Round 6

Tristain moves back up (invisibily) to look at the situation.  He casts Disintigrate at Not-Lowls, or whatever is left of it after the onslaught.

1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 12 + 2 + 1 - 4 = 30 touch to hit;
32d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1, 3, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3, 5, 5, 3, 5, 6, 4, 2, 4, 4, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 3, 4, 2, 4, 2) = 122 damage vs. DC26 Fort for 5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3, 5) = 21

"You might be the only person I like less than Lothan.  Yeah, you heard me! Lothan is not the worst!" Tristain compliments his good friend Lothan the only way he knows how: backhandedly. Campaign is almost over, gotta get these in now...don't have a lot of time left!

Tristain's Haste: Round 7/16. You feel an urgent need to bonk your head on a wall, this can be overcome by acting quickly and decisively. If you choose to act quickly and decisively, then get +1 to attx/reflex yadayadayada. Otherwise, choose to enjoy a nice wall bonk, which is also lovely.

Wand of Magic Missile (lvl9): 29/50 left

As the creature that once employed several of you, Count Haserton Lowls IV, returns from his extradimensional maze, the group immediately attacks, slashing, stabbing and otherwise attempting to permanently end his threat. It's nearly impossible to see for a moment as bits of plant matter go everywhere, followed by a storm of dust when Tristain's spell hits. After a few seconds, when the dust clears, you realize you are alone in the tower heights. The Briarstone Witch remains dead and at long last, Lowls has been defeated and slain!

Defeating Ariadnah and the transformed Lowls prevents Carcosa from drawing Thrushmoor into its patchwork form and cuts off any power that Carcosa could have absorbed from such an event. Gathering this power might have contributed to Hastur’s emergence as an Outer God -- a fate that will not come to pass this day!

Unless you wish to remain in Carcosa and further attract the attention of Hastur, the first thing you need to do is find a way home. Thankfully, you know you can use the path to the black star occult ritual to return to Neruzavin and from there make your way home. Upon returning to Golarion, you discover that few people there are aware of the horrible dangers the heroes thwarted. There is no grand fanfare when you return and no elaborate reward. Most think Tristain is completely crazy if he speaks of it. However, those who listen to the whispers of the hidden world of the occult could know that a great evil has been stopped.

Now that your quest is complete and yours minds are restored (such as it is, with Lothan), you can return to your lives before your unfortunate encounter with Count Haserton Lowls IV (and his former followers). After your journey, many scholars on Golarion would be thrilled to hear of your adventures in the Dreamlands, the forgotten city of Neruzavin, and lost Carcosa. If one of you details your experiences in writing, that tome could fetch a high price to those who study the esoteric and occult. If put into publication, this account would sell countless copies and would earn great prestige for the author.

Congratulations! After more than eight and a half years, we have finished Strange Aeons! Everyone can take some time to wrap up their characters' stories, and I'll close the campaign in a week or two. This was the last Pathfinder 1 game I was involved with, and I really appreciate everyone putting up with me to get to the end. I'm not sure if I'll run another game -- I think I'm far busier than I was when I started running way back with Kingmaker 15 years ago, though I'll admit I'm tempted to do Hellbreakers next year -- but I would be happy to play with any of you again!

Kyffin scatters whatever ash was left from the disintegration, and though he’s tempted to piss on the ashes, he restrains himself.

He returns to town with the others, and realizes there’s nothing of his former life he cherishes. He was, by all accounts, a right-evil bastard. But that was the before-time. Now he can set his own course.

”I’m going to be an adventurer for hire I think. On the cheap for the downtrodden being pushed around the way I pushed people around under Lowls. Dunno how long that’ll last - until I get bored I suppose. But any of you are welcome to join me. It’s been a pleasure serving with you.” Not for the first time, he wishes he had a proper drink.

He heads off to find a pub. A good pub, for he has the wealth of kings to boot!

Thank you very much for seeing us through to the end Motteditor! It was a great ride.

It's been over 12 years and 21,000+ posts from when we started Reign of Winter to the conclusion of Strange Eons, I'm going to miss these games and Mott's storytelling! From the humble beginnings with Painlord and Euan in the little hamlet of Falcon's Hollow these PbP games have been a great experience. I would be more than happy to join a future game!

Al doesn't care much for the praise of scholars and writing more books, and his last attempt at the literary arts didn't end so well. Now that the world has been saved he's content to get a pint at a good pub and start planning for the future. His old joints and arthritis aren't meant for adventuring any more, it's time for building a little farm and planting a small orchard. He can sell some of the expensive armor and items he's gained to build a good property, complete with a solid head bonking post should Tristain ever visit. "Ain't no sense in hanging around this dusty tower, let's get a drink. There's a little pub back in town called 'The Starting Corner' and that seems like a fine place for figuring out what's next." The old man slowly starts plodding back to where it all began what seems like an eon ago.

As Not Lowls gets utterly obliterated, Lothan cuts his eyes from right to left, wondering if there are any more bad guys left. "Is that it?" he asks. With none forthcoming, he stows his bow and relaxes.

Reaching into his pack, he pulls out a cigarette and a match and lights it up. Taking a big puff for the first time, he hacks out the smoke violently, feeling as if he's about to die. Tossing the cigarette down hurriedly, "Crap! I swear, that garbage will kill you," he nods emphatically, tossing the rest of the pack away.

Taking a deep, clean breath this time, "Well, I'm guessing we won." He looks around, nodding several times in a job-well-done like manner.

Feeling weary through it all, "You know, Old man who-is-totally-a-human, I think I'll have that drink with you. Between warrior women, vampire women, yourself, The Butterfly, Bonk Boy, the Big Guy and some rando dude who thinks he controls me, I could freaking use a drink. It's been a helluva ride but I am glad it's over."

"But after that? Who the hell knows or cares?" He shrugs. "Because I sure don't, I can promise you that much. Wherever the wind takes me I guess. Or maybe I'll just retire." He smiles, clapping the old man on the shoulder and walking with him.

Looking back, "The rest of y'all coming? If not, I'll just drink yours for you. It's the least I can do," he says, winking and grinning wryly.

Starflit seems temporarily dumbfounded that it's over. Eventually, she comes back to her normal self, and when Kyffin and Al suggest decompressing a bit at a pub, Starflits tags along, though she's no drinker nor (Yep--I'm gonna say it!) a social Butterfly. She tells the others that her plans are to visit the town of Thrushmoor to explain--at least to some extent--what has happened to Haserton Lowls and the larger world in general. She also meets with both Winter Klaczka and Cesadia Wrentz there to let them know that Lowls's former cronies--the incarcerated patients at the Briarstone Asylum that she'd pursued eastward--were no longer a threat to the world; in fact, they'd proven instrumental in bringing down mad Lowls and foiling his insane scheme.

From there, 'Flit says, she plans on returning to Corentyn to meet with her order there. She aims to brief her colleagues about the calamity that Lowls almost brought upon Golarion and then spend some time recording her experiences into the order's annals for posterity.

"Not sure what I'll do after that," she admits, running a hand through her hair. "Probably get a haircut," she laughs before again turning serious. "I guess I'll stay on the lookout for more threats from beyond. My organization knew that things lurked in that dark spaces between the stars but hoped they'd never threaten our world, at least not in our lifetimes. Now Lowls has proven that it's a very real possibility, and who's to say that there isn't another threat currently in the works...maybe even a Plan B from one of Lowls's cronies?"

The Black Butterfly's inquisitor gives each member of the group a big, fond farewell hug (Well...maybe a medium-sized one for Lothan) before parting ways with her comrades.

Tristain blinks his eyes as his memories are restored to him, returning him to being a lowly...

"Tutor? I was a tutor!? Not something cool, like a scientist or a theologian, or a free-thinker...but a tutor!? Awh man...will these horrors never end!?" Tristain looks around to see what the others might be feeling. He's crushed and moves to bonk his head against the wall.

"A tutor?! Why couldn't have been something cool, like a 'fairly good-looking half-elf' with low charisma?! Awh man...this is awful," he moans.

He accepts his hug with Starflit very happily.

With nothing better to do and no better ideas, Tristain follows the totally normal human to the bar where he will whinge and complain about his lowly point in life. Seems a fitting spot for him to start this next, post-AP, life.

Echoing the above. Thank you all so much. And special thanks to Starflit and Lothan for joining mid-AP and giving us all some good laughs, or good foils. Love youse guys.

Thanks again, Motteditor. We've been friends for a while and I've always appreciated playing with you.
