Kingdom event Abadius: 1d100 ⇒ 7
Beneficial kingdom event: 1d100 ⇒ 64
Good Weather: Good weather raises spirits and productivity. Economy, Loyalty, and Productivity increase by 2 until the next Event phase.
The winter has been mild and shows signs of breaking soon.
Kingdom event Calistril: 1d100 ⇒ 25
Beneficial kingdom event: 1d100 ⇒ 22
Economic Boom: Trade is booming in your kingdom! Your Treasury increases by 1d6 BP (each time you roll a 6, add the result to the total and roll again).
Boom: 1d6 ⇒ 1
At least the D6's are in my favor.
The mild winters end brings the first traders to your city, eager to get the early deals.
New player is almost ready to join to group, we can have her roleplay the meeting in the months you've spent at home.

I really like the halfling event - Isabel votes yes! :)
Will update the spreadsheet now, don't think most of them will make much difference.
Overall gain: 3BP, 1 society, 1 stability!
I'll do the next two turns today so we can get back to adventuring, any suggestions?
@DBH - is the new halfling settlement something we need to track or does it just work without us?

Darian Aulamaxa |

For RP flavor: I think we need to get some Noble Villas built to give members of the council a place to live. Unless everyone is happy living in the castle. But I figure everyone having a place to call their own gives us each more freedom to customize things to their own tastes.
Stable - 5 BP, gains +1 Economy, +1 Loyalty, +500 gp to Base Value
Tannery - 3 BP, gains +1 Economy, +1 Stability, +1 Society
Current Discounted Buildings in Silverhold: (Already built Jail, Dump, and Cistern, all should have been at discount)
Noble Villa - 12 BP, gains +1 Economy, +1 Loyalty, +1 Stability, +1 Fame, +1 Society. Opens up discounts to Exotic Artisan, Luxury Store, Mansion.
Barracks - 3 BP, -1 Unrest, +2 Defense, +1 Law, can upgrade to Garrison later
Watchtower - 6 BP, +1 Stability, - 1 Unrest, +2 Defense
Graveyard - 2 BP, +1 Loyalty
Monument - 3 BP, +1 Loyalty, -1 Unrest
Shrine - 4 BP, +1 Loyalty, -1 Unrest, gain 1 minor potion, scroll, or wondrous item.
I think we should save our Unrest reduction buildings for when we need them. Don’t see a dire need for a graveyard yet. So in Silverhold I am now doubly leaning towards Noble Villa for mechanical and RP reasons, and for Oleg’s, I think both of those are quite helpful.

Johanna Atsuko |

ah great, He said to level to 4 in PM but Johanna was already level 4 so I will level her to 5 assuming he had a typo. I can do it in word and just copy paste once he give the go ahead. Happy to join the group.

We can do 2 Villas in one build phase, so we can get fancy houses up for however wants fancy digs pretty easily. (Lisl and Josef?) I like the boosts too.
Will put the post up shortly.

Darian Aulamaxa |

That works. Though only one would be discounted.
Also, since next month’s turn also will involve the child birth, should we get that RP going? And will we let the DM make the call as to what kind of child we have, arbitrarily or with rolls?
Race: Human with chance of Aasimar?
Chance of Twins? Triplets?
Gender(s)?
Etc.

Turn 11 (Pharast) - (Balance 23 BP, Size 11, Unrest 0)
Upkeep - Stability DC 33: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (8) + 28 = 36 +1 BP
— Consumption: 0
Edicts - Claim Temple of the Elk (1 BP) Spider Nest (1BP) + Farm (4BP), Noble Villa in Silverhold (12BP, +1 Econ, Loyal, Stab, Society, Fame).
—Holiday: 1 (+1 Loyalty, +1 Consumption)
—Promotion: Token (+1 Stability, +1 Consumption)
—Taxation: Normal (+2 Econ, -2 Loyalty)
Economy - 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26/3 = 8BP + 7 = 16BP
Balance - 21 BP, Size 13, Consumption Net = -6, Unrest 0.
---------------------------------------------------
Turn 12 (Gozran) - (Balance 21 BP, Size 13, Unrest 0)
Upkeep - Stability DC 35: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (8) + 29 = 37 +1 BP
— Consumption: 0
Edicts - Claim Beldame (1 BP), Oleg West (1BP) + Farm (4BP), Noble Villa in Silverhold (12BP, +1 Econ, Loyal, Stab, Society, Fame).
—Holiday: 1 (+1 Loyalty, +1 Consumption)
—Promotion: Token (+1 Stability, +1 Consumption)
—Taxation: Normal (+2 Econ, -2 Loyalty)
Economy - 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (12) + 22 = 34/3 = 11BP + 7 = 18BP
Balance - 22 BP, Size 15, Consumption Net = -8, Unrest 0.
-------------------------------
And that's it, our first year! Mechanics all done, now time for RP. Once GM_DBH rolls the remaining events I'll update and we'll be all done!

Thanks for the welcome. Ummm, you guys may be in some trouble. So the control DC for tun 11 was 33. The Economy Roll was 26 it has to beat the control DC to generate BP, your Economy is pretty low unless you guys have a house rule in place. So looks like the Economy roll would fail for turn 12 as well as the DC went to 35 and the roll was 34. You normally want Economy to pretty much auto pass for this reason and only fail on a "1"

Darian Aulamaxa |

Also, looking at the map: is that Hex fair game to claim, or is it part of Brevoy? I always thought that the road itself was likely owned by and was within Brevoy’s borders, with Oleg’s post being just outside their territory.
If we can claim those northernmost hexes, awesome! Free roads to boot! But I doubt that’s the case.

I don’t see anything saying the Economy Check has to pass the Control DC. It just says make the roll and do the math. Now, granted, I may be overlooking it, but based on my quick reread I don’t see anything saying as such.

![]() |

Stability has to beat Control DC - if it does and you have no Unrest you generate an extra BP.
As for the economy roll we just roll and split the result by 3. Nothing against the check at all AFAIK.
We can just about get the second villa assuming we can run a deficit briefly. I'll just tweak our treasury and not make this mistake again! :) Thanks for the catch hubby dear! We save about 5 BP from the discounted buildings I didn't count, so we end this turn with
15BP total.

Lisl Morozov |

I think the relevant rule is:
"Step 4—Collect Taxes: Attempt an Economy check, divide the result by 3 (round down), and add a number of BP to your Treasury equal to the result.
Example: Jessica and the other leaders need to keep BP in the kingdom for future plans, so they skip Step 1 of the Income phase. They are worried that they won’t collect enough taxes this turn, so just in case, in Step 2 they deposit 8,000 gp worth of coins, gems, and small magic items (Treasury +2 BP). The leaders aren’t selling any expensive items, so nothing happens in Step 3. In Step 4, Rob, the Treasurer, rolls the Economy check to collect taxes. Rob rolls a 9 on the 1d20, adds the kingdom’s Economy score (55), and subtracts Unrest (4) for a total of 60, which means the kingdom adds 20 BP (the Economy check result of 60, divided by 3) to the Treasury. At the end of this phase, the kingdom has Economy 55, Loyalty 42, Stability 55, Unrest 4, Consumption 4, and Treasury 27 BP."
Economy checks vs. Control DC are for things like finding a specific magic item for sale.

Johanna Atsuko |

I have played Kingmaker at least 6 times. Hopefully one of these times it will make it all the way to the end. Economy is always against the control DC. Hence the word "Attempt" in the collect taxes. In the first URL there is an old example where Jessica was worried they would fail the roll with an average roll so in the edict phase they moved leadership.
Now if you guys have been playing that the roll can't fail except on a 1 that fine I'm down long as the GM is cool with it.

GM_DBH |

It is a difficult one, as I'm using Ultimate campaign for the Kingdom building and administration details I looked it over there.
Step 4—Collect Taxes: Attempt an Economy check, divide the result by 3 (round down), and add a number of BP to your Treasury equal to the result.
Example: Jessica and the other leaders need to keep BP in the kingdom for future plans, so they skip Step 1 of the Income phase. At the end of this phase, the kingdom has Economy 55, Loyalty 42, Stability 55, Unrest 4, Consumption 4, and Treasury 27 BP.
As BP isn't actual wealth but wood, stone and metals for building I'm going with using a straight economy check, not an opposed check. If it was rolling for gold and magic items it would be much harder. :)
@Johanna. My mistake, you should be level 5.

![]() |

Well my dice roll turned up a boy :)
As to gender... I'd imagine human. There's a reason that a. Aasimar are rare, and b. humans are the dominant species.
@Johanna: looking at the age of the sources you quoted I think the original rules in the Kingmaker AP itself must have tied economy to control DC. The Ultimate Campaign rules, however, don't. I've played a few kingmakers too and I've never had anyone use the originally printed AP rules over UC - so that might be where the confusion is coming in.

GM_DBH |

Running that kingdom while lying on her back and screaming her head off. That's our Isabel. :)
Kingdom event Pharast: 1d100 ⇒ 23 Oh come on!
Beneficial kingdom event: 1d100 ⇒ 92
New Subjects: A small group of indigenous intelligent creatures joins your kingdom and submits to your rule.
Society and Stability increase by 1, Unrest decreases by 1, and your Treasury increases by 1d6 BP (each time you roll a 6, add the result to the total and roll again).
Since this is from Ultimate campaign and the number of indigenous inhabitants of the Stolen lands is nearly none I'm going with settlers from outside Brevoy and your Kingdom.
Kingdom event Gozran: 1d100 ⇒ 49
Dangerous Kingdom event: 1d100 ⇒ 69

Johanna Atsuko |

Agree the sources are old. I'm in 2 other active kingmaker games now and it is rolled against the DC, but that doesn't matter here. Sorry for making such a poor first impression. This is the first time I've seen it done this way so just wanted to be clear moving forward :).
I have a software install this morning at a different site, but I should be leveled up soon and can post in Gameplay whenever the GM is ready to add me :)

My apologies. Been doing some preparation work, but it is time to knuckle down and focus.
Moving from my apartment to a rented home. Movers arrive Wednesday.
I hope to be reach a new normal schedule by Monday.
I'm not supposed to be without internet except while moving my home network, but . . ..
Everyone has a sad story or two about moving house and internet connections. Except me, last time I moved house there was no such thing as an internet. Man I'm old!

Josef Orlovsky |

Moving is going worse than expected. Have to put my 'puter in a different room than the router. I don't have a wireless NIC! That's now on the shortlist.
I'm too old with hands too big to type well/quickly on my phone . . ..

Josef Orlovsky |

Okay. Big stuff is moved. Probably 11 or 12 trips of loose "things" from our storage garage to get, yet, plus whatever's still in the apartment.
Have my bed set up, the entertainment center set up and configured, my computer set up (and a wireless NIC added because it is too far from the router to wire !), and I've found my clean underwear!
So, now I can type on a keyboard instead of trying to cram my fingers on the fake keyboard on my phone. Time to try to catch up, after I share the post across my games.

GM_DBH |

Just to let everyone know I'm not quite dead. I've had a nasty cold the last two weeks and it hammered me this weekend.
I'm sleeping for a few hours, coughing myself awake. Sitting around staring miserably at anything I can find to distract myself for an hour or two. Then falling asleep again.
So no update tonight, and Tuesday is looking grim as well.

Don't rush back - better to be entirely well and enjoy posting again than try to rush back and have it feel like a chore!
Get well soon! ;)

Darian Aulamaxa |

Yeah I wasn't fishing for an update. Just was checking on ya. Habits of a nurse and all that.
...But let the record show I wished you well prior to you mentioning you were keeping track. ;-P

Johanna Atsuko |

I agree, I know when I do get sick it kicks the crap out of me and I will open and read post and then be like nah I will post later. :) Sucks to be sick over a weekend. Still wishing you well.

Johanna Atsuko |

Hurication is over. We have power and we are now back to work. I will be playing catch up. I hope to read through and make a game play post. Thank you all for the patience. We were lucky and just had debris with no damage at home.

Darian Aulamaxa |

Spreading this to all my games:
Sorry guys, planned on some substantial posting today. But upon return from a weekend trip, discovered some house chores that were in desperate need of no longer ignoring. So I’ve been occupied there today. I’ll post something of decent size as soon as life allows. Will continue smaller posts from mobile for now.

Darian Aulamaxa |

MW light steel shield (Pass)
Mithral shirt (Interested, but willing to pass)
Breastplate + 1 (Interested, but willing to pass)
Shortbow + 1 (Interested, but willing to pass)
Flame arrows (3), (Group Loot?)
Wand of cure light wounds (30 charges) ==> Group Loot for sure! Lisl wanna carry it?
Dagger, (Sell?)
Cloak of resistance +1 (Pass)
Ring of protection +1 (Interested, but willing to pass)
Anyone want any of the above?
3236gp in various gems.
11 pp, 610 gp, 260 sp
____________________
3,982 gp worth of coinage+gems / 7 shares = 568 gp, 8 sp, 5 cp each

Darian Aulamaxa |

Side note: our group fund is up to:
1336 gp, 600 sp, 901 cp
If anyone wants to perhaps try and order anything for the group, or has any suggestions at any point for the group fund, by all means post as such and we will see what is possible.

Johanna Atsuko |

Ring of Protection is all I'm interested in but with Parry my AC is alright it should go to others first. I need my muleback cords magiced up and resistance added later on. So I don't need dibs on anything can sell for group money.

Freya Velson |

The only item that I would be interested in is the ring, but that could be put to better use by someone who puts themselves in more physical danger than Freya tends to.
As a reminder, Freya does have the Cauldron hex which gives her the Brew Potion feat if there are potions that folks would like made.

Josef Orlovsky |

MW light steel shield (Pass)
Mithral shirt (Have one - You ought to take it, Darian.)
Breastplate + 1 (Pass)
Shortbow + 1 (Pass)
Flame arrows (3), (Group Loot? Sure)

Cloak of resistance +1 (Have one - Everyone but Johanna has one already, right?)
Ring of protection +1 (If I take it, my core AC reaches 19.)
3,982 gp worth of coinage+gems / 7 shares = 568 gp, 8 sp, 5 cp each
I need to remember to add that to my char sheet . . ..
