Gwen rushes forward with the others, but stops when they all handle the situation with ease. "Urbar, are you okay?! She lets out a sigh of relief at his typically grumpy reply. "We really need to be more careful now. I suggest we start checking the hallways and doors much more thoroughly before we move through. It works out well that Urbar and I have the best eyes in the group."
A suggestion that we start Taking 10 on Perception at all times and then when Nighttail indicates traps we spend the extra time to Take 20...

Tereze notices Ery's accusing look as he holds up his wet cloak.
What? He was in pain!
She then grimaces as her arms start to blister.

"Oh Gwen, your eyes have always had me believe!"
Ery joking wrapped himself into a hug before raising a brow to Tereze.
"Of course he was in pain...fire does that...but why did you just have flame scarring?"
He asked looking to the Oracle's freshly healed arms.
| StephNyan |
Eryzule's clumsy attempt to smother the fire isn't helping, but Fiona manages to smother the fire by throwing Urbar on the ground and rolling him around. Tereze then drops a couple of gallons of water of Urbar, just to make sure nothing continues to smolder.
Urbar's face: "It's not like I needed you to put out the fire! Hmpf!"
The hallway meanwhile continues to burn a happy, bright orange.

Urbar finally finishes wringing most of the water from his clothes and bandaging the smaller wounds.
"Any more of that water, Tereze?"
Tereze Amnell

Tereze looks abashed.
Sorry, Urbar zat hurt a lot and I just reacted.... I did not mean.... I... Oh here does zis help?
She closes her eyes and a golden cloud fills the area soothing away everyone's aches and pains.

HEALED! BOOM...also, Ery is Dangerous?
Urbar Anden

Urbar looks really confused at Tereze.
"I don't understand..."
He shrugs and changes topic.
"The path in front of us is still on fire, could you use more water?"

Quikly, sense motive on his last words. ;)
Everything happened quickly.
Locke smiled mildly.
Brings sweet memories..."
"Miss Fiona, for someone who appears so reserved, you sure can shove a heavily packed man to the ground quickly. Is there some hidden strength behind the scenes?"
Tereze Amnell
|
I zought you were talking about about being w.... Oh... Ze Fire, yes of course.
As she calls forth more water to put out the flames she thinks:
Why am I letting him fluster me so much?
| StephNyan |
The moment Tereze drops several gallons of water on top of the burning oil, the flames abruptly become several times larger. Everyone dies in an inferno of fire!
Water on hot oil.
Okay, I know it's not a pot with oil you're dropping the water onto, but oily walls and an oily floor. The effect will probably be a bit different, but I expect there will still be a noticeable increase in the size of the flames for just a second or two.
Luckily everyone had by now taken a safe distance from the fire, and no one's harmed. Several minutes later there's no more oil to burn and the flames die.
I'm giving you a chance to react, and then we'll move on to the final room! ;)
Eryzule, Lord of Tea
|
Ery, while watching the flames, simply places a kettle upon the burning oil, holding in place with mage hand? Where did he get the water you ask? His cloak!
Whislting casually, the elf adds a tea bag of gnomish origin and waits for it to steep.
"I figured...Y'know...we have the time..." Ery said allowed. With a hot kettle hovering over his right palm, The repackages his kit (Save for the kettle and the cup now filled and held with his left hand) And looks about.
After a slurp... "Ready when you are." he says behind his cup.
Gwendallyn
|
Gwen instinctively jumps back with a gasp when the flames roar higher than before! "Oh my!" She watches to see what the others will do...
Gwen is not afraid to grapple anything... other than things on fire. She does not like fire.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea
|
A cup of tea floats over to Gwen, Ery raises a brow.
Tereze Amnell
|
I wondered what you would do about the oil and water thing... I was well aware of what would happen, but I didn't think Tereze would have any idea so.... Of course you can put out an oil fire with water. See the 4 minute mark of this ;)
Ayyeee....
She jumps back then calls forth more water as the flames erupt before her. She summons more water and forces it out.
Fiona Nic Cathár
|
"Miss Fiona, for someone who appears so reserved, you sure can shove a heavily packed man to the ground quickly. Is there some hidden strength behind the scenes?"
Fiona blushes at Locke's comment, then answers with a soft voice. "I... I just did what was needed to be done. I couldn't leave Urbar to burn. I managed to do it only because he didn't resist."
Gwendallyn
|
Gwen laughs at Ery's off and gladly accepts the offered cup, taking a sip. "How did I end up with such enigmas as you all?" She grins while looking around at her companions, her friends.
Urbar Anden
|
Same for Urbar, he wouldn't know about oil fire :)
Urbar's eyes widen at the sight of the flames.
"We'll have to keep that in mind..."
Seeing Ery comfort Gwen his eyes narrow.
Have to think of something for that...
Locke "Firebug" Arkham

Gwen is not afraid to grapple anything... other than things on fire. She does not like fire.
...bombs do explode with fire damage by default.... :)
"A pity there wasn't any soil to toss onto the fire, that would have cut off the oxygen.
So now we have just one place left to go to, right?"
Maybe i would know...due to alchemy...Fiona has that too, right?
She'd know.
Eryzule, Lord of Tea
|
Ery uses the only coping mechanism he has... Abject Tea!
"So... Shall we get through there then be done with this musty place?"
Despite comforting Gwen, Ery's eyes fixate on the cup in her hand. He had only prepped one after all...and there it was...slowly being taken from him. He was torn.

Once the fire's gone you head into the tunnel. At the top of the rough-hewn steps at the end of the tunnel is a large cave, the floor strewn with fresh straw. The bones of many different creatures, animal and humanoid both, hang on the walls. Two boulders bisect the cave, obscuring what the other half holds.
A green-scaled kobold stands in front of the boulders, puffs out his chest and addresses you in Common with an imperious voice. "You think you can trespass in the lair of the Blood Vow Tribe with impunity? I am Roaghaz, and I serve the great Lord Aeteperax! He rewards his supplicants for ferocity and faithfulness. We shall add your bones to those hanging on these walls, and our great lord shall sup on your flesh!"

@Locke: I guess I'll let it be the action that starts combat.

Four more kobolds, who all look like the ones you've fought before, move out from behind the boulders. Meanwhile Roaghaz mumbles something along the lines of, "Damn adventurers are too impatient these days..."

Locke walks closer, speaking to the cold blooded kobolds.

Tereze ignores the pain and hits the last standing kobold's head. The kobold drops to the cave's floor.
Considering Roaghaz technically captured and can't do anything worthwhile...
Combat's over!
"Lord Aeteperax will avenge me!" Roaghaz yells at you in Common. "His might knows no bounds! Death and destruction await all of you!"
Nighttail moves up to Roaghaz. "No, he won't! Couldn't you see he just used you?! You are unfit to be a chief, Roaghaz! I will take over here!"
"You filthy phlac! You will pay for this! You will! The Lord will come back and ki...! AHHHH!!!!"
Roaghaz's scream fills the cave when Nighttail lets her companion sink its sharp teeth in his neck. A snapping sound follows, and the now former chieftain's body goes limp.

Gwen gasps as the dinosaur's teeth suddenly latches onto the chief's neck still wrapped up by her. She tosses the limp body away and looks up at Nighttail with a glare. "Next time, perhaps let me get him away from me before you sick your pet on his neck." She dusts herself off and stands. "What now?"
Locke "Firebug" Arkham
|
"We wait for Urbar to finish searching the lower half of the kobold.
Since the little dino seems to have eaten the head and part of the neck.
Assuming Nighttail doesn't call dibs on anything he has on him, chief related formalities and all."
Gwendallyn
|
Gwen scoffs. "We did all the hard work. Whatever loot we find is ours by right, but I have no issues with providing Nighttail with a portion of the gains for her aide as well. And as a binding agreement to leave alone the people of the nearby village." She looks at the kobold and waits to hear whether she finds the pact agreeable.
Locke "Firebug" Arkham
|
"I'm not contradicting that sentiment. I was rather referring to anything related to being chief. You know, the symbol of being in charge, like a crown of sorts or decorative weapon."
Gwendallyn
|
Gwen looks a little abashed at Locke's reply, looking away when she blushes. "Oh. Yeah, that makes sense..." Gwen wasn't unintelligent by any means, but around Locke, Fiona, and even Ery... She felt stupid sometimes compared to their intellect.
