The female kobold looks quizzically at Toshizo. In broken common she says, "Fffrr-endd?"

She points to herself and continues, "Tarka. Tarka leader little dragons." She frowns, pointing at the door behind her. "Fire Speaker leader now." She puts away the sling.

Speaking again in draconic she says a few harsh sounding words and the other kobolds lower their spears. "Fffr-end help Tarka. Tarka help ffr-end."

She spits on the ground, "Fire Speaker no little dragon. Ffr-end kill Fire Speaker. Little dragons rule little dragons."

She motions toward the door behind her again, "Tarka tell little dragons no." she points at the group "You fight Fire Speaker."

You can't tell if that last part was a question or a request. She seems helpful and friendly though.

Azeban has Aklo! He's more of a monster-person.

"Don't forget to ask about the katana," Azeban mutters. "And I do hope we can handle this Fire Speaker. Try to ask if they can tell us anything about it."

Galia will unsling and ready her axe, looking to Toshizo with "I hope you know what a fire speaker is and what you're getting us into.". She will ready herself by the door.

"Oh, dragons don't scare me, little one. Neither does fire. Know what scares me? Missing meals. That thought makes me scared and angry."

Despite her apparent bravado, Galia starts to unconsciously sway from side to side in anticipation of someone opening the door, cradling her axe in both hands.

Grand Lodge

Tarka hisses something in draconic to the other three. They seem to relax even further and just kind of stand there dumbfounded.

Tarka says "Me go, you-mans follow." She opens the door and walks into the next room, speaking draconic immediately as she does. The Pathfinders wait a few seconds and then follow.

This large room was once two, but the wall between them has been partially torn down, and the broken door now serves as a makeshift altar. The candles and strange statues that decorate it all face the dark alcove
beyond the broken wall.

In the room are four more kobolds, which Tarka is talking to. They seem suspicious at first, but you see heads nodding in agreement as she speaks. One of the kobolds starts to speak to her and you can tell she is shouting him down, she continues, gesturing at the Pathfinders and then gesturing toward the well at the far end of the room. Before the well is a stone statue of a large kobold. Looking at Toshizo she says, "Fire Speaker there." as she points toward the statue.

Yeah, that makes sense! And huzzah for kobold bodyguards. I don't know if anyone actually told me where the enemy is located and I needed a better line of effect anyway. :P So I'll use a move action and then my standard action to start a full-round cast.

Keolin moves closer to the statue and takes cover behind a wall.

Grand Lodge

Hekra - hero time! :)

The creature next to the statue seems to be wearing very little in the way of clothing or armor and seems to almost blend into the surrounding stone and darkness. At it's waist, however, is an unmissable curved, jeweled katana.

Grand Lodge

[Hekra-GM action] Time seems to almost slow down as Hekra channels arcane power into his scimitar and quick as a flash charges forward at the shadowy creature!

Charge arcane pool scimitar attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Hekra's scimitar slices into the creature who seems shocked at this turn of events! "Mercy!" he cries. "Please, obviously if they aren't going to listen to me any more..." he gestures toward the kobolds, "I've clearly overstayed my welcome..."

Azeban's sleep spell goes off!

Fire Speaker Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 vs. DC 15

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz The Fire Speaker falls to the floor, magically asleep!

Out of Combat

A quick search reveals 2 potions, a dagger, the jade katana, a spell component pouch and a spellbook.

Tarka shouts something in draconic and the kobolds cheer, gathering around Hekra, presumably congratulating him on defeating the pretender!

"Don't worry, at this rate we'll be in time for a meal," Azeban says to Galia.

He maneuvers himself around the crowd of kobolds to tie up the Fire Speaker's body in time to see Keolin kill him. "You didn't have to do that," Azeban mutters but makes no other protest as he begins to search the corpse.

While Hekra is being cheered on, he takes the jade katana, dagger and potions but hands the pouch and spellbook to Hekra. He begins an attempt to identify the items.

"We have what we came for. Let's return, unless the kobolds would be nice enough to give us a tour of the rest of this place." Azeban grimaces as he checks the status of his wounds. "I could do with some rest."

Grand Lodge

Azeban identifies the potions as blur and cure light wounds. The katana is indeed as Venture-Captain Li has described.

Tarka praises you all in her broken Common, expressing that your are welcome to come back anytime as friends of Tarka and the kobolds of the Cairnlands.

I believe there is only one other room which is unexplored at this point, but there is nothing of value there with the scenario ending shortly. It is a storeroom with 4 flasks of alchemist's fire, which you cannot keep past the end of the scenario and unless you want to fire-bomb faction heads are of no real use now... :D

Azeban has +0 Perception! And fire-bombing faction heads sounds soooooo tempting.

Azeban bows to the kobolds, remembering what Tarka has said, and agrees with Hekra.

Grand Lodge

Azeban didn't find anything with a DC 20 Perception or lower.

Exhausted and spent the Pathfinder part ways with kobolds and head back to the Petal District to the Lantern Lodge, stopping to retrieve the dead body of your fellow Pathfinder Maurit. You bring her body back to the Temple of the Shining Star in the Ascendant Court.

Waiting there is Major Colson Maldris, no longer in his Eagle Knight finery but dressed for travel. He watches your approach, shaking his head. “I know it was difficult,” he says. “The undead sometimes cling to life, but they always turn to evil. This was a hard lesson that I felt you had to learn, to better serve the common good. As Pathfinders, we should always serve the common good and always fight for freedom. You have done yourself, the Pathfinders, and poor Maurit proud.

Arriving at the Lantern Lodge you announce yourselves and request to see Venture-Captain Li, the handsome young housekeeper bids you to wait in a beautifully furnished room, even though you are all dirty, smelly messes, another servant brings hot tea and light snacks after a few moments.

Any last minute things to take care of before we wrap the final scene?

The Exchange

There are those trade scrolls for Aaqir/the Qadira.

Azeban uses Prestidigitation beforehand in an attempt for hygiene and good manners. He drinks the hot tea while waiting, eating a few bites of the snack in between sips.

Keolin sits quietly, enjoying his tea and resting from his two traumatic near death experiences. He seems content to let the others do the talking.

Grand Lodge

After what seems like an hour, a servant enters bowing and says "Li-sama will see you now." she motions for you to follow. She leads you through the Lodge finally to Venture-Captain Li's office announcing you "The grand agents of the Pathfinder Society for the honorable Venture-Captain Amara Li." she bows and vanishes leaving you with Venture-Captain Li.

Amara Li is radiant in her smile as you enter, her eyes fixed on the jade katana. "It is a most prosperous day for the Pathfinders! Welcome, welcome back to the Lander Lodge my friends!" She motions to Azeban and he hands her the katana.

Pulling the blade slightly from the scabbard she examines it briefly, smiles and nods satisfied and says "You have all proven yourselves to be true friends of the Lantern Lodge and capable field agents for the Pathfinder Society. Please accept my invitation to stay at the Lodge should you ever have need, or if you want to formally join and support the expansion of the Lantern Lodge to the Inner Sea region I always have need for skilled agents such as yourselves."

Thus concludes Part 2 of First Steps. Hopefully you enjoyed the adventure! I'll get the Chronicles scanned and send out links tomorrow via private message. I'll also get the stuff setup for Part 3 in the next day or two and we'll get started there. Hopefully I'll be posting in that game 2x a day to keep it moving and get it complete by Sept 30th.
