I'd be perfectly fine with keeping Identify, if you want something else. It's a pretty niche spell anyway, maybe there are things that will be useful more often. I really liked Unbreakable Heart, btw. Didn't even know that existed.

I picked up identify because I wasn't sure if the detect magic/spellcraft thing was covered by anyone. This lets me a bit less 'fill in the gaps.'

Alright guys, I have a question: Since I already mentioned I was going for DD down the line, would it be super duper wrongbadfun to put a point into linguistics and take Draconic at this point?
Edit: Also, is it possible to make a note of any party payouts on the spreadsheet? I think I'm going to be sitting on my share for the time being.
Edit, part deux: Add another shortbow to be sold to the pot.

![]() |

I wouldn't think so. We certainly encountered and communicated (albeit just barely) with some native Draconic speakers.

Túrante Poicellë |

Sounds fine to me! You could always get a book or something from Oleg's. "Draconic for Dummies..."
Also, since I'm swiping the MW chain shirt, feel free to add 12 gp 5 sp to the party fund as I sell back my studded leather armor. Likewise, since I nabbed a longbow, add 15 gp for selling back my shortbow. (Total added to party fund should be 27 gp 5 sp.)

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Yeah, I'm fine with you picking up Draconic. If you want an in game reasoning, you can assume you chatted with a guard that gave you pointers or something.

Emil Mordrane |

Ok!
Cavalier (Order of the Flame) 2
+9 hit points (+6 cavalier, + 2 con mod, +1 favored)
+1 BAB
+1 Fort save
+ 1 rank in:
Diplomacy
Perception
Ride
Swim
Handle Animal
Linguistics
Emil gains Foolhardy Rush!
Flora gains Iron Will and gets to have her hp calculated properly by her owner who was a jackass and forgot to determine that at level one.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

For the sake of clarity, "South East" is the hex to the right of the Trading Post. South is adjacent to where you saw the kobolds. Which were you going to, and are you exploring?

Francesca "Franka" Aigner |

On direction: My initial idea was to go south (adjecent to the forest square we explored already), but we can probably set out East first, to explore that. After that, we can head south to the Forest square, so that we'll know about the three hexes adjacent to the Outpost on that side.
About the Loot list: If it's all the same to you, I would prefer it people would keep track of their own gold. I also don't think it's needed to put funds for your own sales back into the party fund. I sold my own leather armor, but just added 5 gp to my own equipment sheet.
About languages: I also picked up Linguistics. I'd like to assume that Franka had already been studying her spellbook and various other tomes in her spare time. Hearing the kobolds made stuff 'click', and she now has a working knowledge of Draconic.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Ok, South it is! This is one encounter that I'm burning on the altar of "PbP expedience"; given how it went IRL, I don't think it would work well in PbP at all.

Túrante Poicellë |

Amusingly, I am just now running the trapdoor spider encounter in the KM PbP that I'm doing. :)

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Yeah, I ran that IRL before, and it took a couple hours because everyone was either melee or terrified to attack it.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

@Janna: For continuing towards the boar, is that South West?

![]() |

Honestly, I (the player) don't recall where we thought the boar was. Down and to the Left is fine by me, in absence of a true lead.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

It was last seen in the Narlmarches, relatively to the South West of you. Anyone want to second that?
Also, would having a list of active plot hooks help out? I wasn't sure how heavy handed I should be, though I can err on the side of "people aren't going to remember stuff from two weeks ago."

Túrante Poicellë |

Well, we have:
* Map the whole area (long term)
* Eliminate bandits, esp. the "Stag Lord" (long term)
* Deal with kobolds (friendly or otherwise)
* Find Svetlana's wedding ring
* Find Falgrim Sneeg and bring him to justice (may be a while)
* Hunt the boar (seems a current contender)
* Follow up on the mites (also a possible contender)
* Find the tree from the rough map (no idea on where it is, though)
For the KM game that I run I actually keep a "quest log" on the campaign info tab, kinda like a video game, so players can see that, and I ✓ check off quests when they complete them.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Yeah, I was thinking about doing something like that. I wasn't sure if we wanted to differentiate between "actual quests" or "plotlines"? If that's something that's helpfull, though, I'd be happy to add it and make it editable for the group.

Túrante Poicellë |

I like using the quest log just because it's a quick at-a-glance reminder of what you're trying to do, and of what you've already done, without going through miles of prior posts. :)

Francesca "Franka" Aigner |

I wouldn't mind a list of 'leads' that we haven't followed up yet. Maybe also put some rough directions we were given? My sense of direction is quite poor, so I'm still a bit fuzzy on where the Kamelands are. Also, I've forgotten what we were supposed to find this boar. :*)

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

FYI: I added a new icon to the map to depict fords (the water hex with the arrow.) I might use the double arrow later to depict roads; we'll see.
Also, of course I roll a nat 20 when rolling for Audsley :P

Audsley King |

Of course! Audsley demands nothing less! I shall level him up pronto. In fact, I may get carried away and level him right up to level 3!

Francesca "Franka" Aigner |

Wolfspirit, I've put Franka back at maximum health. With the days of travel without incident, I could've spent my spells in the meantime to heal. Same goes for you, Túrante.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Yeah, that's fine given the amount of time and healers you have.
On provisions, we have two votes towards forging and foraging ahead. You just need to say which direction.
Most relevant directional matters for the moment: The boar is most likely somewhere to the west. The bandit encampment is likely somewhere south west. There is a river hex to the South (may cost extra provisions) and the Mites are somewhere East-ish.

Francesca "Franka" Aigner |

Yikes. I hope we didn't bite off more than we can chew...

Audsley King |

So... thoughts? I'm up for the ambush. Maybe have one of us stay on the trail to stop them and engage in conversation, then the others attack from the flanks?
DM, how close are we to the fort? Will combat easily be heard by those within?

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

You're close enough that combat would likely be noticed (especially if any of them break off), but far enough that they would be separate encounters if it comes to it.
We could get into a stealth vs perception game, but the group as a whole isn't very stealthy to begin with.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

FYI: I just found out that I need to fly out first thing in the morning for a business trip, returning late on Friday. I'll have tons of time waiting around for flights, but I have no idea what my availability is like. I'll try to post at night, but I can't guarantee it.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Poking in; I'll try to make an update tomorrow. Did anyone else have anything to add to the discussion with the bandits, or is everyone having issues with the message boards like I was?

Túrante Poicellë |

Apparently Paizo managed to flood their servers by doing the humble bundle thing and not being prepared, so they've had two days of people being unable to connect.

Emil Mordrane |

Hope your trip went well! If you were wondering, you didn't miss much.
Reporting PFS these past few days was FUN! "Hey, what's the event number?""I don't know, let me look it up..."

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

I'm immensely sorry that last week dragged out like it did. Hopefully things will return to some sense of normalcy :)

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

A couple updates: I've noticed Sera's absence, and was hoping it was just from lack of combat. I followed up and she seems to have stopped posting on the boards the middle of last month (including in one other game she was participating in.) While I hope for the best, I'm going to assume she's no longer playing.
Second, I'm not quite sure what the party's plan is, though I will say that trying to intercept the patrol while in range of the keep is probably asking to be pincered between the two groups ;) Just a pointer for the tactically sound members of the party.

![]() |

Ideally, the plan (at least in Jannas head) was to draw the patrol away from the keep. If we can pull them away we can fight them where they have no reinforcements nearby. Maybe even get them close enough to Olegs that we have reinforcements, ourselves.
This might not have been clear, but I was thinking we could wait an hour or two, then chase them down.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Ok, you threw my carefully laid plans for a loop, but we'll have combat up first thing in the morning!

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

I'm going to leave Sera out for now, although being gone from the boards for a month makes it likely that they're gone for good :/
Again, I'd like to apologize for the slow progress; between work, getting my wife ready for a trip, and absolutely atrocious connection to the boards it's been horrendous. (I couldn't even get initiative earlier to write my post offline :P)
Thanks for sticking around and I promise things will pick up :)

Emil Mordrane |

That's fine; honestly, I've been running ragged lately. I will keep up, but I might not be the swiftest poster in the west anymore. Profession:Self-depreciating twit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Audsley King |

How much prep time do we have to ready spells, etc?
And no worries! I too have been swamped of late.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

I'll say you have a round to prepare, then the surprise round. It's a winding hilly area, so even though you heard them ahead of time, unless it's a 10 minutes per level spell there's a chance it would be wasted otherwise.

Audsley King |

Hey guys, the GM's given me the OK to post some news and an offer:
I've just finished writing Book 1 in The Chronicles of the Black Gate, a new epic fantasy series that I'm publishing on Amazon. It's currently with my editor, but I'm hoping to publish it mid-April and have already begun outlining and plotting Book 2.
The reason I'm bringing this up is because I'm looking for sharp, creative, fantasy-oriented folk who might enjoy reading an ARC enough to write an honest review come launch day. If you're between books or curious enough to read the first chapter, you can grab a copy in either PDF or EPUB format here in my Dropbox folder.
Here's the very rough blurb:
Long ago, in a time forgotten, great teleportation gates were opened connecting disparate cities across the world into a single unified empire. Yet when one city destroys its gates and launches an invasion of the others, it creates an opportunity for long-standing grudges and ancient evils to flourish. For the first time in centuries sin casters are seen fighting alongside the rebels, and their presence threatens everybody from the Perfecti in their floating ivory city of Aletheia to the pale slaves laboring in the chthonic realm of Bythos.
The war sunders Lady Kyferin's family and realm, and when she's banished with her retinue to an abandoned and demon-haunted fortress in the wilds, her fate seems certain. Yet even in the darkest moment there can be a dream of light, and as war rages across the realm she must lead her knights and advisers along a desperate course if they're to survive their exile and hope for a vengeful return.
Many thanks!

Francesca "Franka" Aigner |

Sounds interesting, Audsley. And having a book published sounds like a great accomplishment! I'm not sure whether I'd be up for writing a review, but I'll check out the first chapter out of interest.

Audsley King |

Sorry everyone, whole family's been hit with the flu. Wife and daughter are now recovering even as I slide down into the trenches. I'll post as soon as I get better. Thanks for your patience.

![]() |

Man, it's harder to decide to attack for the entire group on PbP than it is in person, that's for sure.
Here's hoping it doesn't all go to hell.

![]() |

I'm not beyond waiting a bit longer for Audsley to be back up and running.
Not speaking for anyone else, but I can wait.

Kingmaker Wolfspirit |

Allright. I just don't want anyone feeling like we're dragging. It is a pretty tense moment, to be sure.
