I’m hoping it’s not the case, but based on DBH saying he has reached out and not heard back from Josef, should we prepare for looking for another replacement?

And to that end, if we do need to replace him do we want to pull from the prior recruitment or perhaps re-advertise?

Wonder if we could convince Narthropple to come back and be hired on as a freelance cartographer. He clearly had no intention of settling down here, but maybe he’d like to make some extra coin for his future enterprises while doing what he was doing anyway. Though his current price is a bit high.

Also, we still have all that coin from Stag Lord we haven’t divided yet. Do we wanna do that now, or see what kind of price we can negotiate out of the gnome first?

So, I’ve been thinking about our little Kingdom building method here, and I am more and more thinking that we should start developing the little fiefdoms sooner than later. It will let everyone have their own little area, and build in their own style.

With 6 players, we could break it up into 5 parts.

Silverhold - Darian and Isabel
North - PC
South - PC
East - PC
West - PC

However, just knowing how things progress (as written) in the game, certain areas are going to have advantages at different times.

Silverhold - Already being developed, but as other vassal states grow, terrain will become limited to eventually nonexistent.
North - Most area already explored now, limited amount of terrain until eventual westward territory opens up.
South - Current region being explored, limited amount of space until eventual westward territory opens up.
East - Next area to be explored, large amount of territory, but once claimed, will run into expansion problems to west with other Houses lands.
West - Last two parts of the map to be explored, so lots of land eventually. But it’s down the road a good bit.

In order for this to work, the most likely fair thing to do will be each vassal house (mini country) pick a spot well away from Silverhold in a set direction once we explore more, and begin building out from there. Take other players likely expansion needs into consideration as all 5 territories expand, but should disagreement arise over a certain hex, it could make for a realistic RP scene opportunity, heh.

Thoughts? Opinions? How would we split the funds to allow for this to work?

Equally (and drawing on my knowledge of subsequent books) there are some huge land expansions in books 3 and 4, so it might be worth assigning the book 1 map to Silverhold, book 2 to someone else and then split books 3 and 4 between 1 and 2 PC's each time.

So possibly:
Greenwood (Bks1/2): Darian and Isabel
Book 3: 2 more PC's
Book 4: 2 more PC's again.

The mechanics of kingdom building also really don't support divided kingdoms - so that would be something to consider carefully!

I was thinking of something along those lines with one change.

Gender: 1-2=Boy, 3-4=Girl, 5=Roll Twice more on this table. Twins! :D

Also I have a slight issue with our child being 'good' or 'evil' from birth. Unless the GM rules I end up with a curse or something I think alignment should probably come through childhood, once some nurture has taken place too. I think it would be very odd if Darian and Isabel ended up with a LE child just because we rolled some dice and that's what it said.

Hey Everyone,

Now people are back I suggest we blast out a big run of kingdom building. I've played with the map and suggested a pattern hex claiming for the rest of the first year (yellow). That gets us 1 year in and, neatly, to the second stage of kingdom size.

Personally I'd quite like to do two years (or maybe even three) in part because Isabel isn't going to want to go adventuring and leave the little one until he/she/they grows up a bit! If we did two years, then cleared the rest of the map and then did another years expansion we'd probably have most of the Greenwood under our thumbs and be at the third kingdom size (26 hexes plus) for the start of book 3. :)

I've also started putting together a document with a quick summary of what we want to do each turn. I've done the basics (hex and an improvement) and suggested a few possibilities for Silverhold (focusing mostly on improving stability). Let me know what you guys think!

Grabbed numbers off of her spreadsheet for uniformity. Ended up being a total free round on BP, spent 11 and gained 11. But, we got the Sootscale into the fold, as well as have equipped it as a proper mine. Also the Temple of Abadar is built this Turn. And building another farmland (likely in Silverhold hex, as I figure you can only “improve” a hex one time with actual improvements, not counting roads and such) we now have freedom to claim another hex and still be at Net 0 Consumption this coming Turn without further farm building.

It's now been over twenty days since Josef posted anything, his player hasn't posted since Apr 3rd. I believe people wanted someone with martial skills for the party?

I sent a message out to someone, but I’m not sure if they will be interested.

Second note, as to separate PC holdings, I’m thinking the best way we could do this is to just use the Vassalage edict already in place in the Optional Rules for Kingdom Building. When we get to where we can donate a predetermined chunk of BP to another PC to establish their own Vassalage, we do so and let that PC have their own lands to work with.

As a United Kingdom, we would refer to the entirety of it’s size to determine Darian/Isabel’s Titles, and the individual vassalages for everyone else’s. Maybe have the Kingdom Roles remain unchanged, but just that, for example, Baroness Freya of The Narlmarches would also serve as Magister to Silverhold. That would keep things from getting ridiculously clunky with filling Leadership Roles for every vassalage with NPC’s.

If this seems agreeable to you guys, how many BP should we set aside each time we do this to let each PC get their own playground started? 10? 20? It can only be 1/4 of our treasury at any time, so to do 10, we’d have to have 40 in the treasury again before we can do it again for someone.

Unless the DM and everyone else would be fine breaking the treasury up into 1/4’s at one point give each of the four other PC’s (not counting Darian and Isabel) an even chunk at the same time. Then the rest would be on even footing all at the same time.

Hello.

Common message for all the games I was participating in:

I know I vanished without warning. Trust me, it wasn't planned. My wife had a new medical condition flare up, and I've been going to work, doing my job, coming home, doing bothe her chores and mine, taking care of her because she's had extermely limited mobility, taking care of her service animal, covering chunks of time that she had pledged towards watching our grand-daughter, and then still trying to keep up with my existing Scouting obligations.

I was suddenly very busy.

She's been better the last couple of days, so I've built the time to craft this message and distribute it. Today she started having a reaction to the medication that was helping her be better, so that bodes poorly. She also has a procedure tomorrow that is part fo the continuum of care for her problem (as required by insurance companies), but her doctor doesn't think is actually going to address her cause. He said tha's another 3 procedures down the list, but the insurance won't approve him skipping down the list or trying multiple things in quick succession.

I want to apologize to everyone for the impact my real-life has had on your entertainment. You at least deserved to hear from me sooner, honestly.

Now you know why I vanished. And why I don't know if my availability is actually going to get any better in the short term or not.

I have really been enjoying this game, believe it or not, but I am afraid of asking for people to watch and see how much more not posting I'll be doing in the near term, hurting their fun.

I am a registered nurse and have almost 4 years ICU experience + more. So I know how rough things like this are on patients and their whole families.

Fibromialgya, degenerative bone disease, bulging disk, lots of ongoing pain meds. Sciatica onset (pain guy thinks it is caused by pressure from the disk) with none of her current pain meds touching the pain. Lyraca reduced the pain, but after about a week she's started having tremors and inability to focus her eyes. No more Lyraca.

Last procedure was basically a trigger point injection. I honestly don't even know what tomorrow's procedure is, just that it is.

Well I hope things go well. My wife has Sciatica also, but would seem a much milder case. She doesn't require meds or anything. But they told her the same thing about insurances requiring step-by-step protocols on the procedures and tests. It is frustrating.

Hey all, Darian reached out to me this morning, obviously before Josef posted.

I think I've come up with an idea for a character that could be fun, though I want to run it by the GM. I'm curious what you all are looking for in terms of a melee character? I saw one person mentioned slayer but I'm open for other ideas on the build.

That said, I'm also fine if you want to let Josef continue. I could also potentially come in for a somewhat short stint if that might be easier for everyone.

I just had a somewhat absurdly ridiculous but interesting thought:

What if, with the Leadership feat I’ll get via Noble Scion, my cohort was, in fact, Darian’s and Isabel’s child? If enough downtime was spent on Kingdom Building, (granted, it would require a lot) the possibility is there...haha!

But, in realistic terms, I’m still planning on Hound Archon as a cohort. May switch later to something else, but for now, I like the Archon.

On the subject of a new player or continuing with Josef, I don't really have an opinion. While our side quest turned into a solo adventure, he seems to be back now.

On the subject of the treasure list above:

I would definitely be interested in one of the cloaks of resistance. The wand of entangle would seem to be a natural fit as well.

If you're back Josef that's great - no need for a new recruit.

Isabel is fine with loot as proposed. She'll take a cloak if no-one else does, but I got the Ring of Baby-feeding, so I'm not priority if other people want it :)

A question for Darian, you built a castle this month, did you remember to halve the cost of building it? Building on the site of the Stag lords fort gives you that benefit.

Josef, if your back, dive back into the posting. I’m sure you can come up with a reason for being somewhat quiet lately in character. Heh.

Anyone objecting to executing these guys publicly at dawn? They are blatantly guilty, and even have confessed their purpose. Maybe we can get their organizations base of operations from them, but they still are guilty of attempted assassination.
