There is that. I'm kinda for that too if it'll speed things along...

Cuetzpalli |

Okay, so everyone except for me thinks it's a good idea to take it with us? With no end goal, except that Eben and Farrukh want to sell it?
Honestly I think that's really out of character for Cuetzpalli to go along with, but I don't want to be that guy who makes a unilateral decision to kill something and pisses the whole party off.
If we're going to take it with us, we need to have a specific goal for it for Cuetzpalli to be okay with that. That goal needs to end up with it dead. Selling it for spell components is totally fine, but giving it to someone who's going to hatch it is not.
If the only point of moving it is to save the lizard eggs, then Cuetzpalli really doesn't give a crap. He'll just bash up the dragon egg right now and let the lizardfolk move their eggs after we leave.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I think you misunderstood. We're not taking it with us we are taking it outside to smash it.

DankeSean RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4 |

Right, Eben wants to sell it (whether to someone who wants to play pokemon or for spell components is more or less irrelevant to him) and buy a Scrooge McDuck gold piece swimming pool, and Farrukh seems to be behind that, but with XCuetz, Carina, and Tanith wanting to just kill it now and Astraden not caring one way or the other, the profiteering side of the party is outvoted.
From that subdecision of 'Well, let's smash it', Carina wanted to move it outside to do so, which is where the current indecision is coming from.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I've got another 5 hour drive home from the convention. I was hoping we'd have figured this out.
Does that clarification help Cuetzpali?

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

We're planning to smash it. We're just waiting for you two to move it.

Cuetzpalli |

Word, F-money. Word.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I had to stop for gas so it seems like a good time to post.
I'll admit I've been busy this weekend so I haven't been following the thread super closely and might have missed some crucial detail but dragging the egg outside and smashing it seemed to make the most sense. We're trying to end the dragon's influence over the lizardfolk but smashing it where it is seems overly messy and might put the lizardfolk eggs in danger. If there's no danger to the surrounding lizardfolk eggs I suppose we could just smash it where it is but it seems like a dick move. Imagine if you called an exterminator over to deal with a roach infestation and he just squished them all with his boot along your walls.
In any case let's move on. We've spent way too much time mussing over something that nobody is really arguing about. Like KC said, both threads going silent over this is silly. If Farrukh and Cuetzpali don't want to put in a little effort just smash it where it is.
I'm also a bit worried about the parasite the one lizardfolk picked up and am curious where she picked it up. If it was just the food I'd imagine more would be sick. I'm kind of worried the water down here is swimming with them...

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Ha! I was right (for the wrong reasons)!
Resuming driving. I don't think Tanith can do anything meaningful here to stop the death of an entire generation of lizardfolk but if someone comes up with a workable plan, feel free to NPC Tanith as necessary. Good job guys!

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I got home last night after my 7 hour drive home to find that the water heater had exploded and nobody in the house has noticed.
So that's my day today. I need to assess the damage, get a replacement down here and installed, and then get the broken one disposed off. It's going to be an expensive day.

We know the worms have connections to the undead but do they react like undead to positive energy? Do we have any reason to believe that a channel would harm them?

Kobold Catgirl |

You really have no idea, I'm afraid. All Astraden is sure of is they aren't undead.
Also, Astraden rolled well, but I'm not sure I'm okay with allowing Knowledge check retries whenever a new level is gained—especially considering the only people you guys have met who know about the worms are people Astraden can't stand. I'm not sure why she'd suddenly know more about them.
Knowledge checks are supposed to represent things you learned in your backstory.

In that case it doesn't particularly make sense that you can know more about more things as you level, then does it?
"I rolled a 42!"
"Yeah bro you totally learned about <Insert Esoteric Piece of Knowledge/Unique And Never Before Seen Monster He Could Never Have Learned Wherever He Was Before Level 1 Here> in your dinky farming village. Why wouldn't you have?"
Better to just abstract it as knowledge you picked up off screen when you leveled, or you end up in situations where someone failed a Knowledge check to identify a Goblin at level 1 so now that he has a +14 Kn. Local at level 6 he's completely incapable of figuring out what one is.

Just a quick heads up--now that the school year has started up again for me, my posting rate may end up dropping. I'll try to keep up as best I can.

Cuetzpalli |

Same goes for me over the next couple weeks. I'm covering another teacher's classes while she's out of the country, and my own college classes have started back up, so I'm unusually busy for the time being. It won't last more than the first half of September though.

Carina Viera |

Oh... this just got EXTREMELY awkward.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

I know I'm just being insensitive about this situation but the 'it' pronoun weirds me out. 'It' feels like not a person. The English language needs to invent something better.

I can't speak for hermaphrodites, which is the case here, I think, but a relative I have who doesn't identify as either gender prefers the use of 'they', or 'their' in lieu of him/her or his/hers. (Which I'll admit makes for confusing conversations if you're not familiar with the individual.)
Then there are invented gender-neutral pronouns (like hir or zhe) but they haven't found wide useage.
I do agree English needs to do better.

Yeah, it's a bit clumsy. Moral of the story is, Hishka's one of a small number of lizardfolk born hermaphroditic and granted increased intelligence. I'll use "they" or "Hishka" from now on. :P
Poor fetal lizardfolk. =(
Poor Ross Byers. =(

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

They is awkward too but at least it implies 'person'.

![]() |

Hishka looks over. "You serve Kord, yes? The dragonslayer? I have heard of him. Believe me, this dragon is currently far beyond your power. She is an old and terrible beast. Even Shukak trembled in her presence. To seek her now, when her wrath is greatest, would be suicide."
Sounds like the only EL-appropriate encounter we're getting out of this adventure, guys. Let's do it.

Rynjin |

Then there are invented gender-neutral pronouns (like hir or zhe) but they haven't found wide usage.
That's because everyone who uses a gender-neutral pronoun makes up their own unique one, because they don't feel special enough without it.

Rynjin |

I can only assume you're kidding.
You should browse Tumblr some time (no you shouldn't).
If you choose to ignore my advice, pay special attention to the "My pronouns" section of many blogs.
Usually found right under a collection of words describing themselves as a great many things they probably really aren't, or don't exist in the first place ("I was totally a dragon in a past life, honest! Also, I identify as a hermaphrodite, but I'm not really one.")

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

You still working on a big 'return to the keep' post?
