The conversation takes longer than Argan anticipated, but he gets his point across. Finally the sailors begin nodding with understanding, although still muttering things like "Not good drink blood..." At the mention of Eryan one of the sailors - presumably the one Eryan saved - jumped up, exclaiming something in Norspik. The others respond in the same tongue, and although Argan cannot tell what they're saying he can generally tell they're in a better mood.

Argan Midnight |

Every once in a awhile Vlad will bear a fang at one of the crew just to keep em jumpy..
Side note, if they try to kill you I'll enjoy watching it. Even if you win I still get xp for "participating" in the battle, as a judge ^_^

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Kharn looks at his teammates not sure if they want to stay for another day, but if they are willing he shrugs.
"I can hunt for another day if you can."
Kharn does spend the rest of that night drinking with the sailors.
Dear goodness jealousy much? Kharn wants to off this guy just because he's such an immature idiot now.

Argan Midnight |

"Whatever."
Argan approaches Kargeld when Kharn is not around. "Hey captain. It's time to beat Kharn once and for good in the hunting. We are trusting you will get far more than him. Go for it!" Bad thing I'm not a bard...

Argan Midnight |

Crap! You know I wasn't being sarcastic, right? I actually want the man to win!

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Kharn wakes up on the final day of hunting and gets ready for hunting as he always does. He then goes out to the hunting spot Kargeld told him about.
DM I have a question since Kharn is inured to cold environments does that affect how he treats the freezing water or no? Also, how much does that bone breastplate weigh?
If the bone breastplate is not very heavy then Kharn will suggest that Vlad wear that instead of fullplate, or if that is too heavy to just go without armor.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Argan Midnight |

It's as heavy as a normal Breastplate. It costs half the regular price and have the fragile condition. Otherwise it is just as heavy as a brestplate. That actually is middle, not heavy, but you understood, right?

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Nevermind then.
Kharn suggest Vlad pick up a chain shirt, or go commando for this ride.

DM Omen |

Without an actual ability that helps you (such as a trait) then I cannot give you any bonuses against the cold. According to some sources I looked up, bone is about 1/4 as dense as commonly used metals (iron, steel) in armor. Although I cannot find anything about a weight entry in the books, there is a mention that bone armor has the check penalty lowered by 1.

Argan Midnight |

DM Omen |

Goodie ignores the sniping and the backbiting and finishes knitting hats for the boys. She gives each of you a cunning knitted cap.
Bahaha Goodie cracks me up.
Edit: Good catch Argan, I read through that a little quickly. So bone armor pretty much completely sucks unless it's studded leather, and in that case it's still bad.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Well it's a class ability, and I was think because of this.
Extreme Endurance (Ex): At 3rd level, the invulnerable rager is inured to either hot or cold climate effects (choose one) as if using endure elements. In addition, the barbarian gains 1 point of fire or cold resistance for every three levels beyond 3rd. This ability replaces trap sense.
Kharn chose cold
And Endure Elements does this.
ENDURE ELEMENTS
School abjuration; Level cleric 1, druid 1, paladin 1, ranger 1, sorcerer/wizard 1
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range touch
Target creature touched
Duration 24 hours
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
A creature protected by endure elements suffers no harm from being in a hot or cold environment. It can exist comfortably in conditions between –50 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit without having to make Fortitude saves. The creature's equipment is likewise protected.Endure elements doesn't provide any protection from fire or cold damage, nor does it protect against other environmental hazards such as smoke, lack of air, and so forth.

"Straps the Starfish Breatplate on.." Posing with the frufru armor on.. "Does this go with my eyes? Pshh.. Lets get going.."

DM Omen |

As Kharn is bringing in his fourth seal, he turns to Vlad with a laugh to show him the catch. Vlad takes a moment to admire the animal, then sees something moving in the water. After a moment, he sees this creature moving quietly under the water, right towards their small boat with a very hungry look in its eye.
Since neither of you have knowledge (arcana) trained, you have no idea of the powers or capabilities of this creature. Since Vlad made his perception check, there is no surprise round and we go strait to round one. You're up Vlad!
Enemy Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

"We got some fat ass sea creature lurking!" He pulls his falchion and gives it a swing..
Attack+High Ground-PA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 12 And surely misses..
So the armor is mwk and bone so ACP of -2?

Argan Midnight |

That's worth for two and a half seals, by the way. Ganbatte!

DM Omen |

Vladimir slashes once into the water near the odd creature, but the refraction of the water threw his blow badly off. Suddenly Vlad and Kharn feel the boat lurch forward, and turn to see a second one of the creatures behind them! Before they can react the first one slams into the front, lurching the boat back again. While the small boat currently remains right side up, it's becoming increasingly difficult to stand without falling out.
Make me acrobatic checks every round. And I was wrong about the ACP, it only applies if the armor is studded leather. Although you do still get the -1 since it's masterwork. You guys are both up!

Kharn falls into the water with a splash, but the water feels fine so it's no big deal to him.
Can Kharn still take the rest of his actions this round or no?

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Well then Kharn has actually had a stroke of good luck as falling into the water places him right next to the creature he wants to kill.
Rage free action, and will be using Animalistic Fury this round so Kharn gets +1 attack, but -1 AC
AC 14 (for this round) | HP 55/55 | rage rounds 11/12 (after this round)
Kharn attempts to claw the nearest seal.

DM Omen |

These things can be called a lot of things, but seal is definitely not one of them.
Kharn Swim: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Vladimir manages to keep his balance, but fails to land his attack. Kharn drops underwater unexpectedly as he loses his balance, only managing to get in half a breath. He forgoes treading in favor of shredding the creature that attacked them. He lands two strong hits, filling the blood with water. As the blood reaches the nostrils of them they inhale it deeply, then are suddenly full of rage as they both close in on Kharn! They both begin tearing into the soft flesh of the dinner that so nicely dropped in, tearing flesh with vicious bites that turn the water red.
Kharn, you are in a very bad position. Unless you can start making some swim checks you are in danger of drowning. You weren't expecting to go underwater so you can only hold your breath for 22 rounds. However, each round you spend fighting reduces the number of rounds by 1, so you are currently at 20. You also took 13 damage from two different attacks. Much more importantly is the terrible bleeding wound in your side right now. You're taking a massive 6 bleed damage per round, all while these things still attack you.
Also, a thing to note, I do not take into account your DR when I tell you damage.

Run, Kharn, Run! Otherwise in 40 more rounds they are going to kill you! Off to bad, try not to die for the seals.

Kharn begins to claw into the beast next to him with even more fury as his own blood swirls around the boat.
Animalistic fury once again.

Vladimir bares his fangs as the water turns red, then deftly strikes through the liquid is he familiar with. The blade bites deep into the creature, opening up its backside to reveal guts and bone. Kharn reasserts his authority, grabbing the creatures tooth with one hand and putting his other hand through its throat. He remains like that for a moment, hand going into its mouth and out the front of its throat, the rips his hand out and pushes off the body to resurface and fill his lungs with fresh air.

Back on the boat, Granny will be enchanting a red and white (mantis) scarf with protective magics and her knitting basket with the handy haversack enchantment.

Argan Midnight |

Funny thing is, Kharn may actually die, although it was a fairly easy encounter...

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Kharn is still good to go on this he just needs to lay back on the seal hunting for a bit that's all.

DM Omen |

Kharn turns just in time as the second creature charges him with open jaws. He grabs a large tusk on each jaw, keeping the deadly bite from coming down. They struggle in that lock for a moment before Kharn snaps open its jaw and rips a tusk free, slamming the sharp end into him a few times just to make sure. Vladimir drops his blade and offers a hand, bringing Kharn into the boat.
Kharn grins in victory for a moment, then buckles and falls to the bottom of the boat. Vladimir leans down, examining him to see there is dark red-brown colored blood, the kind of blood that comes from a stomach wound. Vladimir rips off a good portion of his shirt with his teeth, then tries to remember anything he can about treating bad wounds. His first attempt goes badly, putting far too much pressure on the outside area of the wound, causing Kharn to nearly pass out from the pain as more unhealthy looking blood pours out of the wound. He swears under his breath, then instead tries wrapping the cloth around the wound and putting pressure directly on it. After several more minutes he brings away his blood-soaked hands, seeing the flow has stopped.
Kharn is currently at 19/46 HP, but he's alive and the bleeding is temporarily stopped. Vladimir is forced to row back to the boat by himself, a long process that leaves him fatigued.
The sun sets, and for an entire hour Kharn and Vladimir do not return. The sailors begin whispering, and Kargeld shakes his head. "Sissies probably got killed by a couple of seals."
Finally, nearly two hours after they were expected back, the pair is seen walking towards the boat. Kharn has an arm over Vladimir's shoulder and they are walking slowly. When they get close enough, you see a good portion of the bottom of Vladimir's shirt is ripped off and there is a large amount of dried blood on both of them, mostly Kharn.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Would the bodies of the 'seals' be small enough to take with us? If not then Kharn will just take the heads.
Kharn pulls himself up, and makes sure to pull out all four of his seals, and the heads/bodies of the two creatures that attacked them.
"How much are these seals worth?" Kharn asks indicating the heads/bodies of the two 'seals' they encountered.

Argan Midnight |

"I don't suppose all that was made by a Seal, right?"
Did you bring the bodies? *eyes shinning with gold*

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Kharn just jumps off the side of the boat does a barrel roll in the water, and then gets back on the boat and drys himself off with a towel.
"Done."

DM Omen |

With a lot more blood on him.
Man, a wand of infernal healing is incredible for out of combat healing. 60HP guaranteed. I mean in a normal campaign your paladin is going to be pissed, but dang that's nice.
After nearly a minute the slow, evil healing does its work. Kharn is good as new, albeit a bit sore and pale. The sailors run down to the boat, retrieving the other seal corpses and dumping them on the boat. Kargeld looks at them with envy, but apparently Kharn nearly dying evens out his enmity for the moment.

Argan Midnight |

I'm not sure we're in the same page here Omen. It's 10hp/use.
"So, folks, why don't you update us on what happened and we can move along our quest? You know, we've been paid to do a job..."
Were it 500gp worth in skin or something like that?

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

"Well after single handily taking in four seals in we were attacked by those creatures. Vlad valiantly stayed in the boat to guard our cargo while I jumped into the waves and slew both of the beasts with my claws. Vlad did harm the second one pretty good though."
Appraise on the 'seals' corpses: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Kharn shrugs and picks up the creature from before. After bringing up the first one he picks up the second one and brings that one aboard as well.

Kharn the Binder *Cleaned-Up* |

Oh well then Kharn will just show off the heads that they cut off.
