Female Kobold

I might not get a post up today. Mental health stuff. I'll try to post tonight, and if not, tomorrow morning.

Battle at the Rift, The Isle of Last Resort

If we don't hear from Tanith today, I'll assume there's no objection. Sorry for holding things up for a full unanimous vote—this is one of those times where I'd prefer to be sure everyone's on board.

Sorry, posted. I didn't have a lot to add.

Female Kobold

No worries. I'll try to get Krekie's stats to the party over the next week—I haven't finished her redesign, but feel free to throw her at any rogue-ish problems that Carina and Eben don't want to deal with.

Female Kobold

So, my laptop may be broken, which isn't a huge crisis but will likely mean that I won't be able to post very frequently for a bit, as I will be dependent on my phone to post.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

Oh, that sucks. Hope you don't lose anything critical.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Damn, that sorta sounds like a huge problem. Not for the game, but generally. Hope you can get a working computer again soon!

Yeah, that sucks big time. Sorry, and +1 to what Gark said!

Female Kobold

Okay, computer's back up and running, just in time to be house-sitting. I'm working on a post now, but expect posting to get a little spotty for a patch.

Female Kobold

Sorry, I had to take a couple days off the internet, but I should have let y'all know sooner. All is well--I just felt a little burned out between work and hobbies. I'll be back tomorrow.

Update: KC's computer is still throwing a hissy fit and being uncooperative. The issue will be resolved tomorrow.

Female Kobold

Sorry about the radio silence, everyone. Things got really rough in my personal life for a few weeks and I've been putting everything into my work to try to at least get one source of stress under control. My situation has eased up a little, and I'm close to caught up on commissions. We'll be back June 1st.

Battle at the Rift, The Isle of Last Resort

I'll wait one more day for Jelani, then rotate the memories regardless, so Tanith can have someone to talk to. Like I said, Jelani dropping would be totally understandable - I really fell off the face of the earth for a month as far as the non-Discord crowd was concerned - but I won't deny that it would be a blow.

I'm here. Sorry, I didn't even realize it'd been since Tuesday that the post went up. I'll try to post here as soon as I see new posts from now on so that I don't forget to go back later, my bad.

Female Kobold

No worries! I was just bracing myself for bad news. Looking back, I jumped the gun in worrying after just a few days.

Female Kobold

I'll post tomorrow afternoon. Sorry, days are pretty swingy lately.

Female Kobold

Ugh, I might not manage it today after all. Had a big roommate squabble last night and the first half of the day was basically occupied resolving it, and now I have work to catch up on. These updates are more challenging than normal ones, since they're obviously very individualized, so please bear with me a bit longer and we'll get back to the action soon enough.

Female Kobold

I promise I'm not fading out again, it's just been a lot to deal with for these last few days in a row. I have the post about halfway drafted at this point.

Female Kobold

Okay, things are starting to calm down around here at long last. Thank you all for your patience. I think I can get things moving again tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Huzzah!

Yay!

Female Kobold

To be clear, the post is still on the docket. It's... basically just a matter of looking for a day where I can focus on managing the "this update is behind schedule" panic for an hour or so to finish writing it. Once the stone is rolling, I can keep up, but getting the boulder moving to begin with is the trick.

Sorry that I keep trying for a day and missing it! I'm going to aim for sometime this week, and keep it vague like that from now on.

Getting work done on time would genuinely be so much easier if I didn't care if it was late. XD

Don't worry about it. I've got exactly the same problem.

Battle at the Rift, The Isle of Last Resort

I literally thought about posting Thursday, but figured, "nah, I have three more days, better to focus on work instead. Not like some horrible great dome of upwards of 114-degree days and 85-degree nights is gonna mess with my productivity."

I'll do my best, but if things get pushed back to more like Tuesday or Wednesday, it's because my energy is being rationed for major priorities.

Battle at the Rift, The Isle of Last Resort

I'm pretty sure I can get the posts up tomorrow morning or early noon as long as nothing else blows up in my face. I give it pretty good odds--let's say 7/10. I was hoping for today, but I just had an absolutely pedantically rickety day, so I'm going to spend the evening prepping and outlining the post and taking things easy.

Female Kobold

Things are stabilizing. I'm finally seeing my therapist again after a forced 1.5-month hiatus, so that's excellent. I'm planning a post sometime between the 28th and the 5th of August, after I'm back from a trip to Bellevue I'm making to see a friend.

If I'm not able to resume by the end of the first week of August, I may have to consider ending this game, just because it's frankly not responsible of me to keep everyone waiting multiple months if I don't really have a plan to resume. If we do end, I'll try to make sure there's a good, solid wrap-up of some kind to give us all some closure. I'm considering it an absolute worst-case scenario.

That said, right now I'm optimistic. Things are getting easier and my workflow has gotten a lot more steady and reliable. Knock on wood!

It's good to hear you're getting some help, have somebody to talk to.

Female Kobold

It might be on the later end of that range - persevering through this second heat dome, which is basically an unimaginative sequel to the first one.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

I imagine it's less a 'sequel' and more like, 'a continuation of the saga'.

Female Kobold

Hard to believe it's "only" been two months! We're back, though!

Female Kobold

Goodness gracious I literally told my girlfriend, "Yeah, I'm gonna go update the forum games now," and then instantly got caught up in an ADHD hyperfocus and now it's two hours later and time for bed. I'll post tomorrow!

Female Kobold

Actually, I may not get a post up until Saturday or Sunday. I've been pressed by a work deadline I didn't quite meet today due to yesterday's troubles. It's frustrating, but I'll have it done tomorrow morning, and then I'll hopefully find myself with much more breathing room.

Battle at the Rift, The Isle of Last Resort

I mentioned it in the Discord, but to repeat it here: We'll be back soon.

Life Stuff:
So, like a lot of people with ADHD, my productivity tends to come in wildly uneven waves, waxing and waning without any real long-term self-awareness. Usually, when I'm on a high, I start taking on more work, which causes terrible but very predictable burnout when I hit the low. It's basically this comic.

I'm on a high right now, bouncing back from a pretty low point a couple weeks ago. For once, I've decided to use the emotional energy to cut my workload instead of increase it. It seems obvious when I say it like that, and my friends and multiple successions of therapists have been telling me to do it for literal years, but I'm someone who tried to balance PbPs, NaNoWriMo, the edTPA and full-time serial writing as recently as last November. It finally clicked with me last week, when I got the news that my current therapist wouldn't be able to get on my network after all, that uninsured therapy bills cost a lot more than turning down the odd commission.*

So, yeah. The compromise I basically made with myself was that I'd give myself one last big swing at catching up "properly" over the next two days, then, assuming I don't pull something really fantastic off, cancel a number of work commitments I've determined I can afford to lose.

One way or another, I am pretty sure I'll soon be out of the absurd overextended deadline-dangling woods I've been in for the last couple years. Sorry I've kept you all waiting for such a while! It remains to be seen if things will meaningfully get better, but honestly, I'm sort of in that Capitalist Realism "easier to imagine the end of civilization than the end of having 12 past-deadline projects to catch up on at all times" type of space, so it's hard for me to judge. Once I'm there, I'm pretty sure a lot of things will suddenly get a lot easier for me.

*Thank goodness I don't have those pesky long Canada wait times. Goodness, could you imagine a therapist having a wait list? Kafkaesque.

Was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid, long time ago. Always written it off as BS and suffered through, but g&& d$$n that comic is #relateable.

Never seen something capture my struggle so perfectly.

I'm basically in the same boat right now. Good luck! I hope we both get caught up and then have the wisdom to slow down during those high times.

Female Kobold

Thanks, Jelani. I really appreciate that.

I'm working on a post for today! Not sure if it'll make it up today. All this internal Paizo stuff has kind of messed with my head a bit, as those in the Discord have probably noticed. I've been on these forums since I was ten, so I feel "obligated" to speak up in all the arguments going on because it all feels very personal for me, and then I'm hyperfocused on it and it's consuming my whole mood and there my day goes.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm completely unaware there are things going on at Paizo.

I was actually worried I'd somehow offended you, but that's the ADHD telling me how s+*@ty I am again. -sigh- Been a rough day on my end. Hope it gets better for both of us soon!

Female Kobold

No, no, sorry for not responding! When I'm running behind on a post, sometimes I unconsciously avoid checking the tabs and I don't see posts like yours. It's a bad habit. Best of luck to you as well!

Female Kobold

Gosh, I picked a bad week to finally put aside the guilt and anxiety enough to start the PbPs back up again. XD

Depression has hit and a fight with my ex-who's-also-my-roommate went bad. I may be spotty with posts, but I'll be trying to err on the side of "crappy frequent posts". If I make a mistake, let me know. And if posts seem lazy, it's because they really are right now, I just really want to get things rolling again so I can have the energy to put effort into things later when it matters.

I'll err in favor of the PCs when in doubt, since this fight really isn't the main point of the adventure even if it's starting to feel this way with how long we've taken to get here.

Also, who wants to run Clunk for this fight? I still need to redesign Krekie--I think I said elsewhere that she's an assassin/stygian slayer-type with a few weird tricks like the sea crows, so I'll be "half-statting" her until then with eyeballed numbers.

I can run Clunk, he's just an out of the book Kolyarut IIRC?

Female Kobold

Yup! Aside from being Chaotic Evil and having some ranger levels with Favored Enemy (the enemies of Kyuss) and Favored Terrain (soil drenched with Farrukh's blood), which is important to remember in case Farrukh takes a lot of damage in this fight.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think the funniest thing about that is "Favored Enemy: Non-Kyuss Worshipers" is an actual thing. There's a Ranger archetype or something (maybe Slayer or Inquisitor?) that lets you Favored Enemy enemies of your own faith.

Female Kobold

Happy Turkey Day, all!

Female Kobold

My Thanksgiving got postponed to today, so things have been chaotic. I hope to get a post up tonight!

I'm assuming that Cuetzpalli, Clunk and Krekie are basically going to use their actions Readying to attack when the octoxills (octopills?) emerge from the Ethereal Plane. Feel free to roll for the first two.

Also, if anyone wants to redesign Krekie, I wouldn't say no. Otherwise I'm either going to find time to do it myself sometime over the next week or just use her old 3.5 rogue/assassin stats. The redesign was really mainly just to make her a viable threat to PCs, after all.

I posted Clunk's action already, he turned Invisible.

Female Kobold

Oh, I meant for him, Cuetz and Krekie winning init.

Female Kobold

Okay, two weeks later, me and the roommate made up. Thank God. I've been a little overwhelmed by responsibilities lately, but that will make things easier.

After casting see invis, Cuetzpalli should be able to see them coming in right? If he gets another action before them he might do something other than ready. If not here are my rolls.

Yeah, I think metamagic feats are fine.
