loss in the last game.
First attack, at a horse: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 6 = 6
Second attack, at another horse: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 6 = 11
Third attack, at the ogre: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 6 = 4
Final attack, at the ogre: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (4) + 9 - 6 = 7
Reta seems more distracted by the pretty lights than even a goblin should be, after hitting one of the horse effigies, She stares at the flames so long that the next shot goes off at her feet. Reta throws the candle itself for the last shot, and still manages to miss her mark.
Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
Missing on the first one, Goog will then try for a "horse".
ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 6 = 16 A hit!
Then he tries for Munchmeat.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 6 = 7 A miss!
Trying again on Munchmeat.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 - 6 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 6 = 17 A hit!
Having hit twice, Goog strides away, overconfident that he has won by a longshot.
Burna |
Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 6 = 4 Mogmurch takes his first shot at the orge, missing horribly.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 6 = 4 Fourth shot misses the ogre he tried hitting again for an easy point.
Mic Chuffy |
Looking at his ointment, Mic misses the start of the 3rd event. Going to pick up the fireworks, he aims at horse
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 6 = 5
Seeing his firework going wide, he aims at a new horse.
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 6 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 6 = 24
Hits the second one with ease. He aims at the orge.
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 6 ⇒ (8) + 10 - 6 = 12
attack: 1d20 + 10 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 6 = 5
Hitting it once then missing again.
Poog the Sagacious |
Poog takes his turn and his shots.
He first hits a dog, guided by Zarongel, but then misses the rest of his attacks he is so excited from hitting the first.
ranged touch firework, guidance,-6 penalty: 1d20 + 5 - 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 6 + 1 = 17

The spectating goblins are a little annoyed that a few dogs remain unburnt, so they swarm the field and set them ablaze too.
Mogmurch and Poog tie with 3 points each. Trimple presents each of them with an elixir of hiding.
I'll post the next game tomorrow morning.
GM Paladin |
One of the Birdcruncher's favorite games is Killgull, where a rope is tied to the foot of a seagull, while the other end of the rope is held by a goblin. Other goblins hurl rocks at the bird, trying to knock it out of the sky, while the goblin holding the rope tugs and pulls on it to keep the bird from being hit.
Unfortunately, overzealous goblin cooks baked all the seagulls they had captured into one of the delicious bird pies you just finished. Fortunately, Dillbi Tenthumbs saved the day by capturing a vulture who had come down to steal garbage from the kitchen, and now this ugly bird has been substituted for the seagull.
A bag full of good throwing rocks is handed out to each of you. The rope is 30 ft in length, and after Dillbi releases it from the cage, the vulture flies up and tries to get away.
Range is 30 ft, so -4 for range, and -4 for an improvised weapon, except for Mogmurch. The rocks do 1d3+Str, and you have time to cast spells like Divine favor or whatever before you begin. Dillbi will be trying to make it harder to hit the vulture, by doing a DC 10 Dexterity check to add +2 to the vulture's AC. She'll be doing this every time you throw a rock, so I need you guys to roll these. Dillbi has a Dex of 14, so gets a +2 to the check. Each post, when you roll an attack, please also roll a Dex check for Dillbi. If the check fails to reach 10, the vulture's AC is 13, if it makes the check, it's 15. Also, if you roll a 1, she drops the rope, and hijinks will ensue.
Initiative order:
Mic
Goog
Poog
Mogmurch
Reta
Goog init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Mic init: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Poog the Sagacious |
Poog, still giddy from doing well in the last event, decides to even the playing field against some of the more skillful goblins. Trying not to be noticed, he casts a guidance spell on himself, but also another spell mixed in: hold person on Dillbi. This is just for kicks and to make this fun. The idea is to make it so I don't have another negative for the vulture moving. If that works, DC is 15 Will...if not, just ignore this and I'll roll the dex checks for the moving vulture.
Poog starts with two incredibly skillful throws, but then starts missing amid his premature celebrations.

No one objects as Poog casts a spell to paralyze Dillbi.
Round 1:
Mic: hits (2 damage, 2 total)
Goog: misses
Poog: hits (2 damage, 4 total)
Mogmurch: misses
Reta: hits (5 damage, 9 total, vulture is dead)
The assembled goblins groan in annoyance as Poog's spell and a few well-thrown rocks cause the vulture to quickly come falling to the earth, bloody and broken.
Not long after, Dillbi comes out of her trance. "You cast spell on me! Don't do that! See if I find a vulture for chiefs again."
She stalks off, fuming, after tossing a fist-sized chunk of off-white stone to Reta. It doesn't look terribly special, but maybe there's something magic about it.
After the swift conclusion to the game of Killgull, Mothmangler Munge steps up. "This next is the Legend of the Green Goblin King!" Munge begins telling a rather confused story about the appearance of a mysterious Green Goblin King at the court of a human lord, offering the chance to chop off his head as long as he, the Green Goblin King, had the opportunity to return the blow afterward. "So after the Green Goblin King's head rolled into the dirt, he picked it up, placed it back on his neck, and..."
"SQUEEEEEEEEE! SQUEEEEEEE! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
The sudden sound of squealing hogs interrupts the, frankly rather boring, story, as Squealy Nord and his mate Nora dash into the tribe's clearing.
As you recall, the two pigs were sent by their masters, the twins Poog and Goog, to help three goblins with the gathering of truffles at the Bestest Truffle Field. Now the two of them are beat up and bruised, dirty, and look very upset. Something must have gone wrong, but what? If only these pigs could talk!
Poog the Sagacious |
With the festive mood gone, Poog begins to gird himself in his armor.
"Poog not have time to look at rocks!" he says as he brushes Reta's prize aside. "Truffles in danger! We must protect truffles!"
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 sorry, not quite
With Squealy Nord circling and in distress, Poog casts a spell to figure out what is going on.
"Oink! Squeee! Oink!" Poog says to Nord, clearly expecting a response.

Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
"SQUEALY NORA! WHAT YOU DOING! GET OVER HERE! Oh... oh truffles in danger?! Okay stoopid gobs, let's go get truffles!"
Are Nord and Nora actually damaged? In either case, Goog will cast a few healing spells from his wand on himself to get back up to full before we move on.

Yes, but those will bring them back up to full.
"SQUEEEEEEE! SQUEEEE SQUEEEE SQUEEEEEEEEE! SQUEE-OINK! GRUNT! OINK OINK OINK GRUNT... OINK! SQUEEEEE!"

The goblins watching cheer "Hurray for chiefs! Chiefs go kill longshanks for trespassing! Hurray for chiefs!"
Reta BB |
Reta quietly nods at the rest of the group's suggestions, then smiles her enormous devilish smile and begins ululating her voice, with her sword held high. "Bring us the goblin dogs, we shall ride into battle!" Reta shouts to her followers.
Mic Chuffy |
Mic pulls out his dagger and starts to watch the light reflect from from it. "Trespassers will be stabbed."

Any preparations you'd like to make before heading off?

Ok, if you're bringing the goblin dogs with you, I'll need Handle Animal checks, DC 10, to get them to be stealthy while approaching the truffle field. If you bring Squealy Nord and Nora, I'll need the same, of course with Poog's and Goog's bonuses to their HA checks when affecting their companions.
The goblin chiefs (and their dogs if they bring them) approach the truffle field cautiously. From far away, they can see a campfire in a clearing just outside of the truffle field. They know that humans often have dogs, so they make sure the wind is blowing towards them as they near the site.
From a safe distance, they can see four humans sitting around the fire, one stirring a cooking pot, another slicing vegetables, and a third skinning rabbits. Three dogs sit nearby, waiting for a bit of rabbit meat to be dropped or thrown to them. Four horses graze at the edge of the clearing, tied to a highline between two trees.
Map updated. Need Stealth rolls from everyone, Handle animal rolls (these can be made by a single goblin if desired, and I'm open to giving bonuses for things you think could help with that), and any other preparations you wish to make.
Reta BB |
Reta tries her best to bring in her dog quietly, but she is very rough with him, and the goblin dog whimpers as he goes, rather than being quiet.
handle animal: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
Reta herself is quiet on the back of her dog, but it makes little difference. stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Since we're going in mounted, please look up the rules for mounted combat and use them appropriately. I.e. Ride checks if you guide with your knees, get wounded in combat, or want your mount to attack as well as you. If you have a high enough bonus that you succeed on a 1, you don't have to roll, but keep in mind any modifiers to the situation. I will assume you had the Birdcrunchers saddle your goblin dogs before riding off.
GM Paladin |
Poog and Mic, need to know if you're riding, ride checks if you are, and stealth checks. Tomorrow I'll roll them if you haven't already.
