I'm also having a dilemma choosing a Slayer Talent. I'm only just now reaching the point where I get to choose. The earlier ones except the one I used for finding and disabling traps were taken by my archetype.
I'm looking at the Ranger style feats for Menacing (Intimidate build) and Underhanded (Dirty Trick). Anyone have experience with builds for either of those things? Any opinions on the better route?

Andrezi Mardu |

@Nebbin - you taking the feats needed to get Greater Beast Totem? Because I love being able to pounce as a Barbarian.
@Emileva - I don't have experience with either. But I tend to like Rogue Talents too

GM Crimson |

Sorry for the latest delay: I was sort of waiting to hear from Miakoda and possibly getting a response about their level-ups. I just realized they haven't posted in over 2 months, so I fired off a PM this morning to make sure they're still with us.
I've been busier in real life and my posting on these forums has suffered. I think I should have more time going forward, though I may still be a bit slower than usual.
***********************************
If anyone would like to make some Diplomacy (Gather Information) checks in the Gameplay thread to try to track down a lead on Rolth, please do so. If you'd like to recruit Kayleigh for this task (she's pretty good at this sort of thing...+13 modifier), feel free to make rolls for her as well.

Nebbin Elsbet |

Nebbin and Kayleigh head out together to see if they can get any clues of their seemingly lifelong nemesis. Strangely, they're both focused by the time together and manage to make it almost a game (albeit a deadly serious one), where they spend time together talking and learn a great deal.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Kayleigh Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Emileva Mavrakis |

Ugh, I got caught up in trying to figure out which Slayer Talent to go with and then sorta forgot to make a final decision. I'll do the level up very soon.

Nebbin Elsbet |

Oh yeah, I still need to pick my rage power! I'm torn. I think elemental stance (electricity) is probably the best choice, but it doesn't quite go with Nebbin. I guess I could attribute it to the Harrow effects...

Miakoda Promise-of-Spring |

Hello all, very sorry about the vanishing act there for a bit but I am back. Working to get Miakoda leveled up to Evangelist8, which gets her the Starlit Caster divine boon, some extra spells, a bump to all saves, and a small pile of skill points to spend.

Miakoda Promise-of-Spring |

She's technically Evangelist5 (archetype) / Evangelist3 (Prestige class) but that's confusing so I've shorthanded it in the reference bar. It's written out properly on her full stat profile

Emileva Mavrakis |

Actually Nebbin only thinks Emi is better at that sort of thing, which is so very Nebbin. :)
Apologies for the long silence. I switched over to a new team that works out of local schools rather than ODHS offices. With the new school year upon us now, I was totally caught by surprise at how much goes into getting ready for it, like a sneaker wave it was.
While things are starting up and routines are being set I'm going to be incredibly busy. I"m guessing things will start settling down by late September. Until then I'll still be around and posting but I may be slow.

Emileva Mavrakis |

Slayer (Vanguard) Level 8:
+1 Strength
+1 BAB
+1 FORT, REF
+1 Initiative (Ever Ready)
+10 HP
+1 Trap Finding / Trap Spotting
Slayer Talent: Rogue Talent (Underhanded Trick)
Improved Dirty Trick Feat & +2 Dirty Trick Combat Maneuver.
Skill Points: 9
+1 Acrobatics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Intimidate, K Local, Perception, Ride, Stealth.

GM Crimson |

Sorry for going silent. I've been sort of flaky but also kinda busy in real life and didn't realize it'd been 3 weeks since my last post. Things are saner for the next couple of weeks at least, so I'll try to post more frequently going forward.

Fírinne |

Apologies everyone, I've been having a really difficult month with my health. I'm trying to get back into things, hoping to get some proper posts up later today after work.

GM Crimson |

Hi folks. Sorry for the silence (again). Realizing that I've got less time and interest in the forum games I'm in, I ended the other game I'm GMing. The plan is to rededicate myself to this campaign, but before I dive in, it's probably wise to check in with the players first to see if everyone's still on-board with continuing.
So let me know your thoughts. Meanwhile, I'll be working on the next post--your audience before the Emperor of Old Korvosa, Pilts Swastel.

Nebbin Elsbet |

I'm willing to continue, assuming we can get a better pace going. (FWIW, this is my last 1e game as a player, but I enjoy the group and characters enough to continue. I'm definitely less interested in the system at this point, though.)

Andrezi Mardu |

I'm very sympathetic the the GM challenge. I'm happy to continue playing this, and am having fun. But I don't want to do so at the expense of the GM either.

Fírinne |

I'm still on board, but only if you're still having fun.

GM Crimson |

I sent Miokoda's player a PM and heard back immediately, so it looks like we're all set to resume things at full strength!

Nebbin Elsbet |

I may not be able to post this week; I'm training a new employee the next couple of days (I may have time in the evenings, but not sure what my days will look like). Then I'll probably have time Wednesday, but after that it's Thanksgiving and my folks are visiting.
Oh, and then I may have jury duty next Monday, so who knows what will happen with that. :D

I'm very sorry to hold things up. I expect some other players were waiting for me to post since Emi is the character most linked to Vencarlo.
The last couple of months for me have been both very busy and low posting energy for me. I'm always lagging behind it seems. I'll do better.

Fírinne |

Sorry folks, I also had COVID and it just messed me up.

GM Crimson |

Sorry folks, I also had COVID and it just messed me up.
I hope you're feeling better soon. I've been unusually busy AND a bit scatterbrained, and I think the players of Nebbin and Emi have been busy as well. And now the holidays are pretty much upon us. (Happy Hanukkah, Nebbin!)
Hopefully we can maintain some momentum for the next few weeks and then get back to normal in the new year.

Emileva Mavrakis |

I work in social services and this is our busiest time of the year due to the holidays and winter coming on. I've been slammed at work for the past few weeks and I doubt things will let up for another couple of weeks.
I hope you're feeling better Fírinne!

Miakoda Promise-of-Spring |

I'm in finance and tis' the season for RMDs and people trying to do end of year miscellaneous stuff for their taxes. still following along

Andrezi Mardu |

I'm sympathetic regarding COVID, as I just recovered myself from it. And yeah, I'm still around too. About to hit a quiet bit for work.

GM Crimson |

Happy Holidays, all!
I plan to post later today; maybe we'll get a post from Miakoda before I do.
Do folks want a holiday break between now and New Year's Day?

Andrezi Mardu |

Agreed with Nebbin. I'll be on holiday break, so although my schedule will be weird I'll have room to post

Hey everyone,
Still alive! I've been struggling with a major depressive phase coupled with some actually bad stuff going on IRL. I struggle with whether to come back or just drop out (semi-)gracefully, and I would like to continue if it's all right with y'all. I know it's been frustrating with how much trouble I've had lately.

Andrezi Mardu |

Glad you're still hanging out with us!
And, I know we only know each other through this game but if there's anything you need, I'm here to help.

Good to hear you're still with us, Firinne. I've been quiet for too long myself because of a change in my daily schedule with some minor depression mixed in. Glad to have you back.
My plan is to post later today and get back to regular posting thereafter.

GM Crimson |

My plan is to post later today and get back to regular posting thereafter.
...or maybe tonight.

Emileva Mavrakis |

I've been away at least as much as you Firinne. I'm glad to see you're still around. A heavy load at work plus the holidays, and most recently losing power for a couple of days due to a winter storm here. I think I'm more or less in the clear now though.

GM Crimson |

Ugh! Apologies (again). I'm trying to get some game stuff done this morning to get myself back on track and hope to post soon--probably tomorrow.
Thanks for hanging in there.

Quick Update: I sent Firinne a PM almost a week ago; still no reply.
Let's see if Firinne and/or Miakoda have posted by Tuesday. If not, we might have to make a decision on how (or if) we continue the game.

GM Crimson |

Sorry again for the silence; I hope to post something relatively soon (hopefully no later than this weekend). I haven't heard back from Firinne, so we may have lost one of our PCs for good. I'm sort of planning on having her drop into the story's background, likely guarding Kayleigh while Rolth's still at large. That way, a quick return to the party will be a lot easier if we hear something in the near future.
Start thinking about whether we should try a 4-player party for a while or if we should recruit someone new; your input counts.

Emileva Mavrakis |

From another game we're both in, I know Firinne has had some ongoing health stuff as well as school. The combination is keeping them away while trying to stay afloat.
IMHO we should stick to a party of 4 and give it more time.

Miakoda Promise-of-Spring |

I'm also in some games with Firinne and they've been having a tough time the last few months.

Update: I DID hear back from Firinne's player, who's ready to rejoin the campaign.
I have a presentation for work tomorrow that I need to finish up. If that goes well, I may be able to restart the game tonight. But since things rarely go well for me, posting tomorrow afternoon or evening seems more likely.
Thanks for hanging in.
