@Korinne: good catch - one's never too proactive when Christmas is involved (which reminds me I should hurry up - argh). Sorry, I actually meant to respond to your post sooner but just as you wrote it combat begun and things started to get a little climatic :)

@gmGM: ouch. Sorry to hear that!

Overland Map

Castor, can you confirm what you're doing? It seems like you are using you're domain power on Rufus?

Inactive

@Xelani - Yeah, part of me hates even thinking about Christmas when we've not gotten to Halloween yet, but I'd much rather get shopping done early and not have to rush. It also helps to get started earlier so I can spread the spending out instead of having one or two huge bills due all at once.

And no worries, I just sometimes like to chat in the game discussion thread about random, non-game stuff if people seem amiable to it.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

Ah, sorry, I see how that might have been ambiguous.

In my previous post, I used the domain power on Rufus, granting him the ability to roll twice and take the best roll during his turn.

When he posted his next turn, he didn't make that second roll, so I figured I might as well poke in with said reroll.

Ahhh, the recent upsurge of university work has just ended with my last midterm, and now I have five days off to unwind. Huzzah!

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

Does the roll apply to all d20 rolls I make in a turn? Or just one? Because I don't even know which course I will be following, it entirely depends on Kressle at the moment, although I kind of hope she closes...

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

It applies to all D20s. At higher level, when we'll be making multiple attacks, it will apply to all of them, for example.

Overland Map

Ah ok. Well, you're the only one who hasn't acted so feel free to post when you have a moment :D

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

Yeah. I am going to hold off on my re-rolls until I know which way matters go...

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

I did act, I used my domain power on Rufus.

and Rufus, it's not a reroll, you roll twice at the time you roll.

Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Linky

Ridiculously useful ability, really. Actually could use it on that critical confirmation roll, too...

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

Somehow I'd missed that Rufus had given an attack alternative. I'll leave it to him to do his second rolls.

And yes, it's a great ability.

GMGM, I take it that bandit made his save vs Korinne's spell?

Overland Map

Sorry. I made some mistakes as I was typing this up. I have since rectified the change. Feel free to always call me out on stuff, I can easily miss things >.<

Rufus, I went ahead and rerolled for you're crit confirm, castor's ability does say ANY d20. I hope that was ok with you.

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

Let's see, he just found out (through direct personal experience no less), that Kressle had Favored Enemy: Human & was capable of dishing out over half his HP in one blow...
I'm man enough to admit that could rattle him enough to 'full force' strike her even though he had originally intended to take her alive.
On the bright side, his Challenge is no longer active so his AC is back up.

Overland Map

Well, even with you're crit, you only brought her to negative, not instant kill. So, you can deal with her as you see fit when the fight is over(or next turn, doesn't matter to me :D)

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

True, but at this point, until all the bandits are dealt with, they stay where they fall.

Speaking of which, Castor, unless you have selective Channelling, please just use cure spells until this fight is over. You just stabilized the two I dropped, which I will thank you for once it is over, assuming we survive, but any more & we risk them getting back up to fight us some more.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

No kiddin'... That ability might have just won the day. Great work Away Group!

Sincerely,

1/2 of Oleg's Group

Overland Map

Don't worry about it too much Rufus. Castor specifically said that he moved back away from the group. I assumed he knew what distance his channel was at, and just moved back enough so that it would catch the group and no one else. It might catch the downed bandit but it will miss Kessel. He wouldn't actually need to hit Arawn with the channel since he didn't see arawn get hit. I haven't updated the map so you wouldn't be able to see it. So those guys are still bleeding out :D

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

I have Selective Channeling, though admittedly I forgot to mention using it. I will chalk this one up as a learning experience.

Overland Map

I've updated the Overland map to indicate where the Stag Lord's keep probably is. For future record, I will put markers on the map for areas you have visited. If you have not fully searched a hex(terminology important for Kingmaker really), there will be a red question mark on the Overland map.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

I'll just leave it here - if you want to avoid another debate along the lines of "we're Good characters and we don't kill unarmed prisoners, but we signed up for adventuring, not babysitting", the "take them prisoners" option should now be more viable because of what transpired at Oleg's (I'm not talking to Arawn, whose LN alignment makes his "I'm done with them, dispense justice as you see fit" the perfectly coherent choice for his character ;) ).

In that regard, Kressle's amputated hand might prove an unexpected blessing in very easily handling her.

In any case, should you opt to spare them, I promise they'll only burden Xelani or at the worst Alayi (if she so wishes, of course) ;)

Female Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer Archtype) / 1 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 10/10 | F +1 R +5 W +2 | Init +3 | Perc +0

hmph... a one handed smith? She has the tongue for it though. ;)

Yeah well... admittedly, she'd just be worthless. The other guy perhaps a bit less so.

And she's the one behind all the crimes committed against the Levetons... so yeah. It's up to you. If you want to spare her, I'll try to reform her. If not, say some words and execute her.

HP: 12/12 | AC: 14; T: 13; FF: 11; CMD: 13 | Fort: +2; Ref: +5; Will: +4 | Init: +5 ; Perc: +1 (Darkvision 60') | Hero Points: 3 | Effects: {None}

She flat out stated that she would rather die than give up the life of banditry, and asked for death almost right off the bat. She's given us what we've asked for, so the least we can do is give her a (relatively) clean and painless death.

Female Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer Archtype) / 1 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 10/10 | F +1 R +5 W +2 | Init +3 | Perc +0

(shrugs) My two cents? Bring her back and hang her. It might help smooth things for Oleg and Svetlana, and the guards too... it also makes it so that she dies by the law, not our wills as such. Also serves to show our guests that we are indeed serious about what happens to the unrepentant and unwilling to change.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

Nice idea. It should also serve as a warning to those who were previously spared that we mean business, and that our offer was a one-time one. Plus, as Alayi said, it would make us rise above mere adventurer status, casting us as full representatives of the law. It's mostly a matter of appearances, but who says they don't matter from time to time?

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

There is actually quite a bit that a person can do, one-handed. I will also point out that people have been known to change their minds over time.
Unfortunately, it is going to be longer than I want it to be before I get a gameplay post out because all I have is my phone at the moment. I should have one out this afternoon, I hope.

Female Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer Archtype) / 1 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 10/10 | F +1 R +5 W +2 | Init +3 | Perc +0

Oh, not disputing that... just saying that typcially being a smith is not one of those things unless you knew the trade before hand... and even then it typically would depend greatly on which hand you lost (and if you had helpers to effectively replace that missing hand). I am not saying "kill her, she's useless," I am just pointing out that adding her to my working party band/apprenticeship/whatever we are calling my portion of the rehab through work program would probably not be in her best interests, let alone ours.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

Just to clarify:

- should you wish to spare her (Xelani's good side would agree with Rufus' point; a plea for death after being maimed and defeated would hardly be considered a statement made by a person in full possession of his faculties), I'm more than willing to deal with her, just as Alayi's now dealing with her apprentices. Guess I'll come up with something to do for her.

- should you wish to execute her (Xelani's lawful side would instead side with Arawn; she chose her own destiny and the punishment for her crimes is very clear), doing it publicly might be a good PR stunt.

Those being my 2 proverbial cents. Most of all, I'm willing to follow whatever the group decides on that one. After all, we're the protagonists, not the bandits!

Inactive

Korinne is a lot less conflicted on this one; they were given a chance to surrender so if everyone else is in agreement to execute her (whether right now or back at Oleg's), she won't have a problem with that.

On the other hand, if Kressle has a change of heart before then or someone else has a different plan, Korinne is happy to listen.

On land? I take it you're in the Navy? Or some other long term at-sea job?

Or in the air travel industry?

Something like that [assumes air of the man of mystery] ;)

And I hope you feel better soon Rufus.

Overland Map

Hey look! I have control now. Let me know if you guys want anything else in the general items to display at the top. Eventually, a number of items will go up there but for now, the Overland map will suffice.

Also, in general, just waiting for the "Kessel problem" to be resolved to get things moving along on both ends. There is one more "event" that the adventuring group needs to deal with and then they will be heading back to Oleg's(assuming they don't want to continue to adventure by themselves...). In a perfect world, everything that Xelani and Alayi are dealing with will match for when the group comes back.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

Nice to see it's now official and no longer "clandestine"!

Xelani and Alayi are currently helping Svetlana serving lunch, if there are no more interactions planned I have no qualms about taking the spectator's seat until the away group returns.
