Caoilte |
Well get on with it Tarek. I'm sure I look like I'm enjoying myself, but I'd rather this thing be dead or defeated. Caoilte yells as he swings again.
Attack, Battle Axe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 +3AB, +4 Str, +1 MW axe, +1 Weapon Focus, -1 Power attack
Damage, Battle Axe: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 +4 Str, +2 Power Attack
Havelockk |
Oh well, ..so much for throwing a really large snow ball at this thing....did I mention I am running out of arcane things to conjure up and launch at these thing! I don't supposes there is a water elemental that has a natural hatred of fire elementals.....that would be really helpful to know.
GM Brew |
The party fights fire with steel!
Tarek carefully reaches into the compartment and seizes the gem. It glimmers in his hand as he inspects the find. Spell count seems right. How does Tarek try to examine the gem?
Caoilte continues his assault on the otherworldly menace. His axe causes embers and smoke to spill from the fire of the creature.

Havelock Will resolve elemental action before 'lock.
Tarek Delrin |
As Tarek wrestles with his current task, he hears Havelockk's remark There is an obelisk with a water symbol and touching the pillars seem to activate them. If your understanding of these creatures is correct, then perhaps we could test the theory by letting another one out. If you are incorrect......well let's say... the end result will not be good for us.
Tarek takes the gem and holds it up in the air trying to determine if there is anything unique about the stone of if he notices anything within the gem. As he steps away from the obelisk, he makes sure the gem can be seen by the elemental. Speaking softly to himself By the gods I hope this does not get me killled. Tarek then looks intently at the flaming creature Return to the obelisk or I will destroy this stone!
I sure do hope that the stone has something to do with controlling the elemental. If not then Tarek will make a very nice ash pile to display the gem
Isador Kane |
Looking to Tarek, Whatever you are going to do... now is the time!
He takes another shot at the flaming monster.
Attack +1 Composite Short Bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage (arrow): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek lacks the spellcraft skill and it is a trained skill.
I have no idea what to do with this thing but it looks to be important
Tarek works his way in the direction of the Magus and shouts to the nimble caster Havelockk! You may want to look at this and see if there is another option other than flailing at the flaming creature. Holding out the gem, he hopes to get his attention
I am unsure of what actions Tarek can take after finding the gem. He will attempt to move close to Havelockk, if given the chance, or possibly use mage hand to send the gem to the Magus
Caoilte |
Caoilte disregards the actions of the spell weavers and continues to attack.
Attack, Battle Axe: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 +3AB, +4 Str, +1 MW axe, +1 Weapon Focus, -1 Power attack
Damage, Battle Axe: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 +4 Str, +2 Power Attack
Havelockk |
Look at the creature of flame, I take a step and attack with both hands interlocking on the hilt.
88 LS attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
88 LS Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
You know....I only got a bit of the arcane left in me!!
GM Brew |
The elemental, smoke and embers drifting off the creature as if the thing was slowly disintegrating, takes another loping swipe at Coilte, but the damaged thing misses teribly.
Havelock tries to strike the beastie but is also swings wide.
Caoilte, tired of the casters' folly, finishes the creature with another might swipe of his axe. He tears through the body of the elemental, finally unraveling the force holding it to this plane. The thing swirls and spins, smoke pouring into the air before the thing shrinks and disappears with an audible popping sound, disappearing from view.
Out of combat.
slam!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Havelockk |
Looking around the area.. Say, how about we see if can avoid touching or messing with anything else that might get annoyed enough to want to kill us.....I mean...are we not supossed to get the goods and then try and make it back with out the aspis consortium mucking it all up.
Tarek Delrin |
Excellent job! I was concerned our weapons would be unable to damage the fiery creature and I searched for an alternate solution to defeat the beast. I thought the pillar had something to do with controlling the elemental but I was wrong. My search did reveal this Tarek holds out the large gem I do not know what purpose it served but I am hoping that Havelockk's arcane knowledge will be beneficial in determining if it is more than just a gem Tarek hands the gem to the Magus for a closer examination.
Isador Kane |
Thanks Caoilte, you have certainly displayed the martial prowess that the society is known for. You and Havelockk are the backbone of our combat team.
He tries to catch a glimpse of the gemstone discovered Tarek as he passes it to Havelockk.
Appraise: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
He scratches his head as he looks about the room. Now that the Fire warrior threat is gone, we can spend a little time inspecting this room for anything else.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Havelockk |
Caoilte, you are welcome....and let me see that gem
Looking the gem, I hold it up to my lit wayfinder.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
GM Brew |
Havelock inspects the gem, drawing on his accrued knowledge. He recognizes the item as a rare fire elemental gem.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
When the gem is crushed, smashed, or broken (a standard action), a Large elemental appears as if summoned by a summon nature's ally spell. The elemental is under the control of the creature that broke the gem.
The coloration of the gem varies with the type of elemental it summons. Air elemental gems are transparent, earth elemental gems are light brown, fire elemental gems are reddish orange, and water elemental gems are blue-green.
Isador, taking care not to touch any of the obelisks, finds nothing else of note in the room.
What do you do next?
Isador Kane |
Okay.. that gem might be very useful going forward. Speaking of going forward, let me go have a look down that other hallway.
He pads off few steps before turning back to his companions If I'm not back in a few minutes, please come looking for me. This place is full of nasty surprises! and with that, he turns and slinks down the hallway.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Isador Kane |
It is amazing how many monsters we have encountered so far, let's hope the worst is behind us now. he moves forward and inspects the door for any signs of danger.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 if needed
Isador Kane |
Finding the door unlocked, he quietly opens the door slightly and tries to examine the room. If it appears safe, he will slide inside and take a look around.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
GM Brew |
Isador creeps into the room, silent as a mouse. The room, as much of the tomb is completely dark, but Isador nonetheless sees a series of shapes in the back of the chamber. These shapes, are visible because they are on fire and turn to Isador, flames outlining skeletal forms and shedding light on a central skeleton that appears to be bleeding from every bone!
The Bloody skeleton dashes forward to attack Isador! The undead guardian misses, but readies four arms, each with rotting short swords, to bring down on the rogue.
Game on!

Isador Kane |
Seeing that stealth is not providing any tactical advantage he raises the alarm to his companions Agghhhhhh! Caoilte, come quickly!
He takes a retreat action to put as much distance between him and the undead monstrosity as possible.
Havelockk |
Izzy Fall back if you can!!
Looking at the rare fire elemental gem, I figure no time like now.
I crush the and summon forth the fire elemental and I point to the bloody skeleton.
Destroy it and the flaming skeletons by Azarath!!
Tarek Delrin |
Watching as Havelockk destroys the gem, Tarek shouts to the magus I sure hope you know what you are doing with that thing. I will stand clear and let the minion do the work. Let me know if you need me to advance Tarek stands a few steps away from the fiery elemental and lets Havelockk deal with the chaos in the room. Tarek sheaths his sword and draws his chakram in case a ranged attack is needed
GM Brew |
Isador beats a quick retreat, careening through his ranks to put as many of hsi allies between him and the undead horde.
Havelock stomps the newly found gem under his heal. Smoke rises from under the Magus' boot, coalescing into a flaming hulking form of a large fire elemental. Havelock points and commands the outsider to attack the undead menace. The creature obeys and makes for the bleeding skeleton, but its first attack misses terribly.
The burning skeletons rush to the aid of their bloody undead comrade and descend on the fire elemental. Their puny attacks miss the fire thing.
The skeletons are overmatched by the summoned creature. The party watches as the elemental smashes each skeleton in turn, pulverizing their bones to a firey pulp. The skeletons try to fight back, but they do not have the strength to stop the fire! The elemental stands ready over the destroyed undead and looks back to Havelock for further instruction.
The skelly's could not overcome the elementals DR, so it was only a matter of time. I gave the elemental three rounds to clean them up.
Elemental (3 rounds)

FIre!: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
sattack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
sattack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Havelockk |
Appraising the situation, I command the elemental to move into the room and secure it.
Izzy, I think there is a door, check it out....if we have trouble, I will send in our fiery companion.
[ooc] How long do we have control of our fiery friend? [/b]
Isador Kane |
Well, that something you don't see everyday! Havelockk, your skill over magic is quite impressive. He continues past the magus to get a glimpse of the dead skeletons. you have that thing on a short leash, correct? I don't want a strand of this hair burned... it's my lady magnet.
He grins as he steps into the room and he quickly moves to the door that the skeletons were guarding. He mutters under his breath as he inspects the door for traps or wards.
Let's have a look, shall we.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 = 25
Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 if needed
Havelockk |
Shrugging, and perhaps a bit disappointed my fiery friend did not stay around longer, I peer down the corridor that Izzy went up and into the room as well as looking down south the other way.
Tarek Delrin |
A shame the magics that bound the elemental to this plane could not have lasted longer. It is good that it was able to make quick work of the undead while it was here. Tarek looks about the chamber and at the pile of charred bones I do hope these guardians were protecting something of great value. It would be a waste if just another empty room was ahead
Havelockk |
Caoilte, I think that depends on the god. Be happy he does not worship Calistra...but that god who likes beer...and actually gives out beer..hmm..perhaps Tarek you should consider...
Isador Kane |
Seeing no apparent traps, Isador slowly opens the door enough to get a look at what is inside. If the room seems clear, he will have a look about.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
GM Brew |
Isador cautiously opens the door...
Sumptuous hanging silks, plush cushions, and patterned rugs decorate this luxurious chamber. A cool breeze bearing the mingled scent of lotus flowers and perfume wafts through the room. The distant notes of a lively tune plucked out on a lyre are accompanied by the sounds of trickling water, birdsong, and feminine laughter.
Isador sees two figures before him. Two beautiful Osirion woman smile at him, their bodies shapely in the light of the room. Teir grin widens as they see the rogue enter their chamber. They speak in soft velvety seductive tones:
"Hail Traveler! Welcome. You appear as if you have travelled very far, would you not say Bastetabi?" The other woman smiles wide and inviting "Yes Seneteka. A weary traveller in such a dreary place. Come friend, we have succor. Please, share our wine, let us indulge you with our lush fruits...shall we feed this poor soul?" Sennteka closes her eyes and nods her head demurely "Indeed. Our honor... the woman looks up at Isador seductively...and our desire...
Isador Kane |
Isador stands in disbelief upon seeing the beautiful women. His jaw line slackens a bit and a broad smile forms on his lips when the women invite him to come inside.
It appears that the dust and monsters have been erased from his memory and he takes a step inside towards the attractive women. He takes another step before snapping back to his senses. Umm... No, wait, something is not right here.
He quickly spins on his heel and makes a beeline back towards his companions. You fellas aren't going to believe this!
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek listens as Isador describes the room ahead This should be shining moment for you and Caoilte to exercise you prowess with the ladies. Havelockk and I can keep a distance so we won't be accused of killing your mojo. Tarek grins at the two of them. Go to it gents and I will do my best to refrain from laughing
Havelockk |
Izzy, don't tell me you are afraid of two lovely ladies that appear in a three thousand year old tomb!! Its not like its totally out of place and in probable!!
Raising my guard up with Ae-Dee Ate in hand, thinking to the blade, "ya, I got a bad feeling about this". With my free hand I activate "shield" on my self and then Tarek, followed by Caoilte and Izzy as time allows, my gut telling me this is gonna be a fight real soon.
GM Brew |
The two shapely women take a step toward the door as Isador backs away. They tilt their heads playfully at the rogue. Bastetabi smiles "No, please traveller. It has been so long since we have had company. Our lives are so tedious, so drab. We yearn for tales from beyond our walls. Sit with us, tell us of how you came to our home. We shall feed you, give you drink. A fair exchange, no?"
What do you do?
Isador Kane |
Isador smiles back at the women. While your offer is quite pleasant, I would not feel comfortable enjoying your company all by myself. My companions are just as weary as I am. Are they all welcome at your table?
He moves slightly in an attempt to block the women's line of sight to Tarek.
GM Brew |
random: 1d20 ⇒ 9
The woman smiles warmly to Isador. "But of course traveller, you are all welcome at our table. You seem a man of the world, I suspect you all have much to tell us, much that will relieve our banal lives...yes, come, share our gifts, drink our wine...we shall make it worth your time traveller, I assure you."
