The ooze sloughs up to Frēodwēn and lances at him with some of its protrusions!

Just as a reminder: Frēodwēn, I need 3 DC 16 Fort saves. Let me know if you have any resistance to fire that I might be missing.

Xakon launches himself at the creature, his weapon lancing through to destroy the beast. And while the creature's molten body is hot enough to destroy any of the arrows thus far launched at it, starmetal is already auspiciously hard and resistant to being warped under such heat; never mind enchanted starmetal.

However, perhaps in a moment of hubris, Xakon decides to take a bite out of the ooze. Not only is it rather impervious to such attacks, molten lava is not one of the many foodstuffs Halflings are in the habit of consuming.

Molten lava damage to the mouth: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Lady Sugarsnap has a hunch, and she acts upon it, and as the icy pebbles come down upon it, she finds her hunch validated, as the creature desperately attempts to dodge out of the way of the hail. Fortunately, most of the hail bounces off of it without dealing much cold damage.

Vulnerable to cold!

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving, if you partake of such things.

The pathfinders move on, round the bend to behold a pool of glowing green liquid, surrounded by long, metallic tentacles writhing around the edge of the liquid; seemingly in search of "prey". In one corner of the room, another swarm of junk pieces lies inactive. The air, which wasn't very pleasant to begin with, is now thick with the aroma of rotting flesh.

Krago, you can obviously spot the trap. As in, it's those mechanical segmented tentacles. To disable them though, you will need to get adjacent. Which involves its own set of issues. Place yourselves, and the moment you have a plan and step into that room, we will go to initiative.

The air elemental transforms into a large whirlwind tornado. as it attempts to suck in as many of the little critters as it can to hold them for as long as it can.

whirlwind up to 40' high (will stop at ceiling of course.) can pick up creatures medium and smaller, reflex DC 18, damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Whirlwind:

Whirlwind (Su)
Some creatures can transform themselves into whirlwinds and remain in that form for up to 1 round for every 2 HD they have. If the creature has a fly speed, it can continue to fly at that same speed while in whirlwind form; otherwise it gains a fly speed equal to its base land speed (average maneuverability) while in whirlwind form.

The whirlwind is always 5 feet wide at its base, but its height and width at the top vary from creature to creature (minimum 10 feet high). A whirlwind’s width at its peak is always equal to half of its height. The creature controls the exact height, but it must be at least 10 feet high.

The whirlwind form does not provoke attacks of opportunity, even if the creature enters the space another creature occupies. Another creature might be caught in the whirlwind if it touches or enters the whirlwind, or if the whirlwind moves into or through the creature’s space. A creature in whirlwind form cannot make its normal attacks and does not threaten the area around it.

Creatures one or more size categories smaller than the whirlwind might take damage when caught in the whirlwind (generally damage equal to the monster’s slam attack for a creature of its size) and may be lifted into the air. An affected creature must succeed on a Reflex save (DC 10 + half monster’s HD + the monster’s Strength modifier) when it comes into contact with the whirlwind or take damage as if it were hit by the whirlwind creature’s slam attack. It must also succeed on a second Reflex save or be picked up bodily and held suspended in the powerful winds, automatically taking the indicated damage each round. A creature that can fly is allowed a Reflex save each round to escape the whirlwind. The creature still takes damage but can leave if the save is successful.

Creatures trapped in the whirlwind cannot move except to go where the whirlwind carries them or to escape the whirlwind. Trapped creatures can otherwise act normally, but must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell. Creatures caught in the whirlwind take a –4 penalty to Dexterity and a –2 penalty on attack rolls. The whirlwind can have only as many creatures trapped inside at one time as will fit inside the whirlwind’s volume. The whirlwind can eject any carried creatures whenever it wishes as a free action, depositing them in its space.

If the whirlwind’s base touches the ground, it creates a swirling cloud of debris. This cloud is centered on the creature and has a diameter equal to half the whirlwind’s height. The cloud obscures all vision, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. Creatures 5 feet away have concealment, while those farther away have total concealment. Those caught in the cloud of debris must succeed on a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell.

Krago moves into position cautiously.

Tentacle #1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Tentacle #2: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

A caution that pays off as the tentacles seem to be at a loss as to how to deal with flesh that doesn't care for being assimilated. Meanwhile, Frēodwēn moves to an advantageous position as he begins his performance.

As Krago sizes up the mechanical tentacles, he notices that after the first attack, they appear uninterested to continue their attempts.

Is that all I have to do? Well that's an easy trap to disarm. If my luck holds.
Krago uses Total Defense again (AC 34) and keeps walking around the pool, trying to trigger the tentacles and have them miss him.

Edit: Wait! I forgot about Trap Sense, the most useless rogue ability! Not once in my 11 levels have I ever used it because I have always disarmed traps without triggering them. But since these count as a trap, that is a +3 Dodge bonus to AC, stacking with Total Defense for AC 37 (and CMD 33).

The CMD part is probably the most important one. They don't target your AC.

Sugar and truffles enter the room but try and stay away from the tentacles for now. is it safe to enter? that elemental is keeping that metal thing busy.

Arrow #1, Concealment (High is good): 1d100 ⇒ 28

Arrow #2, Concealment (High is good): 1d100 ⇒ 12

Unfortunately for Frēodwēn, the cloud of debris that the elemental is churning up makes it nigh-impossible for him to get a bead on their opponent. The tentacles do not stir as Lady Sugarsnap carefully steps on in, all the while the elemental slams the Reclaimer into the ancient walls of the Automaton Forge. Krago, in the meantime, decides that perhaps there is a way to disable these tentacles that does not involve tools.

Tentacle grab?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

Approaching a "live" tentacle, he manages to artfully step out of the way as it clumsily attempts to lift the dwarf off his feet.

The golem, meanwhile, finishes to assemble itself and begins pounding at the elemental.

While Xakon is certain his aim was true in spite of the cloud of debris generated by the elemental, all he hears is a dull *clank* of metal on metal as the hammer returns to him.
