Round Five

Anga hits the third Hill Giant from the Group of Four with a Force Missile.

Leira fires a couple of arrows at the same Hill Giant. Her first sails wide of its target. The next one glances off the Hill Giant's hide armor.

I believe Leira is Hasted AC20 and gets another attack.

The Dragon Disciple drives Gorum's Thorn into the same third Hill Giant. The first splits the hide armor around the chest. The second cuts into its belly. Innards can be seen spewing out as this third Hill Giant goes unconscious falls off the table and begins to die.

Kaos then turns his attention toward the second Ogre. He strikes it with a wicked blow. The Dragon Disciples snaps at the Ogre but does not taste Ogre flesh.

Ragnir seeing the Stone Wall form in front of him. Decides to take a breather and provide himself a bit more healing.

The fourth Hill Giant from the Group of Four runs back toward the action to the left. It sees Haskyll and becomes uneasy about what it sees.

Ulfgard moves to engage this fourth Hill Giant.

The fourth Hill Giant takes an opportunity to swing at the approaching Dwarf Ranger. And though uneasy strikes the Dwarf solidly.

The fourth Hill Giant, and the last living one standing in this massive groghall, takes a step back and attacks the Dwarf Ranger. Its attacks were more out of defense to get in a position to flee this situation.

Round Six....mostly

Anga is absolutely heroic.

Leira takes a small step and fires a pair of arrows at the fourth Hill Giant. Both stick into the now panicked massive humanoid. It stumbles gripping one of the arrows with its free hand.

Kaos slices up the second Ogre, killing the big oaf. Then steps over the now dead second Ogre to get to the first. The first Ogre tries to hit the Dragon Disciple, but was unable to penetrate Kaos' stout defenses.

Kaos then sends the first to the same fate as the second. It falls over dead.

Ragnir move toward Kaos to close ranks.

Ulfgard steps up and kills the staggering fourth Hill Giant. It falls to the ground with a great thud.

The third and fourth Ogres advance to take on Droja's new fire elemental. They both notice Haskyll. The third one is unaffected by Haskyll's nail mail. The fourth one sees the Dwarf Cleric and an uneasiness overwhelms the Ogre.

The third Ogre disperses the Fire Elemental's flames, though not enough to send it back from whence it came. The fourth one's attack was affected by Haskyll's armor. It missed.

The Ogress reaches the back door and looks at Ferin, "Let me pass."

Ferin looks at the mostly naked Ogress, "No. You will need to fight to survive. Only the victors will walk out of this room."

The Fire Elemental attacks the third Ogre. But the Ogre was able to avoid the elemental's flames.

Droja continues to the drive her Zombie Hill Giant toward the last two Ogres. It attacks the third one, slamming into it with both fist. The third Ogre slumps to the ground and begins to die.

Kaos, not so fast

Hearing the doors slam open, and seeing Kaos run towards them, along with being worried about the party members at the back of the group, Haskyll steps back.
He then quickly looks over the oncoming Ogres and giants.

Torag, grant your servant a boon of the earth.

A flash of light travels from his holy symbol to the ground in front of all of the oncoming ogres, and then starts rising up into sharpened spikes on the ground.

Rocky ground, stone floors, and similar surfaces shape themselves into long, sharp points that blend into the background. Spike stones impede progress through an area and deal damage.
Any creature moving on foot into or through the spell’s area moves at half speed. In addition, each creature moving through the area takes 1d8 points of piercing damage for each 5 feet of movement through the spiked area. Any creature that takes damage from this spell must also succeed on a Reflex save to avoid injuries to its feet and legs. Round Six complete

Anga, still hiding behind a massive door in an antechamber between the Groghall and central spire, kills the fourth Ogre with one of her Magic Missiles.

Round Seven ...again mostly

Anga, in pure Sir Robin fashion, hides behind the massive doors in the antechamber.

Just kidding! Anga can also take a Round Seven action, you will likely need to move in order to see the new threat.

Leira, turns quickly to see a new group of attacking giants. The lead giant is an ugly monstrous troll. She fires a pair of arrows. Her first sticks deep into the tow-headed troll's chest. It wince in extreme pain. Her second arrow hits nearby. Both heads howl in agony.

Kaos moves toward the cleaver wielding Hill Giantess. He sticks Gorum's Thorn into its belly.

Ragnir runs over next to the over-sized human.

GM Fiat - I will determine if any of the Unconscious Giants stabilize.

Ulfgard heroically moves to the new threat.

The third Ogre continues to attack the nearest foe within reach. the Fire Elemental. It was unable to disperse the flaming creature.

Droja's flaming creature steps up and go after this final Ogre. It suffers the same result as the Ogre.

Droja's other creature, the dead behemoth of a Hill Giant, goes after the Ogre, to its surprise. It pounds the Ogre with both fist.

Haskyll asks for and receives some divine assistance in the form of a transformation of the stone floor into sharp spikes. Spikes spring up around the last Ogre and the approaching giants.

The spell does not say the spikes have to be contiguous. That is a very strong point. I moved the spikes more toward the new wave of giants and away from Droja's helpers. I have never seen anyone use this spell before. Let's see how effective this spell is.

First observation in the spell's limitation, which may be the reason for the lower level, it says any creature moving into or through take the damage. If a creature doesn't move, it doesn't take the damage. It must take a move action in order to take the damage. Any thoughts? This spell is more effective if you can see the enemies coming. It is less effective if the enemies are already on top of you. This is a limitation, but still a very effective spell. It makes a strong argument to have the Earth domain.

The Ogre does not move and is not affected by the spiky stone floor.

The Hill Giantess butcher notes the spikes coming up on the floor, she stands firm and attacks the displaced Dragon Disciple. And though her attacks were able to strike at Kaos, she was unable to cleave through the Dragon Disciple's magic armor.

Round Seven

In a haste, the Dwarf Ranger moves to attack the Hill Giantess Butcher.

The Hill Giantess Butcher takes an attack at the Dwarf Ranger. But Ulfgard ducks under the massive butcher's cleaver.

I just realized that this Hill Giantess gets an Aoo on the approaching Dwarf Ranger. I put the attack at the end of the post to not effect other rolls in this post. It missed anyway.

He sides steps into the massive hallway, an area as large as a cottage, and pounds upon the Giantess with Agrimmosh.

I will say that Ulfgard found a niche in the hallway to step into without damaging his feet.

Round Eight....again mostly

Anga continues to hide in the antechamber. ;)

Leira, with resolve to end this, fires arrows at the drunken male Hill Giant. Her first arrow finds its target. Her second arrow falls short diverted by the spikes in the floor.

Kaos slices again and again into the Hill Giantess Butcher. She howls with a near ear piercing scream as she falls with a splat upon the spiked floor. She dies upon impact.

As arrows flies over his head toward the hooded Hill Giant, Ragnir asks for and receives a Spiritual Weapon that appears behind this drunkard. The weapon looks like Torag's Hammer and strikes the massive Hill Giant. Ragnir smiles.

Added note for clarity: Agrimmosh as the RAW will never be a reach weapon. But Ulfgard is granted reach when he becomes Enlarged. As a reminder, Agrimmosh also gains 3 charges, which renew at the beginning of each day. Theses Giants represents all the Giants that were around the Cathedral and skipped to go straight after Urathash and the Young Red. The Drunken Male Hill Giant Butcher survived Anga's Magic Missile.

Haskyll standing there, looks at the party now in place, and removes the spikes to allow the melee to come into play effectively.


Retcon and Complete Round Nine

In lieu of Hill Giant 5's actions above.

Seeing Haskyll the fifth Hill Giant tries to get at the Dwarf Cleric, but Kaos and Ulfgard kills it before it can get to Haskyll.

Kaos and Ulfgard was in the way and would have attacked the fifth Hill Giant trying to get to Haskyll. Since this is what they did, there is no real difference in the outcome.

Haskyll removes the Spiked Stones from the stone floor.

Round Ten

Kaos chases after the last two Hill Giants.

The Haste spell ends before Kaos can pursue. I moved him as though he was running at full speed for the full round. The party can see where the two giants are located. The Giants have not yet taken their Round 10 actions.

Ragnir moves into the massive hallway behind the burning two-headed Troll. He then moves Torag's Spiritual Warhammer toward the fleeing Giants.

Droja follows Kaos. The lumbering Hill Giant Zombie follows over the dead bodies of once rival clans-giants.

What is Anga, Leira, and Ulfgard doing in Round Ten? Ulfgard should hesitate his actions to receive Haskyll's healing.
