The threat to Varisia, in the form of an army of giants led by a stone giant wizard named Mokmurian, is over. Our heroes slew the evil giant in his lair in the fortress of Jorgenfist. But a greater threat now looms...

Yeah every time I wake my computer and go to Paizo, I've got to sign in every time.
And when I post and go back to my campaigns, it shows a new post in that game thread which I posted in and it is MY post.

6? In unison? This is the worst boy band ever.

Thordak has a +2 to save vs spell. Does a 24 save? Just in case the 22 didn't save is why I ask.

I'm thinking that's the wall Tomaru put up? That blue line?

Then scratch the attack(obviously :P). Will just move.

Lym Blackhand wrote: I should have opened by casting Chain Frost instead of talking. =_= It wouldn't have mattered in this case. They went before you in the Init order. I was giving you a chance to translate (as a free speaking action) for everyone so Praxim and Thordak could act appropriately. They came out and said to 'keep your screams to a minimum'...pretty blatant!
Communal Resist Energy - generally fire - starts to become a must at higher levels. Even lower level casters can dish it when there's six of them. And FYI, this encounter is straight out of the book - I didn't change anything. It gets rougher as we get higher level!

Right.
If we survive this, we need to sit down and have a strategy session.
D&D 3.5 had an absolutely beautiful spell that was basically a triggered energy resistance spell; it remained dormant until you got hit with element damage, then triggered and turned into resistance (whatever the heck you got hit with).
Maybe we should develop our own version of that.
In my RL game, we always have a CRE up just prior to getting into combat when we can. At a minimum, most everyone has a fire resist ring. I guess you could call it metagaming, except every soldier ever has tried to have the right preparations and gear before a fight.

Did anyone NOT see the Aurora-bomb coming? That's one angry gnome.
I thought she might do something like that. I just hope she stays within 30' burst for some healing.

"We don't need better gear!" said no soldier ever... :p
Yes she's simmering prety badly but as the threat has ended and no-one appears to have died she'll be able to keep a lid on it, this time anyway ;)
Thank the gods the casters didn't have any fire resist themselves!

Those hit points listed are actually while raging. My bad. I forgot to break it back down to normal. In case you're wondering.
It's actually 186/186.
That's Thordak's secret. He's always raging.
Ok, I am back from the Thanksgiving trip to the relatives. Hope everyone had a good holiday (if you are here in the States). Will be back on it tomorrow - work catch-up!

So I log in to find the message I sent from my iPhone at the airport - you know, the one that said I will be out all week - didn't go through. But I am here, so let me get things back on track today.

Still busy. I would point out that I don't see my post that Javell is quoting. And no word from Fiendish, but I'm wondering if she is having problems too.
EDIT: I found it. I put it in the gameplay thread.

Ok gang, it looks like everything crazy will die down by Monday. I intend to get everything going again. I still haven't heard from Aurora - if someone else could PPM her as well.
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness
Sounds good. Man I sure hope we haven't lost her. That would sooooo stink.
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness
Man I gotta say it looks concerning. Checked out a game that Aurora is running and they are also wondering where she is. I sure hope and pray she's okay.

Ah! Gotcha. I remember that now. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
This is definitely not looking good about Aurora/Fiendish. I've been corresponding with some of her players, and they have no responses from her either. We've got a mutual "I'll let you know if I hear anything" agreement going.
Should we DMPC her? Anyone want to play her for now? I'd hate to write her out of the game just yet.
Female Half-Orc Evoker 10/Cyphermage 6; Init. +2; Perception +12; Darkvision; Arcane Sight; Fly 40 ft.; AC 23 (+3 Dex*, +1 armour, +1 Deflection, +1 natural, +3 Mage Armour, +4 Shield); HP 91/104; Fort +9, Ref +8, Will +16
I'd be happy to see her DMPC'ed (though not as happy to see her return safe and sound).
If someone else is going to double up and play her, I'm not the right person. I love the way Aurora rains down destruction on our enemies, but my casting style is WAY different. ^^;
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness
Man I SOOOO would just because I don't want to lose her either. But I pretty much never play arcane. I played a wizard in RL once and I've got a witch I'm playing currently. That's it. I'm just not an arcane fan. (Although, I've always wanted to play a dragon disciple because they just seem cool).
Plus, I'd have to read up on what she can do because I don't really understand how she's able to pull off most of the stuff she pulls off.
Worse comes to worst, I could give it a go but it would not be pretty in any form or fashion. Probably be a bit pathetically sad to be honest. :P

Me, I'm too cautious. ^^; Always weighing the danger against my arsenal, no matter what kind of arcane class I'm playing as.
Aurora's charm was that she just hit whatever we were facing, and hit it HARD.
F/R/W: +25/+23/+22 AC/T/FF: 33/19/26; CMD: 36; Perc: +22; Init: +9; Max HP: 179; Current HP: 168; Temp 0;
I can barely keep track of my own characters’ abilities most times, and am usually only scrambling together a post on the fly, so I’m not the best choice to bot Aurora.

Lym Blackhand wrote: Aurora's charm was that she just hit whatever we were facing, and hit it HARD. Ha! That's no joke. Man she just blasts away at everything relentlessly. It's pretty awesome. :)
I've played multiple characters before, one of them a sorcerer. I don't think I'd play Aurora like Fiendish, but I'm willing to give it a go. This will only be a stop-gap measure though. We'll have to figure out what to do with Aurora/Fiendish eventually. Maybe recruit another player to play her or bring in their own character.
Dax, if you would do that for the short term, that would be great. We can find a spot to add another person if that's what we want to do.
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

So sorry. I have another character in a different game named Torod. He's also a caster and I use the same method for keeping track of active spells in combat. So, oops!
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness
Ahhhh, okay. Whew! That's good to know. Man I sure was thinking I missed something somewhere.

I read that and didn't even blink...only because I was in that game, so I'm used to seeing it!
So to help me play the high level sorcerer that is Aurora, I tried to reverse engineer her character sheet. It looks like Fiendish did it by hand. There were a few minor errors, but I think I was able to work it all out. Time will tell.
Oh! Rather than create a new profile, I decided to resurrect Markum's. So let the confusion begin.
