I was able to learn Shield and Comprehend Language from her spellbook.
| GM ShieldBug |
Doh! There's always something I forget. Sorry about that, Forrest, I've just updated your sheet to the proper amount. ;)
Edit: Ninja'd! I'll update your sheet now, Mhazruk.
| GM ShieldBug |
I've updated your sheet accordingly Mhazruk.
I also forgot to add the boon text file (because it's impossible to copy and paste from the sheet once I add your information,) so I have just uploaded that too just in case anyone's interested. :)

Yaiho is leveled up. Besides the extra 10HP. Yaiho has two new Unchained Barbarian Powers.
First he gains two different Damage Reductions.
DR 1/-
DR 2/lethal
Second he gains the Power Stance ability. When taking the Power Stance during Rage he will do more damage. Just what Yaiho needs. :P
Brock Swiftread

Dumb question but I didn't see it in the guide.
How many HP do we get per level? Average die? Plus modifiers of course
Forrest Glavo
|
Correct! Average, rounded up. So a D8 gets 5 per level, D10 gets 6.
Also, I do appreciate that boon text file! I didn't realize the purpose before, but that is pretty handy!

I was planning to simply save my gp and pp, but if you folks think there will be a noticeable gap between the L1 and L2 characters I could get, say, a wand of CLW.
Brock Swiftread
|
Im thinking that since you are more of a support caster you'll be fine saving up, IMO.
But Im new to PFS so I don't know
Forrest Glavo
|
In my opinion, get the CLW wand for 2PP. I have one for my character, just to cover his healing so he isn't a drain. While you are a caster, and shouldn't be hit, some adventures have multiple fights in a day. If there are traps or ambushing enemies, you could end up taking quite a bit of damage that you weren't expecting.
By buying it with PP, you aren't down on gold, and probably you aren't going to miss that extra 2.
Yaiho Crasher
|
Yaiho has a Wand of CLW too to give out so he isn't a drain as well.
Arin Qualnoh
|
Yeah, okay, I'll spend my 2pp on a wand of CLW. 50 charges will get me pretty far helping the group.
GM: Is that done on the chronicle sheet, or can I just make the adjustments.
| GM ShieldBug |
Yeah, the first purchase for many characters is the trusty wand of CLW, even if they are unable to use it themselves. As for your chronicle sheet, Arin, some things like condition removal or resurrection will need to be initialled by me, but in general you should be fine making adjustments to the chronicle sheet yourself for any purchases made, including those made with PP. Just fill out the empty boxes on the right side of your sheet, and you're good to go. I also usually like to add a little note on my characters' sheets to say what I spent my prestige points on.
Yaiho Crasher
|
There is also a Tracking Sheet. I use that for my purchases and sales and link them to my Google Drive for each of my characters.
Arin Qualnoh
|
Sounds good. Will make the adjustments before we begin again in a week.
ALSO Just a heads up, I'm going to be away on a camping trip next weekend. So I'll be away from computers and probably with a bad phone signal all day Feb 10 & 11, US/Pacific time. I will likely be able to catch up late on the 11th.
| GM ShieldBug |
Thanks for the heads up! I don't think we're starting until the 12th though, so you won't have to worry about missing anything. ;)
Have fun!
Arin Qualnoh
|
Ah, so not before. Perfect!
Danicka Raburnus
|
FYI, I did end up giving Danicka a level of druid, so Prickles is small sized right now, since dog companions start small. lol.
Brock Swiftread
|
You could reskin a wolf companion, those attack dogs were very wolfy.
Danicka Raburnus
|
With permission, yeah. But for now its a dog, since that's what it is.
So? Dog or wolf, GM?
| GM ShieldBug |
As far as I see it, there is no reason a Thuvian Desert Dog can't be a reskined wolf. They were described as being undomesticated, and they were actually large in the higher tier, so they might have been a some kind of desert wolf anyway. :)
Danicka Raburnus
|
Cool! Will adjust him soon.
| GM ShieldBug |
And we're back! Welcome to 07-01 Between the Lines. For those of you who have levelled up or adjusted your characters in some way, please make sure to update your info on the last slide of the handouts. :)

Updated.
Gambler: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Dancer: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Woohoo! I've been missing this group. Excited to start again!

The markets of Katapesh may be seedy but they are still a great place to move merchandise.
He downs a Crafter's Fortune (+5 Luck Bonus) before creating his wares to give them a little extra oomph.
Craft(Alchemy): 1d20 + 11 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 5 = 25

My 2 year old has a fondness for the show Wallykazam and every time we watch it and Hattie the witch makes an appearance, I can't help but think of Danicka and smile.
So there's that.
Danicka Raburnus
|
Hahaha! I officially have to watch this show with my kids.
Brock Swiftread
|
Its a cute show that teaches the fundimentals of words and reading. My son likes the monsters and the songs.
Assuming Forrest and Yaiho don't care (I can't fathom why they would) can you move Brock to 3-4 in the order? As he'll likely be starting combats with musketry to trigger opening volley for round two.
Forrest Glavo
|
Sounds good to me. That puts me and Yaiho up front, with you and Rook in the middle, and the squishies out back.
Yaiho Crasher
|
Good for me to. The sooner Yaiho can get to the enemy the sooner he can kill them. :P

If you're concerned with splash damage on your companions, there's always Targeted Bomb Admixture

I feel I should have given more indication of just how unfriendly the gnolls were in my previous post, so I'm sorry about that. I'll try harder in the future to depict starting attitudes more clearly. However, trust me that this fight will have no long lasting implications to your successes. ;)
Mhazruk Kruhl
|
My limited knowledge of gnoll had me feeling it would be a fight either way. Had to give it a shot at least. Hopefully Prickles isn't offended by the mutt calling.
Arin Qualnoh
|
Bleh. My battle flavor is pretty bland. I need to seek inspiration and work on it...
Yaiho Crasher
|
I cannot remember a single encounter with gnolls that ultimately didn't end up in a fight. Even when playing evil PCs.
Forrest Glavo

Ya, even orcs and demons have a higher chance of a peaceful resolution.
Mhazruk Kruhl

Completely un-related but I am retooling my Magus before OutPost as it will be his first game at level 2. Has anyone played them before? I don't want to make another Dervish Dance Shocking Grasp Magus so I am figuring out what direction to take him.
Currently I am thinking using a whip with Frostbite to be a debuffer. Bladebound is super flavorful and can give me an intelligent whip.
Brock Swiftread

I've been eying an eldrich scion build using the arcana that gives it swashbuckler deeds.
Parry and riposte and precise strike give you something to do on rounds you don't spellcombat.
Thought of taking Brock that route but it lacked skills for his fondness of gab.
Yaiho Crasher
|
I have a Bladebound Magus I created, though I haven't had a chance to play him much. He is still 1st level. But his Black Blade is going to be an Long Sword and I plan on using his Blade Lash spell regularly when he gets his Intelligent Weapon.
Here is his Profile if you want to look at it.

@Arin: Casters can be difficult to flavour during battles, especially an oracle with a mysterious patron, but you're doing a fine job so far. If you want to try and spice things up a little, you can always look at the components of the spell you're casting and work from there. What gestures are required for somatic components, does he pull out eye of newt or other exotic things for material components, does he say a prayer or beseech his unknown patrons for verbal components, etc.
Just a heads up for y'all. I'm currently preparing for an interview that I absolutely must ace if my hopes of a new career are ever going to get off the ground. As such, I will be a bit distracted for a time and will probably only be able to make one post a day until sometime next week.

Good Luck!!
@Arin you can also explore your curse in combat. You for some reason speak anyssal in combat, why? Maybe uou come under the influence of an actual demonic entity (maybe I watch/listen to too many paranormal shows) and you can outline the internal struggle? If so, how does casting feel for Arin? Where does his magic actually COME from?
I have a haunted Oracle who spends much of his time bickering with the ghosts in his head. At least he thinks they are ghosts. Jury is out if he is just a loon bin.

Good luck, Shieldbug!
@ Arin: Yeah, I usually make each of my caster's style different. One writes runes in the air with her hand motions, one speaks in tongues and her eyes glow, one uses magic words, and so on. Danicka's actually my least descriptive caster, cause her personality is so out there already. I bet all of her spells sparkle or feel pleasantly warm or something. Haha. I should work on that.
I think you should totally play up your abyssal creepiness! And make your eyes glow ominously, or your voice sound terrifying or something. Like some nasty monster is speaking through your little body! Then Danicka can be afraid of EVERYONE in the party... Haha.
Anyway, it's up to you, but the nice thing about pbp is that you can take the time to describe that stuff if you want.
Mhazruk Kruhl

Feel free to spice up and add interesting things in Abyssal. Since I can understand it that allows me to roll it into our interactions. Like the others said the curse is tongues but you can flavor it in your own way with how it presents itself.

But Brock is such a nice guy! Wouldn't hurt a fly.

If I bought one of the lion cubs and reared it into a Riding Lion we could have a zoo! Lol.
Danicka Raburnus

Yeah, Danicka totally wants one. It can be a non-combat pet. lol
Brock Swiftread

I wonder if our excellent bargaining skills can net us any faction goals from The Exchange.
I pretty much wrote most of them off with Brocks non mercantile nature.
Brock Swiftread

Dang, one of my options for this Character was wild child brawler, or huntsmaster cavalier (though PFS limiting to 1 pet kinda kills the archetype)
Could really have gotten a zoo going!
