Mamise Iwani |

Mamise moves behind the knights. "What in bloody- Is the ground itself moving against us now? Oh, I'll stay behind you all right!"
What knowledge to roll?

The Little Game Master |

Mamise is actually quite familiar with shambling mounds; in fact, there's very little she doesn't know.
Mamise knows everything in the link. I've rolled HP, so you only have a general idea of that.

Mamise Iwani |

"Ohmmm, guys, perhaps we'd better do like a tree and leave. This thing's a plant, slow, but it packs a punch, and fire won't hurt it either!"

![]() |

I agree with you, it looks a bit like too much for us at the moment."
Gird uses studied target on the shambling mound while getting ready to jump on his horse

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Andreas grabs his shield and weapon as he steps up beside the knight.
AC 14 dex and shield only, no armor
I agree that we should leave but this thing will continue onto someone else if we do not take it out now. The horses are not hitched up to the wagon and I do not think we would last long out here in the wilderness without equipment and supplies. If it is slow than you can harass it from a distance. Let us keep it chasing us as you hit it from range. Gage, maybe your balls of light will keep it occupied for a bit. If you do not wish to fight it, then I will keep it busy while you get our gear and move out.

Gage G |

"Orbs? I can do better than that!
Didn't I get around to showing this off...?"
Gage steps up past Mamise and casts his cantrip once more.
A glowing vaguely humanoid figure appears near to the shambling mound.
"Um, these kinds of beasts chase after bright objects, right?"
Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
"Oh, I see it better now, I thought shambling mound sounded familiar..."
MA -> 15 feet closer (through difficult terrain?)
SA -> Dancing light (of the single glowing humanoid variety)

The Little Game Master |

Gage knows everything in the above link as well. Wow, you guys must've studied shambling mounds before...which means Gage would know that shambling mounds, as plant creatures, are immune to phantasms and such. Feel free to retcon, Gage. Derra is up.

Gage G |

Na, he cast the spell before thinking about it, but thanks xD
His spell only lasts a minute and we need the light anyway xD
Also it's an actual glowing person-shaped-thing (being a cantrip of the evocation variety ...whatever that's worth, I'm guessing not much lol)

The mound shambles ever closer, undeterred by the stirring of its prey. Zeph quickly and expertly dawns his full plate armor, preparing for the coming attack. "Behind me, mage, you may not survive a hit from this beast."

Gage G |

"I... good idea!" Gage moves around behind Zeph and Andreas as his 'dancing light' follows the beast.
"Also, before I forget, don't bother burning or electrifying it.
Oh, and don't let the greenery fool you, it has thick bark that can deflect poorly aimed steel."
Gage then starts singing a battle hymn.
MA-> move back
SA -> start performing "Inspire Courage" (+1 to attack and damage)

Mamise Iwani |

I still think it's a pretty bad idea... I've got nothing that can help.
"When we get back, someone remind me to take a crossbow!"

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
He looks over at the knight as he is putting on his armor.
I think you are out of time. We need to start hitting that thing from a distance.
he looks around at the others
I do not see any other way...well other than fleeing. Split up and start to attack with bows. Keep your distance and with a little luck we can keep it chasing one of us while the others hit it.
Andreas starts to move off towards the south....

Gage moves and begins to inspire his friends with his artistic skill to Zeph's great pleasure, as Gird calls upon his deity to help him in the fight. Mamise clears a path, while Derra acts defensively. Andreas offers strategic insight, and Zeph answers, "Good thoughts, but the first rule of tactics: know your assets," the knight finishes dawning his armor just as the creature comes down on him with both vegetal arms: one misses entirely, while the other surely would've done him harm if not for the large rock between him and the creature.
With the creature's arms down, Zeph takes the opportunity to strafe beside the rock, batting away with his shield an attempt by the monster to trip him up; from his new vantage, he strikes twice: once directly in the heart of the creature, and a second slashes deep into its right limb. The creature cries out in inhuman pain.
"Ha!" Zeph laughs, "two more attacks like that, and you're finished, beast!"
Party up!

It would still be a miss, but remember you have inspire courage as well. Ps: I'm going to be out of town til Saturday, then I'm working Sunday, Monday. I should be able to post, but it's not a guarantee until Tuesday.

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Seeing that his tactics to draw the creatures attention away from the party has failed he turns to see it attacking the knight. He quickly turns himself around and moves towards the creature. Moving in a around about way to get to advantageous position with the knight across from him.

Gage thinks quickly, calling grease to form beneath the mound, but it seems at home in the oily slick. As Gird fires a futile arrow into thick of the mound, Andreas sprints around to its other end to come at it from two sides, and Mamise tries to act as a decoy with light and taunting. Derra simultaneously charges lance first at the mound, but again, the natural vegetation proves too much for such the heroes' weapons. In its rage, the mound slams down on Zeph with both upper appendages. The knight is able to bat one away with his shield, but the other makes contact, causing him to cry, "Iomedae's blade, that smarts!" He retaliates with a slash and lunge from his sword, each taking a piece of the creature with it, "Take that! One more of those, ad you're through!"
Party up!

Gage G |

Gage circles around, wary of the long arms of the mound.
"What ever happened to 'the bigger they are, the harder they fall'? You should be more down to earth!"
Gage aims for the creature's feet with his whip, trying to trip it.

Gage tries to trip the massive creature, but it is far too rooted to the ground. Gird's next arrow finds its mark causing the creature to moan in pain; the moan sforzandos as Andreas drives home a sword attack, severing a limb. The mound shambles as fast as it can with three limbs back into the tree line.
End Combat
Sorry for the delay, there's a lot to cover...
As you breathe a sigh of relief and Zeph claps Andreas a little too sharply on the back, you notice a gleam in the creatures severed limb. Upon further inspection you find what was probably all that is left of an unfortunate traveler: 21 gp, 7 sp, and a scroll with a gray-runed seal.
In the morning, after you've all rested, Zeph thanks you for your hospitality and "a really great night! If you all need anything in the future, just say a prayer to Iomedae! Haha! I'll be a long way off, but one of our order is always in communion with the Shining Blade, and if its bad enough, she may send one of us!" As he set off to the northeast for the long trek north, you all pack your horses and head southwest.
The plains die away into a rocky area, and in the distance the crag rises like a stone wave.

Gage G |

"Huh? What crack? You mean near that overgrown pile of weeds?"
Gage squints into the distance.
"That's not a shadow, is it...? Anyone up for some spelunking?"

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Andreas looks in the direction of the crag.

Having trouble seeing what it is they are talking about, he moves his horse closer.
where is this cave you speak of.
Once Gage points it out, Andreas dismounts and draw his weapon. He then turns to the others.
We are here to explore, so let's see what is in there. I will take point, Gird, I could use your eyes as a backup. Lets light a torch and see what we have here. Derra cover Gird and the rest follow up. Sound good..Unless you want to take point Gird? You have better sight than me.

![]() |

With Sir Andreas by his side Gird shall proceed forward to the crack and presumably cave.
"Yes your probably right I should take point, my weapon, sight and skills make me the best for this."
Gird draws his shortsword and steps in once everyone is ready.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Mamise Iwani |

Mamise, slightly green from the ride, pouts. "You are no fun sometimes, you know that? Bof. Want a light?"
The foxfolk, moving towards Gird, readies to cast a spell.
Let's say I discharged my CLW on the travelling paladin. Also I'll read magic on the scroll to identify it.

Gage G |

After the animals are tied up,
Gage readies his whip and some 'dancing lights'
"I'm ready whenever you guys are."

![]() |

"I have darkvision so I need no light, but Sir Andreas might."

The Little Game Master |

Mamise reads the scroll, uninterested in the spelunking escapade, and discovers it to be a scroll of Corrosive Touch.
As Gird descends, he finds the tunnel lets out into a very large cave. The drips of moisture, stalactites and stalagmites set the scene of an otherwise uneventful find until Gage's lights reveal a glitter on the opposite wall of the cave.

![]() |

"No idea, some sort of mineral, but I'm no miner. Maybe we should ask if anyone else knows? "
Gird will head out and say to the others
" Does anyone know anything about minerals as we have found a deposit in the cave, we just don't know if it's valuable or not."

Gage G |

"If the stories I've heard are anything to go by, then there's three to one odds that it's some sort of trap."
"I'll take a look!" Gage adds cheerfully.
He makes his way down to where the glittering wall is.
I can try both checks, right?

"Even though I see it for myself now, my opinion is the same: probably dangerous..."
Gage looks around in the cavern light by his orbs.
"Is Mamise coming down yet? She might be more dangerous than this stuff, she should have a look."

Sir Andreas der Eisfalke |
Andreas call for some aid.
Mamise, Derra...would you join us in here. We have found something that may be of some use to us.

As derra enters the cave she walks over to the group and looks at the wall.
I am not sure but if someone has a knife or dagger to pry some out of the wall. It looks like a vein of some material but I am not sure waht. Lord Gage would you be so kind as to give us some more light..right here. She points to a rather large vein.
Appraise: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 2 = 22
Mamise speaks up real quick as she enters the cave.
You guys can not tell what that is. That ladies and gentlemen is gold.

Mamise Iwani |

I'm here, was just checking outside.
"Yeah, looks like a mineral vein. As long as it's not fool's gold..."
Reaching with the tip of her dagger, she prods at the shiny parts of the rocks. Her eyes gleam as the steel marks the metal.
"Wow, it's the real thing. Oh, you learn not to be duped when you're a foxfolk, and you learn to cherish gold when you lack it. We should definitely mark this location and hire some dwarves when we can."

![]() |

At Mamises words Gird grows a huge smile
"Wow.. just as well you were here or we'd have missed this, Gird makes sure to mark it on the map."

Gage G |

"Gold, huh? More dangerous than I feared.
Let's not lose any!" Gage adds cheerfully.
"Shall we continue up where there's a bit more sun?"
