ready and action to attack the spider when it tries to attack.

The Little Game Master |

Spider (8 dmg): leaves trap, bites: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Gird's armor for no damage, then moves back to the trap door.
Mamise: Dagger attack on spider. Miss.
Gird: Sword attack. Miss.
Derra: Readied attack
Gage (5/9 HP): Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 (success!). Readied alchemists' fire flask 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 1d6 ⇒ 3. Failed prehensile whip attempt.
Andreas: Opens trap door. Keeps it open.
Gird's retaliatory sword-swing as well as Mamise's dagger both miss their mark; meanwhile Derra prepares to strike the beast as if/when it attempts to attack. Gage's whip prowess, while impressive, could not find the leverage to open the trap door, so Andreas did it the old fashioned way, as he stuck his sword into the opening, he found the door was quite light and he is easily able to prop it open. Unfortunately, he cannot see inside.
It is dark inside the spider's hole. Darkvision folks are the only ones who can see in unless Gage moves his lights. I'll post the spider's actions/beginning of Round 3 shortly.

The Little Game Master |

Spider (8 dmg): comes up, bites: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Andreas with no effect, then moves back down.
Mamise:
Gird: .
Derra: attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 misses
Gage (5/9 HP):
Andreas: keeping trap door open.
The spider leaps out of the darkness to bite Andreas, but even though he can't move, his armor is too much for the arachnid.
Party up

Gird will move his sword to his off hand to just hold it... and draw and throw a dart down at the spider

Mamise Iwani |

Confident that the spider is being taken care of by those brawnier than her, Mamise takes a handful of medicinal leaves and tries to get some of the poison off of Gage's wound.
Heal (treat poison): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

The Little Game Master |

Gage has already recovered from his poison, Mamise, if you wanted to do something else, feel free to ret-con.

Mamise Iwani |

I'm not too useful right now, so I'll just ready an attack in case it gets towards us.
Drawing her sickle, Mamise stands ready to defend herself.
Eventual attack: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Mamise Iwani |

Botting Gage.
Moving his hand towards the trapdoor, Gage sends his dancing lights towards the darkness.
And keeping up that inspire courage from earlier.

The Little Game Master |

Spider (8 dmg): comes up, bites: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Andreas with no effect, then moves back down.
Mamise: readies sickle hit for 1
Gird: readies dart miss
Derra: attacks: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 misses
Gage (5/9 HP): light and inspiration
Andreas: keeping trap door open, readies hit for ten.
After the spider goes back down, Mamise prepares her sickle alongside Gird with his dart, and Derra's and Andreas' swords. Gage helps in the preparation by moving his lights over the trap opening. Inside they can see a hole lined with thick webs, and at the edge of the light they see the gruesome arachnid pouncing out to attack Andreas, but the knight and Mamise cut the creature down as it approaches.
End combat

Gird looks down the hole and sheathes his sword
"Nah.. I can see down there just fine.. seems to be webs.. maybe someone go down and look?"

Gage G |

"I'd sooner anger Mamise than enter that first.
Maybe we can just throw some rocks down?"
One of Gage's four orbs of light descends a few feet into the hole.

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
After a few seconds of waiting as the rocks are thrown down the hole.
If nothing happens...
I will go first.
Andreas turns and looks for some rope.
Tie me off to the wagon and start to lower me down please.
He places his shield on the ground along with his sword. Standing up again he pulls forth a dagger. Stretching out his shoulders he looks at the others.
I am ready when you are. If you can place that light well in front of me as I am lowered, that would be most appreciated.
He looks at the dagger and bag at his sword
It will be too cramped in there to use a large weapon.

"I suppose that's brave and all and I admire that, but I have darkvision and can see in that environment and I use a short sword. I'm better suited.. for next time your all set at the moment and I can't see any danger so go for it."
Gird helps lower him down

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Andreas looks at Gird with respect and understanding
I am sorry as I am not certain how to explain myself that it will not sound dry and militaristic..I am a logical choice. You may be able to see in the dark and use the short blade but you are also able to cast healing spells and therefor are needed. I know that you are more than capable of handling yourself....you have proven that on more than one occasion. If we lost you it would be a devastating blow.
He gives a slight smile as they lower andreas down the hole, he looks back up at Gird.
It is not bravery at all...I am nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

![]() |

"We'll maybe flip for it.. " he says with a smile and tries to hold the rope steady.

The Little Game Master |

As Andreas descends about ten yards and reaches the bottom of the shaft, he finds the bodies of unfortunate souls including a sole bandit that the spider hadn't even wrapped yet. He's still dressed in leather armor, with a short sword and a coin pouch on his hip, and a Stag Lord amulet around his neck.

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
The moment Andreas' feet hit the ground his eyes dart from side to side and up and down. He cuts his way around the lair with his dagger. After a tense few seconds he concludes that there was only the one spider. He looks up the shaft and speaks loud enough for the others to hear him.
I am at the bottom, there are no threats down here. I did find a body that the spider must have just attacked as it is not even wrapped up in webs yet.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
He is dressed in leather armor, with a short sword and a coin pouch on his hip, and...yep he is a bandit working for the Stag Lord. There is a amulet around his neck.
Heal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
He might still be alive, I doubt it but if he is we might be able to get some information from him. I think we should bring him up, what do you think?

Gage G |

"Well, if you want to tie him to the ropes we lowered you on, then we can pull him up.
Here, have some light."
Gage sends his orbs of light down the pit, and they stop descending to form a cluster just a couple feat above Andreas' head.

The Little Game Master |

Even in the dark and dust, Andreas can tell that the bandit's dead.
Everyone can make the perc check

Mamise Iwani |

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Mamise glares at Gage's first remark. "Well, if he's dead all the better, just grab the valuables and we don't even need to dig a grave. We can just dump the spider and some dirt over his body"

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
As Andreas is finishing with placing the rope around the bandit.
He listens as Mamise makes her point of the dead body. His voice is soft but it can be heard. His tone is of respect and understanding.
I respect and understand your point. If you are ferocious in battle, remember to be magnanimous in victory. This man made some very poor choices but he still was someones son. He may be our enemy but even he does not deserve to rot down here like this. I will dig a grave for him and then we can be on our way.
When the rope comes back down he ties himself up and climbs back out of the hole.

Mamise Iwani |

"As you wish, just looked like a waste of a perfectly good hole in the ground. I'll just push Gage into it next time he acts like an idiot."

The Little Game Master |

Gage Perc: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Derra perc: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Among the remains, Derra finds a scrap of paper with a drawing of a claw-shaped dead tree atop an otherwise barren hill with an x scrawled in blood by the tree's roots.
I'm not sure what happened, but the route that Andreas put on the map before is no longer up there. Would you mind replacing it? Thanks.

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Taking the armor off of the bandit and places it in the wagon, he then looks at the short sword to see if it is serviceable. He also places that in the wagon and finally he opens up the coin pouch, dumping out the contents. As he tarts to count the coins, he takes the stags head amulet and tosses it to Gird.
What do you make of that....A symbol of status or a something to show your allegiance to the stag lord?
Andreas starts to dig a very shallows grave for the bandit. Mostly rocks piled on top of him. He tries to be as quick as he can but when he finishes his task, he says a few words.
May Pharasma take you..

Gird examines the Stag Lord amulet checking what it is made of and it's quality

The Little Game Master |

If somebody will put a route on the map, I can move us forward. 80xp apiece for downing the spider, btw.

Mamise Iwani |

After recovering the dagger she had thrown and cranking it back into her wrist sheath, Mamise stretches and yawns. "Are we done? Should we move?"

Gird is able to set up camp in a way that avoids all natural hazards including exposure, and predicts that the weather will be clear for the next 24 hours.
Who's taking watch when/for how long?

Mamise Iwani |

"Yes, yes, camping, I wholeheartedly agree. Mind if I take last watch? I'm sleepy. Ah, Gage, c'mere, let me see that bite. Cura levia vulnera!"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Back at full health!

Gage G |

Gage sags slightly with relief after Mamise's spell
"Ah, that hits the spot. thanks Mamise.
I feel so much better; I'll take first watch."

The Little Game Master |

Do we only need three watches? No one needs a full 8 hours? Or are we taking >2hr watches?

Gage G |

good point. Gird! I choose you! Use volunteer-for-the-other-middle-watch! xD

![]() |

"Middle watch it is.. I need a good rest.. but I should be able to get that in bits."
Gird will sleep blissfully til his time

The Little Game Master |

Just as everyone decides to turn in, Gage sees a man coming from the north, he's wearing full plate armor and carries a shield with a sword-symbol on it, he also appears to have a javelin slung on his back with his backpack. He waves at Gage, "Hail traveler, might I sleep alongside you? I've just wrapped up a mission for the Order of Celestial Knights, and I don't think I'll be able to make it back to Restov before nightfall." He chuckles at his own joke, being as it's been night for some time.

Gage G |

Gage waves back at the approaching knight.
"Well, it might be a tight fit," Gage smirks and indicates the surrounding open space, "but I'm sure we can find room for a servant of the Lady of Valor."
Gage's hand finds his chin as he continues.
"I hope you don't mind my curiosity, but does your order often send out knights alone?"

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Andreas walks up to Gird.
If you should need more sleep, I do not mind taking part or all of your watch. I can make up the sleep in the wagon while we travel.
Hearing Gage invite a total stranger into the camp puts Andreas on his guard. He sighs inward and turns to look at this stranger.
Strange that this man is walking around alone....Let's hear his story.
Andreas steps away from Gird to allow him room to do what may be needed if this meeting should turn to combat. His shield is next to his saddle and other gear. His sword is still in its scabbard around his waist. Andreas keeps his hands away from the weapon but close enough that he can draw it if it is needed.

As he listens to Gage makes his inquiry....
Yes, please join us and tells us your story good sir.

The Little Game Master |

The knight chuckles at Gage's question,
"I don't blame you for being cautious, I am a scout of sorts, my name is Sir Zephaniah, people call me Zeph. We were told there was a minor undead threat nearby. So minor, in fact, that rather than send a scout to assess the situation, I decided to go myself as if it was what we were told, I could likely handle it myself. Turns out it was bad intel. I'd be happy to take a watch if you like, if any of you would rather sleep."
Once the group is satisfied with the knight's story and reasoning, and the watch is finalised, he removes his armor, so he can get a good night's rest (unless he takes first watch).

Mamise Iwani |

Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Mamise's eyes shoot up as the knight approaches, and she listens intently.
"Ew, undead. They are yucky. Are you sure that you can manage it alone? You know what they say, pride goeth..."

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
After listening to the man and watching as the others inquire of his motives. It becomes clear that he is who he says he is.
Andreas extends his hand to the knight.
Sir Zephaniah, We would be bad hosts if we made our guest work while under our hospitality. I do appreciate the offer but I think we can handle it for this night. Where will your travels take you in the morning?

The Little Game Master |

Before turning in, the knight explains that it'll be the day's hike back to Oleg's, then he'll rent a horse to get back to Restov where he'll deliver the intel and likely have new orders waiting for him.
I'm on my phone, the next part will be easier for me on the computer. Give me til about 1300 EDT.

The night goes by quite peacefully until everyone is awakened by a screech from Mamise during her watch! She has apparently seen something in the distance to the east that frightened her.
