I played I think near 8 games for gameday and I saw only one 1 roll. Last year I was able to get a 20 and 1 myself. :(

DM Kludde |

I'll ask Jesse if I can take 20 next time ;-)

Pregen - PatheticWretch |

Thanks again for running this! I like the mix of styles here, and it was fun for a change of pace.
On another note, I've had 2 boons this cycle!

![]() |

Is it possible to do the next one with the pregen as well and give the credit to another character, or will my sorceress fall behind and unable to do some levels in the future then?

DM Kludde |

Dungeon level 6 iis tier 4-6, so if Asuna is character level 4 right now, you can still run as a pregen for dungeon level 5, then move back to Asuna for the sixth dungeon level.

DM Kludde |

I've updated the chronicles: half speed for Bruce, and proper names for PW and Jelani.

![]() |

Hmmm choices choices. Do I skip a level or keep going and give a level to a different character who could use the bump. Low levels are so boring sometimes ;).

![]() |

Going forward, I'd like to keep Caranthir at the max level he can be without going half speed, in which case I'll substitute proxy Caranthir.

![]() |

Hate to be a bother, but mine still isn't showing up correctly. Also you have the wrong year on the date. Thanks for running this if I didn't say so earlier. Can't wait for the next one.

![]() |

Sorry for the delay from me, I need to finish copying the stats for the pre gen I am running for this next level. I will hopefully have that done tomorrow. I can start posting with the alias though.

DM Kludde |

I hope the chronicles are ok now. If not, please let me know - it's not a bother at all, the minions are pretty quick with corrections these days.

Jolly Roger's Alias |

Decided I'll go with Enora again. Apparently the levels 10 and 11, 12 and 13, and 14 and 15 should be done on slow advancement. So I can make up lost time later if I like :).
Still want to see how arcanists play after all :).

![]() |

Bruce would like to resupply before the next level.
Potion of water breathing 750g
Spear 2g
Scroll of Touch of the sea 25g
Copying to formula book 10g

DM Kludde |

With many thanks to Bruce W/Kyshkumen for forever grafting in my head what Aquan sounds like.

Question - Our current fame level allows up to 3000 gp purchase. Which means I can't buy a headband of alluring charisma yet, unless it appears on a chronicle sheet (doesn't... yet...)
But since I already have +1 armor and a +1 shield, to go up to +2 is an additional 3000gp. Is this a legal purchase then? Seems like it might be skirting the rules, since I technically couldn't purchase a fresh set of +2 armor (too expensive for the maximum gold level).
I might not be able to get anything big with this chronicle if that is the case, so will probably do something similar to bruce and get a bunch of consumables that will probably come in handy..
None of that really matters for this level, since I will be using the Pre-gen, and I can't purchase anything, as far as I understand. Just want to make sure I have it cleared up for when we get to level 6. (!)
Pregen is almost finished being updated. Will be ready to join in earnest tonight.

![]() |

When ever you upgrade magic items you have to look at the total cost of the item in regards to your fame cap not how much you actually spend. It's a little confusing, but makes a lot of sense when you point out that you can't out right buy the +2 armor.
Also on a side note Bruce will be able to buy bigger things sooner as his fame is going to be higher then the rest of party due to the land grab.

![]() |

Ok - Don't want to clutter things up but I don't want to forget either.
I finished updating Thistle for when I go back to him next level. Purchased:
Ring of Protection +1, Amulet of Natural armor +1, Spire Transport token (not sure if this is totally necessary, but I figured why not...) Smoked Goggles (not currently worn), 1 each of antitoxin, antiplague, and bladeguard.
Also, I would like to do the land grab. I can buy 1 hex per chronicle sheet with the proper PP. I will print out my sheets and fill in the details and scan them back in for reference. The next time I use this character this will likely only have an affect on my day job roll.
Anyways, didn't mean to distract from this level, just wanted to get that out there!

![]() |

Pretty sure you can get one with each chronicle... the boon actually states: "You may only purchase one plot of land with this boon, but each additional chronicle sheet awarded as part of the emerald spire superdungeon allows you to purchase more land".
I assumed since the boon is on every chronicle sheet, we could get 1 hex per sheet. Each hex costs 2 PP, and we get 4 per chronicle, so we should be able to have 4 hexes by now...
If I am wrong please let me know!

![]() |

It was confusing when I first started, but the fine print is on the actual land rush boon.
The more you adventure in and around the Emerald Spire, the more opportunity you have to acquire and develop your own plot of land. Every other Chronicle sheet for The Emerald Spire Superdungeon grants you the opportunity to purchase a parcel of land, represented by one of the hexes below. Each new parcel you purchase must be adjacent to a parcel you already own. You immediately gain any bonuses tied to the land (see below). Your first parcel of land must be the hex marked “A.”
My best guess is that the spot to purchase one is on every sheet so that you can start on the even numbered chronicles if you wish or if you skipped the first adventure.

DM Kludde |

With regards to the cool shark image: the picture isn't part of the original Emerald Spire artwork. There's an illustrator on the boards, Carlos Torreblanca (celurian), creating additional pieces of art of things he found missing from the book.
It's great stuff, so let him know what you think of it!

Jolly Roger's Alias |

DM Kludde |

I'm assuming you might want to visit the last bits of the dungeon, but just in case you want to continue, can you give me reporting details?

DM Kludde - I'm not entirely sure what character I am going to apply this chronicle too... I might end up applying it to a 1st level character (which reduces the gold)
I will get back with you by Monday on that...

I'll start reporting the game then. I hope this level wasn't too frustrating...
Expect chronicles later today or tomorrow (depending on your time zone)

Oh it was frustrating, but that doesn't mean it wasn't still fun!

![]() |

I didn't mind that much to be honest. Still I would like to know some background information on what the heck was going on on this level :).

![]() |

With a +5 swim check, I didn't have any problems with it. I did feel bad for a few that were swept away uncontrollably every time they moved!
Great times!

![]() |

I should have prepped another touch of the sea, other then that Bruce was pretty well equipped for the level.
If it's not to late to add, Bruce will purchase plot B3

DM Kludde |

Here's the chronicles, in the usual place (link). Let me know if there is any issue with them.
Different levels of the dungeons connect to extraplanar locales. Here, the Spire’s influence creates natural portals to the Plane of Water. Most of these are no larger than a coin, but their constant flow has left the level mostly flooded.
Originally, this level was a simple set of storerooms and guardrooms dating back to Nhur Athemon’s early expeditions. Two centuries ago, a clan of derros who occupied this level and the sixth level studied the Spire’s planar influence and tried to alter the local affinity for the Plane of Water to something more useful. Their experiments, however, ended up multiplying the portals to that plane and drowned this level in a flood that never receded.
The current inhabitants are aquatic animals and elemental creatures who like the level the way it is. These include a trio of undine spellcasters the serpentfolk of Vissk-Thar have secretly suborned, intending to turn them against their enemies.

I did some more digging and this land rush is confusing the $%^# out of me. It says ever other chronicle, but one of the abilities you earn gets a bonus for owning all 16.
Which makes me rethink how the whole thing should work and that we should just get to buy one for every chronicle. What does everyone else think?

![]() |

I agree ... the only way to get to 16 is if you can buy one on each chronicle.

![]() |

Bruce made the following purchases.
+1 Adamantine morningstar 5008g
+1 Armor enchantment 1000g
If we are going with 1 land rush per chronicle Bruce will also purchase E and C3. Giving him the Country Estate (Wayne Manor) and a +1 on day job rolls.

I haven't quite figured out the batmobile yet, maybe further down the line.

![]() |

the Real Thistle is ready to go, already made my purchases. Ready to get back to the Oracle I love so much... :) I'm thinking I might just do the slow track advancement next time we need to do this... Not entirely convinced the pre-gen was the best way to go. I felt hamstrung compared to what the real Thistle can do...
As always, great job, and thanks DM Kludde!

I would agree, I think you should be able to buy one for each chronicle. That's the way it seems like it is explained when you read the boon on the chronicle itself.
That is the one thing I still have yet to do with Thistle, I think I would like to go back and purchase land from chronicles that I haven't done that yet on. When I have a few extra minutes to sort it out that is...

![]() |

I was fine with my pregen. Specially since it gave 2 other chars a nice bump from 3 to 4 so they could get some more fun abilities. :)

DM Kludde |

Something that I mentioned with the other table (who managed to play through level 4 in four days): the dungeon, upon complete play-through, bring you to level 13 on the recommended slow/fast tracks. If you play two more levels on slow track (or switch out with pregens, but the careful that you do that for the right level, for which lvl 7 pregens are allowed), you'll end with exactly 33 xp -> you'll be able to do a seeker arc. I don't know how many of your are into that kind of thing (and, at this pace, it will be another two years(!) till we get there), but it may be something worth keeping in mind.

Fellgrim would like to do the following:
Add +1 to masterwork chain shirt 1000 gp
Sell cold-iron hammer 20 gp
Buy masterwork elysian bronze earth breaker 1340 gp
Buy handy haversack 2000 gp
Buy ring of protection +1 2000 gp
Buy wand of enlarge person 750 gp
Buy potion of restoration, lessor 300 gp
Buy potion of sanctuary 50 gp
1st ... Expeditious Retreat, Heightened Awareness, Shield x2, True Strike
2nd ...Ablative Barrier, Fire Breath x2
After which Fellgrim is ready to go ...

So, Kludde, I'm looking at Jelani's reported sessions. It says on the site that he did three emerald spire levels with you, but I'm almost positive he only did two.
If he did three then that means he has 23 XP, and is level 7. I only have one PDF saved on my PC for him, and that's for the Splinterden level at normal XP. My memory tells me he did another level, but at slow XP. I just apparently lost the chronicle file for it.
In any case, can you clarify? Also if he's level 6, can I start playing him again this level?
