Well thank you vary much Leira. Go ahead and give it to Ulfgard. I will put up shield just before we go up. Ragnir are you leaving know or are you going to fight this dragon with us?

![]() |

Then wait for us to Engage The Dragon then perhaps your way will be clear. May your journey be safe and with all speed.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Aye and to you. As well.
Haskyll was going to prepare a communal protection from Energy, but I have to update to Level 9. It will take me a bit while here at work.

Anga Runedaughter |

Anga studies have paid off
Ah can get us back to safety now. Ah can now cast teleport, so we can take these poor ones to a safe place. Also, we can go to the dwarf city to sell our loot, if ye wish.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I be thinking that we deal with this dragon before we send anyone anywhere. Ragnir, could you guard these helpless folk until the drake lies dead ?

GMPC Ragnir |

"I have a better idea. Let Anga teleport the villagers to safety and then return. Then we go kill a dragon," Ragnir says in matter-of-fact fashion.
I guess the party can keep Ragnir for a little while longer. Anga can carry three medium-sized humanoids plus herself via teleport. She could then return. She would be without fifth level spells.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I be thinking that we not waste the opportunity, we can take them to safety after we deal with this flying worm.
Haskyll starts digging in the bag for things that could help.
Kaos, I think you could use this best
He tosses the Bracer of Armour to Kaos.
It does not work that well with armour though.
he then tosses the Ring of Feather fall to Ulfgard.
In case the spell is dispelled off you.
Haskyll passes out protection from Energy (Fire) for each and everyone that will be in the fight as we leave to fight the dragon.

GM Mazra |

Within the pantry, the party does not see the sun rising on the ninety-fifth day of the adventure.
Just as the party was about to leave, Ferin comes in. "Wait. There is a group coming in for breakfast. There's gruel in the pots, but just in case I need to work on more," the female Slag Giant gathers some grain, some near rotted vegetables, and heads toward the groghall.
What does the party do?

GM Mazra |

Guess not. The Hill Giants look at the dead Stone Giant as an opportunity. The Stone Giants then look at each other and say, "We can't allow the Hill Giants to take control." Then the few Frost Giants look at each other and say, "We can run this rabble." ETC.
The Cathedral of Minderhal map is updated with the party's location.
It also shows the giants that came in caring more about breakfast.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

So for a few days there will be fights, then the toughest SOB will rise to the top, and we will have to do this again.

Anga Runedaughter |

Anga precasts mage armour and shield on herself.
so, we dragon hunting?

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Looks and sounds like it.

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Hearing of the Giants coming in, Haskyll cautions everyone to wait.
The drake has been here for a while, I think it can wait a few minutes longer. Lets wait for this group to depart, then head out.
Will wait until we are actually heading out before casting the protection from fire.

GM Mazra |

The giants in the groghall leave just as another group comes in. The party continues to bide its time until Ferin gives the all clear. It is mid-morning before the Slag Giant waives the party on through the groghall and back to the stairs. Ragnir stays behind to guard the prospectors and the village leader.
The smell of death is heavy as the party passes through the levels of the tower. A river of drying blood is found cascading down the stairs up to the rotting corpse of the headless Urathash. The party continues on pass this and up the final flight of massive steps. They reach the top of the massive spire.
A cold mountain winds howl wickedly through the shattered stonework of this now brightly lit chamber as the morning sun bathes this vast area. Almost half of the tower’s floor and outer wall has crumbled away, exposing the inner chambers to vertiginous heights and the battering elements. Large chunks of stonework litter the floor.
The party does not see a dragon.
Let me know what buffs are up and your current AC. Central Spire map updated. This level is 600 feet above the ground. Since Ragnir is not using it, does someone have the broom? As part of the identifying process the magic word to activate the broom is "K'sham."
As usual, you will need to zoom in about three times to see clearly your tokens.

AC 25 Mage armor and shield are up. I believe I'm flying and I put brow gasher on my axe. HP 104
Thank you Haskyll and thank you Leira but I can take care of my axe you save that one for now.
Kaos tries to move stealthy to fly over the North wall.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Leira |

Because neither Kaos nor Ulfgard would benefit from brow gasher, she instead prepares blur and cast it on both warriors, along with extended fly for double duration.
"The place is empty, do you think the dragon is gone?" the young girl does not lose her time, she moves to a save place and hides, profiting of her spider climb if needed.
Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
Leira: spider climb
Kaos: blur, extended fly
Ulfgard: blur, extended fly

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haskyll AC - 21 / 25 vs Giant, Prot Fire 108 points / 90 min.
Kaos Prot Fire 108 points / 20 min
Liera Prot Fire 108 points / 20 min
Anga Prot Fire 108 points / 30 min.
Ulfgard Prot fire 108 points 20 min. (I used my domain protection spell on myself, and communal on everyone else.
I guess he has gone hunting.
Haskyll looks around and then straight up.
He then moves over to the edge.
That was 2 Standard actions for me. I applied first to everyone, then I cast on myself, and followed up.

Droja |

In the morning Droja will put up her False Life this time extending the duration of its effects.
And just as the party climbs the last flight of stairs to reach the top of the spire, the Half-Orc Oracle gives herself a Shield of Faith.
AC16/SoF18 HP 63(75)

GM Mazra |

Kaos, not use to this flying thing, bumps into the right wall. He is a bit disoriented from the collision.
Leira finds a good place to hide behind falling debris.
Brave Haskyll moves to the edge of the spire. What catches his eyes is not a dragon immediately, but instead on the opposite side of the left wall, a glistening horde of copper and silver, twinged in gold and platinum. A suit of armor, a bow, and other things lie around the mound of coins.
Kaos 20 (AC20MA24SH25 104/104)
Leira 19 (AC19 63/63)
Anga 16 (AC17 60/60)
Haskyll 12 (AC21 64/64)
Ulfgard 3 (AC20/H21/G25 103/103)
Droja 2 (AC16/SoF18 63(75)/63(75))
I will wait for Anga and Ulfgard to post their locations on the map before moving on. Also, to get their updated level 9 stats.

Something Different |

Suddenly, flying up from below the level of the spire, you see a Red Dragon. It is as if it has a sixth sense for anything that gets too close to its horde. But reality is that it heard you coming up the steps and flew off below floor level.
Round One
The red dragon flies up about ten feet above the level of the floor of the spire. Its about thirty feet away from Haskyll and Ulfgard and launches a wave of fire at the Cleric and Ranger.

Leira 7 (AC19 63/63)
Anga 6 (AC17 60/60)

There is a different map for this. Actually it is a modification of the Cathedral of Minderhal map with the spire level portion added as an overlay. The Minderhal Central Spire map did not provide a view of the wider area around the spire. This will allow us room to fly around, if necessary.
Everyone is up!

Kaos flies towards the Dragon. Quite literally in this sense. Then takes a swing with his axe.
Swing: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 304d8 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 4) + 16 + 1 = 30

CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
EFFECT
Range touch
Area one slashing melee weapon touched
Duration 1 round/level or until discharged
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless, object); Spell Resistance yes (harmless, object)
DESCRIPTION
You imbue a slashing melee weapon with the ability to deal a gruesome head wound. When the target weapon hits a living creature, in addition to the normal effects of that hit, the wielder can discharge this spell as a free action to open a gash on the target’s forehead that deals bleed damage equal to half your caster level. At the start of each of the target’s turns, when it takes bleed damage, it also takes a cumulative –1 penalty on all attack rolls. When that penalty reaches –3, the target also treats all targets as having concealment (20% miss chance). When the penalty reaches –5, the target is blinded. Stopping the bleed damage ends the effects this spell imposes on the bleeding creature. A target that is immune to bleed damage is also immune to all this spell’s effects.
Kaos Caster level 7 so 3 points of bleed

Leira |

When the dragon descends Leira trembles in front of the glorious foe. She seems scared for both dwarves but breathes relieved when they seem to survive the flames.
Too far for most of her spells Leira moves once and casts acid arrow at the dragon which should pile up damage and make him a bit more difficult to cast due to persistent damage.
Acid arrow (touch): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Acid damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

Anga Runedaughter |

Anga casts haste on the party
Go fast, hit hard! Show this wyrm a dwarven welcome!
+1 hit, AC, and reflex saves. Extra attack on full attack, extra move

Anga Runedaughter |

well, heck, how did everyone get scattered everywhere? I mean, haskkyll and Ulfgard are Waaay in front. Like three standard moves away. When did that happen? Oh well. Anga will cancel the spell and double move up

Kaos wasn't in the initial fire breath Ulfgard and Haskell wear. But if the is something different.
ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Seeing the dragon pop up, Haskyll backs up slightly and looks at the dragon, then trusts his protections to prevent damage.
Oi, get down here and fight like a proper Wyrm you overgrown lizard.
After all, was that the best you can do.
Haskyll pops a shield of Faith upon himself, while taunting the dragon and trying to draw its attention from the other casters.
AC +2 Deflection
Ulfgard and myself take 0 damage, due to the protection from fire.

GM Mazra |

Round One
As Haskyll and Ulfgard peer over the edge of the vast opening, the Red Dragon flies up from below and sprays the Cleric and Ranger with fire.
But Haskyll's Protection from Fire Energy prevented the two from taking damage.
(Remaining Fire Protection each:108 less 49 = 59)
Kaos flies toward the Red Dragon gripping his over-sized axe.
The Red Dragon bites toward the approaching human. And that is about it.
AoO bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 182d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 2) + 10 = 15
Kaos' bite was far worse. The Dragon Disciple hacks into Red Dragon flesh. However, the Red Dragon was able to resist the effect of Kaos' Brow Gasher spell.
Dragon's Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Ulfgard flies at the Red Dragon as well. But the Ranger misses his strike with Agrimmosh.
Droja will see the Red Dragon, "Oooh. That is worse than I imagined. But what a splendid creature." Droja is a bit taken back as this is the first time she has seen a dragon. She begins to Summon in some help.
Leira moves closer and hits the Red Dragon with an Acid Arrow.
Anga moves closer to the action.
Haskyll backs up and = puts up a faithful Shield.

Something Different |

Aura of Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Kaos and Ulfgard have their fire protection each reduced by 5 points.
Ulfgard @ 54; Kaos @ 103
The Red Dragon speaks in the Common Tongue, "Hmmm. Humans and Dwarves. Dwarves are tough and stringy, but Humans are one of my favorite delicacies." The Red Dragon flies up and diagonally five feet and devotes all of its attention toward Kaos.

Only the right claw and the Red Dragon's tail slap strikes into Kaos with enough force to pass through the Dragon Disciples protections.
Kaos takes 30 points of damage.

Droja |

Droja summons in an ancient flyer. It flies toward the Red Dragon and tries to bite the other ancient flyer. The Pteranodon was unable to bite through the dragon's protection.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 202d6 + 18 ⇒ (1, 2) + 18 = 21
Then he flicks his shield in place and waits for a riposte
