Ok, how is this for Tir Rhyddid's Blazon? I don't do art, I cut and paste frantically, and I don't have the resources I used to. I tried to follow the rules for Heraldry (Metals on non metals etc) and used a Rose instead of the bird (Rainbow tails are a nightmare if you want to follow any sense of heraldric rules from what I gather) to show a certain goddess' favor (She is called the Eternal Rose after all). The Tazlewyrm (Sp?) doesn't exist in heraldry, so I altered the hell out of a Wyvern

Hey everyone, I'm back! Recovering well from the pneumonia, but now I have a cold (wah-wah-wah...) Can't catch a break, but could be worse.
Welcome aboard Belka!
A belated thank-you for the welcome. ^^
I hope you'll feel better soon!Belka Blackpaw |
Cloth Design:
Svana: 1
Defiant: 3Just need Belka and Arianna's Votes
If tie then I'll either combine them or roll a die
I vote Defiant. It looks more like actual armour. ^^;

Defiant.
And the heraldry looks great.
Thank you. Tir Rhyddid symbol was more of a challenge, trying to take the idea of (I forget if it was Ari's or not) of having the unicorn drive out the Tazwyrm. Hopefully it's okay with everyone though if it isn't, they're free to try their own take and I won't be offended.
With Bydar's, I just took the official Lebeda designs and added in my own twists. (Chevrons aren't for gasoline companies so much as those who build things and the like in old heraldry).
I don't know much about heraldry, but it has always intrigued me. In a world of magic, symbolism can be a powerful thing
We're a bit of a hippy commune, aren't we...
A bit ;) Should I try to make a flag for the city all in brooding ravens? :)

How about a unicorn with head lowered to a field of roses, with ravens on its back?

I'm not sure that follows the rules of Heraldry but also (And chiefly) I don't have that kind of talent :) Maybe Bydar could use the idea for a sculpture though

Next turn posted.
Bydar, please feel free to begin the Council meeting. Please make sure to welcome Belka (by asking what brings her here, or however you want to phrase it) so she knows it's time for her to begin posting in the Gameplay thread.
I'll chime in with Miles, Lanner, and Happs as needed.
I'm also going to do everything I can to get you an updated map asap.

Ok. Council Meeting started, or pre started a bit to greet Belka ;)
I look forward to seeing the map.
Will we have enough points to make a gold mine proper(6?) as one of our province improvements? Bydar can be swayed otherwise, but he's convinced that the economic boost from that would be an even greater shot in the arm than the silver trade.
I take it the puppies are big enough for Bydar to claim one as per Raxus' offer? :)
Anyone have a preference on which province to claim?
And DM, did you like the heraldry?
DM Haldhin |
Great catch on the "orc" thing, I totally missed that reference when I wrote that. Bonus xp for everyone!
From a pure numbers standpoint, you have plenty of BP to build the gold mine and still have more then enough food to get everyone through winter and spring. And with the farm active this turn, even operating at half-capacity, it's enough to offset your consumption, so that's going to save some BP as well.
Yes, the puppies have thrived under Sara's watchful gaze. She hasn't named them yet...
Yes, I liked the heraldry very much, meant to say so in an earlier post! Very much in keeping with the themes of the group, and Bydar's personal coat of arms is quite appropriate.
Raxus Half-blood |
The puppies are a month old now, and are definitely ready to start being bonded to someone. They aren't quite ready to leave their mother yet though. Probably one more kingdom turn.
Haldhin, do you have any specific informations about the puppies, or should we just describe them however we want?

Nice! thank you.

Good to hear. I'm definitely for the gold mine as a province improvement.
Looks like we may need another house since we have immigrants coming in.

Thanks. I may ask you to copy those and put it in the shared folder if the others are okay with the one for the nation. If they aren't, that's okay. I'm not an artist. :)

Love the Tir Rhyddid blazon, Bydar!
I agree with everyone else's votes regarding Sara's armor - Defiant looks great!
I also think we should get the gold mine going as soon as possible. With respect to the next province to claim, how about Lureglen (and build a road in it as well)? Then next turn we can claim Northroad and finally have a solid connection to Oleg's Trading Post.
We probably need to check on the nest of giant ants in Three Oaks province before too long...

Well, I believe the pattern of the Unicorn driving the Tazztlewyrm out was your idea :)

Glad to have the gold mine seconded. :) And Lureglen sounds ideal for the very reason yo umentioned.

Yup. Those could be a problem.

Okay, so for this turn how about the following actions:
Claim One Province: Lureglen (1 BP)
Build up to Two Province Improvements:
1) Build Road in Lureglen province (1 BP).
2) Develop gold mine in Goldwarren province (6 BP).
Settlement Improvements:
1) Build One House this turn as our residential option (3 BP).
2) (Optional) Bite the bullet and start repairing Riverwatch (8 BP and two months construction to complete the Fort).
For the next turn, suggest we claim Northroad province (1 BP) and build a road in it to Oleg's (1 BP), and possibly develop another farm somewhere (? BP).

I have to wonder if, within a few decades, we won't have a new breed born in part from this stock... "The Rhyddid Mastif" or what have you :)

I was looking for which colors would look good, and could not decide very quickly, I'll be reducing the colors later.
And I had no internet yesterday.

Bydar, yes, absolutely. In fact, if the group just sits around the town without going back out into the lands in order to pacify even more provinces, then people might start talking about you... how leadership is making you fat and lazy, unconcerned with the common folk now that you've got a cushy title. ;)
Sounds good, Raxus.
Bridgette Etna Asta Valerius |
Though the time off the net did give me time to think about things that could be done with the game that could enhance it.
And some would have a big impact and some of the ideas are intertwined.
I'll send the GM a list of the ideas a bit later.
Bridgette Etna Asta Valerius |
While my net was down I thought some of the words of the GM and my fellow players and thought about some interesting possibilities that could really work with the Kingmaker AP,
due to the rapid time flow from each kingdom phase, and making the transition of a kingdom role from one character to the other more realistic (especially the Rulers' role).
Given that about 160 Kingdom phases is about 14,15 years game time.
It is possible to have it that should a character die,
the player can pick one the deceased character's children to become a PC.
Now I know I plan on having Bridgette go on some dates with Soloman sometime soon and a bit after that Propose (or say 'yes' if she was proposed to first).
Then I thought about what would their children be like and built a system for Generating the Result of their union.
I re-iterated the system as I got some results and noticed missing data.
And I did get some interesting results, even with Bridgette and Soloman being stat heavy in the physicals. I did get some Mental Stat heavy children.
The system primarily uses two dice of the same size rolled at the same time, most of the rolls have them Opposing/Negating the other.
So the result is random in most parts, but the stat adjustments do need to be refined by hand as not every stat adjusted set will be perfectly match the point-buy of a PC.
I would like to know the thoughts and feedback from you guys on this train of thought
and would you yay or nay it.
Bydar |
Interesting. Bydar would be delighted if anyone finds true love and marriage, and would offer his religious services for any ceremonies related to that or children (Though he wouldn't be offended if others prefered priests of their own religion).
I'm not sure what our DM's plans are long term, but assuming the 15 years or so DO happen, well, I got a bit confused on the system you're using for offspring generation . I guess I figured any replacement characters in case of death or retirement would be based on the same points as we were when starting.
Bydar's romantic problems are part of his origin, but luck and Shelyn willing, he'll fall in love with a new woman and have his happily ever after yet. If Bydar dies, I'm not sure what class I'd play or even if it would be his offspring that I would bring in (Even if enough time had passed). Since I'm in the healer slot, I'd probably go another cleric or oracle by necessity (If the former, it might be of a different deity just for variety)
Bridgette Etna Asta Valerius |
The system uses the averages of the two parents for the most part,
then shifts results based on the roll of two dice.
Race, if both parents are different races.
Roll 2 dice but assign one as the mother's race the other as the Father's race
i.e
Mother's Race: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Fathers's Race: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Here the Mother's race is selected for the child since it's the highest roll.
Gender is rolled with two dice, using odd even results of each die,
if the (odd/Even) Results are the same is a girl, if they are different, it's a boy.
This method is based on nature, (XX female, XY Male)
i.e.
Gender: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 (Result is Male)
For stats you take the father's and mother's pre-racial, level 1 stats and average them, (round any X.5's down)
i.e.
Soloman's:14,14,14, 11,12,12 (Assumed Stats)
Bridget's:14,14,13, 13,12,12
Average: 14,14,13, 12,12,12
Then you roll the negating dice for each stat
i.e.
Stat Adjust: 1d6 - 1d6 ⇒ (4) - (3) = 1 Here the adjustment is +1
Stat Adjust: 1d6 - 1d6 ⇒ (3) - (5) = -2 Here the adjustment is -2
Stat Adjust: 1d6 - 1d6 ⇒ (1) - (1) = 0 Here the adjustment is 0
The adjustment is the value of the point buy of the stat so if the roll was +1 on a stat of 10, it would become a 11,
If stat was a 13, (+2 to get 14) you'd need to roll again with a positive result bumping the adjust to +2, and a negative result bumping it down.
You do that for all 6 stats, and print the results.
i.e.
Point Adjust: -3,-2 +2,+3,-2,+5
Point Stats: 10,13,14,14,10,15 (20-Point buy result) (if the point buy is off by 3 you fix it by hand if greater than 3, re-roll a random stat)
Final Stats: 10,13,14,16,10,17 (Racials applied)
The Adjust Rolling would also be done for the height, with a base of the Parent's average height.
Bridgette Etna Asta Valerius |
The system still needs a few more things, like Alignment drift from parents alignment.
The persona traits and looks (hair, eye, skin) could have a PC fill out a bit of the PC's background in that they think about the PC's parents in their personality traits, and looks, And might have a trait that skips a generation or was dormant.
Example, Bridgette's mother had red hair and Golden Eyes, some of the results I got from a early prototype version of the "Looks" part of the generator had some of the children getting Red hair and or Golden Eyes, even though Bridgette and Soloman are Blonde, and Blue Eyed.
