You detect no magic on the door. It looks like it has taken quite a pounding already.

Naomi Chadwick |
Ok this is cute but I've gotta ask
Watching the boys move around from one closed door to the other, Naomi finally places her hands on her hips and asks
So are we here to catch this Rayne D’Anzeray or to tear up this tomb? It's obvious he and his three thugs did not go in there. If we start banging on doors we will alert them and any undead we are here.
looking from person to person, settling her gaze on Ulfgard the ranger
Don't any of you know how to track so we can just follow them?

Turvijagal |

"Just let me try one more time to make sense of the rest of the writing on this door before any of you smash it in."
Linguistics: 1d1 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
"Nope! Don't understand it. Bash away!"
Turvijagal steps back to let the party "muscle" open the door, or at least break away enough wall to see a proper lock.

brvheart |

@Naomi Whut? You want a party to make sense? No, we have to clear room by room!

brvheart |

Hagrym will move up and start bashing at the door. He takes his two handed weapon and swings with all his might.
Damage 1d10+4
Stone Doors: Hardess 8, you did 2 points! 58 to go!

"Lucky" Cyrus |

As the sound of metal striking stone echoes through the the stillness, a tight knot begins to form in Cyrus' stomach. It was one thing to be clueless, but another to destroy any chance of their approaching this man without him having knowledge of them.
~If there is anyone down here besides the dead that is.~
As Naomi tried to get the others to focus on tracking down the raider of this burial place, Cyrus was more interested in the writing on the doors.
"Parchment. Does anyone spare parchment? The Friar's son was able to decipher the writing with ease, so while we may bash our heads against the stones in vain, perhaps the child is the key. In my past, I used charcoal and parchment to make tracings of keys, so making an etch of carvings should be far easier."
No sooner had he spoken than the tomb was once more plunged into darkness with the ending of Naomi's light spell.
~Light. Light. What was that word...solas!~
Clutching at the knotted rope in his pocket, Cyrus closed his eyes and pictured the top of his staff glowing.
"Lig a bheith ann solas"

Hagrym |

"The scuff marks made me think the door had been broken into. Does anyone else think that the door was bypassed by the thieves?". He stopped his beating on the door, his cheeks slightly flushed by being admonished.
Glad you noticed that, Naomi. Hagrym isn't terribly intelligent and he doesn't like to wait. He's prone to acting out, just to think he's doing something, lol.

brvheart |

With all the banging, something appears out of the darkness to the south. Dried black skin hangs from his frame like tight leather armor. His teeth form a sharp, bony ridge. Two large bones resembling horns adorn its skull.
roll initiative

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Raising his staff even higher, in order to spread the light as best he can, Cyrus had no intention of closing in on this creature.
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
~Far better to let the more trained dwarves lead the assault.~

Jarvis Ward |

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

brvheart |

Initiative Round One
Cyrus
Turvijagal
Naomi

Ulfgard
Jarvis
Galerio
Hagrym
Turvijgal up

Naomi Chadwick |
gods, the boys are jamming up the middle, I'd probably hurt one of them pushing my way to the front, I'd never hear the end of it
Naomi, not willing to injure her new traveling companions nor waste an arrow, sheaths her sword, and conjuring her mandolin out of the ether begins to play a rousing Hafling combat jig she learned from a bard named "Master Took" he called it "one less O' them" but she's also heard it called "hiding under the table" either way she hoped it would inspire the boys.
Inspire courage +1

brvheart |

The ghoul casts a spell upon himself and speaks in
Ulfgard, Jarvis, Galerio and Hagrym are up

Galerio |

Galerio spies the walking dead and is shocked when this one speaks something intelligent.
A much more dangerous foe than these mindless corpses we just dispatched.
He will attempt to identify the spell cast and alert the others if successful at the same time he flings his own spell.
Spellcraft Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Galerio forms a protoplasmic ball of black energy, its edges crackling with purple motes that writhe like worms. He cocks his arm back and throws over the head of the thankfully short Hagrym.
[dice=Ranged Touch Attack "Protoplasmic Ball of Acidic Goo"]1d20+3+1[/dice]

brvheart |

That hits. Going out to dinner and a movie with the wife. BBL all.

Hagrym |

DM, I can't see where the ghoul is on the map. Hagrym will double move forward to engage the creature, assuming it is further than 20' away. If it is closer than that, Hagrym will Attack.

Galerio |

DM, I can't see where the ghoul is on the map. Hagrym will double move forward to engage the creature, assuming it is further than 20' away. If it is closer than that, Hagrym will Attack.
If the protoplasm shot works to max effect, that ghoul will be stuck and unable to move. We can then make it a pin cushion from a nice, safe distance.

brvheart |

DM, I can't see where the ghoul is on the map. Hagrym will double move forward to engage the creature, assuming it is further than 20' away. If it is closer than that, Hagrym will Attack.
A 20' move puts you next to the ghoul. Anyone else having an issue seeing the ghoul?

Jarvis Ward |

Jarvis moves up next to Hagrym with confidence and a clean strike.
Attack(2H): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 24
Attack(confirm?): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 23
Damage: 2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 6) + 12 = 21

Jarvis Ward |

I seem him fine

Hagrym |

Hagrym will move forward and take his Attack. "Back to the grave with you, undead menace!"
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

brvheart |

Your blow clangs off some sort of force shield and does no damage Hagrym. Lucky and Turvijagal are up again. Jarvis, you forgot the +1 to damage from the bard for inspire courage for another 2 points. It is not enough for Hagrym to hit however

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Seeing the others striking the creature, Cyrus strained his eyes and ears to make sure more creatures were not sneaking up on them from the depths of the blackness.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Ghouls and Half-Elves (10/26/09)
Q: Are half-elfs immune to a ghouls paralysis effect now that they are treated as elf blood?
A: (James Jacobs 10/26/09) Traditionally, only elves have been immune to ghoul paralysis. But it does look like the current wording for "elf blood" would extend to half-elves. And since "elf blood" IS more of a disadvantage than an advantage since very few "elf only" items or effects exist. So yeah, upon further reflection, I'd say that half-elves are fine and immune to ghoul paralysis.
Looks rather official to me if it comes from Jacobs!

brvheart |

Ok, waiting on Naomi and Shandar if he ever shows up. If not we will go with 7.

brvheart |

Decisions, decisions. I think he would hate the paladin more even though the magus crit him.
The ghoul strikes with his club: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 at the paladin.
damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Then attempts to bite him. bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 and Fort save DC 13 if the bite hits vs paralysis.

brvheart |

And the ghoul misses twice in a sticky situation. Back to Ulfgard.
