At least he hit! With Naomi hit like that it was needed. The dice roller has a mind of its own.

Jarvis Ward |

Moving the dancing lights to the opposite side of the door frame, Jarvis with 2 hands holding his scimitar tightly peers around the corner into the room to see what kind of foul undeath surely lays is within, a steady breath leaves his mouth as he readies himself, beads of sweat falling down his face.
Hmm... maybe I should have told someone I was coming over here...
Turning back to look at the previous door where his companions are, looking to see if anyone is there looking my way.

brvheart |

Desiccated rats flop about the floor of this room, while the ceiling ripples with thousands of bats.

Naomi Chadwick |
the little bastard hit my arm, who does he think he is
Naomi jerks around and glares at Ulfgard
you touch me again shorty and I’ll demonstrate in her best imitation of Ulfgard “kickin ma enemies betwixt tha legs” you want to get hit that’s up to you, don’t pretend to tell me how to fight.
Walking away, then pausing for a moment and returning
and its not again with the imitation childrrrrens arrrrmor I had it specifically crafted for me, and burning daylight is a figure of speech, learn the language, shorty.
Starting to cool down, her arm oozing green puss and still sore, no thanks to the dwarf hiitting it; her shoulder doing better after Luckys spell, turning to the gambler
Thanks Lucky, no offense, I was just mad. Your all right, at least you have enough sense not to go running in
Waving her arm in the air, alluding to her own mistake. Naomi turns and looks around for Jarvis to thank him.
maybe I should lighten up on him, he did kill the ghoul that clawed me. Nah, he’s tough he can take it.
Has anyone seen that idiot Jarvis

Turvijagal |

"I think Jarvis wandered over yonder. I'll go see what he's up to, since you're all busy."
Turvijagal tucks the sword to his belt, since nobody else seemed interested in it and follows Jarvis to see what's going on. He readies his crossbow and approaches Jarvis.
"Find anything?"
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
How big are these bats? Normal tiny ones or great big huge ones?

Jarvis Ward |

Ninja'd editing...
Whispering to Turvijagal,
"There is a room full of bats, some alive and some dead I think... Perhaps you should go back and get the others and bring them up here, we can use Naomi as bait as she will surely charge in without hesitance...
After that Jarvis grins at his companion.

brvheart |

really tiny ones and about a thousand of them and oh btw, they are all dead, err undead that is now that you look closer! That dancing lights has them swarming.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Feeling foolish for his outburst, Cyrus pulls his cloak tight around him and leaned heavily on the staff once more. Wanting to be done with this place of darkness, even though he knew rationally they had been only been underground for less than an hour, Cyrus called once more upon Zors casting the light spell once more to guide his steps.
~If nothing else, I know that I can have a long career of keeping the front hall alight. Wait, what are those two doing up there?~
Seeing Jarvis and Turvijagal near another door, Cyrus approached them, once more leading his way with the glowing end of his staff.

Jarvis Ward |

Looking over at Cyrus,
"Its a huge swarm of undead bats, nasty little buggers. Jarvis says whispering to the clergyman, "How do you propose to deal with these things? Isn't undead an expertise of clerics?" Saying with a shrug.

Naomi Chadwick |
Blasted Dwarf, I’d use prestidigitation on his beard, except he’s probably right, I shouldn’t have charged in, why did it piss me off so bad to do what Jarvis said?
Walking out into the hallway Naomi whispers under her breath
you’d have to catch me first tubby
Willing to let bygones be bygones Naomi hears Jarvis talking about the undead bats and interjects with a giggle.
if were making a plan I could cast Chord of Shards a couple of times to soften them up. I would just need the self-proclaimed meat shield to stay out of the way so My Magic doesn’t hurt Him, or not

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Looking over at Cyrus,
"Its a huge swarm of undead bats, nasty little buggers. Jarvis says whispering to the clergyman, "How do you propose to deal with these things? Isn't undead an expertise of clerics?" Saying with a shrug.
"I am sure it is, too bad there is just me."
Taking a deep breath, Cyrus closed his eyes and reached not down into the rapidly dwindling stream of energy he could call upon Zors for assistance, but into sudden trove of knowledge that Zors had placed inside his head.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
~And those who worshiped Arden could channel through themselves the radiance of the Sun granting them the power to banish those whose bodies were corrupted by darkness. So it has been and so shall it ever be.~
While Zors was not associated with choosing either side of the moral compass, believing that your life was to make of it as you wished, he allowed his priests to draw upon both the light and the darkness.
Looking at the glowing staff in his hand, Cyrus leaned it against the wall, knowing the extra light would just agitate the undead creatures more, Cyrus glanced at the two men and smiled tiredly.
"So I guess it is time to see if I am good enough."
Pulling out the knotted cord, his connection between the land of the living and the divine, Cyrus called the energy of life, of second chances and of cheating death against all odds to himself and sent it blasting towards the undead swarm with all the frustration and anger in his soul.
Positive burst: 1d6 ⇒ 3

brvheart |

will save bats: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
will save rats: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
With that channel Cyrus notices, the rats on the floor are a swarm also!
The door is open Hagrym, but you could shut it! Roll initiative. There is now a cloud of dust in the room after about a hundred bats explode into dust. One flies out towards Jarvis and it crumples as he swats it.

Galerio |

At the news of dealing with a swarm of undead bats and who knows what else, Galerio stows his crossbow and gets his torch lit and then moves towards the rest of the group, ready to crisp any critters coming his way.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Realizing the full scope of the enemy before them, Cyrus looked back to the others.
"Help me close this!"
Tugging hard on the heavy stone door, Cyrus tried to close it before more of the creatures rushed out.

this song is called 'bat out of hell' in Bard's Gate it is a rousing battle song sung by the'Free Defender's.' I've been told in the south the lyrics are different and its a lullaby called 'Meatloaf with grandma'
Naomi, watching the door as the swarm swells out, starts to hum and then sing a song to encourage the boys and to use her 'chord of shards spell'
humming...Just like a bat out of hell...more humming...Just like a bat out of hell...
Naomi cast cord of shards, Does it do extra damage to swarms because it is an evocation spell?
damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

Only if you are an evoker like Shandar. He gets additional damage from evocation spells and will cast burning hands if he gets a chance. Just talked to him via voice.

Still waiting for three to roll including Ulfgard, Galerio and Jarvis.

Initiative Round One
Galerio
Ulfgard
swarms
Naomi
Cyrus
Hagrym
Jarvis
Shandar
Turvijagal
Galerio and Ulfgard are up.

brvheart |

A single move would put you just outside the door Ulfgard. The swarms are still inside the room. I presume you want to move up?

Jarvis Ward |

Back and awaiting initiative, thanks for running me brv.

brvheart |

Ulfgard certainly has thee strength to close the door on his initiative.

brvheart |

The party has had a rather stressful day with quite a few encounters so taking a break and going back to the inn for a night's rest would not be uncalled for. However, this is Lessef with less than 25 people so the GP limit is 10 GP and the total assets are 45! So finding alchemist fire would mean a several day trip to the thriving community of Anvil Plunge. It has a whole 91 people and a 100 GP limit. Anvil Plunge is about 75 miles to the north east.

Hagrym |

I agree that leaving this critters until Shandar can recharge all his Burning Hands at the least is the way to go. I think we are all in pretty good shape health wise, so maybe like Turv suggests we can try yet another room

"Lucky" Cyrus |

If/when we rest, I can create 2 vials of Holy Water plus with some RPing, perhaps we can convince Almery to create a similar amount for us as well. Give those with the best Ranged ability those vials and if we can scrape up any lamp oil then use it.
In this instance, I think the holy water solution might be the quickest and most cost effective. Although, it will tap me out of anything besides my positive energy bursts and 0 orisons for the rest of the day.

brvheart |

You can cast bless water to create holy water, but it has a material component: 5 pounds of powdered silver worth 25 gp.

brvheart |

Almery has a CLW potion for you for resolving the chicken issue and might be talked into creating another, but he would need the silver to bless water. The tribbles of 1st level characters. FYI, cure light wounds damages undead on a touch attack. They do get a Will Save for half damage.
