The ooze sloughs up to Frēodwēn and lances at him with some of its protrusions!

Just as a reminder: Frēodwēn, I need 3 DC 16 Fort saves. Let me know if you have any resistance to fire that I might be missing.

Xakon launches himself at the creature, his weapon lancing through to destroy the beast. And while the creature's molten body is hot enough to destroy any of the arrows thus far launched at it, starmetal is already auspiciously hard and resistant to being warped under such heat; never mind enchanted starmetal.

However, perhaps in a moment of hubris, Xakon decides to take a bite out of the ooze. Not only is it rather impervious to such attacks, molten lava is not one of the many foodstuffs Halflings are in the habit of consuming.

Molten lava damage to the mouth: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Lady Sugarsnap has a hunch, and she acts upon it, and as the icy pebbles come down upon it, she finds her hunch validated, as the creature desperately attempts to dodge out of the way of the hail. Fortunately, most of the hail bounces off of it without dealing much cold damage.

Vulnerable to cold!

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving, if you partake of such things.

The pathfinders move on, round the bend to behold a pool of glowing green liquid, surrounded by long, metallic tentacles writhing around the edge of the liquid; seemingly in search of "prey". In one corner of the room, another swarm of junk pieces lies inactive. The air, which wasn't very pleasant to begin with, is now thick with the aroma of rotting flesh.

Krago, you can obviously spot the trap. As in, it's those mechanical segmented tentacles. To disable them though, you will need to get adjacent. Which involves its own set of issues. Place yourselves, and the moment you have a plan and step into that room, we will go to initiative.

The air elemental transforms into a large whirlwind tornado. as it attempts to suck in as many of the little critters as it can to hold them for as long as it can.

whirlwind up to 40' high (will stop at ceiling of course.) can pick up creatures medium and smaller, reflex DC 18, damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Whirlwind:

Whirlwind (Su)
Some creatures can transform themselves into whirlwinds and remain in that form for up to 1 round for every 2 HD they have. If the creature has a fly speed, it can continue to fly at that same speed while in whirlwind form; otherwise it gains a fly speed equal to its base land speed (average maneuverability) while in whirlwind form.

The whirlwind is always 5 feet wide at its base, but its height and width at the top vary from creature to creature (minimum 10 feet high). A whirlwind’s width at its peak is always equal to half of its height. The creature controls the exact height, but it must be at least 10 feet high.

The whirlwind form does not provoke attacks of opportunity, even if the creature enters the space another creature occupies. Another creature might be caught in the whirlwind if it touches or enters the whirlwind, or if the whirlwind moves into or through the creature’s space. A creature in whirlwind form cannot make its normal attacks and does not threaten the area around it.

Creatures one or more size categories smaller than the whirlwind might take damage when caught in the whirlwind (generally damage equal to the monster’s slam attack for a creature of its size) and may be lifted into the air. An affected creature must succeed on a Reflex save (DC 10 + half monster’s HD + the monster’s Strength modifier) when it comes into contact with the whirlwind or take damage as if it were hit by the whirlwind creature’s slam attack. It must also succeed on a second Reflex save or be picked up bodily and held suspended in the powerful winds, automatically taking the indicated damage each round. A creature that can fly is allowed a Reflex save each round to escape the whirlwind. The creature still takes damage but can leave if the save is successful.

Creatures trapped in the whirlwind cannot move except to go where the whirlwind carries them or to escape the whirlwind. Trapped creatures can otherwise act normally, but must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell. Creatures caught in the whirlwind take a –4 penalty to Dexterity and a –2 penalty on attack rolls. The whirlwind can have only as many creatures trapped inside at one time as will fit inside the whirlwind’s volume. The whirlwind can eject any carried creatures whenever it wishes as a free action, depositing them in its space.

If the whirlwind’s base touches the ground, it creates a swirling cloud of debris. This cloud is centered on the creature and has a diameter equal to half the whirlwind’s height. The cloud obscures all vision, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. Creatures 5 feet away have concealment, while those farther away have total concealment. Those caught in the cloud of debris must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell.

Is that all I have to do? Well that's an easy trap to disarm. If my luck holds.
Krago uses Total Defense again (AC 34) and keeps walking around the pool, trying to trigger the tentacles and have them miss him.

Edit: Wait! I forgot about Trap Sense, the most useless rogue ability! Not once in my 11 levels have I ever used it because I have always disarmed traps without triggering them. But since these count as a trap, that is a +3 Dodge bonus to AC, stacking with Total Defense for AC 37 (and CMD 33).

Unfortunately for Frēodwēn, the cloud of debris that the elemental is churning up makes it nigh-impossible for him to get a bead on their opponent. The tentacles do not stir as Lady Sugarsnap carefully steps on in, all the while the elemental slams the Reclaimer into the ancient walls of the Automaton Forge. Hey. Sorry for the radio silence. My Daughter was delivered on Saturday, the 22nd, eight weeks early. She's in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the next month or so. My wife had some complications but is doing better now. We think she will be able to go home this weekend. I've been staying at the hospital with her and my daughter and haven't had time to do much but take care of and sit with them.

If you feel it would be better to replace me, I totally understand. Otherwise, I hope to be active on the boards again by next Monday.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that's what it says.

The animals total trick count is determined by the normal number (defined in the Handle Animal skill text) plus bonus tricks.

You can make handle animal checks to teach your animal companion tricks if they are below that limit, or if you replace an existing trick. The PFS house rule is that you can make said checks a number of times per scenario equal to your handle animal ranks.

Siv, I don't know if this will help or not: one of the maps I play on is so big that I can't zoom in very close to my token. I've discovered I can move it around by dragging a corner (and resizing it) to the corner of the square I want to go, then going back and dragging a different corner to resize the town to its original size, but in the new location. Let me know if that makes sense.

I apologize if there was a misunderstanding about the room searches, but I was only assuming aid in checking the doors when we started the SOP for this level. Since there hasn't been any traps on the doors, I've been saving myself some c/p time and leaving out the rolls. I will be adding those again for verification purposes and to keep which doors are trapped a secret (instead of just rolling the aid rolls if it is indeed trapped).

Assuming you want to aid Xakon on every room search, it would perhaps be best if everyone just rolled to assist instead of having me automate it. I have no issues botting your Perception rolls when it comes to doors, but searching actual rooms can vary a lot more depending who's in what room at what time and lead to different outcomes than just finding a trap or hearing a noise.

If this slows the game down considerably, I'll adjust things appropriately.

Ok, I'll have the chronicle sheets out in the next few days. I still need Hex purchases from Freod, Mudk, and Siv.

Speaking of Siv, I don't think she's coming back since it's been a month since we've heard from her. Let me know if you want to replace her or just press ahead with 5 players. The dungeon was designed for a party of 4 if that makes any difference.

We'll start Level 3: Splinterden on November 1st.

I'm fine with 5 players. Thank you so much GM Harker for hosting another successful module!

And thank you for playing, Xakon.

I've reported the session to Paizo and sent Chronicle Sheets to everyone except Freod and Mudk, as I'm still waiting to hear what hexes they want to purchase. In the email to Siv I asked the player if he was still interested in continuing, so hopefully we'll get an answer there.

As you get your character's updated let me know so I can check them for compliance to the Core rules. As I stated earlier, we'll start the next dungeon level on November 1st so hopefully that gives everyone enough time to level up.

I am taking rogue trick minor magic-acid splash in order to take arcane strike feat at 5th level. Is this permissable?

Purchases are +1 enhancement to MW chain shirt, 2 alchemist fires, 2 smokesticks, 2 holy water and 1 antitoxin for 1,180. Also spending 2 pp for wand of longstrider.

Leveled to 4!
