Izzy fires an arrow missing the rampaging undead cat.
Caoilte attempts to bash the rotting leopard aside but is unable to break its grasp.
Havelock launches an arcane blast at the leopard, hitting it squarely. The beast is blown off Caoilte and regains its feat, letting go an unearthly howl that chills the party to its core.
'Lock, did you use your arcane pool to recall that spell? If so, how many points are left in your pool?
Everyone make a Will save.

good thing Tarek was striking true!!
After overcoming my sudden anxiety attack, I reach into my belt and take a sip from a small metal flask, enjoying the smooth oaken taste of the single malt dwarven drink made by the Glenfiddich Clan.
Ahhh, anyone else up for a sip? I find a sip of this along with some deep breathing and reflection rather productive in times like this.
Reflecting a bit more. You know my friends, I have used quite a bit of my arcane abilities. I still have some prepared abilities and I can do some limited recalls still, but at a certain point, for me to be fully effective, we may need to take a break. I am confidant we can tackle what lies in here, but should we get ambushed or encounter the Aspis Consortium, it could make a difference.

![]() |

Tarek waits for the effects of the howl to wear off and then assess the situation while waiting for the group to collect in the empty room.Everyone Ok? We should look about the room for anything of value before we continue. I am not sure how much of this Pyramid is left to search but we have yet to find any artifacts of real value.
Tarek searches around the empty room.

I know we are low on spells but I say we push on. My biggest concern is healing and I still have a few scrolls at my disposal. If we rest, then the Consortium may gain the artifacts we were sent to recover. We must secure those items first and take advantage of any lead we have over them.

![]() |

Well I still got a few tracks and spells so I am ready to press on. As much as I would like to rest and recharge, I agree with you Tarek.

![]() |

Gents, my biggest concern is the effect this place is having on our minds. We got lucky, very lucky in that last fight. Pointing to his shoulder Caoilte continues I do need a minute to clean this out and I'll have to shed some armor to do so. Old dead cat teeth can't be good for the flesh.

I have nothing that will aid us against attacks focused against our will. I can continue casting guidance but the duration is short lived. I can also ready a scroll of obscuring mist, should we become overwhelmed and need to retreat. We can take a few moments to gather our senses and determine how best to proceed

![]() |

Yes, I agree that this place seems to contain magical wards that are playing tricks on our senses. I have not seen us fight this poorly in ages.
I think we should press forward and hope that the worst is behind us. Let's get what we came for and take our leave of this place.

Isador, bolstered by the party's magic, fins nothing out of the ordinary about the northern door. The cautious rogue opens the door slowly revealing the room beyond.
Each corner of this room holds a stone obelisk carved with hieroglyphs. The obelisks surround a golden circle engraved in the center of the floor.
Other than the obelisks, the room appears empty.

![]() |

Very interesting. At least no undead abominatons are lurking about inside. I wonder if it is some type of portal? Isador, if you think it is safe then I would like to take a closer look at those hieroglyps
Tarek studies the obelisks and the disc, from a distance and tries to determine its use.

You can understand the spoken words of creatures or read otherwise incomprehensible written messages. The ability to read does not necessarily impart insight into the material, merely its literal meaning. The spell enables you to understand or read an unknown language, not speak or write it.
Written material can be read at the rate of one page (250 words) per minute. Magical writing cannot be read, though the spell reveals that it is magical. This spell can be foiled by certain warding magic (such as the secret page and illusory script spells). It does not decipher codes or reveal messages concealed in otherwise normal text.

I think we should avoid entering the golden circle in the center of the room. Isador scratches his chin and takes a quick visual scan of the room before turning to Tarek.
Let me have a look around before you investigate those obelisks. he quickly turns and places one foot in the room before pausing. looking back over his shoulder he whispers to the group. well, this is generally the point where things get interesting. Be prepared for anything.

Tarek studies the obelisks and is able to draw upon his monastic religious training to decipher the various symbols on the structures. Each of the four obelisks appears connected to one of the four elements, fire, earth, air and water.
As he studies the obelisks, Tarek notices a hidden panel on the northwest obelisk, the one that appears to represent fire.

Peering into the room, but staying outside of it while the experts check it out, I maintain my vigilance, convinced now that this place is a tomb of lovely horrors, just waiting to drop the hammer on us.
The Osirians of old must have really had a lot of time on there hands to make such elaborate tombs. I'd at least make this. Temple Ora church or a administrative building to get some use for the coin spent on this place.

![]() |

Tarek waves to Isador and notifies everyone on what he has discovered. Each obelisk has a symbol pertaining to different elements. I wonder if we can activate them by placing one of the corresponding elements in the obelisk or on the disc? Anyone have any thoughts about it?
Isador, your eyes are better than mine. I will let you inspect the panel before popping it open.

![]() |

Worth a shot, ....how do you put air in when its all around us, or do we plan to just "blow" on it? Just saying....thee we are blowing on it like a five year old blowing out birthday candles and mummy guy drops out of the ceiling.

![]() |

No..no mummy issues...I actually grew up in a pretty good family....but I decided to run off and join the legions despite my education. Fortunate for me I learned I had a few latent talents for the arcane.

![]() |

Tarek thinks a moment as he runs his hand over the obelisk and panel I wonder if these obelisks contain an elemental within? We really should be careful how we proceed. Without knowing more about this room, I worry that any action we take could end with disastrous results. Something is radiating heat within and there is no way to determine the danger. Should we leave this room until we have searched the pyramid in its entirety?

GM Brew |

As Tarek runs his hand along the obelisk, his hand feels the heat coming from the structure. The obelisk resonates and begins to glow as swirling energy jets forth, coalescing in the circle at the center of the room. The energy gathers until the party feels a pop as a being emerges from the gathered magics. A beging of living fire steps forth into the circle, its eyes full of malice and hatred!

Tarek's eyes widen as the firery creature appears Really!!! I guess that answers that question. I should have listened to my own advice and left the room. Tarek waits to see how Isador reacts to the situation. I don't see how opening the panel can make things worse. Try not touch the obelisks. We don't need more of these things popping out.
Tarek will try to pop open the panel on the fire obelisk to see if there is a way turn it off

The party engages the firey foe!
Isador, startled at the thing's sudden appearance, fires off a shot but is off the mark.
Tarek opens the hidden panel on the obelisk. Inside the oracle sees a small orange and red gem resting on the bottom a hidden compartment.
Caoilte marches in, taking the fire elemental head on. The warrior's axe strikes hom, sending embers flying.
Havelock, perhaps trying to do too much at once, attempts to recall another spell but his concentration is off and the spell fizzles.
The elemental focuses on its immediate threat, Caoilte, and attempts to slam the fighter. Caoilte feels more than sees a firey maw swing past his head.

Tarek reaches into the obelisk and tries to retrieve the gem. If the area is too hot then he will call upon his ability to create water within the obelisk to cool off the gem. If he is unable to retireve the gem he will use mage hand instead
Tarek shouts to the party I think I found something that may help if I can retrieve it!

Tarek has used 3 spells, 1 scroll and both uses of his war blessing. He has also expended the protection from evil spell provided by his wayfinder. I think this is a accurate count. Tarek should have 3 spells left
