Something else I wanna run by you guys, Darian would do it in character to get everyone's opinions, but I don't wanna bog down the gameplay thread with something this minor:

The +2 Fey Bane Bastard Sword we found...do you guys think we should keep it or should Darian sell it and use the coinage from the sale to get a different sword? Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome sword, but my concern is that we've already encountered and somewhat befriended a couple of Fey (Tig and Pervilash). They may not like it if one of us is wandering around with a Fey killing blade. Not to mention any other Fey we may meet and try to be Diplomatic with.

I'm cool either way, as we are just as likely to run into evil Fey as good ones. With my current coinage + the sale of the sword, I could get a +2 Adamantine Bastard Sword, which is arguably just as good. Could always pay for an upgrade to it later if we get anyone in the city that can Craft Magic Arms and Armor too.

Up to you - it's a cool weapon, and I don't imagine it would have something as specific as 'fey-bane' if it wouldn't come in useful later on. If you really want adamantine though...

Yeah, also, not every fey is going to have detect magic immediately on hand to even know that you're carrying a fey-killing blade.

With Josef back and Jory out, I think we should either still get us a physical type to give us a bit more diversity on the front line, or go for a Rogue.

Although, as was said before, a Slayer would be best of both worlds in regards to frontline and skills/sneaky/trap disarmery.

So, maybe we DON’T need another Melee Combatant. But if we did recruit someone to fill that role, Darian could refocus his future build to a more archery focused one and continue to support the front line when necessary.

Though, if the others wanna proceed as is and see how things go, I’m fine with that. We could reassign Katrina as the Spymaster. Now would be a fitting time, as she may not be thrilled at the idea of executing these folks, and Darian isn’t comfortable asking someone else to do the deed.

I feel like we do not have someone with a broad range of skills. We have a lot of bases covered, but they are spread among individuals in the group. Having a high-skill character would be good to help with issues like the usual stealth & traps, plus possibly other add-ons like Knowledge (dungeoneering) or Survival or the various physical skills.

Good choices could be:

* Rogue (of many possible types)
* Slayer (for reasons outlined before)
* Ranger (Trapper, Skirmisher, Guide, Sword-Devil...)
* Ninja (weird but could be made to fit)
* Investigator (not a strong class but there are some interesting possibilities like Steel Hound)

Hi All - Got a PM from Isabel/Niko inviting me to consider making up the ranks here. Kingmaker's one of my favourite APs and frustratingly I've never got past the 1st book here on the boards - so would love to join up here. As GM_DBH alluded to I was musing a pitch on the other recruitment thread by my concept never really came together so I gracefully withdrew.

For those that don't know me I'm an experienced player, have a decent presence here on the boards - 12k posts (most of them in games). Enjoy role-playing as much as "roll playing" and have had some great collaborations with Niko in the past.

Outlining group's needs above was a boon - am thinking currently refilling that "wee-folk" gulf that Jory leaves with a Gnome Bard (Archaeologist). Think that might cover the key needs and ties in with the ancient history of the land.

Will get to building something for you all to mull over.

As he said BD and I have played a couple of games together before, always to much amusement (for us at least!). Our big brother/little sister vampires are cutting a swathe through Way of the Wicked right now and having a blast!

I was getting confused over that. I assumed that you'd posted turn 3 because this was the event at the end of turn 3... no worries. We just need to change the turn numbers to 5 and 6.

@Black Dow. Very little information on barges. How large a barge did you want? How many crew?

The rivers in the stolen lands are too deep for poling in a lot of places, so a sail or oars would be required.

A basic barge would start at 200gp and the cost rises for adding a cabin and other parts.

Good point about the rivers depth - might need to go boat of some description.

Doing some research I'm thinking Ship's boat is considered equivalent of a Sampan which looks more the part for a river-scoundrel.

Not looking for anything major - just an alternative way of him getting around (and more in keeping with the River Kingdoms).

Listed cost is 500gp + crew (rowers). No issue with the outlay - especially as its a nice "flavour" piece.

Looks good to me. What about the rowers, just straight NPC's, or connected to your character in some way?

Not sure chief - would like for them to be connected, but I'm also conscious of "clogging" up the game with (essentially) incidental NPCs. My thoughts are 4 (named but nondescript) rowers, and perhaps a single NPC whose Pekk trusts with the boat in his stead.

For situations like this, I like using Teams from the Downtime Rules. They can earn their salary doing work for you behind he scenes, and are really just a one time up front cost for their hiring and equipping. Instead of generating income, I use them as personal RP fodder.

But that’s up to DBH if he wants to allow that.

Earnings gp, Goods, or Labor +2
Create 1 Goods, 1 Influence, 2 Labor (90 gp); Time 0 days
Size 5 people
Upgrades From Laborers
Sailors know how to sail a ship, navigate while at sea, and defend the vessel against pirates and other hostile boarders. A typical sailor is a 2nd-level expert (NPC Codex 260) with 2 ranks each in Acrobatics , Climb , Perception , Profession (sailor), Survival , and Swim .

If you were to use them like I described, you’d pay 90 gp, have 5 Level 2 experts as described, and they’d never earn you any coin, but woukdbasically serve as background RP material.
