Do it, that's some petty shit. You shouldn't steal ANYTHING from people, obviously, but especially not anything with sentimental value like that.

Female Kobold

I threatened the courts, and she seems to have backed down. We get it back Saturday. Bracing to find it on fire or something, haha.

Anyways, thanks for your encouragement earlier. It actually helped. I'm really trying to kick the perfectionism. PbPs bring it out of me in a way irl games don't.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Yeah. When I'm running a live game I pride myself on winging it, but the advantage and disadvantage of PbP is I have infinite time to think and try to make things CINEMATIC or some shit.

Perfection is often the enemy of progress.

Female Kobold

I am definitely getting better about it.

Female Kobold

Alright, setting out for Ohio tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

Female Kobold

I am now home! I'll get an update up tomorrow.

Female Kobold

Maybe not today, actually. I had a doctor's appointment and a meeting with a client and both ran long. I think I'm finally clear of the chaos, though.

Female Kobold

I am still clear of the chaos, but I've honestly just had a couple of weird days lately. It's been hard to get back to a routine with everything going on. I'm hoping to do some scheduling tonight and be back with a cleaner structure to things starting tomorrow!

Female Kobold

Ugh, sorry, the routine is slowly getting better but it's not quite there yet.

Female Kobold

Post tomorrow! Things are settling. The routine is re-assembling. I sort of accidentally got a second job at the start of April and I've been bouncing back from that change to my workflow ever since, but it's getting better. Part of me is just dreading having to start another high-level Pathfinder encounter.

Female Kobold

Executive dysfunction hit me really badly the last month, but I didn't actually realize until just now how long it's been since I've updated. A month is a long time. In the past, I was reluctant to add "update PbPs" to my morning routine because I didn't want to disrupt workflow, but my workflow is a lot more reliable nowadays. I'm going to give it a try. We've made it such a long ways, and I'm determined to get this game moving again for good.

Female Kobold

Map's updated, by the way!

The Mournful Song, The Isle of Last Resort

Sorry, post tomorrow. Had a rough one. The post is outlined, and the landshark made its saves and isn't down. It's looking bad, though. If anyone hits an AC of 28 or above and does at least, like, 20 damage, it's down.

I hit a 22 Touch AC and did 33 fire damage...

It'd be pretty worrisome if this guy had a 23 Touch AC, huh?

He doesn't.

My cat, GLaDOS, passed away this morning, and it was already not being the kindest week to me, so I've been a little buried in books and not-so-online lately. I'll be back to posting soon.

I'm very sorry to hear that. My girl Rosie passed in April and I cried any time I was left with nothing but my thoughts for at least a week straight afterward. Distracting yourself is definitely best practice.

Sorry to hear about your cat, KC. We'll still be here when you come back.

Sympathies, KC. Great name for a cat, I trust she lived up to it.

Female Kobold

She was a wonderfully silly cat. Here's my favorite picture of her.

I'll look to resume things on Monday. This week ended up sort of being a break from everything normal in my life--especially when the new roommate came in and promptly tested positive for COVID--and it turns out that can cause some dissociation if you're not careful. I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things.

Ahh, the classic, 'I'm cute, here's my belly to rub' ploy, immediately, of course, followed by 'HOW DARE YOU TOUCH THE BELLY'.

I mean, five of a cat's six ends are pointy when they lie down like that...

Sorry about your kitty.

Female Kobold

Actually, the post won't be up til tomorrow. Today's ended up being kind of chaotic. The good news is, it doesn't seem like any of the rest of us caught COVID.

Female Kobold

Made a mistake on my medication renewals and not sure how today is gonna look. I should be fine, but my morning routine's a little shot.

Female Kobold

Okay, it's all good, I'll get the refill today and update the PbP in a few hours. I was worried we wouldn't be able to get a refill before the three-day weekend.

Female Kobold

Sorry! One of our chickens got an egg blockage yesterday, and I've been a little overwhelmed trying solutions. We will probably lose her, but this one's extra-tame, so we're trying our best right now to get that thing out of her. Tomorrow morning I have dentist (fingers crossed for root canal), but after that I should be good. One way or another, she'll be through this by then.

Female Kobold

We did indeed end up losing her, as a quick update.

Always sucks to lose a bird. Sorry.

Female Kobold

This bird was extremely tame--jumping onto people's shoulders--so it hit really hard, and the two days spent trying to save her her very draining and a little dissociative. I'll get things moving tomorrow.

Posted in IC before I read discussion, didn't mean to force the game KC. I hope the other chickens are staying healthy and happy.

Female Kobold

Oh, it's fine, sib, it's impossible to rush me and everyone's given up trying at this point anyways. The other birds are doing well--one of them laid the biggest egg I've ever seen today, and she's not a big bird. No idea what's wrong with these animals. Came out fine, though.

(I am going to post tomorrow if I can, just lost track of time.)

I read somewhere the other day that feeding them some old or even expired yogurt will do wonders for egg production. Haven't tried it yet, but might be worth testing out. Could also be internet BS, but probiotics are a thing and yogurt is cheap so I'm gonna try it at some point.

Female Kobold

Calcium is what they really need, so that makes sense.

Our cat loves yogurt, but his egg production is rather lacking. I think maybe it might just be internet BS.

He needs more sunlight. Has Sweden's one sunny day of the year come up yet?

The Mournful Song, The Isle of Last Resort

Now, here's an interesting rules question: If Farrukh used this ability on a Mythic double-action creature, does a successful save still mean the creature loses (as I suspect is the case) both actions? That makes it quite powerful in those situations.

Yeah, because it's not like it takes an action, they're just removed from the combat for a while. I feel like it's a fair-ish trade because we can't harm him in any way while he's zonked, unlike if he was eg. Paralyzed (in which case he loses both actions AND can be coup de graced).

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

It's basically a somewhat reskinned maze. Offers a saving throw in lieu of the round-by-round intelligence check, but otherwise achieves the same effect of 'please don't bother us while we kill your allies and make preparations for your imminent return to battle.'

Female Kobold

Yeah, complete with the "no way to avoid the first round" element. Which, honestly, feels like a troubling comparison, considering that Maze is an 8th level spell affected by SR (it's basically Lesser Time Stop).

Maze also doesn't give a save, and raw Int checks are...difficult. It has no (reasonable) maximum duration and is very likely to last longer than 4 rounds. I think fair enough to be downgraded to my equivalent of a 7th level spell.

Female Kobold

I'd probably feel better about it if we had Critical Successes, and there was a way to entirely negate the effect. At its core, part of Maze's amazing utility is simply being guaranteed a round to breathe, and that's this ability, too.

Female Kobold

Gonna be spotty posting this weekend, running a lot of errands.

Female Kobold

oh so it's gonna be that kind of boss fight huh

He shoulda brought more dudes.

Female Kobold

You're not wrong.

Female Kobold

Any word from Feral?

I've been thinking about it. My favorite thing about running Age of Worms for multiple groups is comparing the way different groups play the same encounters, and while I haven't run Last Resort for any other groups yet, I've seen how multiple groups handle the same earlier encounters. In this case, I'm pretty sure plenty of parties wouldn't have thought to lure out Harrowdroth, or wouldn't have learned to prepare fire resistance, or wouldn't have had a surefire means of negating Harrowdroth's first turn so the whole party would get to act before him (and some of you got to act twice).

Action economy helped a lot in this case, but it's also worth remembering that this is an extremely capable group that uses good strategy and knows the system well.
