On a serious note, let me know if you are trying access Castle Lym.
Not until we're done here. And we know there's an exit; probably better to go that way than try and force our way out. Runeforge was a maximum-security laboratory facility, after all.

Lol! To like, several posts. Because there are 41 FREAKING NEW POSTS in the discussion thread. Are you people insane?! :P
Let's try and break it down as best as we can, shall we?
As per the Tome: Take it, Tomaru. Please take it. And HA! Skald! Yeah please don't tempt me. ;P
Per the belt: Thordak has a Belt of Physical Perfection +4 so he don't need it.
Per Navior: Will pm him.
Per Robe of the Archmagi (evil): Lol! Perfect! Totally can see him sitting by the fireplace with a good smoke wearing his awesome robe. I'm sure there are no side effects, if so............ ah well. :)
Per the Simulacrum: Awesome! Multiple Thordaks would be greatness!
Per the French maid outfits: No comment and NO Thordak II will not be wearing such.
Per the -1 bazillion xp's: Lol! That's what y'all get for all the disgusting french maid talk! A worthy penalty Thordak freely accepts just to teach the rest of you a well deserved lesson(at least in Thordak's mind. Because he just would not stand for such). :)
Per the inappropriate Bard: No. Just... no.
Per the possibility of the pc I might play: Does it matter? Whoever he is, he's just gonna be lame anyway because it won't be Thordak. :(

GAMEPLAY

Per Tomaru having to read Thordak's quote 3 times: Lol!
Per OG apologizing profusely for having run the encounter due to Praxim's suggestive post: Lol!
There. I think I finally have caught up. Crikey that was a lot of catching up. 41 discussion and 13 gameplay posts. It's like the thread exploded!

Yeah I pm'd him last night. Hopefully he'll holler back tonight or at the least by tomorrow. The weekend - as we all know - is always kind of iffy though.
I just left him a shout out to check his box in the game Lynn, Tomaru, he, and I all play in.
This is the 1,234th post made with this alias. His first post was April 8th 2010 when he applied for this game, making Praxim my longest-running character ever.

We have a paladin archer with his stone giant side-kick, a dwarven barbarian (also counts as the paladin’s sidekick), a half-orc evoker, and human cleric (wizard’s sidekick).
Maybe something of a rogue/bard persuasion? We definitely need a bard who takes RW pop songs and rewrites them in character with suggestive and disturbing lyrics. Every party should have one of those.

LOL!
"WHATEVER! I'LL NOT BE YER BLASTED SIDEKICK YA BLASTED ELF!" the dwarf yells as he gives a mighty huff and starts walking away. "'Sidekick'. I'll give ya a sidekick alright. I'll kick ya in the... in the SIDE with a, with a, with a KICK is what I'll do. See how ya like that, ya, ya, ya...," he searches for a good, insulting word and decides on one he thinks suffices quite well, "ELF!"

LOl!
NOOOO! No one needs this type of Bard! NO ONE! I'm pretty sure we all decided against this. Like ALL OF US. Yep, double checking my math, it was actually all of us. I took a vote and everyone said NO to this. EVERYONE. I even had other folks from other games vote NO on this one. I mean, what are the odds it's unanimous like that? Pretty amazing if you ask me. It's actually so stinking unbelievable, one might assume I'm making all this up! HA! What a funny thought.
Well I'm sorry, bud, but I don't just make this stuff up, I don't. *Shrugs* I just roll with it like any of us. I know, I know, it doesn't seem right but, hey, keep the ol' chin up and you'll do fine.

Praxim |

Do you want to fix our snowman?
Oh, curse this sunny day!
Do you think his little pippin is
Now drippin’. Jeez!
It’s almost gone away!!
I think we’ll use the carrot,
That’s on his face.
It’s not like he needs that nose.
Do you want to fix our snowman?
Is it even still a snow ’man’.
Oh well. Who knows?

Javell DeLeon |

Hi folks!
I'm really impressed at how long this game has been going. Way to go! I'm looking forward to joining you.
Is there a particular type of character your party needs that I should consider? Also, Old Guy GM, let me know any special rules I should be aware of for creating a character.
We lost a megablaster(Aurora). But we do have Lym and Tomaru slapping some nasty magic of their own all the time. Tomaru brings out Archie and his gang a lot so that helps with the melee side of things(Well, for fodder anyway). ;) And Lym, well, she cranky's Thordak a lot and so that's pretty scary stuff. :)
Praxim has his machine gun and it just turns into a reboot of Goodfellas when he holds down the trigger. Just a bloodbath.
So, yeah, outside of that, roll with what you want. We don't have a rogue but we haven't really been in need of one to be honest(at least it's felt like we haven't).
If you want to run a rogue type, you could always try a slayer. I'd like to run one of those at some point. They seem cool.
Edit: STOP WITH THE TWISTED SNOWMAN SONG, PRAXIM!!! Killing me, man, kill-ing me!!! :P

We've had a rogue in the past, but, frankly, we've been able to muscle or magic our way through almost all of the AP thus far. What would you like to play? Play that and we'll work it out.
Lym - Mastermind (1/2 Orc Conjuror Wizard)
Praxim - Surgical Strike (Elf Archer Paladin)
Thordak - Lovable Grump (Dwarf Barbarian)
Aurora - Megablaster (Gnome Sorcerer; former PC you'll be replacing)
Rexil - Rookie Meatshield (Giant Fighter?; follower)
Tomaru - Underpowered Soul of the Group (Human Cleric)

Lym Blackhand |

Don't do that. It'll lower all his stats to 1, we'll have to carry him around, and you know he'll just keep singing. >_<

Praxim |

And I can't fight this feeling anymore
I've forgotten what I started singing for
It's time to bring this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars, forever
Cause I can't fight this feeling anymore
I've forgotten what I started singing for
And if I have to sing on till I’m sore
And you drag me cross the floor
Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore

Having had a look at the D&D 5e srd, I think I can safely say... blegh.
It's clear they tried to improve on 4e, but it still falls flat compared to 3.5 (to me, anyway), and that means it doesn't hold a candle to Pathfinder 1e.
I really hope Paizo doesn't look to 5e to inspire the upcoming second edition. I adore the lavish range of options of this system

![]() |

Do I have to pull this thread over? Keep it up and I'll come back there and give you something to sing about.
I like 5th edition. I think its a good system. Much closer to how I think D&D should feel than 4th edition ever was. I think Pathfinder and 5th edition are complementing cousins.
I understand how you could get your impression from the 5E SRD, though. They are so scared of being 'pirated' that they play things too close to the chest. You have to have the book in front of you to play the game or you have to pay again to get access to the information online. That's not something I want to do.

Javell DeLeon |

Okay, I think I might go with a bard of some sort. But for Javell's sake, it won't be one who rewrites real-world pop songs. :-)
Lol! THANK YOU! You're awesome, Navior, good sir. Unlike a certain paladin - whose name won't be mentioned out of respect. (And who may or may not be and elf. And probably or probably not shoots a lot of arrows. Okay, I think that's it of he who must not be named. Did I mention that he was a he?) ;)
Borrrrrrr—ring!!!
Just think of the possibilities! He could use a war hammer and when he casts mage armour start singing, Can’t touch this! Nah nah nah nah! Hammer time!!
HA! Funny enough, there was a dwarf cleric I played in RL back in the day, his name is Emercy Hammertime. :) I love doing the whole Gimli impersonation - and was the only one who liked to "talk in character" at the table(it was all family so it wasn't a big deal) - so I would always introduce myself as: "Em-er-cy Ham-mer-time!" and when combat started: "It's Hammertime! Ya canno' touch this!" and then my dwarf would do a crazy dance. So much fun. :)
Did I mention minus one bazillion xp???
Don't do that. It'll lower all his stats to 1, we'll have to carry him around, and you know he'll just keep singing. >_<
Lol! Oh man, I'm thinking this XP hit is gonna bite us in the rump at some point.
And I love it! "Oh no... it's HER. Don't let her see me! She'll sing at me!" (Keeping up Appearances for any of you who've ever seen it. Funny show if you like British comedy).
Edit: And I just wanted to thank Praxim for gifting me with having REO Speedwagon now stuck in my head. *Looks at him crankily* ;) (Honestly, though, I do keep switching back from that one to Let it go. *Shrugs* And at least this time there not horrible songs which is typically the case). :P

Javell DeLeon |

Raging leaper? Really? You know, I've never really looked at those type of powers. The raging climb/swim/etc types. I always thought they were a waste.
But looking at it now it has me intrigued. Okay, I'm curious. Why would you mention that one?

Lym Blackhand |

I was statting out a character with levels in Barbarian recently, and as she can't fly, this seemed like a solid way to allow her to inflict death from above.

Javell DeLeon |

Ohhh, okay. Yeah that is the one thing that's kind of holding me back on it. Now that Thordak has ranks in fly(due to the headband) it kind of makes it tough to pick it.
But when he doesn't have fly cast on him, man he would soooo be able to leap. With his rage speed and let's say haste was cast on him, he'd get a +34 to jump! Calculating it, he could jump near 14' straight up! And that's without a running start because he would already be considered running with that rage power! That's what makes it so tempting.

Praxim |

Big acrobatics scores are fun. My favourite character ever was a monk with big jumping and ki throw. There was the time me she cleared the 30-foot chasm, and the other time she leapt straight up close to 20 feet, grabbed the gargantuan black dragon that was breathing on them, and judo flipped it onto the ground below.
I love jumping.

Javell DeLeon |

THAT'S it! I'm picking it. Because that does sound like a ton of fun and it sounds like Thordak.
You grabbed a GARGANTUAN BLACK DRAGON AND JUDO FLIPPED IT?!?! Seriously?! How?! Because that is just insanely awesomely cool and for the life of me I cannot comprehend how you could've pulled that off game mechanics wise so please... Enquiring Minds want to know. :)

Praxim |

Ki throw lets you throw an opponent of your size, but also lets you spend ki points to be able to throw bigger than you. She spent 1 ki point to high jump and three to flip the beast down below where the Paladin with smite evil and inquisitor with dragon bane were waiting. Nothing untoward mechanics wise, really.

Javell DeLeon |

Oh well now that is just totally stinking cool! HA! I'm totally seeing this now: THIS! Lol! :D

Javell DeLeon |

Hey, is this guy our new PC? It would be quite convenient if he is.
Lol! THAT'S true. Boy he'd sure put us martial types to shame. :P
I'm still in the process of making my character. Sorry it's taking awhile. It's been a busy week. I'll have it done sometime tonight though.
Dude. No worries, man. It's a 14th level character. Man those take FOR-EV-OR. ESPECIALLY spell type people. Man it is a creation beating. :P

Tell me about it! It's been a while since I created a high-level character from scratch and it took me much longer than I anticipated.
Character's stats are done now, though. I'm still working on the background, but I am more or less ready to proceed.

Lym Blackhand |

Might I recommend taking the Spellsong feat?
It's really convenient for Bards.

Hmmm. I was unfamiliar with that one. It does look interesting, particularly the ability to use bardic performance to maintain concentration on a spell. However, I only have one spell that requires concentration, and I don't see a lot of need for the other effect, so I'm not sure it's all that useful to me.
