TBD Background:
The Shiriki line has lived in the same Aruun village for generations. As all elves, their progeny have been few and far between. This latest generation, though, to their parent's delight and honor, sired three strong brothers. The firstborn, Teral, took his role as the eldest quite seriously from a young age. He believed in the strength of their family name, and wanted his brothers and himself to carry on the legacy with pride. He took it on himself to help his younger siblings learn the arts important to the Danisil - woodcraft, herbs, and the deadly sepi. He wasn't always the best, particularly with the sepi, for the youngest, Anang, had a natural talent for the blade that could not be denied. But regardless, he pressed them both hard, and though at times his brothers resented it, they knew he pushed himself no less. It is a proud day when one's younger siblings finally prove themselves worthy of the family name. And a day of sorrow when one returns doomed. Although Anang's fate was cruel, Teral could not speak out against the elder's decision to have him put to death; for who would want to live with the taint of the demon inside them? However, this did not mean he had to sit quietly. A desire for some kind of justice burned in Teral's heart, and mere days after his brother's execution, he set out into the Aruun, seeking the place where his brother's mind was taken. It was not long before he found the stream his brother had feverishly described, but when he arrived there, there was no demon spoor in the air, no trace or tracks to be found. None. Nearly an impossibility this deep in the jungle, and yet... there was something strange. Teral looked up at the soft chiming of what he knew could not be bells, and found hanging in the air a shimmering warmth, and a voice, pure and sweet as the first rays of dawn, rang in his head in a language long forgotten, yet known to all. Anariel am I, young one, and long have I hunted that which you seek. Astonished and alarmed at first, years of honing his reflexes against the unexpected coming to the fore, something in the jungle elf simply knew this being was not a threat. Tentatively, he responded, and through a strange and disjointed conversation, Teral discovered the presence of a celestial. Anariel told him of her ages-long bodiless hunt for the demon which had possessed his brother, and the truth of his brother's fate was revealed to him. Long separated from her home and place of power, the once-angel's strength was nearly gone, and her mind fragmented and confused, but after a time, they came to a compact. Anariel would join with Teral in a melding of sorts. Her essence would only barely survive the joining, but with time, a measure of her former power and grace might walk Eredane once more. Perhaps, with her help, his brother could yet be redeemed - or if not saved, then kept from the ranks of the damned.
