EPIC!
+1
Nightflier, it seems that Sorrow's ability to communicate isn't based on who's holding her (she spoke to Duncan and Ragnar at the same time a second ago). What are the limits? I assume she only speaks Norther, but other than that I'm not sure how her communication works.

Ragnar Death-Speaker |

Sounds like selective telepathy, although it could require Dornish blood to even hear her. Or it could be that Ragnar's the only one who can hear her without being in contact.
Something like that, yeah. I need to know the details to know how to write this next scene.

Ragnar Death-Speaker |

Guys, you've both done amazing work with those scenes.
On a side note I'm going with Inspire Rage when I get to the next level so I figure such an ability is a gradual build up of her influencing other people's emotions.
Thanks. That scene was a tricky one to right. Went through a few versions before I was happy.
How does inspire rage stack or interact with barbarian rage?

Ilona Ebonblade |

Best part is it stacks with rage.
to inspire his allies (including himself ), bolstering them
against attacks and improving their combat abilities. To be
affected, an ally must be within 60 ft. and able to see and hear
the channeler. The effect lasts for as long as the channeler
maintains the ability (or for as long as the ally is in range and
can see and hear the channeler) and for 5 rounds thereafter.
The effect may be maitained for up to 1 round per channeler
level. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on initiative
rolls, attack rolls, and weapon damage rolls. Inspire fury
is a mind-affecting ability.
Improved Fury (Requires Inspire Fury): When the
channeler uses the inspire fury ability, affected creatures gain
an additional +1 morale bonus on initiative rolls, attack rolls,
and weapon damage rolls. This gift may be chosen multiple
times, and its effects stack.
Greater Fury (Requires Inspire Fury and Improved
Fury): When the channeler uses his inspire fury ability, he
can inspire supreme fury in himself or a single willing ally
within 30 feet as a move action, granting him or her extra
fighting capability. The effect lasts for as long as the inspire
fury ability continues to affect the target. A creature inspired
with greatness gains 2 bonus Hit Dice (d10s), the commensurate
number of temporary hit points (apply the target’s
Constitution modifier, if any, to these bonus Hit Dice), a +2
competence bonus on attack rolls, and a +1 competence
bonus on Fortitude saves. The bonus Hit Dice count as regular
Hit Dice for determining the effect of spells that are Hit
Dice dependant.
Each use of supreme fury on a single target uses up one
of the channeler’s daily allotments of force of personality
uses. Supreme fury is a mind-affecting ability.

Teral |

Okay, character's pretty much done. Chosen traits, and I think I've got the ranger/wildlander thing worked out. I've probably missed something somewhere, but as far as I can tell, all through except for the question below. Oh, and Nightflier, I figured out why I was confused about how you were changing Wildlanders - the bit in your profile under character creation still reads "All of the Pathfinder Ranger class abilities are still there - you just add to it Wildlander class abilities at appropriate levels - Danger Sense, Wildlander trait and Master Hunter." I went with that instead of the thing in the thread, my mistake.
Tried to finish up the extended background this evening, but the forum ate most of it (of course, when I forget to save everything to notepad, dangit), and it's very late, so that gets to go back up tomorrow.
But, before the numbers are quite done, a couple questions. Not exactly private, I suppose, but no one else really needs to see this much space taken up. So, spoiler.
Second, I'm not really into the idea of the animal companion. The character, as I have him envisioned, I just don't see with an animal following him around. If you have reasons for wanting me to have a companion, I can make it work - but I should point out that Heavensent is going to be dropping a lantern archon on me at 5th level. Storywise, I'd thought that might work out to be a physical manifestation of Anariel (the angel), sort of like my own personal little Tinkerbell. I had thought that maybe the Animal Companion feature could go to making the archon stronger, or maybe getting a weaker version of her earlier, instead of a normal animal companion. What do you think? Like I said, if you need me to have an animal, I can live with that, I just like the other idea.

Heh, I'm pretty sure I just used the random height generation and rolled really high so I think it could have been pure fluke. Add another aspect to the sibling rivralry though won't it? Little brother being nearly half a foot taller.
Really? Huh. See, I was looking at the random gen (it's how i did mine, heh), and I thought that Anang was quite a bit bigger than the max for jungle elves. I figured you'd made an executive decision to make him real large, but i guess i must've read it wrong.

Teral |

Adding a new twist into the background, but Anang, I thought I'd chat it out with you first.
I thought it might be a nice character point to have the middle brother try too hard, do something needlessly dangerous, and get himself killed, or maybe crippled. That would tone down Teral's pride something fierce, and make him a more humble person, until your downfall. At which point, he takes that guilt and turns it around to revenge, until he discovers your real fate, then turns it to finding and helping you. Whaddya think?

Ragnar Death-Speaker |

Internet back up, though shakey. I think my modem is slowly dying.
Nightflier's given us 10 days to wrap up all the stuff here at the nexus. How so we want to go about this?
I'd recomend that we make a list here of the things that need to be done, figure out how many days it'll take to do them all, and then post a one day at a time montage as we move through the list.
Any important character interactions that happen on a given day should be allowed to run their course before we move onto the next.
That's my two vp. Any other thoughts?
Here's the list as I understand it, in order of execution-
- Gather wood/smelt steel for weapons.
- Make armor and weapons
- enchant Ilona's sword
- drain nexus
- GTFO
also on the list in no particular order-
- Gather more food for refugees
- scout for signs of Zafina+Co. Try to obscure the tracks that we left when coming back here.
- take the opportunity to research new spells now that we're up another level.
- train to raise HP as high as possible (as per NF's house rules)
Anything I left off?

Chops the Defender Dworg |

You need a continuous month of training in order to gain 1 hp, so that means that you do not have the time for that.
I know in game time, there hasn't been enough time. But I have been writing at various moments that Chops has been training when he could. About how much time do you think he has left?

He needs a continuous month in game time. This is permanent hp gain, so it requires certain sacrifices on the part of PCs, such as one month of game time spent on just that.

Chops the Defender Dworg |

Anything I left off?
- Love scenes
- Scouting should be conducted twice daily.
- Not necessary but some basic training with spears or for the people.

Gilian |

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. My wife and both daughters have been ill last week and while they were all better, the older one has caught something else. This is the first time i can sit in front of the computer for all the week-end.
I'm fine with all that's been said. Gilian can help gathering food and hiding the tracks.
From a story point of view, we can also help the refugee fortify their new home by getting them to build a palisade.

I expect lots of flowers and candy first...seriously, this would be a good chance for Durathoin to practice wooing Solvi. This would certainly allow her to feel loved, certainly a feeling in short supply in her life.
As for refugees, she would try to get someone to safeguard the library, and if there is time, find someone who is literate, to try to recover as much knowledge that may otherwise be lost.

Duncan Bloodforged |

We should probably make a pot or two for the prisoners. Nightflier, how much metal do we have? And how many weapons and armors do we already have for the former prisoners? Some of us with survival skill should at least try and show them how to make simple traps or things like that, if they don't already know.

There is more than enough metal in the forge for whatever you want to make and there is enough armor and weapons from the dwarfs killed in the Tomb Prison and the soldiers to arm the prisoners pretty well.
One of the prisoners is blacksmith, so he can make whatever you don't.

Would someone mind writing up a summary of the first day's work and stuff? I'll take over on day two when ragnar gets back and cover the forging. Then Ilona can summerize the time it takes for her to enchant Requiem, and Solvi can do the nexus draining after that.
Being the new guys, I'd like to put in my vote for Duncan or Anang to do day one, since I think it would be interesting to see their take on things.
I'm currently working on the next chapter of Muni's Chronicle. (you might have noticed the lack of yapping bird lately. He's been gone since the group arrived at the nexus again.) It's going to be a long one. I'll let you know when it's finished.

Don't forget to include Fate Points in his profile.

I'll do it, it just wanted to do another post with the ex-prisoners and see if anybody else wanted to have an action in meantime. When nightflier replies, I'll go on and describe the actual work in the forge.

Teral |

Just checking in to see if anyone has two cents to offer on the character, and/or if you guys are okay with me joining in the first place. =) And for reference, don't worry about offending me or whatever, I would totally understand if you guys just don't want another player in this thing. There's a lot of you in the first place, and you've had a lot of dropouts. Totally understandable if you feel like you're full up.
That being said, here's who I've seen sound off their votes so far.
Anang: Yes
Solvistania: Yes
Sorok: Yes
Nightflier: Abstension, but has all the votes he wants
Ragnar: Nominator/abstension
I may have missed someone in the shuffle, but I think that's everybody who's said something. Don't want to rush anyone or anything, I'm just excited about the character concept.
Speaking of the character, Teral's basically done, pending equipment and Nightflier's answers to a question or two. Still refining and adding more to the background as I find the time, and to be honest, I think that one's gonna end up real long before it's really done. I'm not really sweating getting it into passably finished condition in a hurry until I find out if you guys are cool with me in the game or not.

I don't thimk I'm going to describe the familiar-bonding process. I'm touching on it a bit in the latest chapter of the chronicle, and since no one else is around to see it, I'm just going to have Ragnar return the next day with two ravens.
Nightflier, in the early story posts back at the ruins, we established a couple of the wolves as being physical. Ostensibly, the story reason that Hugi hadn't showed up by now was because she was leading the wolves. Do you want those wolves to still be physical, or do you want them to be spirits until Ragnar picks up leade3rship or some other ability that grants them mechanically?

It's all the same to me, really. If you wish to have the wolves right now, they can be spirits and we'll deal with their mechanics later. Just remember, if you take both ravens as familiars, you get bonus just from one of them. My offer still stands if you wish to take a wolf as familiar instead of Muni.

Ragnar Death-Speaker |

My offer still stands if you wish to take a wolf as familiar instead of Muni.
Mechanically, that would be the most powerful choice, but it just doesn't make sense thematically. If one raven is going to be a familiar, then they both should. They're two sides of the same coin and it wouldn't seem right to me for one to be a familiar and not the other.
I think I'll just have the wolves be spirits. It will be simpler.
I don't know if it's worth metioning, but I'm curious why taking the wolf would get me a benifit, but taking a second raven would not. I understand not wanting to allow stacking bonuses for the purposes of curtailing min-maxing, but getting no mechanical benifit at all seems a bit harsh. I'm going to do it one way or the other because I feel like it fits the story better, I'm just wondering what your thoughts are.

It is stated in the rules that the same type of the bonuses do not stack. And I did research on the net about two familiars of the same type and the conclusion is that the bonuses do not stack.
I do respect your choice and I think that it will make a great story.

Fair enough. I don't think I'm in any danger of falling behind the power curve because of throwing away one feat, and if I do it's my own damn fault.
