Servayn Krolz |
While we are on the topic of Servayn's gear, does he have a +1 chain shirt and a +1 mithril chain shirt? Or did he sell the one to get the other?
Kriger has the folding boat, Servayn has the feather token (boat). I just brain-farted and wrote the wrong one on my sheet! Good catch! Fixing that now...
Servayn has a +1 mithril shirt, which was, I think, Kriger's old shirt when he traded up. He was wearing leather armor before that, and I didn't really think of selling it. :)

If some of you feel they got a lot less, you should make a claim for more cash.Because of the wands, which nobody else could use anyway, I think Servayn has a more than fair share of loot. (Way over WBL!)
I added a couple points to his UMD skill this level so that he has an 80% chance (which will go up to 90% after the first successful use), and should be able to avoid mishaps entirely (since he can't 'fail by 10'). He can still roll a 1 and make the wand un-usable for a day, but that's not as dire as hitting another party member with a lightning bolt, or blasting himself in the face!
depending on the wands a few of us might be able to sue the, it depends. I think if someone has a high Cha and skill in UMD they could have the ones none of us can activate.

Oh, certainly. I'm not claiming an exclusive on the wands, Servayn's just the only one that has both a decent Charisma score and ranks in UMD (and UMD as a class skill), making him the logical resting place for loot-nobody-can-use (but-might-be-useful). If someone else wants them, Servayn won't be putting up a fight or anything. :)

Right now we are looking at a reasonably wide spread in wealth, with Kriger at the high end and Servayn at the low end, roughly 17K vs. 28K.
Can everyone check their character sheets to see if they have items they want to return to party loot to be sold off? Davor, do you still have two suits of armor (extra +1 chain)? Kriger, do you have two greataxes (1 +1 and 1 +1 flaming)? And two composite longbows? Anything else?
Right now to share we have:
10,000 gp, cash.
+1 spellstoring longspear, selling for 4,152.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Akiros), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Kalsgrim), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 scale armor (from Kalsgrim), selling for 600 gp.
Knowing that Janku and Servayn are trailing the others a bit in gear value, does everyone want to 1) live with it, 2) give them more cash now to help balance or 3) steer more items (particularly protective items) to them as we go forward?
Javell DeLeon |
Oops. Yeah, I forgot about the other +1 Greataxe.
So we can donate my +1 Greataxe to the pile. And also Dovan's bow. I'll keep Vek's. It's Mwk.
So go ahead and mark those two in our collective sell pile, DW. That way I can erase them.
And I realize the Folding Boat is 7200g, but that shouldn't be counted. That really is for the entire party. At least that's the way I see it. I'm just carrying it. The only thing he's gonna use if for is to get everybody across a body of water when necessary. That's all it's really good for. Kind of a pricey item too, if you ask me. Heck, all it does is turn into a boat. A BIG boat mind you, but just a boat.
Having said that, I got no problem with option 2 or 3. It's all good to me.

Updated list of treasure to share:
10,000 gp, cash.
+1 spellstoring longspear (from troll loot), selling for 4,152.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Akiros), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Kalsgrim), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 scale armor (from Kalsgrim), selling for 600 gp.
+1 greataxe (from Kriger), selling for 1,160 gp.
strength +2 composite longbow (from Kriger), selling for 150 gp.
Does anyone else have items they want to return to party loot to be sold off?
Knowing that Janku and Servayn are trailing the others a bit in gear value, does everyone want to 1) live with it, 2) give them more cash now to help balance or 3) steer more items (particularly protective items) to them as we go forward?
Anyone else have feedback on how to take care of this?
Set |
I'd feel greedy asking for a bigger share of cash loot. Even jumping from 4th to 6th level, he's over WBL (and vastly, vastly better-equipped than he was during our last encounter!). I fine with any of the options, really.
Edit: Kalsgrim is sneaking up on Servayn's post-count, I see (on the characters page). I guess Servayn needs to get more chatty!
Javell DeLeon |
I don't think I've got anything else to sell.
Here's what we're gonna do with Janku and Servayn: Option 3.
I'd say give them cash also, but I have no idea how much we have. So having said that, I really don't know how to go about that.
I also think we can hammer something out when the time arises. Especially now that it's known that these two are behind the rest of us. I feel it'll get taken care of properly.
Kalsgrim Lodovka |
So, do we need to spend the 3 or 4 thousand gold in the next day (real time) and then head off on horseback to see what happened to the lost colony? We can let Kriger pick the path. We need to try and be back in a month so our fledgling nation doesn't fall to pieces in our absence.
I think we are caught up to game time in the kingdom construction. Is that correct?
Kalsgrim Lodovka |
Here's how I got the total.
10,000 gp cash came from the trolls' treasure trove.
In addition, we had gathered the following items to sell off:
+1 spellstoring longspear (from troll loot), selling for 4,152.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Akiros), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 longsword (from Kalsgrim), selling for 1,157.5 gp.
+1 scale armor (from Kalsgrim), selling for 600 gp.
+1 greataxe (from Kriger), selling for 1,160 gp.
strength +2 composite longbow (from Kriger), selling for 150 gp.
I just took 15K and divided between all of us. That's where the 3K each came from. Then what was left over beyond that I divided between Servayn and Janku.
And I think it is okay that we are over the level average; I haven't read the adventure, but it may be a level or two before we see another copper.
Other Mastermind |
So how about 3000 gp each for Kriger, Kalsgrim and Davor, and 4688.7 gp for Janku and Servayn. Then after that, we try to steer a bit more of the recovered gear toward them to even things out a bit more.
If everyone is ok with this, that the money you have. You've had plenty of time to spend it. Choose carefully what you will buy. Markofbane could be right. Last time, one of you mentioned lack of potions and perhaps group items.
Servayn Krolz |
Servayn picks up some rations and a spare spell component pouch, just in case one gets lost or damaged.
Is purchasing magic items before leaving an option? A handy haversack would be... handy, and he could also pick up a +2 headband of charisma with the latest windfall.
Kalsgrim Lodovka |
I also have a +1 heavy shield, and a +1 morningstar if we haven't turned it yet.
Are you saying that you have those items extra to be sold? If so, they would be worth 635 gp for the shield and 1154 gp for the morningstar. That would be 1789 gp. Perhaps we can just put it toward a wand of cure light wounds and a curative potion or two? Or a second wand?
Set |
Yes, you have had enough time to spend your coins.
Awesome, changes made. 6000 gp spent.
Now that Servayn has a handy haversack, I bought some extra rations, spare clothes, spare mundane weapons, and alchemical junk. No more encumbrance worries! Woo! Best magic item, ever!
Javell DeLeon |
Eyes of the Eagle Scroll down to number #44.
And Handy Haversack is one of the greatest items ever, that's for sure. Totally agree.
Kalsgrim Lodovka |
Yup, I debated long and hard, but I ended up going with a haversack as well.
Masterwork cold iron kukri.
40 blunt arrows.
20 flight arrows.
2 smoke arrows.
Masterwork silvered heavy flail.
100 mundane arrows.
Mundane chainshirt.
40 cold iron arrows.
40 silver arrows.
Flint and steel.
100’ silk rope and grappling hook.
1 pound of soap.
30 days rations.
5 waterskins.
Whetstone.
Antitoxin.
5 sunrods.
A wooden holy symbol.
Cold weather outfit.
Noble outfit.
Travelers outfit.
Handy Haversack.
Barbed vest.
Alchemical solvent.
Antiplague.
Hot weather outfit.
OM, have you thought about whether you want to keep the Action Points we've been using, switch to Paizo's Hero Points or something else, or drop that kind of thing all together?
Javell DeLeon |
What's the word on the healing wands? Yea? Nay?
Oh and 55g goes to Servayn. :)
So I got 445g left.
You know, you were right about Kriger and his wealth being 28,000, Kalsgrim. You should've told me you weren't counting the boat. I just figured you were. I didn't even realize I had so much worth. My bad.
Nice idea with the ring by the way. That fits him pretty well.
Now, I can either buy a bunch of CLW potions with this money left over or I can donate it for the wand. Or I can just stash it. Suggestions? I'd like to stash it or use it for a healing wand, mainly. But I'm good with whatever.
As per Hero points: I have a good argument... It's the only thing that's kept us alive is a good argument! :P
Totally kiddin'! Well, I guess technically I'm not, but, it really doesn't matter to me one way or another. But I couldn't resist. :)

Don't worry about it, it's the nature of the game. Newer characters introduced to an established group at the same level always have a gear advantage for a bit, as they got to spend their WBL on exactly what they can use, while the established characters got a bunch of random stuff, much of which they had to sell at half value (and, from what I've read recently, looking back through old posts in this thread, we missed two out of three of the treasure hoards in the first adventure anyway, so it's our own damn fault).
Now, I can either buy a bunch of CLW potions with this money left over or I can donate it for the wand. Or I can just stash it. Suggestions? I'd like to stash it or use it for a healing wand, mainly. But I'm good with whatever.
Stash it for now. We've got some healing resources already, especially if the aforementioned wands come through. Kriger's front-lining it, he should be saving up for bigger and badder armor and weapons.
As per Hero points: I have a good argument... It's the only thing that's kept us alive is a good argument! :P
I've only used them for Diplomacy rolls, being a finger-waggling non-combatant, but I know you guys blew through them during that troll encounter, so hopefully we can function without them!
Still, the sole legitimate need for hero points / action points is to take the pressure off the GM to fudge bad die rolls leading to TPKs or whatever, and in PBP, it's way, way easier for the GM to handle stuff like that than it is in tabletop.

Just for future reference, I have a Ring of Sustenance. Which means I need only 2 hours rest.
Now having said that, I think we can stick with the same order of watch, except move Kriger to second watch along with Davor and that way we have 2 on watch most of the night.
