Hmm. Requirements as summed up.
Reliable Posting.
Frequent instead of fast Posting.

That's the Vibe I'm getting from everyone so far.

*Edited to Reflect Koritylija's preferences.

Sounds about right, by my estimation. Though I like the word 'frequent' over 'fast', it just has different connotations. Then again, I'm just a player, so Lein (the GM) may have different expectations.

Sovereign Court

Question. How is HP gained on level ups handled? Is it rolled or is it 1/2+1?

HP are either rolled or half (not rounded up).

I'm playing the Dwarven Inquistor. Pretty standard fare as far as Dwarven Inquisitor's are concerned. The group as is seems a bit crazy but the game has been fun up until here, but we have been going too slow as of late. If we'd be able to get one round of posts or so per day I'd appreciate that...

As to the party we are essentially all melee characters so a caster particular an arcane one or someone who can do roguish stuff would be greatly appreciated...

Brek

I admit It's not fully done up yet lacking equipment, background and some other stuff. Will be working on it for now.

Rogue HP roll: 1d8 ⇒ 3
Sorceror HP roll: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Sorceror HP roll: 1d6 ⇒ 6

So it's choose one or is it either one.
I'll roll first as above.

When deciding where to get health from, you can either choose or roll. If you roll, that's your result, you can't then re-decide to take half.

Hi all, I'm glad to see some interest!

I'm not looking to speed it up to fast. Because I'm running several games on these boards here, and I have a pretty busy life of my own, there's really only so fast that I can keep up with and still make quality contributions. I just think we've been going pretty slow for awhile now and I wanted to revitalize it towards...y'know, moving forward.

In terms of roles, really anything that's not melee-oriented would be great. An arcane spellcaster is the greatest gap in our party composition, although we're also lacking on anyone with good amounts of skillpoints.

Yeah, same character creation guidelines :D

I think I got everything.

Any more questions?

Brek looks good - going for arcane trickster?

Liberty's Edge

I'll go ahead and bow out then. I was planning on melee (a ranger/monk).

Best of luck guys!

Yes Arcane Trickster but I'm keeping it open to either Sorceror or Rogue as well.

Abit of a Pyromanic now......Just realised how many rays I have.....

Brek is now completed. Do tell me if I missed anything. I went rampant Copy and Paste on him.

I have already rolled as above so I'm keeping them. I did have good rolls. :P

Hey Angmar has a very nice amount of skills he just doesn't have disable device or diplomacy :)

I could cover that. :)
You just need to keep the nasties off me.

I'm gonna wait a day or two to see if there's any more interest in this before I let anyone in, if that's okay :)

That is to say, re-recruitment is still open, I'm looking for probably one additional person. What the party needs is utility and probably some more healing. We're currently relying on a drow with one oracle level and a 4th-level inquisitor for all of our healing needs.

thinking about an elven alchemist. Plenty of utility and some healing.

rolls

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 1) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 5) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 6) = 21 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 5) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 3) = 19 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 3) = 12 = 10 DROP
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 6) = 15 = 14

Great rolls! I'll see what I can come up with.

Shadow Lodge

Wow. Normally a recruitment thread this long has gotten to the point players have been picked. Hmm... might just finish up a character and submit once I check the creation rules.

This campaign's been running for eight months and I've already picked players, yes, I'm just very recently looking for more!

Shadow Lodge

Well, the tiefling bloidrager probably isn't a good fit then. XD
Hmm... I do like my Life Oracles, and I could still use the non-bloodrager stuff.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 6) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 4) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 5) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 5) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 2) = 11 dropoed
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 4) = 17 16

I can work with that.

Hmmm Healing... I could just get me a wand of Infernal healing if that helps.

I should probably take this moment to say "Please get a good look at Dmitri before anyone makes someone holier than thou." Because wow. The phrase "Self Hammer" sounds pretty accurate.

I suppose I Ain't that holy?

Shadow Lodge

Ha, 6'6 matches my tiefling!

Dragonborn3 here with my partially complete oracle.

That's some cool Avatar. Je'grik.

Thanksss.

Background done, just need equipment, a campaign trait, and spells.

So I think I can afford to say that I'll allow Brek and Je'grik to check into the Discussion thread for now. Read back some into the Gameplay thread, chat up the other players, make sure that your statblocks are completely finished.

I'll introduce y'all soon enough.

Roger that. It's going to take me some time as I need to leave for work.

1d12 + 3 + 3 + 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 3 + (3, 8, 8) + 3 = 38

I love you, Hip Points roll.

Aeris's Stats:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3) = 11 -> 10 + 2 -> 12 DEX
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 1) = 9 -> 8 CHA
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 5) = 20 -> 17 + 2 -> 19 + 1 -> 20 INT
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 3) = 12 -> 10 WIS
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 5) = 17 -> 14 - 2 -> 12 CON
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 2) = 13 -> 11 STR
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 3) = 8 -> 7 DROPPED

Numbers in bold are racial modifiers.
The number in italic is from 4th level.
hp:

6 + 4d6 + 5 ⇒ 6 + (1, 5, 2, 5) + 5 = 24

So your resultant stats are

10
8
17
10
14
11

plus an increase from being fourth-level?

That seems fairly balanced enough. Only 17-point buy, but wizards are SAD.

Oho? New blood? New arcane blood no less? This fellow is going to hate me! Make sure you prepare infernal healing, it's going to be messyyyyy.

He's a friend of mine. I'm trying to think of a way to introduce him.

We needed an arcane and he wanted to play a character.

Greetings! Here is some rolls.

Stats:

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 2) - 1 = 11 Str

4d6 - 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 2) - 2 + 2 + 1 = 18 Wis Human Mod+4th level

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 6) - 1 = 14 Dex

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 1) - 1 = 5

4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 4) - 3 = 13 Cha

4d6 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 2) - 2 + 2 = 13 Int Dual Talent alternate racial trait

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 3) - 1 = 12 Con

19 Point Buy. :)

HP:
8 + 4d8 + 5 ⇒ 8 + (8, 1, 2, 8) + 5 = 32

With a humble bow, I am going to bow out.

Cheers, :)

Alrighty then!

The above character drafts aside, I'd like to open up recruitment for this thread again!
We're looking for a divine, we're 5th-level this time, and we're just hitting the beginning of the second book of our Legacy of Fire AP.

The current party:

Dmitri Mavis - LE human fighter (unbreakable) 1/antipaladin 4. This character is a tank. With 18 Con and great health rolls, he's sitting on 71 health. He's also a sadomasochist and believes women are the temples of his diety. He's also quite cruel.

Koritylija - CN drow barbarian (brutal pugilist/urban barbarian) 3/oracle of battle 2. A grappler and all-around angry ex-slave, she's going for rage prophet.

Brek - CG ifrit fire sorcerer 3/rogue 2. Funnyman and utility character, not great combat applicability but great skills and such.

Apollo - CG human ranger (beastmaster) 4/fighter (two-handed fighter) 1. Hugely powerful damage-dealer with his earthbreaker in combat, but has poor health, so he's ended up being more of a glass cannon. A bit reckless, and a certain gnoll-hater.

Aeris - N sylph air elementalist wizard 5. Paranoid and lightning-shooting, he just joined a bit ago.

All Core races are allowed, in addition to Aasimar, Tiefling, Oread, Undine, Sylph, Ifrit, Goblin, Orc, Hobgoblin, and Drow.

Ability scores will be generated with dicerolling. You will roll 4d6 seven times, discarding the lowest dice roll from each set as well as the lowest total of the seven sets. Assign ability scores as you see fit.

You can look through the thread for various setting information, I suppose. Download the Legacy of Fire players' guide. Two traits, you don't have to pick a campaign trait, but you can if you want.

Health can either be rolled, or you can take half (not half+1) for a given level.

The characters are 5th-level, and you can feel free to have WBL for that level if you want. I'm looking for a divine character. It doesn't have to be full divine, or WIS-based divine, or positive-energy-channeling divine, or anything else, but please have your characters with inquisitor, oracle, cleric, druid, paladin, or ranger levels (did I forget one?).

The deal with your introduction is that you've been captured by gnolls in the House of the Beast and were being made to dig out collapsed portions of the ancient temple to Rovagug. Recently, a schism between the gnolls and their troglodyte allies afforded you and a half-dozen other human slaves the opportunity to escape, and you've been hiding out in an outbuilding in the temple for a couple of days.

I would suggest strongly against a paladin, given the circumstances. I'm not the type to throw wrenches in a game, but one of the ass-stick paladin types would certainly cause more strife than I'm willing to deal with, unless you can make a paladin that isn't... well... Let's call it "Close minded"

I have this character that I could level up I was submitting him to another legacy game

Interested at all?

You'd have to be fine with a T-Rex on the prowl too, but Dmitri would be your biggest concern. A devout Cleric to the good would be someone Dmitri would likely kill, just because he's Dmitri. ;)

Not that your characters have to like each other, but as long as they can get on enough or put up with each other enough to form other relationships and get on with the campaign, that'd be fine.

Could even have a lawful good Cleric who pities Dmitri for falling so far and looks out for him instead. as long as you don't pray in front of him, I don't see the issue, haha!

I resent that statement. Dmitri doesn't abhor good alignments in particular, rather, he dislikes people who flaunt their virtues more than anything else. Him and our previous cleric got along just fine. Dmitri isn't primarily a cruel vindicating monster, he's merely a hedonist first and foremost.

If Dmitri were left alone long enough, he'd probably just find any number of pleasures to try and expand his number of faithful, all the while raising up his boudoir to a pretty grand scale.

That said, that's exactly why I'm against the prospect of someone who goes "Evil is bad! Blarg, destroy the evil! He's sinning, he must be a murderer!" "Actually I saved this city and they let me make a Boudoir because I freed it." "SILENCE NON-Believer!"

THATS when I crit them.

Belsiard the Wanderer wrote:

Yeah! He'd need a bit of updating, especially the explanation of how he got to 5th-level and how he got captured by the gnolls, but I'd say that character could be a candidate.

Well...it could be as simple as he has been wandering the desert eventually he tried to take revenge on the gnolls and was captured. Actually that is probably it.

His wandering a are how he gained his levels and loot.

I will wait to know if you want me the I will level him up if chosen. Do you have a timeframe for selection?

Also as a pm if for myself I am very active with over 20k posts. I run three games on the boards so it is not likely that I will go anywhere.

I mean, I'm not going to choose anyone that doesn't have a complete application that I like, nor are you guaranteed a spot for being the only applicant.

So you need it fully crunched out to be considered?

As far as the rest of the backstory, I would have him been a wanderer for years and recently captured. Once I understand what you need to see to decide I can do it.

I mean, at the very least I need something a little bit more detailed. Saying "I wandered for years and that's how I gained my levels", I don't think is enough.

What happened? What encounters did you get into and why? Where did you wander? How did you end up in the Pale Mountain region?

I don't need it fully crunched out, but I'd like at least an idea of where you're going with your character. Feat chains, combat role, out-of-combat role, general skill distribution.

Also, the ability score/health rolls.

Essentially we want you to make a character as if you've failed 14 times trying to get into rise of the runelords prior, and college is 3 months away, and you've failed every other time.

Fluff if out, basically.

Physical description, Moral line, History, Recent events, Greatest fear, etc, etc.

I'd actually be very interested

I'm looking at a Cleric of Sivanah, goddess of Illusions.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 4) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 1) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 1) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 4) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 6) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 2) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 2) = 11 10

Well that's crap.

Let's see, that's... 13 point buy.

Go ahead and re-roll that, actually. Re-roll if you get above 30 points or below 15 points.

Based off dmitris reply I will withdraw. While making more details is fine as is a map of his build. If I am expected to be "as if I am in college on summer break" and commit that kind of time I cannot do that. I am an avid poster and, I think, good player but if you expect that kind of time I can't give it. You make it sound like a job not a game.

You seem like an awesome group but I am afraid I would be booted for not being as committed as he is

Apologies for poor grammar this is on a phone

Not so much as if you were on college break, I didn't really mean it like that, really. I was referring to myself and the fact that I failed to get in rise of the runelords like 14 times.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 6) = 23 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 6) = 21 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 4) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 2) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 5) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 3) = 18 15

Well that's 42, so another reroll

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 3) = 12 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1) = 7 6
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 1) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 5) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 1) = 8 7
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 5) = 23 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 4) = 16 15

And that's 28 and despite my dislike of the 7 it's very workable. I'll get busy on it.

Hey, I only post every 3 days or so, and I'm on college on summer break XD

I expect reliability, not speed.

I see. I still think I will pass. Just have a feeling I am abad fit. Also evil characters scare me off. As a dm in these games I always regret not going w my gut and this is one of those times I have a feeling

Thanks all the same!

Still working on it

Changed her patron from Sivanah to Nethys, still going for Cleric.

She'll be an Emberkin (Peri-blooded) Aasimar who capitalised on her inner struggle between the good of her angelic and peri ancestors and the evil of her fallen angel ancestors. She is Neutral, will channel both positive and negative energy and will go for the Envoy of Balance PrC at either level 7 or lvl 9, depending on domain choice and the such.

As far as the group goes, she cares about balance and considers both good and evil to be necessary things, same goes for law and chaos. Considering the general chaotic nature of the group she's likely to lean a bit towards lawful, though only enough to maintain a balance and not threaten the balance within her soul.

EDIT: As for combat, she'll be summoning, buffing and otherwise casting from behind the front.

EDIT2: Now I just need to figure out how to get my Aeon familiar without interfering with my entry into Envoy of Balance.
