Neither... is in "whatever order the GM finds better for the action". But sometimes it can be said is in "whatever order the GM finds more amusing".
Other than that, group initiatives. You go, the bad guys go, and so on.

Normally I would say you can use whatever bonuses your allies give you on the same turn. You know each other, and already know when to delay a little to let them cast first.
If that grants you an extra attack, feel free to add it.

Got control of the campaign! Will clear it up shortly, so we can continue.

Welp, folks, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say this one's done. Corsario won't respond to my pm - I sent it about four days ago - so I would have to say he probably has no more interest in this one. I know 4 days isn't that long of a time but it has been 3 weeks since he last posted in the game thread.
So - if that is the case - I gotta say it's been an absolute blast. Hate to lose such a good game with such a solid group of folks but I guess that is how the pbp gaming world crumbles sometimes, even though it stinks.
It sure seems odd though. To quit so quickly after volunteering to take this game on. About the only other issue I can think of that might be a reason is the boards with the big new update and how everything is screwed up after it. It's possible he's not getting any new updates next to the gameplay on his campaign page. The PM dot may not be working either. Or whatever the case. Of course, if I took up a game and didn't see any new posts in the campaign tab after a few days I'd check on it and find out why.
Man I don't know. It's all a big guess.

Lym Blackhand |

Shall we look for another GM? We've come so far, it'd be a waste to let the game die.

Javell DeLeon |

If it's ok with everyone, I might be able to take this one back. If you guys can give me until Monday to get my schedule straightened around, I can let you know definitively one way or another.
I would completely understand if you wanted to go in another direction. Let me know.
Lol! Are you kiddin' me?! Is it okay?! Man if you said: "Hey, guys, I might be able to take this one back but it might be around September... of next year."
I'd say: "Heck yeah! No prob! See you then, bud!" (I'm totally dead serious by the way) :)
If there's even the slightest possibility of you taking this one back, that's an absolute no-brainer. There's zero chance of even contemplating another GM. You rock, dude! This game was meant for you to run it because it's just not the same game without you, my man. You left some pretty big shoes to fill, OG. Not everyone can wear size 13's. (Well, I do, but you get the point). ;)

Dax = 'yes'
Lym = 'yes'
Javell....
Javell...
Ok, Javell = 'meh'
Lol! Oh man so dang funny. (Wait, was I not clear?) :D
I don’t know.
What qualifications do you have to run a RotR game?
Lol! Just like Praxim. That totally sounds like him. ;)
Praxim wrote:Duh...I have 'GM' in my name...I don’t know.

Lol! You gotta admit, he's got you there. ;)
He didn't go to GM school for all those years to be called Mr.
Lol! Yeah don't call him 'Mr.', 'Mr.' sucks! That'll be Mr. GM to you, pal! Oh wait...

Old Guy GM |

So apparently the boards did not wish to be disturbed...for a week. Is everyone back? Praxim, Lym, Tomaru, Veronica, Thordak?
So I can take the game back, and I'll work on getting the control of it. I don't know how buried the Paizo IT folks are right now, so it may take a while. In the meantime, I have a pretty good idea where you are - I've been following along - so I'll get it back up pronto while I wait.
Keep an eye on this space!

Javell DeLeon |

Still here. I've taken myself a vacation and have been out. Will be able to post normally again when I finally get back. Hopefully Thursday but probably Friday.
Would've let y'all know but as we all know the boards have been up and down and I left during this downtime and couldn't post.
Sorry for any hassle.

Lym Blackhand |

Let's strategize a bit.
I have a pale lavender elipsoid ioun stone orbiting me; it can absorb 4th-level spells.
Spells I have left:
6 - Maximized fireball*
5 - Break enchantment, Maximized scorching ray*, Prying eyes, Summon monster V
4 - Dimension door, Remove curse, Summon monster IV
3 - Dispel magic, Fireball*, Fly, Haste, Invisibility sphere, Lightning bolt*
2 - Gust of wind*, Knock, Mirror image, Protection from arrows, Rope trick, Scorching ray*
1 - Color spray, Hold portal, Magic missile*, Shield, Summon minor monster
0 - Dancing lights, Detect magic, Mage hand, Message
I haven't used my Robe of runes' power to recall spells yet today.
I have scrolls of Protection from energy, Spontaneous immolation, Scorching and freezing ray x2, and one of Dimensional shackle.
This whackjob is likely a Thassilonian Transmuter, so we need be wary of spells like Disintegrate and Flesh to stone, to name but a few.
Chance he'll open with a 4th-level spell seems slim, so the ioun-stone is not a guaranteed guard.
Tomaru is MVP; whoever else falls, we need him to fix us up afterward. Everyone look out for him.
Do we want to:
1 - try and blitz him, meaning I open with my best attack
2 - debuff, hitting him with Dispel magic
3 - overwhelm, casting summon monster spells
4 - distract, opening with summon minor monster
5 - delay with invisibility sphere
6 - outmaneuver with dimension door
7 - other?
Whatever we do, Aurora should avoid elemental attacks, at least to start. Chance this guy is covered in high-end abjurations seems likely.

Lym Blackhand |

Hmm. If we're going to use Dispel magic, it might be best if we hit him with that straightaway and do it together, taking away more of his defences and making him easier to hit for our warriors.
Tomaru, do you have a Dispel handy?
How about Aurora?

Lym Blackhand |

Come to think of it, if this whackjob has transmuted himself into this form, shouldn't our new, augmented weaponry be extra effective against him?

Praxim |

Is the silver dude medium or large? Are we dealing with a wizard who’s put his consciousness inside a mithral golem, because yikes!!
I would say open with the dispel magic barrage. Rexil will ready rock throwing to disrupt his casting, and Praxim and Thordak will see if he bleeds silver.

Lym Blackhand |

Oooh, I forgot, I forgot! Our commanding weapons can absorb three harmful transmutations per day! :D This situation is looking much more manageable!
And yeah, a Dispel-barrage is probably the best way to go from the casters.
Warriors, please delay until we've cast, then hit him with your best shots. Everybody wield your commanding weapon if possible. ^_^

Old Guy GM |

I have a significant problem with the strategizing at this juncture of the encounter. If you would have this discussion prior to meeting Ordikon, it would be fine, but determining strategy after you are standing in front of him?
I'm willing to let it go for the sake of moving things along and not being overly difficult; I can even convince myself that the majority of you have been fighting together long enough that this isn't a stretch to act tactically this way.
In the future, let's try to have this kind of in-depth discussion before we act the very first round. It's not like he's unprepared for you to do something dumb...
;)

Praxim |

Let’s say that from now on, this is our SOP when confronting an evil enemy spellcaster: dispel magic barrage.
I think, given our history, we would have done this planning beforehand, but with the change of guard and Paizo imploding for a few weeks, our regular mojo is off a bit.

Lym Blackhand |

No matter what happens next, this is one fight we should try to remember always... :D

Old Guy GM |

Just a heads up, but I had no dot in the game thread. Couldn’t figure out what that last post meant, so I went to check. Others might be in the same boat.
Interesting. I haven't had that issue yet. As to your scan, I believe he still scans as evil from what I can tell reading Baleful Polymorph. Let's say he does.
EDIT: I was incorrect, he does not scan as evil, he assumes the alignment of his new form per the rules.

Praxim |

So the fact that it doesn’t register as evil proves that it failed its Will save as well.
It could still be dispelled, at which point, we have a very angry mithral wizard in our midst.
Interestingly, baleful polymorph also says that when you fail the Fort save, it also dispels all other current polymorph effects. I wonder if that also undid the mithral form.
Praxim won’t mention it anymore in character, but it would be nice to get access to the magical bling the guy was no doubt wearing (not that it seems to have helped him much).

Javell DeLeon |

Sirens wail. Soon the police arrive. Tipped off by a member of PETA, Tomaru is arrested for animal cruelty. A distraught Lym goes on a wizardly rampage that catches Aurora and Rexil in the swathe of destruction. Praxim reaps his vengeance on the now-evil wizard and slays her. But the guilt of destroying a former friend ruins him, and he rejects his holy oaths and becomes a drunken sot in the gutters of Magnimar. Veronica, aghast at the sudden violence awash in this new group of hers, 'ports away...far away, to start anew.
Thordak, oblivious as always, turns at the far end of the hallway and asks: "Where'd everybody go?"
Campaign over. Man! That was fun!
It's all fun and games until someone kills a small woodland creature...
LOL!!! Oh man that is ABSOLUTE greatness! Totally classic comedy. LOL! Oh my gosh, so dang funny.
P.S. Read this to my daughter and she got a kick out of it. She's 15. And she gets it. She likes Pathfinder. :)
