"Sure we can guard a caravan. Guud 'n honest work, shouldn't be an issue." The dwarf looks at the others nodding his approval.
He stops at Galen, "You feel'n ok, you look a bit flabbergasted. Whiskey still makin' you sluggish?"
Galen Goodfellow |
"I hear that voice again...still. I thought it was just the drinking, but I still hear it. Where is that skull? I think it's wanting to tell me something." Galen holds his aching head, rubbing the bridge of his nose, distracted from the mission at hand.
Reknar |
Reknar had asked for the skull from Nic - not sure if he ever gave it to him or not.
"We'll discuss that outside?" - Reknar raises an eyebrow at the debate in front of a potential employer, then turns to their interloper again - "It seems you may have your new escort right here, after we get the details of it all. Though... You haven't given us your name yet" - Reknar chuckles.

She smiles.
My apologies! I am Delilah of course. This is my manservant Don. It is just a simple escort of a few wagons from here to Gramsdenville. A good 200 miles if you are aware of where it is.. She continues describing the town and the scenery etc
Alexandra Beatrix |
Should be more open starting now
Alex smiles and says Nice to meet you, Delilah. My name is Alex. I know these men may look a bit... dense... but I assure you, we are fully capable of escorting a few wagons to Gramsdenville.
My computer wants to auto correct Gramsdenville to Bougainvillea, which is apparently a type of flower.
Thorin O'Connel |
how old is miss Delilah? How rich does she appear to be? on the scale of 1 - 10 hot attractive is she, Is she left handed? How old is don? Does he look more butler manservant or more bodyguard manservant?
"I hate to be asking the most important question, a 200 mile journey guarding goods is all well and all, whats the pay like? Whats the goods?"
He began giving her his best smile.
Reknar |

Reknar raises an eyebrow at Alex's words, puzzled at why she would say something like that, but doesn't press the matter any further, waiting for the answer to Thorin's question.
MiniGM |
she is a Middle Ages woman. About a 6/10 I suppose. Can't tell if she is left handed, she has used both so far. Don appears to be around 60 or so, and frail. Yes you have regained spells, no problem
Excellent question. I have two offers. You can take 10% of the profit, or I can pay you a flat 500 gold, and of course on the off chance something happens any "spoils" are yours to keep.
Galen Goodfellow |
Normally, Galen might volunteer for such duty, allowing the woman to keep her gold as protecting those less able was his bidden duty, but since his mind was addled by hangover, and the voice kept distracting him, he is unable to interject, much to the relief of the others.

If you volunteered us rather than letting us get paid, I could see the dwarf and half-orc lunging at you from across the table. Holding you down as the candymaker stuffed his goods down your noble throat. Ha.
Thorin O'Connel |
Wait were you wanting to punish him? Giving him amazing free candy isnt a punishment.
"You are certainly a merchant. While ten percent sounds like a good amount of coin, there is some risk involved... what are you shipping that might sway our decision."
He began smiling, and inclining his head, his tone respectful but not too respectful. He wanted her to understand that this was very much a business arrangement but that he and by proxy the others, were not small town folk to be taken advantage of. If she was shipping thousands of coins worth of goods, he was not about to accept a measly 500... but if it was merely standard goods and 500 gold coins was a fair price . . .
IS there anything you would prefer for negotiation besides just a standard diplomacy roll?
diplomacy just in case: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

I would be the one holding the arms.

We'd just give him the ones that didn't come out so good? :P

"Lad's curious, you gotta give him that. Personally I prefer the 10 percent" - Reknar offers his own smile and a shrug.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Of course a good question. This shipment is a myriad of things, silks, other textiles, spices, and tools of various types. All of that should fetch s good price, I suspect about 3,000 gold, give or take 100 or so...it is a safe bet. I also have some other goods, which are a bit more adventurous, there may or may not be a buyer, if it sells at what I hope, then there will be quite a bit more. Of course it might not sell.
she holds up her hand
I assure you, it is nothing illegal. I am also sure you understand that unless you agree I cannot let you know what else I am shipping. That would be bad business practice of course.

Galen Goodfellow |
Galen gets up abruptly from the room with the merchant woman and steps outside or into the hall or whatever. "ok, ok, what's so blasted important?" he cries. "Trying to do some business here, ok?"
His voice easily carries back inside where the others are negotiating.
MiniGM |
Delilah replies with a grin Will you want to take the percentage or the flat fee? After that I will send Don for our finest bottle
Galen Goodfellow |
Finally clueing into just what the heck is going on, Galen rushes back into the room. He points at the manservant. "You. Change thing! Stop right there! I know you're up to no good!"
He moves forward as he calls grabbing the man if allowed to .
Galen Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
MiniGM |
Galen charges in and roars at Don, who is standing meekly in the corner. Don recoils in fear.
Ill give everyone a chance to react. Anyone who wants to restrain Galen take an init roll and you have to beat
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 which is his init. If you just want to speak then I will say you can speak before he grabs at Don
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Nic bounces out of his chair when Galen dashes into the room. His head moves back and forth from Nic to the manservant. Nic doesn't do anything other than stand up. "W..w..wh...what's happenin' 'ere?"
Reknar |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Reknar manages to react quickly, but his allegiance goes out to the one on his team, so he simply draws his morningstar and waits - "Galen!" - he barks - "What the HELL is going on?!" - he adds, looking around to make sure no one will take hostile actions against the cavalier.
Galen Goodfellow |
"The voice!" he cries urgently. "The voice told me Don is a change-a-whatever, and even now, he's trying to poison us with those refreshments. He may have a bomb in the back or something!" He looks at the others, clearly distressed. "I've been trying to tell you that skull is talking to me, and it knows things! Check him out while I hold him!"
Nic "One-Ear" Rockborn |
Nic quickly scans the from Galen to the manservant then over to Delilah. "Okay, how 'bout that drink." The cleric is trying to ease the tension in the room. "Looks like we'll take 500 gold and the whiskey." He plays off of the Thorin's commitment to the payscale.
Galen Goodfellow |
Galen looks around at the others a bit taken aback. "Don't you understand? He's going to poison you? He's not who he says he is. We should take him!" His protestations get more plaintive as it appears his allies don't believe him or want to take any action. "But, the voice said...I'm sure of it...I...Well, I'm going to sit down now..." He picks up the manservant, stands him on his feet, dusts him off a bit, and goes to sit in one of the chairs again, shaking his head slowly.
Alexandra Beatrix |
Just realized we never established if we have spells yet (fully honest, I would not have thought to prepare detect poison, so it dosn't matter yet).
If Alex is offered a drink, she accepts it, raises it to her lips, but pauses before drinking, eyeing Don and Delilah.
sorry for the inactivity
Thorin O'Connel |
Crawling out from under the table he brushed himself off and did his best to act like he hadnt been under there. He raised his glass up like he was taking the toast... and then he pretended to drink from it.
bluffor slight of hand same bonus: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
