Yeah, and it’s a pretty wide spread of native-speaking countries too. That’s why one of my name suggestions was International Club, because we’re a very international team.

like, going through the whole set of exchanges would be tedious without the Roll20 thing Bron and Wing do. do we want to only do important exchanges, reduce it entirely to rolls? something I haven't thought of?

Like, you don't have to figure out exactly how everything shakes out if you've got some fun moments along the way, and that should be pretty quick to suss out what the important bullet points are.

I'm pretty flexible on stuff. I do have a roll20 account from other games if you want to do that sort of thing. I'm fine with summarizing/high-level bullet-pointing things you don't think would be interesting to play out. Either I can just post that with the assumption Alexandra's going to say anything she can to manipulate people or I can PM you what the NPCs are going to be looking for/want and you can post a summary. If there's nothing else in particular you want to play out IC, I can give you an opening message from Jack that should give Alexandra an opening to asking him about his ex. But I'm also open to playing out earlier parts of her conversation with peoples if that's something you want to do.
I never made The UI make sense... I like the Idea of assuming Alexandra will be manipulative, and giving you more autonomy with these NPC's than the inverse. But I do kinda want to do out the one with Jack. Sound good?
Hmm, are you watching the second campaign that I think they started? None of those characters sound familiar (though now I am super curious about why you wouldn't want to admit to a ship). As much as I love that show and their amazing voice acting, it's such a huge time commitment especially since I also have someone else is trying to add shows to my watchlist.
And yeah, works for me. I'll get out a summary of the lead-up. But did you want to do all of the conversation with Jack or just the part where you start asking about his ex? I was assuming Alexandra would do some rapport building/small talk/get to know you stuff before Jack gave a clear opening for her to ask about his ex.
Oh yeah, SO not doing the archive dive for the Vox Machina campaign. and I'm not admitting a few because the lot of them paint a picture of me as a goddamned sappy romantic.
I think we can probably Yadda yadda the rapport building, un less there are details you want to put in.
So, I feel a little torn about the ID card message. On the one hand, if it were capable of receiving/displaying messages, that definitely seems like the sort of thing Kaoru should have noticed when she specifically analyzed the card on Saturday. On the other hand, I also kind of think it'd be great if she was the only person not to show up to practice on Sunday because she didn't get the memo. Though I can still do that since she never actually took the card out of the case that blocks all signals from it from her Saturday night caper. It's just that then that seems like a weirder move if she knows it can be used to receive messages and isn't actively trying to hide something. Especially given what she feels would be the consequences of such obvious defiance.
That was kind of a late addition since I realized I've never mentioned the earbuds have any sort of voice mail feature.
But I did have something like the Avengers card from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes when I had them passed out.
(They're officially the "badges of authority" resource from my mentor.)
I have no issue with retconning it that K noticed the messaging feature, since I agree she would have noticed it.
Ok, I guess Kaoru will just have to know about the practice then. But also, I'm definitely more into DC than Marvel, so I have no idea what the capabilities of an Avengers card are. Should I know anything other than the messaging (Kaoru is specifically concerned about her privacy any anything that could be used to track/bug her without her knowledge)? And is it meant to be 2-way or 1-way communication? I'm also assuming it would make a noise or some other type of alert?
Also, earbuds wouldn't have let you get the message out anyway since Kaoru definitely doesn't have one, and I'm not sure Cassie got one either.
I feel that Shayera *definitely* would have handed the earbuds out at that first meeting. Sorry it didn't come up or get mentioned. I must have just assumed it. She's been handing them out like candy.
(And Avengers: EMH is a fantastic cartoon. Two seasons of superhero goodness.)

@Alexandra: Just want to point out, you didn't see the picture of Kaoru on Chloe's facebook. Her fb profile is friends-locked and you haven't gotten her to friend you yet. I'm also assuming you haven't asked Jack to friend you either (though getting him to do that at this point wouldn't be that hard). You saw the picture on some other social media site and then used your PI skills/facial recognition software to connect that account to Chloe's facebook account. Not sure if you'd like to retcon what you said to her?

There are a lot of factors at play, so I wouldn't say it's a given that she's passed the unforgivable line. Though certainly, Kaoru's going to be upset if she finds out about this.

Sorry for the lack of posting - been very busy at work and will be for today at least as well... I don't think much (anything?) has involved Cassie though, so should be OK. Was planning a longish exposition post about what Cassie's been doing but it'll probably have to be a short one instead when i get a moment.....

OOC what I find amusing is that a lot of this was pretty unnecessary as Alexandra probably could have coaxed details out of Kaoru directly. Though obviously, Kaoru has her own perspective on what happened, so the info she would have gathered would have differed slightly. It is rather interesting to see that Alexandra instead opted to do this to get more info.
Also, Kaoru's probably going to try to fix one of the practice drones and use it to 'attack' people for 'practice'. But there's some pre-work I want to cover before she goes to practice, so I'm probably not going to post that until much later tonight/after Puzzled Pint. But also not sure how successful she'd actually be in repairing the drones.

My suggestion for the training: No rolls, just narrative. Have your character have some fun beating up (or controlling) some robots for a while. Considering that one of the core premises of the game is that your character *wants* to be here, this could maybe be one of the first moments some of the reluctant characters feel a little bit of camaraderie with the others.
For her part, Wingblade doesn't plan on showing off that much, and is going to either be circling above the fray offering suggestions and warnings ("Watch your six!") or deliberately taking a few hits to let the less-confident teammates feel some triumph.
Sounds like a good plan for the training :-)
Oh yeah. A lot of that scene was part of showcasing that Alexandra is pretty... damaged. She doesn't really trust people, she knows she would lie about past events (She'd never admit how much it hurt to get dumped by someone. or that it was him dumping her, unlike the rumour she carefully spread, and maintained.) and figures Kay would too, whereas by getting stuff from other people in Kaoru's life, she would know more.
And outing Kaoru to Chloe probably did cross the line...
Oh yeah, I totally get that and definitely want to give Alexandra hugs. It's a pretty fun contrast between how the two of them view wanting to get to know each other though.
And I would argue that what Chloe said was probably a lot worse, though her evidence for Kaoru liking girls isn't really as compelling as Alexandra's evidence for Kaoru being trans. Even though it's just her suspicions and not a fact, Chloe should probably know better, but she was pretty shocked by what fake Alexandra said. And it was a pretty high C&S roll, so whatever.
It'll be interesting to see how things play out though.
By the way, haven't forgotten or ignored Shaun's texts about Bronwyn's supposed magery, but she can't get access to her texts yet, so...

Honestly I’m just really looking forward to Alexandra learning about/meeting/seeing Duncan and her reaction to that. Let’s just say she’s gonna pick up on some details Kaoru didn’t. ;)
To be fair, Alexandra also cares more about noticing things about people than Kaoru does. I mean, Kaoru hasn't even bothered to try to figure out what the connection between Duncan and Shaun is. Though part of that may be that she just doesn't want to spend time thinking about Shaun.
Also, was Alexandra done with Chloe?
So question: I was initially supposed to give influence to 3 teammates but have only done it for 2. If I grow away from the team, can I remove the influence of the person I never actually gave influence to?
OK,.. end of session thing is a bit tricky. I think that Cassie has grown closer to the team, but its more towards the team rather than towards an individual, so...
Cassie will Grow into your own image of herself.. she's beginning to see herself as more similar to her mother than she'd like to admit - more manipulative but also braver and more self-confident in her abilities, although she also doesn't (currently) think she's a match for the likes of Wingblade, Mercy and Bran. Thus, going to shift Superior up and Danger down.
I've also yet to give someone influence because "XXXXXXX is the only one who understands what I’m going through; I told them which part of me I wished was more like my parent"... Waiting for an opportunity to have the conversation with someone soon.
So Kilt - where were you thinking the next issue picks up?

Time jumping seems fine for me too. Alexis needs Bronwyn to work on her armor and that'll take time. Other things might happen later on after a few days too...

While I'm ambivalent about taking much (if any) time at the Browne's, I am interested in seeing a scene or three about the first day at school with Bron and Shayera being out as a couple.
But otherwise, I'm ready for the time jump.
Just going to say, Kaoru's definitely going to have a reaction to finding out Shayera and Bron are a couple. Though much of it might just end up being more internal monologuing (since I clearly don't do enough of that :-P) but I'm not sure.
Unless anyone else has some scene they'd like to do with Alexis for the next couple of days, I'm good.
A lot of stuff can be handwaved and retconned to happen during any time skips after all. How about we each write up a list of small events we'd like to happen to our characters? Something like:
1. Alexis gets tested by the school's counselor.
2. Alexis tries to date outside of the team.
3. Alexis is recognized by a student who saw her when she was homeless.
4. Alexis accidentally cuts off her finger in home economics class and needs help disguising it until she can heal.
Then if anyone who thinks they'd like to take a crack at running one of those brief scenes can do so to help fill in time. They don't have to be long, they can easily be done in one or two posts, and it'll help make sure we're all getting comfortable with taking co-GM roles.

Yes I absolutely want a relationship reaction scene. I completely forgot that Kaoru didn't know about it, that's gonna be good. Alexis, I was planning to do some prompts along the lines of what Bronwyn did right before the museum, but I'm interested in what could come of those micro-scenes you're describing. Anybody got objections to Alexis' idea?

Alright, I think what Wingblade just posted is a good structure to follow. Everybody go ahead and wrap up Sunday, then make some mini-scenes for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, one apiece. If you feel inspired to make more go ahead and do so, but we are going to try and move somewhat quickly to Thursday, which is when our mission’ll be delivered.
I got work here in a bit, so I’ll get my mini-scenes going as soon as I’m done. Before that, feel free to “invite” Shaun to any scenes you’d like him in.
What are the plans for ShaBron on Monday? I'm trying to get Kaoru to find out about them then, so that all my scenes for the week can build on that. I could have her just witness a quick peck on the lips between the two? But I'm open to other things if y'all want to roll some other way.

Probably something along the lines of holding hands and a quick kiss goodbye when they go to different classes.
If you really wanted to catch them in flagrante delicto (so to speak), there could probably be a scene behind the equipment shed or under the bleachers or something.
I was thinking there'd be a definite, "we're out, and we're together"-style kiss at the outset in the morning. Then yes, we'd go back to hand-holding and sneaking quick kisses here and there.
If there's to be a "sneaking off to make out" moment, that'll be on Bronwyn to arrange. :)
While I definitely think Bronwyn should drag Shayera off somewhere, I'm not sure Kaoru needs to walk in on that unless you want her to never be able to look at either of your characters again. I can just have her see either this morning kiss or a quick goodbye kiss.
@Bronwyn: When she gets to actually fixing Alexis' armor, she'll find that's it relatively easy to replace the quartz. Once that's done, the suit will repair itself. She'll find it has a morphic circuit that allows for someone who knows how to do it to customize the armor's form and function. It's currently set for minimizing impact protection, maximizing piercing and slashing protection.
