I am a bit confused, what is grabbing the main plant creature? Are they attacking each other?

![]() |

Sorry, I try not to look at your hidden rolls but I wasn't sure if you included it. Did Marduk get an AoO? I mentioned Hugo was going to get a whack if he insisted on closing to touch me.

![]() |

Marduk did not get an AoO. Go ahead and take it if that's what you'd do in this case.
@Urko: Yes. These things are feral; when their tempers get up they go into a killing frenzy. I was tempted to not have them attack another plant creature, but at the time that felt too meta.

![]() |

If nothing else, Marduk thinks Hugo is under some kind of compulsion.
I assume that spell was some kind of untyped damage. Did the damage from blue take stoneskin into account?
Finding the cleric ignoring his order, Marduk assumes the worst and clubs him as he closes to deliver his unknown spell.
AoO (heroism, giant, nonlethal): 1d20 + 24 + 2 + 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 24 + 2 + 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 = 37
Nonlethal Damage: 2d6 + 22 + 3 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 22 + 3 + 9 = 40
Will: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 24
Wracked with pain by Hugo's spell, Marduk finds his fears confirmed. Unwilling to allow himself to be surrounded again, he backs up to make some space and then blasts the remaining kyton with a volley of fiery rays.
Moving back which provokes. Quickened scorching ray.

Ranged Touch vs Blue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Fire Damage: 4d6 + 14 ⇒ (6, 3, 2, 1) + 14 = 26
Standard action pending the result of the AoO and the quickened spell.

Sensing that her long life may be (finally) nearing its forlorn conclusion, Agata pauses to reminisce about bygone days beneath the great span of the bridge in Magnimar, long before she ever became a finder of paths. "Aye, 'twas no easy life there, I'll tell you that much, yet somehow we made do, me and me l'il bunny Sweet Pea. Ah, me oh my, we didna let it get us down, not even if we could find nary a spot for a bit o' shuteye, not us, oh no..." She is startled out of her reverie by the recollection that the loathsome surgeons still loom before her. "N' I'll tell ya this much... if poor ole Agata ain't give up just cuz some Magnimarian high-n-mighties o' Underbridge sez she's a bit smelly, well ye best bet yer britches she ain't rollin' over fer some ugly spawn o' Zon-Kuthon..."
Stepping five feet closer to the Green lad in order to ensure that the Purple chap can share in her benevolence, she boldly (yet defensively), casts a spell, once again adding a pinch of Dweomer's Essence.

@Marduk: you are missing a Will save vs an unknown effect, an SR check versus Mr Happy in blue, and the damage you took was force damage but bypassed your stoneskin (that's as much as you can tell about that). I did take into account your stoneskin for both sources of damage (you can take off another from your stoneskin. Make the will save first and I'll allow for a retcon of that swift if the effects of it being made would change it.
As Marduk tries to bash Victor away, he feels a strangeness to how the flat of his blade comes into contact with the venture-captain's flesh.
@Agata: You and Sweet Maud owe me 3 Will Saves against auras that will determine whether or not you even are able to cast the spell.
Nalshene's will barely manages to overcome the kyton's aura. Narshala however, does not.
@Nalshene: Narshala is staggered for the next round.

![]() |

Hugo watches as the purple garbed outsider circles around.
It appears they are trying to separate us further from our allies.
Hugo delays until effects of spell (or not spell) are determined.
Also, I may have missed it, did Hugo need to use his divine interference on Agata last round or was she ok due to other boons? I need to know if he has his immediate/swift available.
He nods to Agata
Edit: Does Hugo need saves as well? None were listed, but he is within 30' or is it a targetted effect?

Averting gaze, high is good for Agata, green: 1d100 ⇒ 61
Averting gaze, high is good for Agata, yellow: 1d100 ⇒ 63
No will saves required, I believe, at least this round.
Agata calls out to Venture Captain Hugo, "Do be a dear and wait just a moment while I cast this spell. I may ask a favor of you, once I see how it turns out!"
Will roll the gaze attacks for Sweet Mawd when I get to her turn.
EDIT: just saw Hugo's post: your divine interference was NOT needed due to the crit was negated by the Ill Omen that was on Green.

Sweet Mawd |

Btw, it looks like Sweet Mawd is 35' feet from Yellow. Do you still need a Will save vs the gaze from it?

Nalshene sighs as Narshala freezes in apparent fear of the creature. "You really are a nuisance, aren't you?"
She decides to try to quickly get rid of the creature, casting disintegrate on it. She'll toss a bit of dweomer's essence as she's casting, increasing the save DC. If it's still alive after that, she'll also cast a Quickened shadowy fireball.

@Nalshene, I think Dweomer's Essence boosts your SR check, not the save DC. Is there possibly some other component that you are thinking of? If there is something that does that I would love to know about it...

![]() |

Yeah, dweomers essence does SR, I would be similarly interested if there was an alchemical item which boosted DCs

One of the surgeons manages to get out of the way of the incoming stormbolts, while the other takes them head on. Meanwhile, Nalshene attempts to disintegrate her opponent, remembering at the very last moment to add a pinch of dweomer's essence. And a good thing she did, as it is barely enough to bypass the creature's natural resistance to spells. In spite of how clumsily the spell is aimed, the kyton is clumsier, and it vanishes into fine dust which is quickly caught by Silver Mount's many air ducts.
@Marduk (and others): I thought something was fishy when you took another round of actions and I've figured it out: you had already taken a round's worth of actions for turn 10. You moving and blasting the Kyton would be your actions for round 11 sans a swift. I am more than happy to proceed with those actions entered into the log, although if/when Nalshene comes around the blue kyton would still be up, and I expect actions to be taken with that in mind. However, in all fairness, given the information you have Marduk perhaps that blast isn't the best thing. Let me know, and let's take some of those pending move actions!
Edit:Sweet Maud only needs to save against those Kytons she is within 30 ft of.

![]() |

Hrm. Did I jump the gun at some point? That scorching ray was a swift so I should have a standard this round still. Also, hasn't 'Hugo' jumped the gun as well if he managed to move adjacent and deliver a touch attack this round?
Edit:I definitely jumped the gun. Marduk will still want to finish off blue so the move + swift will still apply. I'll wait until Marduk is actually up to post some kind of standard action.

![]() |

Greatsword still in hand, Hugo looks at the result of the stormbolts and back to Agata.
I was hopeful they would have fared less well. What is the favor you ask?
Hugo continues to delay until Agata responds with her request. He is not thinking this will go as well.

![]() |

Was the Purple surgeon completely unaffected by the stormbolts? It was in range but perhaps its SR is higher than 23...
Btw, what is your view on outsiders and slumber? The bestiary describes them as able to sleep but not needing to, which I've always interpreted as being immune, but it occurs to me that perhaps I'm wrong (particularly since that wasn't in the list of immunities you gave when we first encountered them). It will take some good luck for Agata to still be alive next round, but if she is then it's an option that I should consider (and should have considered before this if they are not immune!)
"Aye, Cap'n Hugo, 'twas not the result ole Agata were hopin' for, that be true enuf. I had in mind to ask ye fer a mite bit o' healin', but with this Green bugger standin' in me face, it's probably best to see if p'raps ye can take him down yerself? Me maid, Sweet Mawd, must be around here somewhere an' I'll ask her to attend to me. She always carries a scroll o' heal with her, though I hope she remembers how to read it, I've learned her her letters yes I have, but sometimes she's a flighty lass. I think I've taken care of Yellow, at least for a moment, and with the Red Rose standin' so close, perhaps she'll be able to put 'im on his bottom. So it's really this Green chap that worries me. He's quite ugly and he stinks worse than me."
With her situation looking quite grim, Agata continues laughing, but mirthlessly.
Cackle to extend Evil Eye on Green and Yellow for another 1 round (now expires before Agata's turn on rounds 24 and 13)
EDIT: just went back and looked at my notes and I believe you told us that they had SR 23, in which case I think the Purple surgeon should have also had to save against stormbolts, unless you're ruling that a nat 1 is an auto-fail on an SR check?

New Damage, because Vital Strike is a s$&% feat worded by two angry Swedish llamas: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 3, 4, 2) = 14
Feel free not to use your boon if this new information changes things dramatically. Also, if you could find a way for me to take a look at this boon, I'm curious.
Also, would it be more efficient for me to ask who doesn't have a "I'm not dying today thank you very much" ability? You know what? Don't answer that. Bitter disappointment is what sustains me at this point.

Swedish llamas are the worst.
The boon is from the 4th Skull and Shackles book. You can check it out here if you want to read it yourself but I'll post it here to save you the trouble.
Wish for Rescue: As an immeidate action when you drop below 0 hit points, you may heal yourself for 3d8+10 points of damage. This healing can prevent you from dying or falling unconscious. When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.
With the reduced damage, Marduk wouldn't be dropped unconscious so it's a moot point in this case. I'll hold onto the boon for now.
At this level I'd imagine most of us have 1-2 'not dying today' boons under our belts.

Urko doesn't have any not dying boons for himself. He does have a caster level 20 ranged breath of life splash weapon.

Urko takes the +2 from BoF this round
Urko leaps onto the back of Artemis, mutters yet another spell, recovers his weapon and strikes at the grappled Kyton.
Morning star, heroism, df, bof: 1d20 + 22 + 2 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 22 + 2 + 4 + 2 = 50
Damage, df: 1d8 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 4 = 17
Confirm, heroism, df, bof: 1d20 + 22 + 2 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 22 + 2 + 4 + 2 = 34
Damage, df: 1d8 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 4 = 20
Casts quickened divine favour, spell sharing with Artemis. His attacks no longer count as good.
This is taking too long, I hope the rest of them are OK, we could really do with some sort of telepathy...
He calls out, hoping perhaps someone can hear him.
How are the rest of you doing! The central area seems to be clear, I have walled off some dangerous looking plant things!

Jesus H. Christ on a Stick, is there anything you cannot do? The sheer amount of possibilities you've inspired me is staggering. I envy your system mastery sir.

Artemis, Animal Companion |

Artemis takes the extra attack from BpF
With a roar Artemis brings up her rear legs to rake the Kyton.
Rake, heroism, df, pa: 1d20 + 20 + 2 + 4 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 20 + 2 + 4 - 3 = 26

If he goes down to the rakes or to the first bite attack Artemis and Urko will ride, flying incorporeally through the shop walls back into the area we started in to help out the group.
None of the attacks are good aligned. Dust Form only has another round or so left to go.

Its a boon from Emerald Spire. Urko has lots of options because high level spell casters are crazy. He is not quite my most versatile caster, that goes to the half elf sorcerer with paragon surge.

I got curious about Dust Form upon your intent to fly through the walls, and it looks like there's a number of things that are left up for interpretation. I'm not interested in most of these, at least not at this time, but the incorporeal/not incorporeal part does pose a conundrum. Obviously, I don't want to cheat you out of an ability you have. But I do not think that clouds of dust can just diffuse through walls, no matter what the layers of dust in my house tell me; and the spell seems to be designed around that idea that you are an Urko-shaped cloud of dust for the duration. Searching for consensus proved to be an exercise in futility, and the latest thread on it is a post long and just got flagged for clarification by yours truly.
I'm going to have to rule that you cannot walk through walls on your mighty steed. That said, you are very much aware of the path you took to get here and retracing your steps shouldn't be an issue.
Magenta, maintain control: 1d20 + 28 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 28 + 5 = 39

Leaving the wannabe android's mangled form behind, Urko and Artemis begin to find their way back towards their companions. Wounds close all around, as the outsiders slowly edge their way back to consciousness. The last remaining kyton in Hugo, Agata and Miranda's presence shakes off it's stun, only to find itself alone against the Pathfinders. "My end will be orgasmic. Will yours?" it says, it's voice toneless and raw.

Sweet Mawd |

@GM, it looks to me as though you may have missed that Sweet Mawd healed Agata for 11 hp last round. By my count that should leave her at 88 damage, not 93 as you have listed. Please let me know if I'm mistaken.

![]() |

Agata again averts her gaze from the foul Purple kyton.
Avert Gaze, high is good for me: 1d100 ⇒ 57
Expecting the Purple kyton to bring its full wrath to bear on good Cap'n Hugo, she glares at it with her evilest eye!
DC 26 Will save or its attack rolls are all at -4 for 12 rounds; if it makes its save it is still affected, but only for 1 round. Agata will reserve her swift and move actions until seeing the result of the Evil Eye.

Sweet Mawd |

Sweet Mawd averts her gaze.
Avert gaze, high is good for me: 1d100 ⇒ 71
Sweet Mawd will tap Agata with the Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds again for Healing: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6. Re my comment above about Agata's current hp, by my count this should leave Agata at 82 dmg (or 40 hp above 0).

Fair enough, in which case Artemis will take her full attack this round and we will move next round
