Dungeon Kobold |

Alas, the only source of Action Points nowadays is AT&T.
In seriousness, if they stacked level-to-level, you'd have dozens of 'em by tenth. ;D

Dungeon Kobold |

Well, two plans have been brought up: Wading through the brown mold, or going off the deep end.
I'm going to clarify, since I've realized there's confusion here: The room is not totally flooded—as in, it's not filled floor-to-ceiling. It's maybe 7-10 feet deep, tops. You'll probably have to swim, but there's plenty of room to breathe.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Let's going with swimming. It sounds less immediately lethal.

Carina Viera |

I also like the idea of swimming, even though Carina isn't any good at it.
Carina walks over to the shaft and starts climbing down.
"Off we go, then!"
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
Carina takes her time getting to the bottom of the rope.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Tanith straps his weapon to his back and follows as well.

Dungeon Kobold |

You all climb down without incident. Do you make any preparations before sending Cuetzpalli down?
Also, did you bring Spiny?

Astraden Limhaare |

"Oh, if he'll do what he's told, can he just climb down on his own? Those claws could do for grabbing ledges and the like." Astraden shrugs out of her scale mail and follows the others down.
"Damn, this place is larger than I expected." As she straps her armor back on, she examines the defaced carvings at the bottom of the shaft. She also peers down into the eastern and western rooms as she follows Cuetzpalli to the top of the stairs.

Carina Viera |

"You think this is big? Wait until you see the other crypt." Carina says, approaching the flooded room, but not entering it.
She twirls an explosive vial in her hand, eying the water for anything lurking within.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
...not that she'd know. She keeps glancing over at something else.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
It's painfully obvious she's looking over at Tanith, repeatedly.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Tanith offers Carina a rugged smirk and a little flex as he reaches back to pull the poleaxe off his back.
"Just keep an eye out for more beetles", the Kordite warns.

Farrukh Al'Khatel |

Farrukh scans the darkness again, looking for any sign of the creatures he heard splashing around earlier.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Astraden Limhaare |

Seeing a few of the others looking ahead warily, Astraden tries to reduce her jingling and stay on the alert.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8; Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 5 HA
She also draws her rapier.

Carina Viera |

Carina looks away, rather embarrassed.
She at least takes comfort in the fact that Astraden is having just as much difficulty being subtle as she is.

Dungeon Kobold |

1d20 ⇒ 121d20 ⇒ 111d20 ⇒ 6
I'm assuming Robin is again bearing the light spell.
Farrukh sees a shadowy humanoid shape in the dark waters.

Astraden Limhaare |

If Farrukh points that shape out, and Cuetzpalli still plans to go in the water, Astraden casts bless on the group.

Cuetzpalli |

Cuetzpalli climbs down the rope, and commands Spiny to follow him.
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Spiny Climb check (Action Point): 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 4 + (6) = 19

Dungeon Kobold |

Spiny crawls painstakingly down the shaft edge and, when the shaft opens into the chamber, drops to land on the floor below.
Make an Acrobatics check, DC 15. If it fails, Spiny takes 1d6 ⇒ 5 lethal damage from the fall and1d6 ⇒ 6 points of nonlethal damage.
EDIT: Made some fixes. If the check is successful, only 5 nonlethal damage is taken.

Cuetzpalli |

Spiny acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Astraden Limhaare |

As they walk, Astraden asks, "May I heal Spiny?" When the dinosaur allows it, she lays a hand on his flank and says a short prayer. "Please give this creature strength, that it may laugh at death today."
Spontaneously convert hide from undead to cure light wounds. Damage healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Most of the beast's bruises fade.

Dungeon Kobold |

Make sure to mark off your HP—assuming you haven't already. Assuming you were at max before, your current HP is correct.
So, who's going into the water?

Farrukh Al'Khatel |

If Farrukh can see the thing, he can designate it as a Target, right?
Farrukh moves forward slowly, drawing his sword and shield as he does so.
He designates it as a Favored Target if possible, but doesn't immediately attack...who knows it might be friendly.

Cuetzpalli |

Nonlethal damage doesn't actually reduce your HP. Spiny was down one, so now he's at max HP. He just has one point of NL for the next hour.
Can everyone see the dude in the water?

Dungeon Kobold |

Farrukh can point it out, but it flits out of sight after a few seconds. Only the ripples in the water signal that it is still there.
And yes, Farrukh, you can designate it as your Favored Target.

Cuetzpalli |

Cuetzpalli shrugs, "Thank you, Astraden. If that thing were friendly, why would it be hiding in the water? Want me to sick Spiny on it?"

Astraden Limhaare |

"They could be afraid of us, I suppose. They haven't attacked us yet, so . . ." Astraden cups her hands to her mouth. "Ho! Who goes there?"
Marching order: Cuetzpalli and Spiny, Farrukh and Tanith, Robin and Astraden, Carina?

Dungeon Kobold |

There is no response from the pool. Perhaps they can't hear Astraden from all the way behind the others, though, and she should come closer to the edge.

Astraden Limhaare |

Astraden totally abjures the hell out of that idea.
"You might as well send him in, but don't have him attack any of them just yet. They could be water sprites for all we know." Astraden holds her holy symbol at the ready.

Astraden Limhaare |

Astraden also finds a good-sized rock and chucks it in.
Maybe if we demonstrate enough immaturity they'll get annoyed and come face us.

Dungeon Kobold |

Deep down in the water, a faint crimson light appears. It bobs, then starts retreating around the corner.
Note that while the area is well-lit, the water is too murky to see very far in.

Astraden Limhaare |

"Well, at least we got a response."
Astraden holds up her mask again and says, "Let luck be with us." Everyone in the party (barring Bermintrude) feels more courageous. Then she stands back against the wall to let the others through.
Bless will last 10 rounds. Everyone gets a +1 bonus on attack rolls and saves against fear.

Farrukh Al'Khatel |

"Well that red light looks promising, let's go check it out." Farrukh says, wading into the water.
Swim (if needed): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Glug glug burble burble.

Cuetzpalli |

Cuetzpalli and Spiny follow Farrukh into the water.
Cuet will take 10 on swim for a 12.

Dungeon Kobold |

Oh, god. Just when I'm almost finished with a post that would have me well on the way to NaNoWriMo, I see that Cuetzpalli's posted, too.
It'll be a few minutes more, then...

Dungeon Kobold |

Fun Fact: People who fail their Swim checks lose their Dex bonus to AC, and enemies gain a +2 bonus on attacks against them.
Farrukh and Cuetzpalli* enter the murky waters. Farrukh quickly finds he's not an especially good swimmer, struggling even to keep his head above the surface.
Suddenly, Farrukh goes under.
These creatures do not get concealment against you, but see Underwater Combat.
Grapple on Cuetzpalli (Surprise): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 2 = 10
Grapple on Farrukh (Surprise): 1d20 + 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 2 + 2 = 15
Farrukh is yanked under. He finds himself staring through the gloom into the glowing red eyes of a pallid, emaciated face.
One grasps Farrukh's leg while the other lunges at Cuetzpalli. A third is lurking nearby. These might once have been humans. Now they're hideously thin, with long, needle-like teeth and bulging red eyes. They all wear red leather armor.
You are now holding your breath (bottom of the page, for reference) and grappled. Note that while visibility is poor, the creatures are not getting concealment against Farrukh.
Roll so I don't have to change who originally won Initiative so I can get to go to sleep: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Inits: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Underwater combat. The main gist: Underwater creatures have total cover from non-underwater creatures.
You are up.
* Grumble.

Dungeon Kobold |

Okay, there's a problem because the rolls got thrown off. Please stand by.

Dungeon Kobold |

That should do it. Good morning, everyone. I'm headed to bed. ;)

Carina Viera |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Carina yells "FARRUKH!" as he gets pulled underwater.

Cuetzpalli |

Cuetzpalli gets out of the water, and commands Spiny to attack. The dinosaur jumps in where his mater just was and does as he's told.
Cuet 5' step out of the water.
Spiny 5' step into the water and full attack the thing.
Bite (action point): 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 5 + (1) = 19
Claw (underwater): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 2 = 6
Claw (underwater): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11
Bite damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Sigh, two misses and a minimum damage. Great. I didn't penalize bite attack/damage since it counts as piercing.

Astraden Limhaare |

Perception and distance: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 7 - 2 = 15
"Three of them!" Astraden wades in next to Farrukh and tries to pull him up to the surface.
Aiding: Swim: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Round one: Move action down the stairs; move/standard action to aid Farrukh.

Dungeon Kobold |

Just a sidenote: You can't five-foot step when wading.
Also, Astraden sees that Farrukh's problem is being grappled, not swimming. That being said, your Aid can be applied there. Farrukh will gain a +2 bonus on CMB checks to escape on his move.

Robin O'Haranson |

Robin's eyes bug out wildly. "I'm getting rather fed up with this balderdash." He pulls out his dagger and twirls it flashily.
"Catch me up, old man!" He grins at Tanith, and rushes over to tackle the creature closest to Farrukh.
Think, Robin, think. Robin recalls a time not two years ago when a village he passed through followed some strange 'frog dance' fad. It was surprisingly good practice for anyone looking to swim or jump. How'd it go again? At any rate, he definitely felt more frog-like.
(Swim): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Ok, so he hadn't seen the fad in a while. But he felt more frog-like!
(Grapple): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5
"Gurgle!" Is all that Robin can say as he struggles to swat at the monster. Come to think of it, he struggles to remember the last time he even went for a light paddle.
