Um, you do realize you have to worship Norgorber to have that trait?

Inner Sea Gods, pg. 222 wrote:

Secret Knowledge (Norgorber): At any point after taking this trait, you may choose one Knowledge skill.

You gain a permanent +2 trait bonus on checks with that skill, and it is a class skill for you. Once this skill is chosen, it cannot be changed.

edit: You pulled it off of D20 PFSRD, didn't you? That's why I don't use them unless it's for something they've fully documented. All the traits from Inner Sea Gods are Religion traits & you have to worship specific Deities for specific traits. D20 PFSRD 'files off' all Golarion specific information so that things are generic for use in other worlds.

second edit: As you just said...

I had not, actually. I picked it off of the SRD, which does not mention that.

If PM requires that I change it, I will.

If you just want a trait that gives you Knowledge (Nobility) as a class skill, you could take Issian Noble, like I did. It gives a +1 trait bonus to Knowledge (Nobility) & Sense Motive and one of those is always considered a class skill.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm loathe to change anything without PM's approval/requirement now that the game has begun.

Speaking of PM, has anyone gotten an update on his vet crisis?

And Arawn, while I understand your loatheness, in this case I would almost say that since you have to change either it or your god (given otherwise the trait is nonapplicable to you) that you should probably do so tentatively and change it back if PM decides to fiat it as "workable as is, written rules be condemned-to-the-pit".

Alas no. He hasn't posted anything under any alias in the last 2 days, apparently. I hope everything's well with him and his pets.

Regarding the trait conundrum, if I remember correctly at one point during recruitment he stated he was okay with reskinning things to better suit a character's flavor. Perhaps he will let you keep the bonus to Knowledge (nobility) while renaming the trait to something more thematically fitting.

Been 72 hours since PM last posted. He did day his schedule was erratic as hell...

Hopefully all is well and he returns soon.

So, talk in the first table discussion has turned to how long is appropriate to wait for PM to return. It's now been 4 days since he's been seen...

Should he not return soon, two of the players over there have offered to GM our table, and in return I've volunteered to run theirs. The question becomes, then, how long do we wait?

Obviously, the best scenario is for PM to return. But at what point do we move on? Tuesday (1 week from his last post) seems like a good break point. Any thoughts?

Inactive

I'm happy to give PM until Tuesday before we start looking at replacing him. Normally I'd be game to wait longer but the longer we wait the more likely it is for the rest of the players to lose interest, especially since there are still active recruitment threads for Kingmaker happening right now.

Personally would prefer giving him a bit longer, but if we have a general consensus for Tuesday I won't drop out over it. I would prefer giving him to Thursday or so at a minimum (so you have an idea of what I mean by "a bit longer") but that is me.

Inactive

Thursday works for me too; I'm willing to go with what the majority wants on this one.

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be here either when he comes back or we decide to try out one of the two who volunteered.

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

My sentiments closely resemble Rufus' on this issue. I'm not going anywhere (at least in the immediate future), and the positive gut feelings I'm getting from this group make me more than willing to wait as long as needed for the game to resume. Out of respect for GM PM and whatever RL issues he might be facing, I'd go with the Emerald Duke in considering Thursday a fair deadline before we consider switching GM. Obviously, I'll eventually follow whatever decision the majority is taking.

Also, kudos to you, Arawn, and to Karsh and Ansha for volunteering to take up the GM's mantle. It's nice to know that, thanks to you guys, we're going to hit the ground running whatever the outcome.

I would second the kudos. I've tried three times to GM a PbP on the boards. I haven't been successful yet.

I've run a few. Even started a Kingmaker game that died when the most active member of the party started a new job and suddenly couldn't post anymore...

Inactive

Yes, very appreciative that people are willing to step up and take over if it becomes necessary! I think I misspoke earlier, I'm not planning on going anywhere either and I wasn't trying to imply that everyone else would, just stating that it seemed a possibility based on previous PbPs that went down a similar road.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

I'm not planning to go anywhere either, and I agree that we should give our DM a bit longer before we start looking for a replacement.

Big props to our voluntary replacement DMs.

Pretty fine actually. I've spent most of the weekend wandering through a large eno-gastronomical festival my hometown hosts once a year in the company of a bunch of friends, some of whom came back from abroad especially for the occasion. If I had to summarize it, it would be on the lines of drink some wine - have a snack - go for a stroll - repeat, all the while having a pretty pleasant time chatting and meeting people.

So yeah, life's good!

The 'weekend' is actually my work week, or at least the start of it. Friday night/Saturday morning is effectively my Monday & where I work, there is a high percentage of...
We'll just call them 'high maintenance personalities' and leave it at that.
The most amusing part of my weekend was likely explaining to my coworkers, almost all of whom are approximately half my age, that walking to pick up our order from Chipotle's down the street was preferable to me because it nearly the only regular exercise I got all week. Now if I could just get one of them to warn me before she hugs me.*

*don't ask me why I've gotten leary of physical contact with people I don't know well, because I don't know.

Sounds like you work in retail...or customer service...

You have my sympathies, if that's the case.

I worked Saturday, and a much earlier shift than my usual one. Suddenly having to wake up four hours earlier than my body is used to is not pleasant. Oh well. Yesterday I spent vegging with my wife on the couch, instead of packing the apartment up for the move we have in two weeks. Nice and relaxing.

Yes.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

I've not been doing too much. Worked on some assignments for university, bought some of the new Magic the Gathering set, and played Hyrule Warriors a lot.

Quiet weekend at home, basically.

Had to work the weekend. Got to love my job, but it pays the bills.

Mixed bag here; coworker's father passed away Saturday morning and a different coworker called in sick for that night so I ended up working a night shift that I hadn't planned on. On a brighter note, yesterday was our day to play our tabletop game of Rise of the Runelords so that was fun at least.

Done that before. Never fun.

And my condolences to your coworker.

Just signed up for my health insurance, since it kicks in on Wednesday. Had a bit of sticker shock ($100 a week), but the $800 deductible is just too good to pass up, and my wife and I need it. She wears contacts with a seriously high power (and she's on her last pair), we both need to see a chiropractor, and we're trying to have kids, so...yeah.

So...it's Thursday...

What's the plan regarding Pungeon Master?

I've lurked into the other group's discussion thread, and I've noticed how some of them were in favor of setting a deadline similar to ours, while others are willing to wait it out almost indefinitely.

As much as I share their sentiment (and I'd certainly loathe the idea of Pungeon Master returning only to find his campaigns has been "robbed" from him), I'm afraid we can't pretend not to see how, from a pettily statistical point of view, chances of a GM taking back the reins of a campaign after almost 10 days of complete silence are... well, dim.

Really, just a quick perusing through the always-growing campaign graveyard would probably show this up as the most common epilogue of failed PBPs.

I'm also quite loath to let the opportunity to play with what looks like a very strong and experienced group go to waste. Arawn, you have already gotten in touch with the other group; perhaps it's time to see if we can put that GM-swapping plan into motion?

Inactive

I'm in favor of getting the GM-swap in motion if everyone else is. In agreement with Xelani that I hate to just move on without the original GM but at the same time I don't think it's fair to expect players to wait indefinitely unless they're all in agreement on doing so.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

I agree with pretty much everything above.

Overland Map

Hey guys,

This is the GM Alias for Karsh Shieldborn, player in table #1. I talked with the other potential GM there and they are ok with me offering my services here.

I've been GMing for roughly 14ish years but this is my first time really getting into Pathfinder PbP. I believe I'm up to the task. However, we can work under a "The job's yours until you die or we find someone better", so if the group doesn't like my style, I have no qualms with backing out. I am on EST and intend to keep to a 1-2 post a day, and 1 post a weekend usually. These are ideals of course and real life can happen. I do not expect you guys to change you're posting rate, what PM set is fine by me.

Fighting will generally be a "You guys go, they go kind of thing", seems faster in my experience. I will try to keep everyone moving though if there is too much lag, I'll start implementing requirements.

I've read through the AP a couple of times and I've been getting myself familiar with what you guys have been discussing. So, to help out, you can find a map of Oleg's at the table one(this will do until I can get access to the thread from the forum staff). Link can be found HERE. If you could, please formulate a plan fairly soon(let's put a date at Friday night). As to rules questions, I abide by anything that PM set. Arawen, if you want to change the talent, you can but I will not require it at this time.

Let me know if I missed anything.

Daily Abilities:
Laughing Touch 8/8 | Panache 7/7 | Spells: 1st 5/5

I have no objections to anything stated. We had gotten a bit ahead of ourselves in the IC thread, and were waiting on reactions from Oleg and Svetlana before continuing. Also, there was some confusion as to where we were holding this conversation...

I look forward to getting this going again. :)

Welcome Karsh aka GunMetal GM. Very nice of you to offer to pick up our campaign. I'll have my post up in the gameplay thread soon.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

Welcome! Thanks for picking up the game, and I look forward to gaming with you.

So of course when I go 'radio silent' for a while is when matters pick up again...
Welcome to the party.

One question; The information in your post deviates in a couple points from the information given to us previously; should we simply consider that the previous information didn't happen, or is that intentional?

Overland Map

Ah, missed PM giving you guys that information. It's basically the same information. PM's mentioning of a women that lead the first group stands. I think everything else is the same.

I will be moving the game forward to the arrival of the bandits sometime tonight(probably in a few hours). Right now, I have been a bit confused on the exact "plan" but from what I can tell you guys are going to try to ambush the bandits on their arrival. From what I can gather, the current idea is to have everyone in hiding. The gate will be open to allow the bandits inside but then you guys will spring your trap. If that is not the case, please let me know fairly shortly. I know, PbP isn't the greatest thing for speed so I'm trying to give leeway here.

Male Human (Kellid/Varisian) Cavalier (Standard Bearer)/Skald 4/1 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 15 T: 12 FF: 14 | F: +7 R: +2 W: +3/+4 | Init: +1 Perc: -1 | Effects: Raging Song (Inspired Rage)]

Rufus has yet to comment on the plan. I need to review all the posts but I will try to post tonight. Will be working on that now in fact.

I was waiting for Korrine to mention that she has the same spell. If we both use it at the same time, we can cover that entire spread between the stables and guest house. Cache them all while they're forced to be in tight quarters.

Otherwise, the plan is for Arawn to Color Spray them through the gate while they're outside it, which may not catch all of them...

Female Ifrit Bard (Dervish Dancer Archtype) / 1 | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | HP 10/10 | F +1 R +5 W +2 | Init +3 | Perc +0

Alayi intends to set fire to their way out first, both to distract them from the spell and keep them penned if any have high enough wills to make the save. Also might make their surrender a bit more likely if they think their other alternative is to be burned alive.

Male Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger(Guide) 1

Castor is content letting the others plan, and will support in combat as needed.

Dual Color Sprays sounds like a plan to me; I'm guessing best case scenario is that we knock all/most of them down with that and tie them up?

That's the idea, yeah.

Hopefully I'm not the only one who worries that Alayi's plan might lead to the entire place burning down around our ears. Still a good idea to block their exit, though. I'll make a post here in a few with a plan...

Female Half-elf Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter) | HP 15/15 {effects: none} | AC 17 (Tch 12 FF 15) | F +7, R +6, W +7 (+2 vs. Ench.) | Init +2 | Perc +5, low-light vision

Is the grass surrounding the tradepost wet or dry? If the soil is still frozen, chances of starting an actual fire should be dim - provided we keep the flames far enough from what I suppose is a wooden gate

Xelani is in agreement with Arawn and Korinne casting color spray on the bandits as they're funneled into the courtyard. She would take place upon the battlements near the entrance, staying carefully hidden behind them so as not to be spotted by incoming enemies and ready to spring into action should anything go wrong (I'm planning to take a malus on my attack rolls in order to deal non-lethal damage).

Overland Map

Sorry for the delay. Went to sleep and haven't woken up till now. As Arawn mentioned, the gate is wood so no heat metal or anything of the like.

Heh... don't sweat it. Give this campaign a couple of months and we will all have a couple of redundant aliases dotting the character page. It's a long term statistical inevitability ;)

Waiting for GunMetal GM to roll the saving throws to see if there's something useful I could do (also, ranged weapons can't deal non-lethal damage, which really kind of makes sense, meaning I'll just have to use my dagger instead).
