How would you imagine your mom reacting to all this? I can roleplay the phone conversation but I'm not sure how to play her.
I didn't really think about it before, which is why I left it as open as I did. It can kind of go in a lot of directions. I'm sort of imagining that the reason that the mother picked up and left and doesn't speak of it at all is because something happened and she doesn't know how to cope with it.
Something beyond, you know, one of them cheating on the other. Something more in the vein of the Silent Hill stuff. Kyle might also have some recurring nightmares that come up that she had as a kid and had forgotten about. I want to play with the past a bit, essentially.
As far as the mother, I don't really know. She could miss James, she could feel free, I kind of think she'd have some degree of concern about Kyle being out there, especially alone, which Kyle interprets as "Worrying mother" but actually comes from the mother knowing something she doesn't? So it could go as a basically completely ignoring James but focusing on Kyle, or it could be basically deadpan, or it could be emotional.
Honestly, go with what feels like it'll be the most interesting / fun, I've left a lot of things open because I can go in a few different directions with it.

I just finished Silent Hill 4 (having played the previous 3) and am just waiting for s+#~ to hit the fan here XD. I'm not sure if it's going to be a subtle change or a sudden wham like you might find in Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
Whelp I just HAD to go look DHMIS. Worth it.
It'll probably be a subtle change if I can pull it off well enough, with definitely a moment that'll signal the "changing of the seasons" so to speak.

It was my birthday weekend, so I was rather busy. My apologies, and I'll post tomorrow as soon as possible!

Another update, it looks like I misjudged the quantity of work on my last week of school. My final paper is due in Monday, and I'll be back either on that day or Tuesday.
Again, my apologies for the delays. End of semester takes precedence unfortunately.
Had one last paper to finish. I'll be doing a large update tomorrow, get this game up and jumping.

You can also just state you wish to stay/leave.
Yeah it would have been fine to say something like "I'd love to but I have to x/y/z", and Kyle would have been like "Oh no, of course, I have to get ready for the funeral anyway", but her going first totally works, too.
