Naomi Chadwick |
init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 booo
what has Jarvis gotten us into?
Joining Jarvis further up the tunnel Naomi changes the "dancing lights" from four lanterns into one faintly glowing, vaguely humanoid shape and sends it through the doorway so she can see the undead and the layout of the room better. Out of the corner of her eye she catches Hagrym headed for the room calling for backup. Realizing that he intends to attack she calls in warning;
Watch the floor boys. It looks like Sharpened bone shards have been driven into the floor seams, there's a couple of undead, I'm hoping the light distracts them while it lets us see what else is going on.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

brvheart |

My fumbles are very simple. If you roll a 1 on an attack roll, you spend the rest of the round recovering your weapon, etc and are done for the round. I like simple:)

brvheart |

You expected the living in a burial mound that has not been uncovered in ages? You are nearing the end of this little mini adventure.

Jarvis Ward |

Jarvis motions to everyone to move up, motioning that in this room there are 2 more bad guys,
Ah more stuff to attack, much better then a silly puzzle in long forgotten languages...
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Whispering to his companions,"We should wait on either side of the door, draw them out and slaughter them as the come through," raising an eyebrow in question.
Moving over to one side of the door quietly, both hands on his scimitar and ready to chop anything that comes through.
Readied action as previously stated

brvheart |

Ok rolling init for the three
init Shandar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
init Lucky: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
init unser deutsche freund Ulfgard: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Initiative Order Round One
Turvijagal
Lucky
Galerio
Shandar
Jarvis
Hagrym
Ulfgard
Naomi
ghouls

Turvijagal |

"I'll have to get back to this lock later, then!"
Turvijagal sprints over to get behind Jarvis and draws his two short swords, waiting for trouble.
I wasn't expecting anything alive down here. Mind you, having undead popping up every time I try to unlock doors, it's "Oh no, not again!" As if anyone could be nonchalant about the undead!

brvheart |

We will let Cyrus catch up after the storm. Galerio and Shandar have already gone. Jarvis, Hagrym, Ulfgard and Naomi are up.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

As the others moved away, Cyrus leaned heavily on his staff as he stood and once certain his legs would support him, slowly approached the body of the creature the others had called a ghoul. Unsure of how such a creature came into being, Cyrus leaned the magical light of the staff towards it, the cold light giving the corpse even more of a tainted look.
Seemingly absorbed into the creature's skin was a worked leather cord that Cyrus pulled exposing an unknown symbol etched on a stained piece of preserved bone. On an instinctive level Cyrus felt a wrongness of the symbol, but he knew he had to examine it closely all the same. There was too much dark craft in this place for him not to collect all the information he could, although what he would be able to do with it, Zors only knew.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Working it free from the ghoul's flesh, Cyrus next patted the creature's pockets down looking for any other hints of what this creature could have been before the foulness of undeath claimed it. His pulse quickened when he discovered a small pouch, only to be as equally quickly deflated when there was nothing but a few rusting iron bits that may have been used for local currency.
~If nothing else, Almery will be happy to add these to his collection of historical items.~
Further examination was cut short when the cries of more undead were located up ahead. Another surge of adrenaline hit Cyrus and he moved quickly around the hallway with his staff held high to illuminate the area.
As the luring them from their room was suggested, Cyrus nodded in approval, trusting the others' combat skills far more than his own.
Cyrus will hold his action this round in case he needs to do a healing channel.

brvheart |

I will double move Ulfgard up. The ghouls just sway in the room and don't come out. Top of round!

Naomi Chadwick |
well can't sit out all of them
Naomi, hearing Jarvis announce that he would wait for the undead to come out decides to do the exact opposite.
come on boys, we looks silly all just standing here
30 ft. move, attacks with Dueling Sword
damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 for damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
swing and a miss

brvheart |

That brought a reaction from them as they both attack Naomi.
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 and Fort Save DC 13 x2
claw: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

One hit with a claw so one Fort Save.
Top of Round Two up

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Hearing the ghouls suddenly become active as the impulsive minstrel entered their room, Lucky looked to Hagrym and Ulfgard.
"You must do something! Those creatures will rip her to shreds!
Feeling the same strange heat building in him, Cyrus touched the knotted cord in his vest pocket as he touched Hagrym's arm. As before, the heat suddenly flared once and then disappeared leaving only a faint tingle in his hand.
"Strike true, as Zors will assist you."
Luck touch for Hagrym, Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Hagrym |

Hagrym moves into the room, taking the spot just south of Naomi. "I've got half a mind to let them eat you, lassie! Never disrupt a proper plan," he scolds as he tries to slice the zombie closest to him.
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Jarvis Ward |

Just an FYI I am going out of town this weekend starting Friday and may not post til Sunday night/Monday morning, sorry, feel free to play for me.

brvheart |

That ghoul only had one hit point left so 3 was more than enough to drop it!

brvheart |

Rolling fort save from ghoul claw on Naomi
fort save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

brvheart |

Moving Galerio up to cover. Shandar moves in and casts force missile on last ghoul force missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Naomi Chadwick |
wasn’t sure it I should still roll for fort.I assume the x2 was for each attack
fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3,fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Being bitten in her sword arm by the first ghoul and clawed across the shoulder by the other; Naomi scream as much from disgust as pain, seeing her companions kill the first ghoul that struck her she attacks the second, drawing upon her arcane power to enhance her sword with magical energy. Then stepping back 5 ft.she lets the boys finish the job.
Aauurgh, blasted ghouls, I hate undead!
Dueling Sword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 for damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

brvheart |

If those are her fort saves, Naomi isn't doing anything but stare into space. She is paralyzed: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds.

brvheart |

Ok, I am going to bed. Jarvis and Ulfgard are up. Perhaps Ulfgard can bull rush someone to get in?

Ulfgard Strongarm |

As much as he wishes, with his comrades in the way the dwarf has no chance to join the battle.... this round moving into a position to charge the last ghoul, or be charged he clangs his axe on his shield offering himself as a target."Come on ugly bastard, try me!"

brvheart |

Jarvis moves in and takes an attack with his scimitar
scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
confirm crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
additional damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

shandar milsap |

This happens when we rush in. Just stick to the plan OK? (Shakes head at the minstrel) we don't need to loose her.

Naomi Chadwick |
after a few seconds Naomi starts to come around, bleeding from two separate wounds she starts to become aware of her surroundings
hurts a lot more than I thought anything could, none of the instructors said anything about that, need to stay calm
As Naomi draws out her wand she begins to focus on music to calm herself so she can repair the damage. Hearing the friendly little man with the overly-large crossbow say something about a plan Naomi snaps at him, stalling the healing process momentarily
Stick to the plan? Really Shandar that's the solution? The plan sucked! They weren't coming out!
She pauses, turning away, then abruptly turning back
If that had been one of the dwarves or Turvijagal or Jarvis; you would be slapping him on the back talking about how "women dig scars" or "more balls than brains." I learned the sword for a reason, I'm here instead of some orchestra hall because I want to be. Don't tell me to stick to some little twits plan, like he's the general of the fricking empire. It was a stupid plan, people who swing swords get hurt, end of story.
Naomi walks away, focusing on the wand as blood runs down her arm. Humming slightly she uses the wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
the shoulder still sore and the bite on the arm still oozing and inflame; Naomi returns the "dancing lights" to the four lantern glow and follows Ulfgard wondering to herself
the soreness will go away after a couple of days, but that inflimation doesn't look good

shandar milsap |

Well I was going to try to bait them out to us. I am only concerned for your safety my lady we need your expertise.

how noble, now he want to rescue the damsel in distress
Naomi, testing her wrist, to make sure she has not compromised her skill; stops and turning, address' Shandar with a heavy sigh.
Bait them out? The only thing they were interested in was human flesh; no offence Ulfgard, Hagrym, I hear you guys taste terrible. Anyway what were you going to do? A song and dance routine? No offense you have no armor and you look like a strong wind would blow you away. Of all the people here your the least suited to have dealt with them.
thinking for a moment she continues
well except for Lucky there, no offence Lucky, unless you get your priesty mojo going your about useless
Turning to Ulfgard she asks
Can we please stop talking about this and move forward, were burning daylight.

Ulfgard Strongarm |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Moving closer Ulfgard is ready to slap Naomi´s face but then just slaps her arm.
" Listen, gal, and listen good. I know lassis like you, yes I do. They learn some fancy footwork and whirl their blade, and they think they can brave the world. I will tell you a secret, and you better listen. The world does not care s!&~! This is no practise bout in a well lit dancing hall, or what kind of school you were. This is fight to survive. It means if I have to kick my enemy between the legs, I will do. It means if I have to bite off his nose I do so. Because real fights are not for points, or for glory. They decide if you are alive, or dead. Now I will tell you something else. And you mightily listen. If Hasgrym or me attack the enemy it is to draw his ire. So that we get hit. So that the gals in childrens armor can dance around the enemy to hit it in the back. We are tough, we wear thick armor, because we know it might deflect the one hit. The one hit that should kill us because we were to slow, or distracted! And by Orcus hairy ass... what daylight? It is below, it is lighted because you light it."

brvheart |

Sounds like my house around here:) While you three are 'discussing', Turvijagal (man, that is hard to type!) finds a masterwork long sword near the makeshift shrine.

"Lucky" Cyrus |

Well except for Lucky there, no offence Lucky, unless you get your priesty mojo going you're about useless.
~She says this as if I asked to come here. I have never once tried to sell myself as more than what I am.~
<assuming all are gathered in the room now>
Reaching deep into the shallow pool that he imagined his connection to Zors resided, Cyrus struggled to summon the energy to the surface, but slowly it did and he sent it out among those gathered around him.
Healing burst: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Feeling weakened and sick, Cyrus tried to hide the frustration he felt, but knew he failed miserably.
"I never asked for this. I didn't grow up dreaming of grand adventures and of distant lands to visit. I grew up knowing that my best friends were a loaded pair of dice and an alchemist who didn't mind cutting a share with me when we drugged a mark. That was until a mark didn't wake up and I was sentenced to hang for killing a man I had only known for a night."
Reaching into his pocket, Cyrus pulled the knotted cord from his vest and let it dangle in his hands.
"Then the day came for me to die and my tale should have ended there on the spot, but the arm of the gallows snapped at the same time they pushed me from the platform. They said it was a sign from the gods that I was spared and that was the day everyone called me Lucky, but what is your life to be when every step you take, people still considered you nothing but a murderer and a thief."
Ignoring the dimming of the light at the end of the staff, Lucky instead pulled out the corrupted symbol he pulled from the ghoul, swapping it with his own.
"And in the span of a week, I have gone from sewing up prostitutes and dock workers and hearing the faintest of whispers of Zors to me through a scrap of the rope that was used to hang me to having the knowledge of ancient gods and demon princes filling my head. So each of you must forgive me if I have moments of being useless to you all, as I am finding it very hard to not sit in a corner and just bang my head against the wall gibbering like the crazy man I feel I am becoming."
Tossing the foul symbol onto the floor by the dwarven knight's feet, Lucky looked to Hagrym.
"I believe your god will approve you smashing that. Orcus is not known to be a friend of the dwarves and if I had to bet my last coin, I would say he is the reason the gods had came together down here long ago.

brvheart |

Except looking at the makeshift shrine in this room it appears to be to some different god. To whom you do not know, but it is not Orcus. It looks like a much older god.

Jarvis Ward |

Jarvis nods after all the berating, turns and moves up the hallway with his own dancing lights spell active floating ahead of him. Looking back and forth for another door or more unholy enemies.
Figures the GM can crit with my guy and I cant hit at all hah!
