"They can always consider joining us as well, that way we'll have a higher chance of removing Roaghaz and they'll stay alive rather than get slaughtered. Careful Nighttail, if you don't start reasoning with them now you might end up being chief of a tribe of one," Fiona quietly points out.

Nodding, Ery slowly making his way to the rope leading down.
with a blank look on his face, the elf thrusts a finger a the rope with viscious impunity, Elven words spew from him with rapid and hard emphasies.
Ery attempts a rapid climb...
Climbing like a fool: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
He does so...to his own amazement.
"Yes! I have conquered the one thing in the damn pit that I can handle! Praise me!" He shouts back up the hole with a joy... He mumbles to himself there after...

![]() |

Urbar collects his fallen weapon and sheathes both his swords. He makes his way to the rope and shoots down at an amazing speed. Upon hearing Ery's words he grins.
"What are you mumbling about eh? It is impossible!"
He laughs, not holding back.
Climb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

![]() |

"What is it the humans say...Challenge Accepted!"
He says to Urbar once he below.

![]() |

Urbar grins, fishing a coin out of his pouch. Holding up the platinum coin in his left hand he reaches out his right hand for Ery to shake.
"Want to make a bet on it? I say you won't succeed within the year."

![]() |

"I accept."
Ery nods, grasping his hand.
"Within the year."

![]() |
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Fiona narrows her eyes at Urbar and Eryzule's conversation but says nothing and instead tries to climb down the shaft. She misplaces one of her legs however and spends about a minute trying to calm herself.
Climb down: 1d20 ⇒ 12

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 4
The sight of the hole ahead of her consumes her thoughts and Tereze never even heard what the boys are whispering below.
Finally she looks at Gwen.
Gwen, I'm not very good at climbing. I almost didn't make it down last time.... But I have a rope. Can I tie the rope around me and give you the other end so that if I slip I don't fall all the way down?
Assuming Gwen agrees, Tereze puts her buckler away and ties the rope around herself handing the other end to Gwen.
Then she tries to climb down:
climb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
And promptly slips into the hole without ever getting a good grip on the rope.
oh well hope the fall damage isn't too much or that the rope thing works.

![]() |

Reflex to grab Tereze's hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Str check to lift?: 1d20 ⇒ 16
In a moment of clarity, Locke steps quickly forward, to grab Tereze's hand, and tries to lift her up so she can try again.
Hopefully Steph will allow it..

StephNyan |

@Ery: You keep track of the in-game time that passes, so I expect you to remember the bet by the time a year's passed! :P
Locke quickly grabs Tereze's hand while Gwendallyn pulls the rope around Tereze's waist. Gwendallyn then lowers Tereze carefully.
Considering Gwen can just take 10 I'll move you past this.
Gwendallyn also lowers Locke and, once she's calmed down, Fiona. She then climbs down without a sign of effort, and returns the rope to Tereze. Nighttail lets her buddy Hak jump down the hole once you've all moved away from the rope.
You now find yourselves in a small cave with two separate tunnels leading north.

![]() |

Still having the coin in his hand Urbar flips it. He pockets the coin and draws his weapons whilst heading to that entrance.
"You have any other idea, Nighttail?"
1=left 2=right: 1d2 ⇒ 2

![]() |

"Right it is!"
Ery pats Urbaron the back, casting Guidence...to be safe.
"Go, deadly dervish!"

StephNyan |

Nighttail shrugs. "It doesn't matter, they lead to the same cave."
Just wanted to give you a moment to post stuff after you'd climbed down :P
The ceiling at the center of the cave you end up in is twelve feet high. A crude idol stands in the middle of the cave, decorated with grisly strips of dried viscera.
A red-scaled kobold in robes, holding a staff with a red orb on top of it, stands next to the statue. On both sides of the kobold stands a skeleton.
"Who the heck are you?" the kobold ask while turning around.

![]() |

Locke casually translates it.
"He's asking who the f*ck we are."
"Travelers, lost, who are you?"
If the kobold still shows hostility, and Ery can't coerce it into cooperation...
Locke's head turns slightly to Urbar.
"Are your blades still thirsty?"

![]() |

Nighttail, this is your chance to recruit an ally before Urbar does what he does

![]() |
"We are adventurers, who are here to solve a problem with a certain tribe of kobolds," Fiona says, seemingly unaware that the talking part of the encounter will not last for long.

![]() |

Urbar waits for the talking to be done.
"Let's see if this talking works."
To be sure he readies an attack, should the man or the skeletons attack.
Atk: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 - 2 = 12
Dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Atk: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 2 = 17
Dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

![]() |

Tereze readies a channel energy in case the skeletons attack. She would trigger it as soon as one skeleton becomes aggressive and both are in the burst.
Channel positive Energy(DC15): 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

![]() |

"Well now..."
Ery readies Thunderstomp, Targeting the kobold necromancer, if he becomes agressive.

StephNyan |

The following's all in Draconic, but I assume Locke will translate for all of you.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Nighttail moves forward and tries to converse with the red kobold, but the red kobold cuts her off. "I didn't ask you, I know who you are!"
The red kobold turns to Locke. "I'm Churgri, priestess of Vapula! What is this problem with the chieftain?"

![]() |
"We're here to negotiate with him, O great priestess, on some issues concerning the human villagers nearby. Could you help us with that? We could really use your help," Fiona says quietly, ending her brief talk with a beckoning tone.
Fiona casts a Charm hex as she speaks (DC 15 vs. Will or improve attitude by one step).

![]() |

Gwen whispers to Urbar. "You handle the skeletons, I'll deal with the priestess. Perhaps we could use her to our advantage. Try not to kill her."

![]() |

Urbar nods, not taking his eyes off of the enemies.

![]() |

"Fiona, you're addressing a kobold who's into necromancy -great-?"
"This rather you cue, ser Ery. I doubt a multitude of vocals coming from a single person is too reassuring to a total stranger...i've seen the looks before."

![]() |

"Well...I could do that...OR... We just do as we do normally. I tried this already. I got stabbed. I think we should tie the necromancer up. Have Nighttail deal with her later."
"Besides, Fiona's lovely voice is handling the situation."
Ery paused a moment. Then spoke up toward the priestess in draconic.
"We're a diplomatic team sent by, as the lovely Fiona has said, the human village near by. As you may have noticed, we are no above hostile negotiation and if need be, we will continue to send shock waves of ruin and loss among the remnants of your people. Allow us and your leaders to talk and perhaps we can come to an accord."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

StephNyan |

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
The red kobold snarls at Fiona when the charm hex fails, but Eryzule's words calm her down again.
"The kobolds in this tribe are fools. I don't get why they don't abandon this dirty hole in the ground for a proper lair, like that of the Hangtooths! Instead Chief Roaghaz has gone mad and abandoned his faith, to revere this "Aeteperax," which I believe is merely a fabrication."
"I want to remove Roaghaz from power and takes his position," Nighttail speaks up. "If you help us remove him, I will make sure the tribe fate in Vapula is restored!"
"Hmm... I like the proposal, but I don't like the possible consequences for me in case your attempt at a coup fails. What about the following? I let you pass and pretend I've never seen you pass. I simply wasn't here. When you succeed in defeating Roaghaz, come talk to me. I will back your claim to the tribe, Nighttail, if you agree to restore the tribe's fate in Vapula."
The kobold priestess turns to Eryzule. "And when Nighttail is the new Chief I, the spiritual leader of this tribe, will gladly take part in whatever diplomatic negotiations you came for."

![]() |

Ery simply nods.
"Agreed. Now, a chief needs killing.

![]() |

Seeing that the woman is still not aggressive towards the group Urbar lowers his swords.
"We sure about this? Don't want her to bite us in the ass when we reach the chief..."

![]() |

Have some faith in others Urbar. If Locke says it is safe I trust him.
Shall we continue?

![]() |

"Onward."
Ery shifts through, nodding to the priestess as he meanders by. He stops at the cave's next corridor.
"Yeah, we know that this place is going to be combat heavy. Urbar, Muscles... I think this is your favorite part."
Ery nods toward the cave network ahead of him.

StephNyan |

"Take the tunnel to the left," the kobold priestess says as you're about to move on. "Beware, there's an inferno trap."
Assuming you also trust her on that:
You walk into the tunnel ahead, which splits into two tunnels. The tunnel to the right has another grate that blocks passage. You head into the tunnel to your left, which twists and turns like a slithering snake.

![]() |

Percetion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The trap is obviously not there.
"Huh. I know their is a trap...but I do not see the trap..."
Ery follows behind Gwen.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Should we go slowly just to be sure we find it?

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Urbar walks on, oblivious of the trap and walks right into it. He freezes the moment his foot hits something and is engulfed in flames. He lets out a pained scream.
Well... Only one thing for it and I hope this doesn't kill me...

StephNyan |

@Locke: No, nothing roll-able.
No one's able to see the trap, and Urbar walks straight into it.
A dozen vials of alchemist's fire hidden against the ceiling drop down into the room, igniting oil that you only now notice covers the walls and floor of the entire hall. The entire hall's turned into a fiery tube, causing Urbar to catch on fire.
Fire damage from trap: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
"Holy cow!" Nighttail exclaims while watching the burning ranger. "That would've killed any kobold! How's he still standing?!"
Urbar will take 1d6 additional fire damage per turn. Therefor we'll move in turns till the flames covering his body have been extinguished.
Round 1:
Eryzule 10/13HP
Fiona 17/20HP
Gwendallyn 25/29HP (+2 to AC and +2 to saves until she's hit)
Locke
Tereze 22/26HP
Urbar 16/28HP & 1NL
Nighttail
@Fiona: How long does that hex of yours stay on Gwen?

![]() |

"Urbar is a tough bastard!" Ery shouts back to Nighttail.
Taking his cloak from his shoulders (But not so aimless to toss his tea case) the elf begins to smother the fire from Urbar.
"Don't melt you crazy human bastard! Don't melt!"
Smothering the flames with dex?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

![]() |
@Steph: Until she takes damage or fails a saving throw.
Fiona watches Urbar go up in flames and tries to do her best to smother the fire by pushing Urbar to the ground and rolling him around, trying to avoid getting burned.
Dex throw: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

![]() |

As the others rush forward near the fire, Tereze stands straight and prepares herself for the pain to come.
Life link: -5 HP to Tereze, + 5 HP Urbar[/b]
Letting out a slight gasp as her arms go red she moves forward. Once she sees what is happening, she closes her eyes and focuses.
She who guides ze wind and waves,
Send your power zis man to save!
As she finishes a downpour of water falls over Urbar soaking Ery's cloak and hopefully starting to douse the fire on around him.
[ooc] Casts Create Water: 6 gallons.

![]() |

Ery pulls up, looking over his drentched and burnt cloak. He sighs, looking over to Tereze.
"Oh. Well. Yes, that."

![]() |

That... Was totally worth it xD
After a mere second Urbar is wrapped in a cloak, thrown to the ground, rolled around and drenched in water.
Reflex full round: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 2 = 13 Without aid, with bonus from rolling and without 6 gallons of water.
Assuming the fire is doused by the 'shower', rolling and throwing
He looks really disorientated as he eventually get to his feet. Whilst taking off his boots and pouring the water from them on the ground he looks at the party.
"Well... I'll have to thank you, don't I..."
He puts his boots back on and is wrenching his cloak, glancing away from concerned eyes.
"Thanks... I guess..."
