Mogmurch the Alchemist |
"Oh noes. Is that a crows nest? Last time they had treasure but now they maybe have crows! Mogmurch must be brave."
Mogmurch walks over to the nest in look for treasure and to find out what kind of bird lives here.

How many goblinses would be needed to push one out of place?

One really strong one...more will help though
As Chuffy quietly climbs on the roof he sees 2 vultures sitting in a nest in the middle of the roof...they watch him with eyes like...well an vulture, but they are not making any agressive movements....for now.
Mogmurch sneaks towards the nest..as he get's closer he sees that what ever is inside the nest is HUGE (large sized actually) and it's moving around sniffing the air.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
As he gets close enough to have any idea what's inside there he hears an throaty and eager roar of “MNARRRRRR!”, and a huge bear with the head of an owl bursts out of the hay, scattering small pieces of hay and dust everywhere 1d6 ⇒ 3 Every space under the house counts as being under obscuring mist for now

LEEEEERRRRRRRO...oh, Reta already here. Need longer charge next time.
It's a stabby party, and you're invited: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Chuffy Licklots |
Chuffy moves to the edge of the roof so he has a line of sight at the owlbear but tries to stay hidden. He loads his handcrossbow so he can fire it soon.

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Reta draws the attention of the large angry owlbear by poking it where it hurts
Chuffy sneaks to the edge of roof, crossbow at the ready.
The owlbear takes a step close to Mogmurch and erupts in a flurry of attacks

He misses Mogmurch with one swipe of it's big claw..but Reta is not so lucky, first it get's near enough to Reta with it's beak to take a chunk of flesh out of her....and with it's other claw it slashes through the dust and hay and manages to get it's nails deep into Reta's flesh
So 20 (10+10) damage for Reta and grabbed

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Reta just barely manages to get any kind of movement in the claw..but not enough to free herself
Chuffy shoots an arrow into the owlbear hitting it in a painful place while revealing his location.
You don't have precise shot , so that's a -4 for shooting into melee..but you get +2 for shooting from stealth..so you still hit

Mogmurch throws a bomb hitting the owlbear I recently found out that Mogmurch has the discovery to leave friendlies out of his splash damage if he hits his target..so going to assume he doesn't want to blast Reta ;) in response it let's go of Reta
Poog throws his javelin at the owlbear..but it bounces of it's tough hide.

Reta almost get's swiped by a huge claw..but due to the dust it's just barely swooshes over her head
Being a bit nice here ..since I could have done something way nastier here...but as a warning....that won't last for ever

Chuffy Licklots |
Chuffy tries to hide again from the Owlbear so he can shoots it again with suprise effect. from the roof I can hide from his sight by moving back, doing the stealth and moving back right? He probably gets a perception chance versus that stealth roll.
stealth: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29
sneaky pew: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
pew dmg: 1d3 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + (4, 2) = 7
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The way I understand it..yes..but you can't attack that round then. It's a move action to get away from his line of sight and go into stealth..and then a move action to get back so you're able to fire again. You could do it with one move if you're hidden in something like bushes..but that doesn't work since your in an open space. I think you can it in one round if you bluff (for distraction) him ..but you're roll isn't high enough for him to be distracted by it.
And there's this:
Sniping
If you've already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location.
But with a -20 penalty you're not going to make it.
So either you stealth this round..or you attack
Reta Bigbad - Caro Cogitatus |
Thanks for the easy handling, GM. Reta's attack was not the best tactical choice, but it was the one I think her personality suggests (she "loves taking risks in combat to scare her enemies").
Reta, seeing that the bear-owl has an iron grip, tries to hack at its arm with her dogslicer.
Slicies!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Ummm, GM? Reta is pretty sure it's pronounced "bear-owl". Duh!
Chuffy Licklots |
Ok I will wait till next round. You can make my attack that I rolled for then.
After shooting the Owlie again, Chuffy moves back to get ready to hide again.

Going to NPC Mogmurch in so we can move forward
Mogmurch takes a step back looks at one of the gourds he took from the necklace from the fierce boar and decides..why not. He pops it into his mouth and he feels a warm sensation run up his belly...unable to keep it in he burps it out..all over the owlbearowl....
15ft cone of fire, with just the owlbear in it, 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9Reflex save owlbear: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
The owlbear dodges some of the flames and decides to attack you annoying goblins again 1r2m: 3d2 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) = 5 his first attack goes for Reta before it takes a step toward Mogmurch and unload against him.
claw 1 vs Reta: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
claw 2 vs Mogmurch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27damage vs Mogmurch: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Grab vs Mogmurch: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
bite vs Mogmurch: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
It misses Reta..but manages to hit Mogmurch full with a claw..but isn't able to get hold of him...and it's beak snaps shut just above Mogmurch's head.
Chuffy sneaks forward and shoots at it with his little crossbow (it also takes a move action to reload a crossbow btw....just remembered) hitting it in the back.

Thanks, Moggie. You save Reta from being squishied.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
can Chuffy stealth from the two birds? He wants to get rid of them so he can inspect the roof
You can try..but they can see where you are, so you'd have to bluff them so they are distracted so you can sneak away to some place with cover. But so far they are just watching you and haven't made any agressive movements..other then when you we're moving around on the roof and came closer to them. So if you just move away from them, it doesn't seem like they would attack you.
Reta Bigbad - Caro Cogitatus |
Reta inspects the wood that's shoring up the north wall.
Is it supporting the wall? How many goblinses (*without* help from bear-owls!) would it take to push one out?
Revvy Bitterleaf |
As Reta is looking at the wood near the north wall she notices half a dozen very large eggs hidden under the hay.
Just pushing....a lot, very strong ones..maybe if you make a successful knowledge engineering check you could figure out where to weaken some of the beams so that it might collapse...or you can just try to set fire to the entire thing..it's meant to hold up a building that's ogre sized
Reta Bigbad - Caro Cogitatus |
Good, Moggie, but waits...Reta founds some bear-owl eggses. Could be valuable! Help Reta carry (roll?) them to safety.
How long will that take, being stealthy?
Chuffy Licklots |
Chuffy takes out a piece of meat to grab the vultures attention and tosses it towards the corpse of the owlbear.
bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Chuffy moves up and cuts the distracted/last vulture with his flaming doglicer.
slicey: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
dicey: 1d4 - 1 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) - 1 + 1 + (3, 1, 2) = 7 Should be 8 total, really need those 3 d6 for dmg it seems :P
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Both vultures go after the thrown piece of meat and start to eat away at the owlbear corpse
But Chuffy can't sneak up on them right now, he's still on the roof and the vultures are on the floor. It's going to take a few rounds to get close enough to them to be able to do that ..climb at 1/4th speed..sneak halves that again...If you want and the rest doesn't do anything we can start combat with the vultures..but it's going to take a while for you to sneak up on them
Chuffy Licklots |
Seeing that the vultures will be busy for a while Chuffy ignores them and inspects the roof stealthily to see if there is some way to inspect its inhabitents.
stealth: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (3) + 23 = 26
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Reta Bigbad - Caro Cogitatus |
Reta will quietly roll the eggs away from the house about 10 feet, enough that if the house collapses it's unlikely to crush them. She'll leave them in plain sight if she can find or dig a hollow where they'll sit and not roll away.
Reta Bigbad - Caro Cogitatus |
If Reta sees Poog (or anyone else) using the trapdoor, she'll stop rolling eggs and join them.
